K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresnot enough space on g-325a

ok so what should i do if the space provided like the employers are or some address doesn't fit and can't type it in? what can i do with this, i have the same problem on the i-129f also.

2 choices...

1) any info you cant fit in by typing can be hand written afterwards.

2) write a supplement for each question where you cant fit the answer in the space provided... just make sure you correctly label the question and the supplement to correspond to each other.

i would go with #2 for the employers part but if its just a date or a few letters that you cant fit in then #1 just be fine

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions regarding DS-156

First off, We want to thank everyone on VJ for being so helpful and supportive to us. :) Would anyone like to take a stab a the below questions? Thank you!!

1) What to write as a city and province in place of issuance section. i put the town where i live for city... and then my county for province. i wasnt sure myself what to put lol.

2) "who will pay for your trip"? background info: My fiance, a UK beneficary, will be paying for his plane ticket and has saved enough to contribute to supporting us the first few months before he is eligible to work. For this question, should we put the beneficiary, myself or our co-sponsor? i put "myself". i am the UK beneficiary

3) "Additional visits to USA" My fiancee visited a few times when he was young (under 18) but cannot remember the dates. Do we need to list dates when he was under 18? not sure but normally best to list things if your unsure

4) "have you ever been granted a US visa?" Does this include Esta visa waiver? no because it is a visa waiver meaning no visa is required

Dan & JenniMaleEngland2012-02-23 11:20:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPossible changes to employment
your worrying about nothing i think... immigration are far more concerned about your ability to support him once he gets to the US than they are about his employability. do what is best for him and his health. i cant see any issues whatsoever with him taking the severance.

all you have to do is fill in the forms with the correct info at the time so there is no need to do anything as far as changing info once the I-129F is filed.

he shouldnt have a problem visiting you but strong proof of ties to the UK is very important... a mortgage agreement is a good start.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccines for medical exam

I don't need the Hep A and B?
that is actually pretty good news, since the other shots can be done in one or two shots :D

thanks for the response! :D

yep, that's us ^^

no you dont need Hep A or B. if you have the required shots at the medical then you will probably have MMR, TD/TDaP, and Flu if it is Flu season. the MMR is a 2 shot vaccination but if you have the first shot at the medical then the 2nd shot isnt required as it will be marked on the vaccination form as "insufficient time interval". tell them you had chickenpox and you are excused the Varicella vaccination. all other vaccinations if you are over the age of 18 will be marked as "not age appropriate".
Dan & JenniMaleEngland2012-02-23 17:10:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccines for medical exam

70 euros for that isn't that bad for those shots, so if he didn't have anything to begin with (or no records of it) and only had to get those... it sounds like im good :D
thanks for the info! and I added the timeline of us, my fiancee already had it on her profile, so I stole hers  (okay, copied)

Boef :P
Anyways good to know that we won't be stuck without one another for 7 months trying to get all his vaccinations in order..That almost sounds bad, reminds me of the time my parents threatened to take me to the Vet and have a chip put in me

Anyway thanks everyone for all your help!

i thought i recognised the approved on valentines day story :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccines for medical exam
first off... vaccinations are not required for the K1 visa... they are required for AOS in the US. it is just easier and normally far cheaper to have them done in your own country. if you have the required vaccines at the medical then you only need the first shot out of the series... the rest of the series is marked as "insufficient time interval" on the vaccination form. if you have them done before the medical then you need to have as many from the series as time allows... the day of your medical is the cut off day.

here in the UK anyone aged between 19 and i think 59 only needs MMR, TDaP/TD, and possibily the flu vaccine if it is flu season... not sure what is required in your country though

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting on holiday after K1 approval but before marriage

Sorry, I a probably being rather naive but it isn't obvious.

So therefore the K1 overrides the B1/B2?

I want to use the B1/B2 one more time then use the K1 to get married. Am I not able to do so?

when do you plan on using the B1/B2??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 156 Error when filling online
try a different browser... internet explorer 7 and 8 seem to work best. if that doesnt work then try at different times of the day and try doing it on a different computer. a lot of people including myself had problems with it but it will eventually just work if you try different things :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiling for K-1 fiance visa following a divorce?

Read this thread: http://www.visajourn...-after-divorce/

and this one: http://www.visajourn...s-in-wisconsin/

It is not clear what USCIS will do should you file the i129F before the 6 month period is up.

i believe it will be denied. a member just recently got denied at USCIS level because she had miscalculated her dates and she wasnt legally free to marry until 5 days after she filed her I-129F

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes the K1 allow for co-sponsors?

Topic. Does it? I am a medical student in the US, my fiancee is in the UK. My mom definitely has enough money to sponsor her. I looked at the forms and there's nothing suggesting that.

yes the UK allows co-sponsors and the information will be required for the UK fiances interview in London. for household size your mom needs to count herself, any other dependants, and your fiance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo we have more chance of being accepted as Rachel is English

Hello

Just out of curiosity, will we stand a better chance of being accepted for the visa as Rachel is English and therefore speaks the same language? Is there likely to be just as much difficulty as if she were from a foreign speaking country?

the UK is one of the easiest countries to come from but its more to do with being such a low fraud country than the language spoken. most embassies around the world require proof of an ongoing relationship at the interview but they dont ask for it in London.

