Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionVSC to CSC transfer
QUOTE (LastSurvivor @ Apr 5 2009, 07:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Should I call? We are leaving April 15th for Thailand. We still have 9 days to get the magic letter and with a LOT of luck the PGC in the mail but I'm not feeling to optimistic. I'm also sweating that while we are away we will get a nice little RFE or letter for an interview in Atlanta. I guess as long as we have the one year extension letter all will be okay and someone will be checking the mail for me. wacko.gif I just knew with a transfer date to CSC of 2/25 that all would be perfect with the world. Certainly did not expect it until after the trip if it had stayed at VSC. It really is NEVER easy.

LS

Don't forget to bring your biometrics letter with you if you don't receive the card before you go.......just so you don't get any grief as a couple of people have mentioned on another thread. I'll be hoping and praying you get the card before you go!! Have a lovely time in Thailand- somewhere I've always wanted to go!

Three guesses on what just came in today's mail............................no not an approval- the transfer notice, dated March 18!!! Wow, it took 9 days to go from Vermont to upstate NY?! blink.gif If I was Daniel M. Renaud, I'd be too embarrassed to list my real name above the title "Center Director".

No touches since biometrics (not that I expected any). Just tortured myself by sneaking a peek at the CSC list- approvals for people who filed AFTER my husband. Why is the VSC so much crapper than the CSC??? mad.gif

Hey can someone add us? I- 751 sent today- August 4. I'm fully expecting my husband to be naturalized before we ever see his 10 year green card. The time frame is completely ridiculous. As a side note, we won't be travelling out of the country until he gets his US passport next year- flew back from a family trip to the UK a few days ago- entered through JFK. My husband got pulled aside (holding our 2 year old American citizen child) with no reason given. Put into a room and made to wait. No one would answer any questions, though believe me I asked repeatedly what the problem was and why he was singled out despite holding a valid green card. Literally blanked by the Dept of Homeland Security staff. Just as my 9 year old was starting to really freak out about the whole thing ("is Daddy in trouble?") my husband's name was called, passport and green card put on the desk without a word spoken. No explanation, no questions asked. Nothing. Not even the courtesy of handing his passport to him- it was just left sat on the desk. I felt angry and harrassed- I'm fed up with this whole thing. mad.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChange of plans
I am so sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis of cancer. I think you are making the right decision in going to England, if you are able, rather than coming to the US. You do not need the stress of trying to get immigration paperwork sorted out, as well as trying to get your husband insurance to cover this pre-existing condition as well as sorting out doctor's, hospitals, etc all far away from his family and familiarity. It's hard enough as it is. I lived in the UK with my husband and my spouse visa took approximately 2 hours, with work authorization, and most of that time was just waiting time. I was able to go online and choose the convenient date for me to go to the interview (I was already in the UK at the time under a fiance visa). I am under the impression that if you are in the US, you can apply for a UK spouse visa online at your local British consulate and receive your visa the same day if you go in or else a few days later if you mail it in (that's the way the fiance visa worked two years ago when I did it). I loved living in England and adjusted very easily there- if it wasn't for family commitments that were unavoidable, we would still be living there.
Good luck to you and God bless.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow does it all work help please???
As an American citizen married to my British husband, it's my opinion things aren't any easier for UK spouses. Unfortunately, time apart is just one of the things you have to accept when you are going through the American immigration process. I had to live apart from my husband while I was pregnant with his child, so I can tell you it's not easy! In my personal opinion, unless there is some reason, I would suggest your fiance go to the UK for the first few years of marriage. I obtained a UK fiance visa in less than 2 weeks without an interview. I could have obtained it in a few hours if I'd gotten off my rear and driven down to NYC. I obtained my Spouse visa with work rights in 2 hours in Liverpool. It was extremely easy in comparison to the US immigration process. If you are both determined you are going to live in the US, my suggestion is to read all of the information offered on this excellent site, start getting your paperwork in, and be prepared to spend time apart for awhile. If I am correct, I don't believe you are allowed to visit the US while the visa is pending- at least that was the situation when my husband applied. It took 6 months from date of application until my husband was approved in London. Not a great situation, but many many of us survive it even though it is total ####### going through it. You will find all the detailed information you need by doing your research, though please feel free to ask specific information if you get stuck. I don't think anyone on this board would be able to go through this process without help and support. Good Luck.

