IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-2001 Form has been changed
I got some information that on April 2012, that form has been updated, unfortunately I did not find any template.
They mention it is optional but I would like to confirm that. If someone can assist me I really will appreciate it.
Thanks!
Following the sites I checked for the NVC

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2001 Form
the USA Embassy in Guatemala, still has this post there on their website:

"The Consular Section in Guatemala receivesthe approved petition from the NVC, and awaits the applicant's completed DS-230 Part Iforms along with the completed DS-2001. Once the Embassy receives these completed forms, theapplicant is considered "documentqualified."

It suppouse until we send that form, they schedulle our interview...now, it seems, that is optional, am I right???

I knew the NVC made some changes recently, I am looking for a template to send it by e-mail.

I will appreciate your help!...thanks!

If you're applying for an IR-1/CR-1, use I-864 and not I-134. Send it to the address on the cover page that you print after you pay your AOS bill at the NVC.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresForeign State of Chargeability Please Help!
Today I got an e-mail from NVC,

I am from Guatemala my case # starts correctly GTM

But, they assigned me as Foreign State of Chargeability, Mexico

Could you please tell me if that might cause some issues during the process?

Question: Maybe Guatemala's limitation has been met already?

I looked for some information and I found this, but I would like to confirm that with you, according to your experience. <br class="Apple-interchange-newline">
I will appreciate your comments. Thank you so much!<br class="Apple-interchange-newline">

Foreign State of Chargeability - The independent country to which an immigrant entering under the preference system is accredited. No more than 7 percent of the family-sponsored and employment-based visas may be issued to natives of any one independent country in a fiscal year. No one dependency of any independent country may receive more than 2 percent of the family-sponsored and employment-based visas issued. Since these limits are based on visa issuance rather than entries into the United States, and immigrant visas are valid for 6 months, there is not total correspondence between these two occurrences. Chargeability is usually determined by country of birth. Exceptions are made to prevent the separation of family members when the limitation for the country of birth has been met.

but I typed like a regular e-mail, so obviously I did not signed it. Do you think that's ok???
Or did I need to send it signed and on PDF form?

Today, I got some forms by e-mail from the NVC. Including a barcoded DS-3032.

Should I re-send it?

Please give me your advice!...thank you so much!

thank you for your help!

Hi Analet, go to http://travel.state..../visa_4354.html to pay your AOS fee. All you need is your Case number and Invoice number. You can find the instructions there. After you pay the AOS, wait a couple of days for the status to change to PAID. Then, you can go back there and generate your cover sheet that has the barcode. Then, you send this cover sheet with the rest of your I-864 package to the NVC.

Ryan, thank you so much for your advice!

Moved from Philippines regional forum to IR-1/CR-1 Process & Procedures.

You can pay the AOS bill as soon as the online payment portal will allow you to do so, don't wait to receive anything.

The bar code cover sheet is printed from the payment portal, you will need to include it with the package that you are sending.

Hi! ...today we got from NVC:
our case #
the IIN#
and the beneficiary's #

We just got those #'s through a phone call.

I sent today by e-mail the DS-3032 (meeting their requirements)

  • Could you please let me know, if we can proceed to make the payment for the Affidavit of Support on line? (I-864 payment)
  • Or should we wait until we get the package? or at least the reply of my e-mail for the Choice of Agent and/or the approval for the DS-3032?
  • what do we need at the Immigrant Visa Invoice Center? (only the case # and the IIN?)

  • I have learned here on VJ that some of you have mentioned bill generated, what does that mean?
  • is that generated after the approval of the DS-3032?
  • Now, my last question is how do we get the bar code page, I knew I can create it, but does it have the case number only? is that necessary to be attached with the affidavit of support?
(I know it comes with the package, but we do not the package yet)

I will appreciate your advice!!!! thank you!!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIV fee reduction?????
What I am trying to ask is if now it is the $230+$74 security surcharge?
(In the past it was $330+$74 security surcharge=$404)

The IV fee used to be $404, not $408. On April 13th, last month, the fee was reduced to $230. The $420 you're looking at must be for another fee.

I assure you 100% the current IV fee is $230 so you can do a happy dance now Posted Image

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresINTERVIEW
My husband is a US citizen. Previously to our wedding, he came to see me two times.
We got married on Sept/2011 my husband came back to see me on January/2012
(it has been 4 visits so far).....We miss each other soooo much! :'(

We have been waiting ... waiting ... and waiting, we dediced that it would be better if we
start making plans about another visit until the last stage of our case.
We just entered to that stage, we already sent the AOS form and the DS-230. We got a RFE, For the AOS
and everything has been completed.

My question is if it would be worthy of more waiting to wait until I am notified for my
interview? Can my husband come with me for the interview? He would like to come
with me for the interview, but we don't know if they allow that.

I will appreciate your advice. Thank you so much!

...your current passport would be ok during the time it takes at the USCIS, but make sure to have the new one for the second stage, at the NVC,
there you need to attach a copy of your new passport.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 Questions 35 and 32
my suggestion is to list all her entries to the US as they requested
if space is not enough you can attach a continuation sheet for that item.
good luck

Hello all,

My wife resided in the USA for several years with an F-1 visa, and then 2 years with a CR-1 Visa. After that we moved to Japan and we are now applying for another visa to return to the US. She has had some trouble answering a few questions on the DS-230 form.

Question 35 asks her to list previous visits to or residence in the United States. During the years she lived in the US she made regular visits back to Japan to see her family. Should we list the dates she returned to the US from these visits? Of course each of these visits is reflected with stamps in her passport and I am just worried about any confusion that may occur.

Question 32/employment history - Should she leave no gaps in a ten year time frame and include all of the dates she was unemployed or just list each job and not worry about listing dates of unemployment?

Thanks for all the help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFORM DS 230 IS NOT UPDATED
REF: DS-230
the one I found the first part expires today April 30th. 2012
But, the second part says expired on Feb 29, 2012

My concern is to fill out that form and that the day of the interview, or before, they reject that. Actually it might cause a big delay for an application ...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDrivers Licence
Gegel, thank you very much!

Drivers licenses are issued by state authorities so the requirements will vary from place to place. My suggestion is that you look up the website for the DMV of the state in which you'll take up residence and find out what conditions you must meet in order to get your DL.
As a rule you may expect to take a written and practical test. Insofar as documentation you may need to submit proof of residence and domicile. Again, the types of documents required and accepted vary from state to state.
Good luck!
