K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportscalling USCIS before overdue date

i just wanted to call to know what the heck is going on. simply out of curiosity. but i also understand it doesn't make much sense just yet.
thanks for your replies!

If you're at 4 months, don't call. Chances are they haven't even looked at your case yet. Mine took pretty much about 6 months and that is pretty much the norm, a few may be shorter, some may be longer. Once you're at the 7 month mark, I'd call. Nothing will make it go faster.

Like the above poster said, wait. You are fortunate to be with your fiance. Hanging in there IS an option because you're already with your fiance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportspreparing for the interview

Hi, my interview is scheduled on March 25th so i basically have more than a month to prepare. I've already chosen our pictures that I'm going to submit, the messages and emails and skype logs are all ready to be printed. The western union receipts, plane tickets, bus tickets, are also ready. I've also requested 2 copies each of my BC and Cenomar from NSO. I still need your help though. :)

first, i want to know the exact size of the pictures that I should attach to the DS Forms. Should they be American Visa size or 2x2 sized? is it the same size for the Medical exam?

Second, should I already attach the pictures to the forms, or should they be attached when they collect them from me on the embassy?

Third, with regard to the western union receipts and tickets, this includes the VISA fee receipt from BPI, should i give them the originals or can i just give them the scanned copies and have the originals with me just in case they want to see them?

Fourth, the appointment confirmation letter. Is this the one that i got on my email confirming my appointment since i have set it up online? or is this a letter that i should receive from the mail?

Fifth, what should I wear for my interview? should i go on full corporate attire or smart casual will do?

And lastly, my interview is scheduled at 7:30am. Should i be there as early as 5am? or 6-6:30 will do?

Thank you everyone for always being so helpful. God bless you all! :)

I would just bring the pictures with you and let them attach them. I just paperclipped my pictures to my paperwork and they attached them themselves. I think smart casual is totally fine.

It should say on your packet 3 the size of pictures. I know mine were 2X2.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhere the hell is our NOA2?

But why are they approving August NOA1s before July NOA1s like us and lost of other people who post here?

The bajillion dollar question. It just is what it is. Every case and country is different and every case worker has different work loads. Maybe one case worker had a whole bunch of super easy cases that were able to be processed quickly and another case worker had some more difficult ones. While it may be frustrating, believe me, there is SO much to do and SO much that can be done during this wait. Vaccine records organized, researching moving options, police certificates obtained, filling out the sponsorship information and having your fiance/fiancee obtain all the needed docs for that, selling items before the big move, so much stuff that once you get that approval you're going to be scrambling trying to figure it all out.
JensJrny2RayFemaleCanada2013-02-20 12:49:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAnother dumb question

Why are you worried about what i post you have already been approved.

Personally, I'm not worried. I just have noticed you spreading this negativity around and it adds a false worry onto all the other reasons why people think they're not getting approved within a 5 month time frame.
JensJrny2RayFemaleCanada2013-02-25 19:26:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAnother dumb question

From what teir 2 told me it is a case by case basis and their time lines are at 5 to 9 months and 2 months to the consulate so you are looking at probably another 6 months in your case, you can blame that on the overload of deferred action applications that Obama has allowed in the USCIS system.

Before deferred action the cases have been taking 5-9 months. Please stop spreading this excuse for everything in almost all of your posts.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsStressed

I honestly just need some support with everything going on right now. We had to send out our packet 3 a little bit late but luckily they processed it all in the same day which shocked the ####### out of me but now I'm just overly stressed. I was planning to send out this packet earlier but we had to wait on my bank statements and my dad's bank statement and our work statements and now I'm a little less then 5 months away from my wedding and Montreal keeps having absolutely NO interview dates available. I just want him to be here in time and I'm freaking out, which I probably shouldn't be because it doesn't help, but I just feel like I have no support right now ): There's so much going on and I just wish I could schedule an interview.

From what I've been reading people are scheduling March interviews. Keep checking to see what opens up. Also, you can schedule your interview and if you see an earlier one pop up you can re-schedule. You should definitely have your visa in hand before your wedding, provided you are approved. Congratulations, and all the best!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPPROVED!

We are approved! As of 45 mins ago! Our case had been updated late in the evening (10pmish) for both our approval and our RFE review thing. SO they do work after hours! (I've read that some people take cases home to work on them)

But they are working. Soon soon soon!!

QUESTION:
Now our case is sent to NVC where I can call in a few days and get a case # and send in my ds230 and then it'll go to the consulate in Vancouver, and then I can book my medical and interview, correct?
Is this correct?
And also, me as the beneficiary have moved since we filed...how do I go about contacting someone to change my address?
THANKS!!

In about a week, call the NVC to get your case number. A week after that, e-mail Vancouver with your case number in the subject line and ask them if they have your case and you are ready for packet 3. They will e-mail it to you. Once you check everything off and fill out the form, you can scan/e-mail it to them and they will e-mail packet 4 with instructions on how to set up your interview. Once you go to their website and pay the fee you can set up your interview. Once you have your interview date you can then e-mail Dr. Cheema and request a medical exam appointment. They are slow to respond so I would put URGENT and your case number in the subject line. They will only book your appointment if you have your appointment with the consulate. Any questions, send me a message. I only just went through the process less than a month ago, so it's all fresh :)

Congratulations to you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMedical Exam

Hi Guys,

I just made an appointment for the medical exam. I haven't received my NOA2 yet but I'm optimistically expecting it soon. Since I have a large workshop coming up at work I wanted to be sure I could fit it in. Hopefully they is okay and they won't say anything about me maybe having done the medical BEFORE I got my embassy packet.
Also.... daaaaaang but 115 EUR, give or take a few depending of what vaccinations you need? If I hadn't been sitting I'd have toppled over :-p

Anyway, what I was wondering is this: what happens if they find something? I mean, what would it take for them to hold you back from traveling? As far as I know I am in complete health, but I do have a rather severe case of psoriasis on my hands, probably brought on by stress. You guys don't think that'd work against me, right?

