Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravelling with green card
My wife and I are planning to travel out of the country later this year. We just sent in the I-751 for removal of conditions. What do we need to bring with us so that she will be able to re-enter with her expired card? Is the NOA enough? Does the NOA count as an extension?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionATTENTION: TSC and NSC no longer processing I-751
Hmmm... too bad this change still wasn't made in the instructions. I sent my wife's I-751 off to Texas last week and was wondering why they hadn't cashed the check yet...

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionwhich name on I-751?
I've got a buddy going through the process right now and he's wondering which name to use on the I-751. His wife's maiden name was used on the I-485 AOS and that's the name on her social security card (they have not gotten it changed). Can he use her married name on the I-751 or does he have to use her maiden name?

Thanks!

Skemper, I updated my signature to include my timeline. I went through TSC and my petition got forwarded to CSC and then approved. It took almost exactly 3 months from NOA1 to NOA2.

Hello all, I'm trying to prepare for my fiancee to receive packet 3 from Bogota and I was wondering if anyone can tell me which specific forms will be sent to her. I'd like to start filling things out ahead of time. Thanks!

If we do send tax returns, can it simply be a copy of what I have in my records or does it have to be something official from the IRS?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressupport for I-134... in duplicate??
Ok, I don't mean to beat this to death... but I only need two copies of the supporting evidence for the I-134, right? I don't need two copies of the I-134 or proof of our relationship, etc. right?

thanks,

Well that sounds pretty stupid. What the heck do they need two copies for? Do the copies need to be certified as well?

It says in the I-134 instructions that the sponsor must submit all evidence in duplicate. So I've got to send TWO copies of everything to my fiancee for the interview?? Anyone have any experience on this one?

thanks,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDone and Over
I would like to second that for all you ladies out there. DO NOT pressure your men. That is the worst thing you can do. We men are just trying to do what we feel is right, in our own time and in our own way. If you love us and trust us and believe in us, then know that we will come around eventually. And letting us do it that way will lead to a much better relationship. And if it doesn't happen, then both people are better off in the end than if things had been forced to move forward.

That said, I know it doesn't seem like it now, but things will get better. Time really does help. We've all been there before, and life does go on and things do get better. The hard part is just getting through.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 part I and II
I'm filling out the paperwork to send to my fiancee for the packet 3 information, interview, etc. All I keep seeing (this is Colombia) is for her to fill out part I and send it in. Will she need part II at any time? The part that's sort of confusing is that the DS-230 (when I download it) is four pages, two part I and two part II. So part I says "page 1 of 4" and "page 2 of 4" so it makes me feel like I should fill out or send the whole thing. I hope this isn't too dumb of a question, but what should I do? Thanks for any help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat do we use for i.d. after we're married?
I may be getting a little ahead of myself here, but what happens after my fiancee comes here, we get married, and then she takes my last name? Her Colombian passport will still have her maiden name, and she will need to use it to enter her country again when we go back under the advanced parole. What name do we use on the plane tickets and that sort of thing? Do we use her married name and bring the marriage certificate? She'll need i.d. for check-in, customs, immigration, etc. and her passport will probably be the only form of i.d. she has for a while. Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBank of America?
I use Bank of America. I requested the letter at the local branch, it took about 5-7 days to arrive, and there was a $10 charge. Also, the letter covered the requirements of the I-134 EXCEPT the deposits and withdrawals for the past 12 months. It says if you need that then refer to your bank statements.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDAS certificate, Colombia
My fiancee has to present a DAS certificate at the interview showing that she hasn't been arrested or had problems with the police, etc. She has one that she got in November. It is good for a year and so is "current" but is one from November good enough for the interview? Anyone going through Colombia have any comments?

thanks,

JOe, you could also try to use any electronic itineraries that the airlines may have e-mailed you. Another thing to check would be your credit card statements. Sometimes they show the flight destinations under the ticket purchase.

When my fiancee and I come through immigration at the airport, can we use the U.S. Citizens Only line or do we need to go to one of the others? Usually when I come through Miami, the U.S. Citizens Only line is much shorter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis is crazy
I may be completely wrong about this, but I assumed (I know, I know) that Vermont is faster than the others simply because they probably don't get as many visa petitions as the other service centers. If you look at the states that have to file at Texas and California, for example, it seems to me that there's a good probability that they have a higher immigration rate than other parts of the country.

If this is correct, then a realignment would be in order so that more states would be filing at the Vermont center and less at the others. That would help bring all the centers in line with each other. If I'm completely wrong about that, then feel free to tell me I'm crazy or ignore this post altogether.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionOrder Of Items In petition

Ok so im almost there in gathering all my paperwork for the big send off. I just a question in regards on how to arrange the whole petition itself. I was thinking of having the cover letter as the first piece of paper they will see, then i was going to create a contents page numbering the pieces of evidence so they could go straight to the tabs at the bottom of the page for each piece so it woul dbe faster and easier.
The cover letter was going to be page one, then the table of contents, then the I-751 form, then the copy of my greencard, then the copy of the check.

