Apparantly (from what I was told) the last interview is scheudle for 11 so they could take all day I guess depending on the complexity, but seriously I still think the TAT's are a little ridiculous.

hmmm...well like i said...I sent mine April 6th...normal mail...supposedly takes 4 days...that was over a week ago and of yesterday the lady claimed they still hadnt gotten it......I suppose I'll call again today on my lunch break and see because it's been over a week. If it is, then yes, I too will call sometime in the beginning of May for an interview, if they haven't assigned me one.

I hope it comes soon for all of us!!! I was talking to an English guy at the airport a few weeks ago and explaining to him the whole process and he was shocked. He made a good point of wondering why MTL or any canadian consulate was so lag on their times considering canadians don't have to apply for as many visa's as other countries, examples we get TN visa's which don't go thru the Consulate and students don't go thru the consulate either. You would think that would make them less busier than other countries!!! Good Point I thought!!! Last summer when everyone supposedly quite and they were behind by 6-7 months but come on guys get some people in their and working. You only do interviews in the morning till 11 what do they do the rest of the day? Ok thats my rant Ha Ha

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCo Sponsor

I'm a little confused by your post. It sounds like you're intending to use his mother's assets to make up for a shortage in HIS income. Is this what you're thinking? Also, what does "covered for 5 years" mean?

First, sponsors do not combine income and/or assets. The primary sponsor (the petitioner) is either qualified on their own or they are not. If they are not, then you need a co-sponsor who qualifies on their own. Two sponsors who each make $10,000 per year (for example) does not add up to a joint sponsor who makes $20,000 - it adds up to two sponsors who don't qualify, either of them.

It sounds like your fiance cannot qualify on his own income. If his mother is to be your co-sponsor then she must qualify on her own income and/or assets. Her household size includes herself, you (the intending immigrant being sponsored), and anybody else she supports. Assuming it's just you and her, then she'd need $18,212 in income. If her income is short, she can use assets to make up the difference. Since you are not her spouse or minor child, the assets will need to be 5X the amount of the shortage. For example, if her annual income were $10,000 then she'd need $41,060 in assets (($18,212 - $10,000) X 5).

A copy of her bank statement or letter from the bank should be sufficient.

Thank you so much for your help i really appreciate it. So his mother doesn't earn over the $18,200 as she works part time, but the inheritance is well over what we need for the difference plus the 5x. and plus she owns the home which is over 400,000. So on the I-134 form that i take to my interview i have had her complete it with the inheritance amount and the amount of the house on it and we put her income in for the year. Do we need to provide a tax return considering we are using assets?

Hoping someone can helpe me here. I have my interview June 23 in Montreal. We are going the safe route and going to get a co sponsor as his income last year was not above the poverty line but this year it was. We are going to use his mothers Asssets she has an inheritance from when his father passed away so the money is sitting in the account he was short about $4000 last year so we only need $20,000 as difference has be covered for 5 years. I am wondering for the interview do i just get his mother to complete the I-134 form and attach a copy of the bank statement that shows the amoutn in the account.?

Hi All, I didn't know where to post this so I figured i would start off with my fellow canucks!!! Is it possible to move your case to the vacouver embassy. I see that the Montreal Embassy is backogged. I would have to take two trips to montreal one for the medical and one for the interview. where in vancouver you can do both same day. I am still waiting on my N0A2 but was wondering if anyone knew if this was possible

CanadaPacket 3

The I-134 needs to be filled out for the K1. You will fill out the I-864 after you are in the U.S. and apply for adjustment of status.

I have another question, if anyone in this forum can help me not sure where i should be posting. On the Ds156 form it says other names used, i once was married should i indicate my married name? i indicated that I am divorced. Also what is a National Identification #, that is not the SIN is it?

Under the affidavit of suport it say for K visa applicants you complete the I-134 form, I thought I had to complete the I 864 aswell. I know I dont send them with the P3 i taken with me to the interview I just want to make sure I have all the forms correct and don'tmiss anything at interview time.

The A number is your Alien number!

Congratulations! You're a number like everyone else!

Seriously tho, it'll go to NVC, then to Montreal. Shouldn't take too long.

Where do I use the alien #? I am taking alook thru packet 3 forms and it doesn't request an alien # anywhere, (though i didn't take a look at form DS 230 yet) I know NVC assigns a number, but the only place i see to use that is on the cover letter when you are returning the packet 3 forms they want you to reference it? oh so confused, glad this website exists.

Hi all, i just got approved for my k1 visa last wednesday and have just received my hardcopy today. It says that we have forwarded this approval notice onto the listed consulate, and above my name in the beneficiary section i have a number that begins with A. wondering does this mean they have sent it directly to montreal and bypassed the nvc, i thought from vermont it had to go nvc and then they forwarded it onto montreal or vancouver, is it different for canadians

thanks fellow canucks.

CanadaMontreal Consulate

Keep calling DOS early morning, it will be faster. Montreal takes forever to reply to emails if they even bother, and you cannot call them.

Im calling 202 663 1225 for DOS is there another # you know about

You cant reach the consulate by phone.

The DOS will be able to tell you when Packet 3 is sent.

In my case it took 2 weeks for them to put together packet 3 (after the date I presumed my file was received at the consulate), but it was actually sent 5 days after the date quoted by DOS.

I called the DOS lastnight and they told me that it left the 11 and arrived the 12 as per what they see. i looked on the DHL website too and used the tracking info and saw that a my file left DOS on 11 for MTL and was delived and signed for at 2:23 on march 12. I will just be patient I guess

Hi All, I am going for my medical end of April. I am looking in the AOS guide and it says I have to include in my paperwork the I-693 form. Where do I get this from? Is this the form the doctor fills out when I am at my medical in the sealed envelope. Just a little confused!!
