CanadaGetting everything in order
QUOTE (TheATeam @ Apr 10 2008, 04:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey all, I apologize if this has been asked a bazillion times before but I've searched and I can't seem to find the answer. On the Embassy review page it says that we need form OF-156/DS-156. Is that one or the other? I've filled out and printed off DS-156 but want to know if I need OF-156 as well. Also, it says to bring OF-167 and attachment, well, I've looked high and low and all I have is the attachment. Is this normal? Do I have to go somewhere to find and download OF-167?

Just a little bit of a freak out you know! I need to freak out about something! tongue.gif I just really want to make sure everything's in order. Having the medical after the interview has gotten me on edge enough. I just don't want anything else to go backwards!

Thanks!

I know nothing about the OF-156 but you do need the OF-167 and that isn't downloadable. I will see if I can find a copy of a blank one and send it to you. I would just worry about what they told you on the checklist.

CanadaVancouver Interview
Hi ALL

Well I am just getting things in order for my Monday interview. Does anyone know do I have to get reprints of my pictures for the consulate to keep or do they just look at them. Or can you just photo copy them for there records. Should I bring a whole album or just a few?

Kerri

CanadaI have arrived!
QUOTE (TheATeam @ Apr 27 2008, 10:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well, I got it all done. I arrived home from Vancouver on Thursday night, and yesterday I flew home to Boise! I'm sitting here using my man's computer, hardly believing that I'm here and I'm not leaving!

The POE was relatively easy. The officer had never processed a K1 visa before so he had his guide manual out and just followed that. My dog Kaia and I just sat in the room while he figured everything out. He asked me when we were getting married, had me fill out an I-94 card, stamped my visa in the passport and that was about it. It did take about a half an hour though, so I was glad that we were there pretty early. The most nerve wracking part of the day was wondering how my dog was making out on the plane trip! I was so happy to get in last night.

Andrew had made me supper in the new crockpot that he bought me! He even baked biscuits, had salad, AND dessert. This coming from a man who doesn't cook at all! YAY! I'm super happy. I know that this process is a hard one, but boy does the end make it all worth it. (Well, I guess this is technically the middle isn't it? tongue.gif)

Anyhow, now it's trying to figure out what to do about a wedding, and then planning that!

That is so awsome! Congrats...As for me I have my interview tommorow and I am so excited. Thanks for heads up with everything as I am from Edmonton too. Best I luck and lots of happiness to the both of you, and Kaia.

Thanks everyone! Wish you all the best of luck and see you in the next process.

CanadaK1 Visa
Also they didn't even look at my xray they just told me to keep it for the boarder crossing. They did take my medical results. I assume they take my DS-230 tommorow when i pick up my visa as they never asked for it today.

They aren't looking at how long you've been in the US for a calendar year. They look at how long you've been in the US in the 12 months preceding your current entry. If you plan to go in January 2009, look at how many days you've been in the US since January 2008.

I visited for 174 days in total since January 2008. My last visit ended 31st of August and I won't be going back to the USA until mid Jan/Feb. If they are going to calculate it like that - I won't be able to visit because the bulk of my visiting was done in the first six months of 2008 ... crying.gif

My advise to you is make your 10 day trip at least 180 days after August 31st. Because it's said that you have to spend the most time in your home country. so spending over the time you spent in America at home would be very important.

My husband visited me 3 times here in the US and stayed the limit every time, he never had a problem until the last time when they said that he should look into visas because he was using the VWP so much. that was over 2 years. I had a problem going to England almost every time, almost having to fight my way through, always telling the truth and they sometimes treated me like a criminal. They've gone through my bags and held me for 2 hours and also lied to me about calling and telling my husband that they had me. not to mention that was my very first trip out of America! What a way to meet the Brits. The last time I went to England it was for 2 weeks, I had a note from my employer, copy of our visa paper work (because they don't want me to marry in England), a hole itinerary for the 2 week stay and they still kept me for about 20 min questioning me. I don't know what I did wrong, I never once lied and I never stayed longer then I was allowed to, I never worked and I didn't marry there, so who knows why I'm hated so much!

United KingdomHas everyone been enjoying the shortened time diff this week?
My mind is set in US and UK time (5 hours diff) so this weekend I'm gonna get more confused then last. I have 2 clocks in my room 1 in US time and the other UK.

United KingdomBritish Citizenship For My American Wife
I can have dual US/UK citizenship.. even being a US citizen.. my understanding of the US was that if you want citizenship of another country that means you're giving up your US citizenship? I'm confused. but would love to eventually have UK citizenship.

United KingdomHome For Christmas!!
My hubby never had trouble coming to the US through Newark. they only questioned him the last time and said he should look into visas but every time I go to England through LHR they give me a really hard time. I feel like I have to fight my way in. I always tell the truth, leave on time. but it's like they see me coming. only went 3 times and he came here 3 times but for the whole 90 days every time.

United KingdomVisiting
We haven't filed AOS yet, so it's a bit soon to be worrying but I'm worried about the next time I travel to England with my husband. Every time I went to England, I had problems getting in. They never believed I wasn't going to stay. I got held for hours and questioned. I had every proof I could possibly need that I was returning to the US and never once over stayed. Never did anything wrong when I was there and left the day I said I was leaving, yet every time I have gotten harassed. Now that I'm married I feel that they'll think I'm going to stay even more so. My husband says it's better being married but I just don't believe it. We won't be visiting for long but I had the worst time when I said I was only staying 2 weeks! So I'm dreading this!

I was wondering if anyone has experience visiting after marriage.

Is there any type of visa I can get or I need to get just to visit?

United Kingdomupdated, signed, letter of intend for embassy.
They didn't ask for ours at the interview. If they ask for it at the interview and you don't have it then you'll most likely get approved pending that and you just have to send that back but the only time I've seen that happen was when the interview took place after the NOA2 expired and in that case the letter of intent needs to be notarized like the affidavit.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with him again and he said that it's just pending those updated co-sponsor docs.

He said the man said he will get his visa if he can get the documents there in time -- when/if he can get the documents he is to call the courier number and they will pick up and deliver them to the embassy for him. Then a visa will be delivered back to him. Hoping.

Did he ask specific to K-1 visa? or just if a visa could be picked up same day? because it could matter the type of visa. just a thought.

yes, I agree with Damian. My Damian received his visa within 5 days and also before 10.. actually around 7am. and he didn't pay extra, as we weren't in any hurry! I made him take off work to wait for it, he ended up just having the day off cause it came before he would have even left any ways.
