K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTrouble with addresses for Intent to Marry letter

Is this for the I-129F petition? Addresses are not a requirement for the letter of intent. Put the Dallas Lockbox where you mail the petition to, or put no address at all. It doesn't matter. Only the pertinent information and an original signature is needed.

True.  If one must put something, "To whom it concerns" covers everybody.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence for petition: Chats and Phone Records

I wanted to make sure that I had enough variety to bring to the interview as well as sending enough to send in with the petition.

OP, the above is crucial, and so is this:  Do not (do NOT!) listen to anyone who's dealing with an easier embassy, or to anyone who focuses only on the USCIS petition part of things.  Santo Domingo is not to be taken lightly.  Front-load your petition thoroughly and sensibly, and include a solid, reasonable amount of information that you want the consular officer to see.  Go atop any VJ page and click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy."  Read everything there, starting with the most recent, and pay particular attention to the worst stories.  Leave nothing to chance.

Two hints, the first of which applies to everybody:

1.  When you include copies or logs of chats, e-mails, etc., be very certain indeed that in none of them do you refer to yourselves as "husband" or "wife."  Yes, you know and we here know that it's cute and sweet and romantic and in good fun, but a consular officer will use that to refuse the visa and return your petition for denial.

2.  The petitioner's presence is required during the beneficiary's interview in Santo Domingo.  Allocate the funds now to be there, whenever the eventual interview will be scheduled.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIn Package 3

The responses from well-meaning members may be from their points of view in dealing with embassies in other countries.  I strongly recommend that you contact the Rangoon embassy directly, and ask them:

http://www.visajourn...mar&cty=Rangoon

I will add that, if I were a consular officer, I'd appreciate having as much information in advance as possible.  If you get no answer or a vague answer, err on the side of caution and attach your supportive evidence of a bona fide relationship.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I include my western union transactions in initial K-1 petition?

No bones (!) to pick.  The suggestion "may" have been helpful (and no one is questioning the intent to be helpful), but "may be" and "is" can be worlds apart.  All that matters is what each consulate or embassy does.  Manila seemingly hands out visas like candy; other places don't.  Manila may prefer that money-transfer evidence be presented; other places have turned a negative eye toward it.  Manila may or may not prefer that the U.S. petitioner be on the premises during the beneficiary's interview; other places have preferences or requirements that span the waterfront.

The point is that comparing apples with oranges is less fruitful (helpful) than referring someone directly to information about the consulate that's involved, without actually or possibly clouding the issue.  And this point is nothing to take offense at, either (although the impersonal nature of typed correspondence can lead to such a conclusion); it's just an objective reality.  Peace, I hope.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I include my western union transactions in initial K-1 petition?

This may be helpful. Taken from the Manila interview instructions. Other embassies may have different ideas, but Manila...

Manila has zero to do with Ghana, and in fact has zero to do with practically anywhere else.

OP, study these three areas of VJ:

1.  Embassy Info (link atop any VJ page) for Accra;

2.  Reviews: Embassy (link atop any VJ page) for Accra;

3.  The Africa: Sub-Saharan regional forum (see VJ forum list).

The typical and general advice given on VisaJourney is to bring Western Union receipts to the interview, but don't offer them or talk about them unless the consul asks for them.

If you still have unanswered questions, the good Ghana members in the regional forum can guide you.  Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE question

Should I use an RFE as an opportunity to do additional front loading?  I've made a second trip to see my fiance since I submitted the original petition.

An RFE is a boon, even a blessing, when it comes to the consular stage later.  Fulfill USCIS's RFE requirements, then add your additional evidence with a cover-page that says, "USCIS: Upon petition approval, please forward to the consulate this attached evidence of bona fide relationship."

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdding Supporting Material to My K-1 Visa Application

If you receive an RFE for missing information that USCIS needs, you can respond with that and also include the new evidence of your bona fide relationship.  Put USCIS's requirements on top.  Under that, atop the new evidence, put a cover-page that says "USCIS: Upon petition approval, please send this additional evidence to the consulate."

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHello! I'm freaking out :)

whether it's for USCIS or the embassy an [updated] signed and dated letter of intent from your fiance is strong enough and often sufficient enough to prove an ongoing relationship.

There's a considerable difference between an ongoing relationship and a bona fide relationship.  Also, for many if not most consulates, just an updated letter of intent probably won't be enough.

TBoneTXMaleEcuador2013-07-19 00:43:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHello! I'm freaking out :)

I think you sent enough, I had sent about the same things. Paris is an "easy" embassy, there is not need to front-load like for others. They even give back right before the interview most of it (copy if engagement ring bill, emails, Skype messages, ...), like they don't care for it, and they give you back all the pictures when you receive your visa!

This is the most pertinent information for the OP to heed, because it pertains directly to Paris.

For others who are reading and who will be going through a "tough" or "#######" consulate:  getting an RFE from USCIS can be a boon in disguise.  Satisfy what USCIS asks for, and, when sending it back, include evidence of a bona fide relationship with a cover-note written large:  "USCIS:  Please pass this material to the consulate upon petition approval."

Translations aren't time-sensitive.  Just include the "translator's certification statement" (available here on VJ).

You'll probably get an RFE.  RFEs are a blessing in disguise, because -- in addition to responding to the RFE requirement -- you can add new "evidence of bona fide relationship" for USCIS to pass to the consulate upon petition approval.  Wait for the RFE, because if you send something now, it will almost certainly never get matched up with your petition.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdvice on I129F

I am just confused now with the new I129F form . I had a question 11 attached sheet which no longer seems to be needed in the new form . Also question 18 is now 34a which I will just make a new one with the correct number . Should I try to find the I129F dated to when I used it ? Actually getting an RFE which I was upset about at first is turning to out to be good .  I would imagine this will delay the decision , but we need the time anyway .

Just update been 8 days still no hard copy of the RFE . I called today and they said " Oh I see you called about this before " I was like do they take notes ??? Guess so smile.png

1.  If I were in your shoes, I'd prepare drafts of what you plan to say or add, but not fill out any forms themselves just yet.  Wait to see the RFE instructions.

2.  It could take another week, or even longer, for the hard-copy RFE to reach you.  That's actually good, because it gives you additional time to flesh out and massage the drafts of what you plan to say.  And yes, USCIS notes the topics of calls (at least the good representatives do). smile.png

I wish that more folks here would adopt your mature view in regard to receiving an RFE.

Edited to add:

1.  Proceed as Kay recommends in regard to the edition of the I-129F form.

Then come up with a definite answer, Redicent, but don't speculate.  In addition, in the future, if you express an opinion, please qualify it with "this is an opinion only, on the basis of ____..."  You've been a member here for barely 5 weeks; you have no VJ timeline; and we don't know your qualifications, except that you admit that you're not a lawyer.

In my consistent observation, HT is one long-time member whose advice is highly reliable; Kay is among the most elite members currently active on VJ; and both are students of the immigration process.  Neither has EVER posted anything that they couldn't back up -- and either would freely admit an error, if they were to commit one.

Two wrongs don't make a right: "Well, I expressed an opinion, but you did, too."  It's my belief that the petitioner should consult a sharp immigration attorney (optimally, a member of AILA), phone USCIS and talk with someone above the Customer Disservice front-line level, e-mail the Manila embassy to ask what the consular requirements are, or all three.  Regardless, receiving an RFE is a golden opportunity to correct, update, or provide additional information for USCIS, the consulate, or both.
