K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPraying for I-130/I-129F APPROVAL!
Thank you Urge To Race!! Hopefully we will hear something soon... Hope your trip out of CSC and going into NVC is much faster (although I think the estimate is around 5-6 weeks now , instead of 5-6 days like before)... at least you are past the 1st step.. good.gif

I sent to 18 congressmen/senators/governor/California US attorneys/Attorney General now.. so I really hope to hear something in the next few days.. One of them already sent a letter to my home stating he will help out...

oh, haha.. sorry about that.. good.gif

Here's a new one for you :

http://everything2.c...node_id=1106360

An Alien Registration Number is given to someone by the INS when that person is entered into their records for the first time. This number is then quoted on all forms that 'Alien' files with the INS.

in other words.. you got taken for a ride.. =( the A# is just something for them to keep track of your case when (if) they enter it in their system...

I think they assign each an "A" number when they start putting it in the folders... in order to sort it for them (a catalog, perhaps??)

take a look at this:

http://www.rootlaw.c...c...pdf=1&id=34

What is the A# and the Alien Registration Number? Are they the same thing?
Yes, these are two terms for the same thing. The A# is a case number that USCIS assigns to certain people, and then
(usually, for exceptions see below) stays with you for the rest of your life, much like a Social Security Number. Most
people get their A# when they apply for adjustment of status. It is also assigned if you apply for an employment
authorization document (such as an F-1 OPT), a V visa, find yourself in deportation proceedings, and in a number of
other situations.
Many USCIS forms ask for the A#. If you do not have one yet, simply write "None".
There actually are four separate types of A#. You can tell them apart by the number of digits and the first digit. The first
kind is an eight-digit A#. These are manually assigned at local offices. If you have one of these numbers, simply treated it
as if it was "0" plus the number. Nine-digit A#'s that start with the digit 1 are used for employment authorization cards,
usually related to students. Nine-digit A#'s that start with the digit 3 are used for fingerprint tracking of V visa applicants.
All other nine-digit A#'s (these actually always start with a 0) are permanent A#'s and remain permanently with you for
life.
Therefore, the rule is: if you are asked for an A# and have one, always give this A#, regardless of whether it starts with a
0, 1 or 3. If you have both a 0-A# and a 1-A# or a 3-A#, then use the one that starts with a 0.

Congratulations Kalina!! good.gif good.gif Yay... now you can be with your loved ones real fast.. I have a question... how long does it take from the final interview to when you receive the visa in-hand? I was hoping to go back a week to China to support my wife for the final interview.. but I can only stay a week.. I was hoping we can come back together to the US... unsure.gif

I am so mad about this.. just because we apply one month late, we have to wait much longer now.. crying.gif crying.gif I actually cried this time when I left China... she made me cry at the airport.. crying.gif crying.gif I really miss her and want to be together.. why can't we at least get approved?.. That is better than nothing.. they say they are looking at our case now.. but they said they need up to 30 days to do a "REQUIRED INVESTIGATION".. these kind of cases require it, they said... I already work for the government, so they already did a background check on me... that is so stupid.. they should do background checks (and IQ checks) on these USCIS officers.. they should put quotas as to how many they should finish in 1 day... mad.gif mad.gif

How is everyone doing? I haven't followed this March filers topic since I went back to China (to visit my wife) for 3 weeks from 9/28-10/20.. I hope that everyone gets their interview and get to be together soon.. We are still waiting for our approval =( but we did get touched this morning for both apps (10/22/07).. good.gif Hopefully something will happen for us.. why are some people getting approved so much faster than others? I have seen march people and april people (like myself) not yet approved... yet I see people in July and August (1 person) already getting approved for the I-130... crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif now that is NOT FAIR... so just because we sent our application in when they @#(*(% up their system, it means we have to wait much longer? I didn't see any K3 approvals... but I did see a couple of IR1/CR1 (I-130 Only) approvals.. so how come I just can't go the I-130 way.. just because I sent in my I-129F too late? so there were two strikes against me... 1) applying for I-129F so late in June (after June 1, big delay)... 2) applying for I-129F caused my I-130 approval to slow down even more.. crying.gif crying.gif

fixing a "glitch" doesn't take 7 months.. the USCIS person told me that they are still having the 2nd "glitch" with the phone now.. Also, I just checked my USCIS Case Status, and the Last Updated date didn't change (because of my phone call yesterday).. mad.gif Now they are too lazy to even update the computers when you call? Oh, I forgot.. their computers have "glitches"... laughing.gif For buying regular things it is ok.. but this system is used for human lives... wife and husband being able to stay together... this is so ridiculous... mad.gif

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUNDER SECURITY CHECK
one more thing.. sorry.. so many posts here... I think they got to a "limit" on what they can do with the April filers, so they give us the "security checks".. so more and more people will be getting these "security checks" (collecting dust on the 1st floor) because it is going to get worse and worse.. =( I don't like this one bit anymore... so in fact, they NEVER EVEN had computer glitches or security checks.. those are just to delay people from getting their approval (because USCIS didn't prepare for the need to increase the workforce and computer systems)... It's just like if your company said "oops... we didn't print your checks this week / month... come back after 3 months to get this month's paycheck"... maybe something like this should happen to them... they should do a "commission" job for these applications... pay for the # of applications you can finish in time...

some jokes to pass the time:

USCIS is so stupid,
they thinks Taco Bell is a Mexican Phone Company.