To answer your topic, I don't think your mistake will be a problem. What matters is the statements, the date and your original signatures.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes the dental exam actually matter?

The medical for me was a joke. I've had more thorough exams for a cold. They don't check your teeth at all, although I believe they did use a tongue depressor and look at my throat.

they looked at my throat but it was just a quick "open your mouth and say ahhh" and that was it

Dan get back on the left side of the road.

haha :D

this thread does raise 2 very important points though...

1) once a case has passed NVC then so much of what happens next is embassy specific and questions should be posted in the relevant forum.

2) all instructions whether they are written on paper or on the embassy website should be read... reread.... and then read again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresds156

Your mexican fiance will have to sign it at the interview in front of the IO when indicated, NOT before.

Just went through that process. If you helped her fill out the form, you will need to sign that portion in advance. Her portion on the 156 will done at the interview process when told to do so.

can i ask what makes you say that as that isnt what the form says???

yup for cdj they send u letter with websites and thats it! no direction on how to do each one. thats why its so confusing. thanks all!!

it needs signing in advance as far as im aware... it is the DS-156K that gets signed at the interview :)

I just looked at my packet 3, and the one that says "Do not sign it" is the 156K... no idea if this is Embassy specific. AR just told me that they do not get a packet 3 /shrug Posted Image

the way i see it is unless the form or the instructions from the embassy say not to sign it until the interview then it should be signed in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 question...

quick check.....
So im ready to send off....
DS-230 PART 1 ONLY
DS-157 X 2
DS-156 X 2
DS-156K

without evidence... is that right? and sending my DS-2001 once im ready for my interview...

how did everyone send theirs? recorded delivery?? does it need a cover letter?

thats right... just the forms get sent in. you could include a cover letter with your case number on it... it might help in matching up your forms to your case. most people i know used recorded delivery and have had no problem. yeah send the DS-2001 and cover letter once you are ready for interview... i sent mine a couple of days after my medical and it arrived on the same day as my medical results.

if you post any more questions in this thread.... http://www.visajourn...terview-thread/ then you will probably get answers quicker and it will also help others with having everything in one place :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 question...

I believe the most efficient for London's business model is this order--

  • Receive the 4 application forms (no personal documents attached).
  • Receive the medical results (about 3-4 days after your appointment)
  • Receive your DS-2001 Readiness for Interview form saying you have everything and the medical is scheduled (or has already happened) by the time they get the cover letter and form.

 this is the way i have done it and my medical results will arrive at the embassy probably on the same day as my DS-2001 and cover letter, so its not like im actually losing any time by not sending in the DS-2001 with the rest of the forms anyway.
Dan & JenniMaleEngland2012-02-20 20:03:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 question...
this is a great thread for UK members...

http://www.visajourn..._1#entry5138437

fill in all the forms... DS-230 part 1, DS-156K x2, DS-156k, DS-157 x2 and checklist DS-2001 and mail them all to the embassy apart from DS-2001... you can do this right now.

once you have seen your doctor about vaccinations you can book your medical... there is very little wait time between calling them and an available date so you will be able to almost pick a time and date to suit you. you could have the vaccinations done at the medical and but it will cost £84 on top of the medical fee.

once you have completed your medical and you have all documents needed for interview like the affidavit of support then mail the DS-2001 and a cover letter to the embassy instructing them that you are ready for interview... then wait for them to give you a date.

once visa is approved you have 6 month to enter the US and then a further 90 days to marry.

edit: you could return the DS-2001 and cover letter to the embassy along with the rest of the forms but if you do that then you need to make sure that you will have all the required documents in time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFee?

Am going to try the 1-800-375-5283 line; I'll let you know what I find out :)

there is no need as the 2 links are for 2 different things... the first link was for "visa fees" and the second link was for "form filing fees". your filing a form which means that you pay the relevant fee for that form
Dan & JenniMaleEngland2012-03-05 14:02:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFee?

Whats the current fee to file I-129f?

Travel.State.Gov (http://travel.state....types_1263.html) lists it as $350, while USCIS Filing Fees website (http://www.uscis.gov...000b92ca60aRCRD) lists it as $340.

???

the first link is from DOS and lists the visa fees.

the second link is from USCIS and lists the form filing fees.

your filing form I-129F with USCIS so it is $340

edit: filing the petition and applying for the visa are 2 completely different things. you file the petition with USCIS ($340) then when that is approved you apply for a visa from the DOS ($350)

The original was done 4/2011 in Egypt. On 2/29/12 we went to a civil surgeon to make sure all shots were up to date for our AOS. The CS didn't mention a Flu Shot as he completed the I-693.

if the original medical is done outside of flu season then the flu shot isnt needed for AOS. the flu season ends on March 31 so your original medical was outside of flu season