Am i going overboard in the whole organization of this petition this time around??? Please, any helpful/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I think you have the right idea and it will show that you have taken time and put forth alot of effort to make it easy for them to review your documents. I work on immigration cases as a paralegal and we always tab the sections at the bottom and organize everything to make it easy to find each document. When I filed my petition, I ended up with almost 2 inches of applications and supporting documents. I had the G-1145 on the very top then a table of contents which listed everything in the package. It's important to put the names of both at the top left corner of the table of contents page listing Petitioner: JOLIE, Angelina and then the line below, Beneficiary: PITT, Brad. On the table of contents I listed in the first section, everything that is in every K-1 application (Petition, G-325A, I-129F, Letters of Intent, Declaration of having met in person, etc.) then I listed 2 sections after that which I numbered from 1-24: 1. Proof of Having Met In Person and 2. Proof of An Ongoing Relationship. Then I put the cover letter then the applications then the supporting docs then the tabbed sections with additional evidence. Each section of supporting evidence was tabbed with light colored tabs on brightly colored paper using the paper as dividers(I wrote numbers on the tabs which coordinated with the list on the Table of Contents). Also, on each of the divider pages, I listed again, the two lines with: Petitioner: JOLIE, Angelina and Beneficiary: PITT, Brad. I punched two holes at the top of all of the entire package and put a 2 inch ACCO fastener in to secure it all. I learned the best way to present a "petition package" to USCIS from an attorney that I worked for that had over 20 years of experience with immigration cases. We never had anything returned and he was told many times that this presentation allowed the workers to find everything easily and showed them that the person who prepared it was attentive and organized. They told him that it was appreciated and noticed. Of course it's not necessary to do all of this. I'm sure many people have had positive results without all the attention to details. It's just how I was taught and I am hoping that since the cards are a bit stacked against us, the presentation may help a tiny bit. I have been told that its always better to go overboard with information than to be lacking. I hope this helps...sorry if I over-communicated a bit with the reply ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of relationship
We met in Tunisia as well. I flew in to Carthage airport. My fiance had a really hard time finding a hotel that would let us stay as a couple but was finally able to locate one in Hammamet. If you are going to be in that area, let me know and I will let you know the name of the hotel.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP!! Need to apply for K-1 but HAVE NOT met!
I flew into Tunis (Carthage Airport) in May and stayed for one week with my fiance in Tunisia and then we went to Algeria to stay for 2 weeks with his family. I never felt afraid. I always felt so welcomed and every time we crossed the border from Algeria to Tunisia or vice versa, both Algerians and Tunisians told me "Welcome" or "tell your american fiance we welcome her to Algeria/Tunisia". They never gave us any problems and even went out of their way to make our crossing at the border as easy as possible. I was in the area of Tunis and Hammamet in Tunisia and then driving from Hammamet to the Annaba/El Tarf area in Algeria. The people either ignored me or stared but always had a smile (especially the women and children), I never really met the gaze of any man directly...so as not to show a lack of respect to my fiance. I never felt anything but safe. We walked late at night in Hammamet and we went to several different areas in Algeria and we had a wonderful time everywhere we went. I am blonde and the only thing I can tell you is that I made sure that I didn't make direct eye contact with guys on the streets while walking with my fiance (or any other time). If we passed by an area where there were men or boys standing, I always looked down or straight ahead. The opinion of American women is that we are flirts but when they see that you are not that way, there is so much admiration and respect shown to you. Of course, anyone who is engaged to an Algerian man and has a tendency to flirt is better off with someone else...Algerian men are very proud and expect their girl to be a lady who is completely respectable in every way and whose behavior shows it. Please don't think twice about going to ALgeria, its a beautiful, amazing place...I'm planning my second visit to beautiful Algeria and Tunisia soon and I can't wait to go back!! :) Good luck!!! PS my co-workers and even some family members tried to convince me not to go....I am so thankful that I followed my heart and went anyway...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F, Questions 10 and 12 NEED HELP
Hello, regarding the first question, yes, the certificate number and other detailed information asked for is in direct response to a person's citizenship acquired through naturalization. If the person is a USC there is no further information needed in that section.

as far as the 2nd question goes, if you are still in the country and arrived as a B-2 visitor then you must provide all of the information asked for....put that you arrived as a B-2 visitor, provide your I-94 number, enter your date of arrival and the day of expiration for your current stay per your I-94. It will not prejudice your case and anyway, you must be truthful and disclose everything asked. Hope this helps, if I can be of any further assistance, feel free to message me:) Tracy