I haven't been on visajourney too much lately, but I did check into the waivers forum today to see how you were doing and was very distressed to see your news. United KingdomUK Visa advice
I have no idea if there would be any difference coming from Morocco rather than the US, but I had a UK fiance visa. We had to show: proof of our relationship (there was no time frame, we just had to prove we'd met in person), proof of my husband's income and finances to show he could support me for 6 months (the length of the visa) so I wouldn't become a public charge, and proof that we were able to be legally married (ie. we had both been previously divorced so we had to show divorce documents). It was a very easy process- I was able to fill out the application on line and mail the documents in. No interview is required (at least for US citizens)- it took about 4 days if I remember correctly. I could have taken the option of going to the British embassy and receiving the visa that day if I wanted as well- you are able to choose your own embassy date on line. Go to www.uk-yankee.com. They have brilliant visa advice (but they don't tend to be overly friendly). Good luck.

United KingdomBritish Television
The Book Group is hilarious. No one has mentioned The Royal Family, which is class. We also love Teachers. We recently acquired all of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. My husband downloaded some sort of bit torrent thing (forget what it's called) and we download UK tv all the time- he's sorted it so he can put it on rewritable dvd- I keep up with Corrie, we also watched Springwatch, we get Jonathon Ross, Buzzcocks, we have seen Suburban Shootout. The only catch with this is you are about a week behind, it's difficult to sort out, and if it's on dvd they don't have it. PM if anyone wants info on this- I can get my husband to walk you through it.

United KingdomWho Gives in first?
I really agree with Jaylen Brit- some of the best advice I ever got was "do you want to be happy or be right?" and "it's not the getting, it's the keeping". Not that it makes it any easier when I just bloody well KNOW I'm right!

United KingdomGoing to an English BBQ, recipe ideas and can we get golden syrup in the grocery store?
The only foods I've ever seen at English BBQ's are sausages on the grill, my husband's foil packets of peppered mackerel, mini gherkins, garlic bread, the afore-mentioned cheese and onion on cocktail sticks- for sweets maybe a victoria sponge or a fondant covered cake.....not what an American would typically call a barbecue. We never once had Heinz baked beans at a BBQ- those are generally reserved for cheesy bean spuds in front of the television or served on top of toast. The one constant at any English bbq I've ever been to is I always leave hungry. When my father-in-law and his "old dear" were visiting us for 3 weeks in early June, they were overwhelmed by the amount of food and variety served at our American bbq's (but they loved it). My two English nieces have gotten very into S' mores at BBQ's since I introduced them to that a few years ago. We constantly send Hershey bars and graham crackers over to the UK.

United Kingdomhow long until the visa interview in London?
We got our interview date within a couple of weeks- I admit that I emailed the embassy on a DAILY basis- sometimes a few times daily- until the date was given. This was back in January.
shakysgirlNot TellingEngland2006-08-18 06:24:00
United KingdomInterview Thursday....together Friday
I personally think you should have travelled to the UK, rather than the other way around. But make sure he has all his documentation including a letter from his job stating which day they expect him back, mortgage statements, bank statements, etc. Also, I would bring copies of his K-1- including information regarding having his medical. The interview usually comes shortly after the medical (it did for us and I know a lot of others- it was within weeks) and I don't think they would normally expect someone to illegally immigrate when they are in that late stage of a K-1 visa. Just be prepared and have a great visit!

United Kingdomvisa interview dress up or casual?
We wore "smart casual" clothes. Hubby wore standard outfit of Levis and button down floral shirt. I wore skirt, boots, sweater. We saw all sorts at the interview though- from sort of smeggy jeans and t-shirts to suits and dresses. Wear what makes YOU comfortable and what you feel confident in. I'll never forget the couple next to us- he was British, she was American. He wore an ill- fitting suit, she had on horrendous high waisted jeans, a mickey mouse t-shirt, and an embroidered mickey mouse jean jacket. They were nervous as hell- he kept rubbing her back- she was practically in tears the whole wait. I saw them get called up and they bounced out with huge smiles on their faces- I inferred that as a successful visa interview. So all in all, I don't think clothing makes the couple, if you know what I mean.

United KingdomLondon Interviews 2006 (NEW)

Hi everybody,

My husband had his interview in London this morning, and could you please update me on the list to.........APPROVED!!!!! Wow I've been waiting a year to say that!!

I am so relieved/happy/exhausted....and I wasn't even at the interview! :D I've been awake nearly all night, though, worrying.....

My husband said he was in and out of the embassy in London within 2 hours. They didn't ask him ANY questions at all, just took his documents and then called him up again for fingerprints and told him he was approved!

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone on VJ , you have been so helpful to me over the past year....I don't know how I would have known half of what I do without this site. It really is appreciated.

I am reunited with my hubby in exactly one week! Im so happy.

Congratulations!!!!