USCIS is so stupid,
they put a quarter in a parking meter and waited for a gumball to come out.

USCIS is so stupid,
they got fired from the M&M factory for throwing away all the W's.

USCIS is so stupid,
they missed the 44 bus, she took the 22 twice instead.

USCIS is so stupid,
they asked you what the number for 911 was.

USCIS is so stupid,
they thinks Christmas Wrap is Snoop Doggy Dogg's holiday album.

and these computer "glitches" are stupid too.. who doesn't have a backup system nowadays (especially the government??).. even the government place I work have backups done daily (as well as tape backups and "cold" (offline/offsite) backups)... so I don't understand why they can't just rollover to the previous day backup (just lose a day's worth).. someone probably pressed a key and deleted 5,000 of these apps.. no wonder it doesn't show up on the automated system anymore...

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUNDER SECURITY CHECK
hi guys, just got back from a meeting... sorry.. jrmach1 , yes.. I am under security check as well.. that is what they told me twice when I called.. I also asked them who it was for (me or her), and they said they couldn't tell me because they don't know.. that is why I got all hyped up about the security check... before the approval, it should be security check on me.. the AP (Administrative checks) are done after the approval and before the FINAL consulate interview... anyway, I should be the one that is checked (I am a US Citizen and government worker)... guess that doesn't help much..

actually, I think these security checks are fake because some people from Mexico/Phillippines got approved in less than 3 months time (not like those countries are more trustworthy than China)... but I should at least have gotten approved within the 6 months time (just like most of the April filers... now even July filers are getting approved, so something is WRONG).. the security checks are just for them to delay some applications further because they are too busy.. just a strategy tactic..

At USCIS (Homeland Security Department) stage, currently, NCIC, IBIS and NIIS database checks are done, with the option, if warranted, to do additional database checks.

At National Visa Center (State Department) stage, a separate independent NCIC database check is done by in-house FBI staff in connection with information supplied in the DS-230. Based on results, NVC has the option to request full fingerprints to be taken at post. NVC checks can usually be completed in 24 hours. In some limited cases involving high-risk visa applicants meeting certain specific criteria, NVC also does Security Advisory Opinions (SOAs) before sending the file to Consular Post.

At Consular stage, there are three (3) Visa Security name checks done: CONDOR, MANTIS AND MORE ANOTHER NCIC (via CLASS)
[Consulate has option, if warranted, to run full gamut of checks, such as CCD (past visa applications & results), TIPOFF (DOS Bureau of Intelligence), NAILS (Nat'l Automated Immigration Lookout System), TECS II (Treasury Dept. database), TSC & TTIC (DOS Terrorist screening)].

Thanks YGandMAT for clarifying things.. but it seems they can use that as an excuse to delay ALL applications filed after June 1 to 16-18 months... just thinking about that is making me sad.. that's 1 1/2 years =( just to get approved.. so almost 2 years before she comes.. with my security checks done even at the 1st step, they will probably do another at the NVC level, and also at the Consulate level.. maybe we should all be terrorists.. it seems they "sneak" into the country much faster than us.. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif I just noticed something on our timelines.. is it because our I-129Fs didn't reach 180 days yet, so they don't want to process it? guess I need to wait until April 2008 to take them to court... thanks DivineMercy and JohnWendy.. it's been a lot of help talking here.. =) actually, what happened to your I-129F, DivineMercy? You should have continued with the I-130.. at least something was moving for you.. it would have probably been faster than waiting for the I-129F now to get approved...It should have gotten approved already.. is it because of their stupid rule of after June 1, 2007 it will take 16-18 months time?? That is too ridiculous.. FIRST OFF, we didn't apply after June 1.. our I-130 was sent in April (or earlier).. our I-129F was filed in June, because we got the I-130 NOA1 so late.. 1 1/2 months just to get I-130 NOA1 so we can apply the I-129F.. other people now are sending just a copy of the I-130 check sent in as proof.. hmmmm... we seem to follow the rules, just got screwed over.. mad.gif mad.gif people who don't follow the rules get approved faster..
