US Embassy and Consulate Discussionquestion

Has anyone gone to juarez and represent themselves? i just discovered today my lawyer decided to stop representing us i feel it is because shes a very busy person any information would be helpful

thanks

Represent themselves in what? What type of petition or visa is this concerning? I'm fairly certain that the National Visa Center is in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and not in Juarez, Mexico. Providing a few more details about your case and posting your question in the correct forum would aid greatly in obtaining a relevant answer to your questions.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDo we need CO-sponsor?

thanks girl.. yes we all have the supporting documents about it :) and we can include his military benefits everymonth in his source of income right? no i ddnt meant putting that canada form.. sorry im not yet familiar here in VJ..

we need co sponsor later on? his annual salary is $32,500 plus his military benefit of $6000 so he makes $38,500/ year.. do we still need co sponsor later on? thanks much for the reply :) i appreciate it!

If the $6000 is permanent income then NO, he does not need a co-sponsor. For a family of 5, $38,500 is well above 125% of the poverty level which is $32,712. As long as he doesn't live in Alaska or Hawaii :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134, Question #8 Pls help

Hi!!

Our I-129 F approved petition is on the way to Manila Embassy, I am now completing all the documents she need and our son for their interview. I'm about to finish the I-134 affidavit of support, and I am confused and don't know exactly what to put on
QUESTION #8,The following persons are dependent upon me for support: (Check the box in the appropriate column to indicate whether the person named is wholly or partially dependent upon you for support.) My fiancee and I have a 1+year old son and I sent support for him monthly but I do not claim him as a dependent on my tax returned, since his not living here in the U.S and don't have a SSN. Should I put his name on the line? or does the question only pertains if I claimed someone on my tax return as having a dependent?

pls help :help: :help: :help:

thanks in advance

Are you planning to leave him in the Philippines and stop paying for his support when your fiancee comes to the US? Probably not.
YES, he is your dependent.

You're definitely over thinking the question.

US Citizenship General DiscussionSSN for my daughter
From what I've read, you can apply for her SSN at the US embassy. That's what I plan to do once I get my daughter's CRBA and passport.

http://manila.usemba...v/wwwha013.html

Notice bullet point number two(2) and the phone number.

Oops, I forgot. I believe the requirements are the CRBA and passport. You can call and ask them to be sure.

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestions about N-400 application!!!!
Hi,
I'm not sure what's up with the large number of people on VJ who receive the very poor advice not to file their taxes. You'll almost always need to produce tax returns you're going through almost any type of immigration process. If you didn't earn enough income to be have to pay taxes, then you'd at least file to request a refund of the amount that your employer withheld from your pay. If you don't, then you're just throwing money away(literally). On another note, if you don't earn enough to pay taxes then your finances are probably nowhere near complicated enough to justify the expense of an "accountant".

*RANT OFF*

You'll probably want to go back and file for the past two years just to get any refund due and to have it as a matter of public record for your immigration/citizenship proceedings.

Hi

I have been a US resident for 5+ years. Now, I am filling my N-400 application to get my US citizenship. I have few questions about the application:
1- In the last 5 years, the first 2 years I wasn't working and I was taking care of my mom after the death of my father at the end of 2005. In year 3,4 and 5 I only worked part time and I didn't make enough money to file for taxes(according to my accountant). I just wanted to know if that will affect the acceptance of my N-400 application?

2- On the N-400 application, and on part 3: question F it asks: ARE EITHER OF YOUR PARENTS US CITIZENS? my mother is only a green card holder and my father was a US citizen but he passed away, should I answer the question with yes or no?

Thank you very much

Why don't you just send it on the 3rd or 4th of December and avoid the possibility of them rejecting it for being early?

Canadadaughter born in US Now what?

Hey guys,

Some of you may know i moved to US after getting married. Our daughter was born 4 months ago and I want to know if i can apply citizenship/sin/passport or anything else you guys may know. Appreciate your help. thanks

The title of your post says that your daughter was born in the US. If this is so then she is already a US citizen and nothing else is required. Her father and you are both required to get her passport.

George

P.S. You may want to update your timeline. It doesn't show you as having received you visa and moving to the US.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCard production Ordered!

Hi Everyone!

I have a quick question, I just checked my status on my Petition to Remove Conditions of permanent resident from USCIS and this is what I've read -

On December 7, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Am I approved?

Thank you!

hehe...what do you think?

Why else would they order a new card for you?:D

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhen to file I-751

Hello everyone and Happy holidays

Just wanted to clarify one thing. I recieved my conditional green card on Mar 16 2009. When can I file the I-751. The way I understand it is that it is within the time period of 90 days before your 2nd anniversary of recieving the conditional green card? Which in my case will be from Dec 16 2010- Mar 16 2011. Am I correct?. Thank you for your answers.

File immediately. You're within your 90-day window right now. I believe the 2 years / 90 days is based upon the issue date of the green card and not necessarily the date you received it (slow mail, etc.)

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionquestion about "how" filling form for ROC

Thanks George !

I am talking about the address to which the SSC was mailed to. Likewise, the PR and EAD cards were also mailed at my old address.
Since, I am providing all documentary proof for the new address and that is the address which goes on the I 171 form, do I need to
put in AR11 - Alien's change of address. This is my main concern.

