K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShort Relationship duration?

USCIS cares only that you met in person once within the 2 years before filing.  Beware, and do not ever underestimate, the consular phase.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-94; second interview

The first response that you received was incomplete.

1)  If you're planning to make POE by land, and especially on a weekend, it's crucial that you call ahead to your intended port of entry -- information found here -- http://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports/tx -- and let them know when you plan to cross, so that they can have adequate personnel on hand!

I've been across most of the Tex-Mex POEs.  CBP can be incredibly busy on weekends, and, depending on the port, the agents might be overworked, hassled, and hot.  They'll appreciate it no end if you call ahead, ask for the shift supervisor, explain that you intend to make POE with the K-1 during a certain window of time on a certain day, and ask if they will (or can) have someone available to process the package without disrupting their other operations.  They'll probably be blown away by your courtesy, in fact.  If your intended time of entry isn't great for them, they can either make adjustments or suggest a different window of time during which you could enter.

2)  The CBP agents at POE can ask absolutely anything that the consulate asked you.  The beneficiary can be refused entry, but this is quite rare, because CBP figures that the consulate has recently investigated the beneficiary pretty thoroughly.  The foregoing information came from an immigration attorney whom I asked when we had the same question.

3)  Either volunteer this or respond with it if asked:  "We're aware of the requirements and intend to marry within 90 days of ____'s (beneficiary's) entry into the U.S."

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas My boyfriend to be with me at embassy interview?

Embassy personnel can lie (and have lied) when asked if the presence of the petitioner is required.

The petitioner's presence on the consular premises NEVER hurts and can help.

There's nothing quite like being refused the visa because the petitioner wasn't on the premises.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate for I-129f

The back of my BC is also blank. I made a colour copy double sided (front/back on one page--mine is tan'ish colour so a white page wouldn't do). I wrote on the blank backside, "Back of Petitioner's birth certificate--[name & dob], is blank by the county of [county born and registered in]. I signed and dated it. Simple. Give them what they ask for, and if there is a blank, write that it is blank, sign and date it.

This the best and most comprehensive advice in this thread. Read instructions accurately, interpret them literally, and follow them/answer questions completely & honestly.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhatsapp conversation- evidence

Cell phones (and CDs, DVDs, and any other electronic media) are not allowed in the consulates and embassies.

The typical suggestion is to print very carefully selected pieces of correspondence that express what you want the consul to see.  Print out the full log of your correspondence (message titles & dates).  Avoid (like the plague!) producing any messages or message titles in which you refer to yourselves as "husband" or "wife."  Consuls who see this will immediately reject the visa application, and you'll be in the awkward (and perhaps impossible) position of having to prove a negative -- that you're not married.

The number of pieces that you print will vary by consulate.  Your embassy isn't known to be particularly tough.  Go atop any VJ page and click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy" for insights into what people have gone through.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresall originals of the documentary proof

This means the originals of any "copies" that were sent to USCIS:  of previous divorce certificates, etc.  This is in case the consul wants to see them.

The beneficiary should also get a complete, exact copy of the petition package that was sent to USCIS.  This is for familiarity and review purposes:  at the consular interview, the beneficiary should be able to talk fluently and in detail about everything that was sent to USCIS.

Several posts have been removed from the thread, and the following post has been edited and returned to the thread:

I believe many feel like that too, so I can understand your pain.

What I kept in mind was that it's the very first step to a lifetime together. While nothing can really ease the pain of being so far away and for sometimes very long... it does help to know that this is the first step.

The removed material referred to deceiving CBP at POE.  CBP thrives on the truth.  The above poster is very fortunate not to have been thread-banned or suspended for treating the matter in such cavalier fashion.

Front-loading your petition package can help when it's time for the consular interview.  Go atop any VJ page, click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy," and study both the overall trends and the recent reviews for your consulate.  Pay closest attention to the worst stories.  Also search your regional VJ forum for relevant threads.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is your official home during AOS waiting time?

As was explained to me by an immigration attorney, the K-1 is a hybrid visa -- a nonimmigrant visa with immigrant intent.  (Note that K-1 interviews are conducted by consular Immigrant Visa Units.)  This is why it behooves you to move and shift everything to the U.S.; in addition, it can't hurt you when it comes time to file for Adjustment of Status.

If you have remaining or ongoing financial commitments or bills to pay in your country of origination, keep some money in an open bank account there, if it will make things easier on that end.
