I have to wait until the package arrives to the embassy and then I'll have an interview date  I just requested a new Police certificate online... And I guess it's time to start printing pictures and finding boarding passes and other stuff   Don't worry LoveMyTico and LucyBelle I'm sure that your files are already there and they will take them out and check them at some point before the interview   I thought you needed an interview date before they send out the documents from NVC. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	YAHOOOOOOO    Get on that phone a few minutes before 7am EST MONDAY MORNING to be the first caller !!   The AOS fee went to N/A for me when I got my Case Complete AND it went back to PAID when the satus chaned to "in Transit" !!  So I definitely think that is a sign that something changed with your case.      Waiting until Monday will be hard  but   enjoy your weekend and get ready for GOOD News ! !!!       I think you have a CC!!!!! Vietnam	cliaming my wife on my return	hey does anyone have a wife in vietnam they will be claiming on there income tax?I have heard you can but ha dn r block and some others dont any thing abut the tax number thing you have to have . thanks You do not claim a wife on a return as a dependent. You can file as "married filing joint" or "married filing single". If you want to file joint you'll have to submit a form W7 to obtain an ITIN for her. This form would be submitted with your tax return. You'll also have to submit a statement or declaration to the IRS stating that she wants to be treated as a US resident for tax purposes. Google IRS publication 519 and read pages 10 and 26 to learn more about this. The instructions for the form W7 include all of the evidence and identification requirements. BTW, I've used H&R Block and other tax services before, but they're pretty much useless if you have to do anything even remotely out of the ordinary. Good luck. Vietnam	So it's been a week...	Sorry to be a little off topic. PLEASE do not get married while in Vietnam. This will completely invalidate her K-1 Visa and you'll have to start over and file for a CR-1. Remember the K-1 is a fiancee visa and you're expected to marry withing 90 days of the beneficiary entering the US. If the beneficiary is already married when they try to enter the US then they are no longer a fiancee and the visa is thus no longer valid. BTW, great pics. My question is, who do I make the order out to and what do I put in the address section? Do I put the my fiance's name in the from section or mine? Thank you so much fellow VJ members. China	Chinese Hoarding Salt	So it seems the Chinese are hoarding salt. You can't buy any salt at all in Nanning and the soy sauce is running low as well. Hopefully salt will be replenished soon. We're leaving on the evening train for Guangzhou tonight and will be eating out for a few days but it will be interesting to see what happens. Anybody else in Guangzhou this weekend? National Visa Center (Dept of State)	paying AOS fee and Immigrant visa fee	I was told that Whatever Bank account you use to pay immigration fees, is the ONLY bank account that you can Use in the Future for That VISA application, they will hold account info and you cannot use another account if needed, so make a wise decision for the future, i used my bank account to pay online for everything, i don't like using bank account online but that was best option for me, because i know money is always there !!! How do you get to the option to pay online? I thought they required check/money order. Thanks. National Visa Center (Dept of State)	People who have filed W7 - For ITIN	OUCH! I sent my 1040, W7, letter signed by both of us asking for my wife to be treated as an alien resident for tax year 2010, Form 2555(foreign excemption), W2s from my wife as well with a calculation showing how I changed Canadian to US Dollars, and a US notarized Canadian passport. But I did not send a copy of marriage certification. I never read that anywhere but I might have missed it. Is a marriage cert mandatory? My bad. The marriage cert is not a requirement for the W-7 / ITIN. I'll claim tiredness and it being late at night as my excuse BTW, it took about 6 or 7 weeks before the refund was deposited in our account. I have yet to receive a notification or letter that tells me what her ITIN is. I did order a tax transcript for the most recent return and the ITIN is listed on that though. National Visa Center (Dept of State)	People who have filed W7 - For ITIN	Hey Guys for those who applied for ITIN for their spouse... is it worth it... like many of U I applied too... filled out the W7 to get an ITIN for my wife... so that i can claim her on my tax returns... sent a Notorized copy of her passport with that. Proof to show she is really a foreign citizen. also with that i sent a notorized copy of her drivers lic... and a letter stating that we want her to be treated as a resident alien... well about a few weeks now and i got this letter... from the IRS today... STATING: We need a VALID proof of overseas citizenship or residence... HELLLLOOOOOOO at this point i screamed "WHAT THE F***" i dont know who as handling the case but seriously... i sent in her notorized passport and driver license copies for cryin out loud... how much of a valid proof do they want... at this point dealing with USCIS(the whole Texas Fiasco), NVC(birth certificate issue) and now with IRS... im convinced they give jobs to anyone and everyone... 1) You can't "claim" a spouse on your income tax return, you file the form jointly with them, they sign the form just as you do. 2) In your situation, you can only apply for an ITIN for your wife by filing the form W-7 with you joint tax return to the address in the W-7 instructions 3) What is the purpose of the drivers' license copy? With the passport, no other proof of identity is required. 4) Did you send a copy of your marriage certificate? It is not mentioned in your post. 5) I'm assuming her drivers' license is from India, but it doesn't happen to be a US license does it? Why would they think that she's not an overseas resident / foreign citizen? If she were US citizen or LPR you would just use her SSN on the return. I just went through this process, and it went smoothly. I'm guessing there may have just been a misunderstanding on the requirements. Let me know, I'm curious as to how this works out. National Visa Center (Dept of State)	DS3032 Barcode	I filed I-129F petition for my fiance'e and got approval letter today. Now the case should be at NVC and they are going to ask me for different stuff. I was searching LingChe NVC ShortCut and going down the list; first one DS-3032. Where in the world am i supposed to get the barcode from? Should i print my own? should i wait for NVC to contact me? One more thing; this DS-3032 has to be filled by beneficiary and i (Petitioner) do not have an attorney. Should she appoint me as an agent? Can she email me the scanned copy of the signed DS-3032? or it has to be snail mailed? You may want to check in your regional forum. The LingChe shortcut does not apply for your visa type. Although your package will go to the NVC, it will not stay there for long, nor will you send any documents to NVC. K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	NSO Paper	Hi! I would like to ask if anybody has gotten the pink paper of their NSO marriage certificate. I thought the color of the paper is only yellow. The problem is I got mine in pink paper. Would this be alright? I hope somebody can help me ease my mind. Thank you! Mine is yellow. I believe they change the color every now and then and that agencies in the know can match the colors with the issue dates to reduce fraudulent documents.
