IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Interview

Neal, A slight variation here :star:

Jacy can do the medical before the interview and carry the sealed enevelope to the Consulate.

His wife can visit the local VFS at Cochin with the appointment letter to pay Rs.387 and get the receipt. Since their (like ours) docs are at NVC, they don't have to submit anything including photocopies to VFS.

Loto

I agree with you LoTo. But OP's timeline is not in detail so therefore i told him to submit all things.LoTo if you have medical exam result then they ask for it.Because one of my friend did this normal IR1/CR1 process. At that time his wife has submitted medical exam result and Rs.387. So i think if you have medical exam result ready then you can submit it at VFS or you can carry at interview time.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresForm DS230 Question: Question #22, Not Enough Space?

Anything that doesn't fit in the space provided should be put on a seperate sheet of paper. I typed it all out as much as the sapce allowed me to, then on a sheet of paper I wrote my name, case number on the top and then in order the question number and complete info. For example, I also couldn't fit father's address completely, si wrote out the whole address on the attached paper, same for mother's address and any other sections where i did not have enough space.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew way pakages are being reviewed as starting today.

I called today and rep told me it will be 60 days from your last document was received. Even though I have October 6th was my 60 days for my first document. I have to wait another 60 days only to review my document. if you got check list then another 60 days. It's stupidity....

Yup , u r right. This is really ridiculous. For my AOS Package, 60 days ended on October 1st. But they have received my IV packet on September 19th. So the operator told me to wait 60 days from the last date when they have received documents. Then they will review all documents together. So I need to wait until December 19. And after that if u get any checklist then may be 60 days for that. Wooow.....what a pain. F***ing ridiculous.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 Questions.

Please help me answer these quetions on I-864 I will list them by number on the form.

21. When calculating household size if you enter the number of persons you are sponsoring on line 21a it include your spouse if you then put 1 in line 21c you have entered them twice. Therefore do you leave 21c blank?

Hi i have also the same question. In I-864 item#21 c is , "If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse".Now if somebody is sponsoring his/her spouse then should we have to write '1' in 21c again?? Because we have already wrote '1' in 21a. PLz if somebody has experience then help us. Thanks a lot. You can visit below link for I-864.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhich address to use?
It asks for ur address means put ur last mailing address,in ur case it will be ur dad's house.Dont worry abt that u live over there or not.Nobody will check that u r living or lived that.Just incase they will ask then told them that now onwards i live there(at ur dad house). In this case also u can put ur own address where u actually live. But remember, which ever address u put ,then put that address in all future documnets of ur wife petition. And in the question ,where u live together? In that put ur wife'address.Thats it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow do I know the case has been 'touched'?

Go to the USCIS website. Click on Sign-up for Case Updates.

Create an account and follow the directions for registering your NOA1 receipt number(s).

Set up e-mail and/or SMS updates; take note you will only receive updates based on major milestones in your application, like card production ordered, approvals, refusals, case transfers, etc.

There is a column there called Last Updated. Every time the date changes, it means your application has been touched; you will not receive e-mail or SMS alerts for touches.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Certificate

Hey,

I think this page will help you a lot: http://travel.state....195.html#police

You basically need a police certificate from any country you've lived in for a minimum of 6 months since you were 16. If you lived in the USA, you do not need one. But for all other countries, you do.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresConfused between police clearance and police certification
You need to collect POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE (PCC) from all the places where you lived after age of 16. You can collect it from the district or state police stations. In that letter they will (or have to) show that ,"This person has lived or living on this address ,and there is no criminal record on his/her name". This format can be vary in ur country. Inshort, you need police clearance certificate which can shows that u dont have any criminal record on ur name during that residecny on that particular address.

You can visit this link ,if ur consulate is Manila, http://photos.state....tionEng_001.pdf

Fair enough, but no one should be surprised if the CBP personnel ask absolutely anything that they decide to ask. There are no limits on that.

Yeah ,you are right man. Everybody knows that they can ask anything!!!! We are just giving them hints, nothing else. Because some people think that there will be some type of questions. So we are giving them just hints that there willbe/should be these type of basic questions.

I don't see anything wrong about these suggestions. These are means to help out and not to discourage or anything. So, great job for posting this.

We are here to encourage and upbuild one another, I hope we will avoid not being nice to one another.

Hi Matt, absolutely you are right. The owner of this thread has asked like ,"I just wanted to ask again if there is anyone out there with this experience as to what kind of questions are expected at airport port of entry? PLease advice.". So he is looking for some basic questions. He also know that there will be some questions like it was in interview. But he wants to know some actual questions as a examples. So one can't say like that ,"CBP can ask any questions that were asked during the embassy interview" . This is not a particular answer. This is a common answer which everybody knows. So i clearly posted like that , "They can ask then only some basic questions. Like....." . So my friend TBone find that i used the word "can". We are here to help each other and to encourage people.

Unless you're the head of USCIS and you've circulated a memo with specific instructions, you can't claim with any credibility what will be asked or what will happen. The accurate information is in my other post above.

Excuse me TBonetx!!! I didn't say i m head of USCIS...... :P I have just given him some hints with some basic questions,i didn't told him that they will ask these questions. U can read it again, there is no charge. As they have cleared their interview then there shoukd be no problem. Therefore i have just given him some positive energy.

Dont worry man, it will not be tough as it was in Visa Interview. They can ask then only some basic questions. Like

who is ur petitioner?
whats ur relation with the petitioner?
where the petitioner live?
where will u live?
what the petitioner do?
what will u do in usa?
have u been in usa anytime?

all will be basic questions ,it will not be a big deal. Good luck to ur family.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage Certificate

There are so many ways to get married in India it is confusing.

I would say if you have a Certificate of Registration and a Memorandum of Marriage you should submit both of these items. Simply because you cannot determine which is the right one and also because both of them are related to the court documentation for your marriage in India.

 In past the gov offices used to issue "The Memorandum of Marriage Certifcate" but now a days mostly at all places they issue "The Certificate of Registration of Marriage".Thus both are valid. So just send both of them, they will use whatever they like ....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow often do people fail the interview?

Hi, I applied for K3 last year, and we have been living in Florida for almost a year now (we moved here October 21st, 2009...and my interview was just over a year ago, October 8th...ahhh, the memories!). :)

I wouldn't worry to much about the interview. You guys are already married, and the only reason I could think of where your wife can get denied is if she had a criminal or civil conviction (based on NBI records) or if she was ineligible due to her medical results. She should just be relaxed, and know how to answer basic questions about you and your relationship (like how you met and such). She should also have with her a copy of the petitions and the supporting documents that came with them (sometimes Embassy people lose stuff and you just want to be prepared...I walked in there with a briefcase chock-full of stuff in case they needed anything...never underestimate the value of a piece of paper. :) )

Click here and scroll down to give your wife an idea about how our interview went and the questions the Immigration Officer asked me and my daughter: http://www.visajourn...le.php?id=64018

It's all a formality...the IO even apologized that we had to wait so long (during the whole visa process, that is). lol God bless you both, I'm sure your wife will pass with flying colors and bring home the pink slip!