YES! If you've moved, you need to provide USCIS with your new address via AR11. See this link for more information: https://egov.uscis.g...i/go?action=coa
Your new lease or rental agreement in your name, would also be excellent proof of your address.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionquestion about "how" filling form for ROC

I am living in another house since one year. But, My social security card has the old address. All other address proof have the new address including driving license.
Do I have to do something about it while applying for ROC ?

Do I need to provide xerox of my passport and PR card ? that's something redundant ? they already have all the record ?

I'm somewhat confused. Social Security Cards do not have addresses on them. Do you mean the address you have registered with the Social Security Administration? If so, just change your address with them, do not order a new card for this purpose, remember that there is a lifetime limit of 10 replacement cards. The address on your stub is not meant to show that you live there at the present time, just that it is the address it was mailed to/received at.

PhilippinesCRBA received today
Congrats!
I'll be sending in the applications for my newborn daughter's CRBA and passport in November (after I receive the NSO Birth Certificate). Hopefully I'll be able to get the interview scheduled for the later half of December when I'll be visiting Manila for the Christmas Holiday. Were you able to apply for you son's SSN while you were at the embassy or does that come later?

Thanks,
George

BTW, at the same time I'll be filing the 1-130 petition for my wife's CR1. I don't look forward to the long wait for that to be approved.

Hello vj friends

wanna share u guys... that i am so very happy and finally of waiting TODAY lunch time. i recieved my son US PASSPORT AND CERTIFICATE OF CRBA....

PhilippinesCRBA question
I tried calling that number in addition to two other numbers I know of when I read you post earlier today(I'm only two timezones different from Manila). I also got a "no answer" or busy on all attempts, but I believe they may have been closed or minimum manned due to the typhoon that just blew through. I'd try again in a day or two. Wish I could be of more help.

George

BTW: I'm still waiting for our NSO birth certificate so that I can file for my daughters CRBA and US Passport. I'll also have to call them so that I can schedule the interview during a time when I'll be visiting from Guam.

Not sure if this is the right place to be at for this.. but me and my wife have an interview with the embassy of manila for our son's CRBA on the 28th of the month. Now, we need to get this interview rescheduled because the payday doesn't land until the 1st. Tried to call the 6323012000 number and it just rings or its busy. Has anyone ever had to re schedule a CRBA interview and if so what did you do to accomplish this?? thanks

PhilippinesManila and Baggage Pick up
If you're well organized you should be able to make it, although carrying the little one will slow you down a bit. If I remember correctly, you'll have to take a shuttle from terminal 1 over to terminal 2 to catch your PhilAir flight. When you walk out of the front of the airport, any of the security guards should be able to point you towards the shuttle stop.

When I did something similar, I had to go from terminal 1 to terminal 3. I also had a little under 3 hours, and it was nerve wracking to wait for the checked luggage . It's definitely "doable" though.

Just a tip, when traveling with close connections, request a seat near the front of the aircraft so you can deplane just that much quicker.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussioninterview soon..hopefully

My wife just finished her 6 months sputum treatment and i just to know if anyone out there knows of how soon St. lukes will schedule her interview, I'm hoping everything goes well, this journey has been too long =(

Good to hear. SLEC will schedule her a new Interview as soon as she passes her new medical exam (required because original one expires after 6 months). Once she passes, they'll do it then and there and print the Appointment for her. Just note that there is not preferential treatment. Appointments are on an available basis at the USEM.

yes i called the Philippine Consulate and talked to the assistance.

she had advise me to call NSO and Local civil register office in manila.

also she had mention that i had to ask my mother to do a process of subsequence marriage and something about legitimate of child.

i dont talk to mother as often anymore so i will be hard for me to do that process.

do you know any other option?

No, I don't know of any other option.  Have you called the NSO to find out what the processes are to have your name corrected?  I know for small errors, the process is relatively simple.  But what you need requires many more steps of proof and verifications I am assuming.  Since the NSO controls the issuance of official Birth Certificates it makes sense to contact them since the Consulate advised you to do so.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionReport of marriage and married name passport

In November we gonna send our ROM packet I just wonder if it is necessary to get report of marriage and have married name passport ?

My passport will be expired in 2015 but in my maiden name...

It's not required to have your passport changed to travel back to the Philippines as long as you have your GC since your passport is not expired.

We filed the Report of Marriage at the Philippine Consulate here and we went ahead and applied for a new Philippine Passport in my wife's married name.  It wasn't necessary, but now my wife has a GC and a Philippine passport issued with the same married name.

do you mean ROC(removal of conditions)?

ROM - Report of Marriage

The Philippine Government requires its citizens to report marriages even if overseas.

HEY! Im not the only ONE! Im new here in this forum and met my beloved Bhe on friendster back in May 2008. I went to see her in the Phil July (my first visit and just got back from my second vist (15 days per visit!). Kinda hard being active duty military and tryin to get over there every 4 months or so.

I filed September 3rd and petitioned for her and her son. The first petition I put in the I-129F, G-325A for both of us including passport pix for both of us, my birth cert and hers, NBI, pictures, letters of intention signed for each of us. Im just like all of you going thru the long process. Wish it was like my ancestores when they stepped off the boat from England in 1655 and just moved right IN!

I might have came into a problem and just sent off the G-325A for her son and my statement of military service. I put a good cover letter in ther explaining what documents I left out, receipt number, our names and who is who, and etc. I'm kinda worried over that though sad.gif