Just want to get reassured I guess :-)Thanks!

Depending on your country but the exam is pretty basic. If you have Syphilis it will be a problem, if you have signs of TB it will be a problem, and if you admit to any drug use, it will be a problem. Your psoriasis is not a communicable disease, so you'll be fine. They may comment on it, but that's about it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTimeline

For VSC it is relatively accurate. For CSC, not so much, for the reasons I gave before.

Again, it goes in cycles. When mine was being processed Vermont was at a snail's pace and California was processing in less than 3 months. It all evens out, but a watched pot never boils.
JensJrny2RayFemaleCanada2013-03-06 13:00:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTimeline

No.

It is accurate for a small number who are approved, not for the majority. In this case, where CSC is processing only a portion of the cases (and out of order), these few "surprise" September cases are skewing the data. If the cases were actually processed in order (so the July 19, 20, 21, etc cases were being processed instead of late august, september cases), then the estimate would be more in the range of 7-8 months.

It was accurate for mine, mine was approved about a week before the "estimate". The data is an estimate based on others' data when timelines are updated. An expedited case might skew the data somewhat, but keep in mind that those who are on VJ are but a fraction of the actual cases that are actually received and processed. Igor's estimates are just a guide and should not be taken literally as every case is different.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsProcessing Time is unclear

Hi Everyone,
This is my first time posting to this site!
So, My fiance is from Turkey and we have received our NOA 1. We sent in our application on Sep. 14 2012.
In this light, our visa should have been processed by now... today is 3/7/13 and I have still not heard one word as to what is happening.
We have been checking our case status like crazy and checking the boards for updates and all it says is that California Service Center (CSC) should have our visa processed within 5.5 months. This date has come and gone.
However, when I go onto the master list for CSC it says that the processing time is July 18th, 2012. I called USCIS to have them explain to me what is going on and why there is this major over-site. They said our case was still ongoing and they did not know how much longer it would take and to call back on April 6th. I cannot do an e-request to see what is going on with my case either, because it says our case is still within posted processing times..which is not true.
So here are my questions: What would they do after April 6th? Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone had their case way off of the actually posted processing time? If so, how long did it take after the posted dates to get your visa?.... I hope this makes sense, please help!!!

If you have read other threads in this forum you will see that many many people before September are still waiting for their NOA2. There is zero point in checking your case status like crazy because it will just drive YOU crazy. Every country and case is different so it's impossible to say how long it would take to get your visa after your approval.

Exactly my point! Which was: they are definetly not focusing on jan, when there are still several months to go...and several cases of people like you guys and us!

I think it depends what country you are from. Also the consular officers were very nice and very helpful. I was asked about 4 questions. How did you meet? What does he do for a living? What do you do for a living? How have you maintained your relationship?

found this link online, not sure if applies to K1. Once NVC case is received at the embassy and packet 3 is mailed, could I use this link to schedule visa appointment?

https://evisaforms.s...=&Submit=Submit

Have you tried e-mailing your embassy if they accept them? You can let them know you mailed packet 3 and they may send you packet 4 via e-mail which will have the instructions on setting up your interview. That website does not look like the right one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCall Your Congressman!

It seems that the Democrat congressmen only care about helping the people illegally in the country and not about citizens or people trying to immigrate legally. Hopefully with the transfer of I-821D to the TSC the I-129Fs at the CSC will speed up. Just in case I wrote my senator who is fortunately a Republican.

I don't think being "democrat" or "republican" has anything to do with it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhats up with Immigration doing their jobs??

Thanx for that - i was aware = many years back - i brought a foreign wife here to usa -took 10 months -was before computers. Im seeing what i believe is a hold up =for us citizens that are trying to bring a wife or fiancee here thru legal functions. This "Dream Act" seems to have overloaded the system & that should take last priority!! Citizens legally filing for another should take 1st priority!! I actually -years back wrote my senator & congressman -with details on why is was taking so long to get a wife from another country? Within a month - all was approved!!!!!!!! There seems to me -there should be some type avenue?? to get someone / group of politicians on the band wagon to look into all this =time lines? I just do not know how or where i can go to get a process like this looked into?? any suggestions?

If you read the forums and/or do a search you will find countless suggestions to help you and theories as to why things are slow.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 I-129F time frame?

I forgot to mentioned that after my NOA1 on Jan 30th I recvd a letter saying that my Alien # changed. Anyone knows what does this mean?

That is common. It doesn't mean anything, your case is still being processed. You can also utilize the search tool for this and you will see this has happened to many other VJ members.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 I-129F time frame?

I'm aware that I have to wait, all i'm looking for is wait time for people that hv been through same situation. That's all.

You could also try inquiring in your region specific forums. My personal wait was 176 days. Everyone is in the same situation, so we are letting you know that you will be waiting at least another 3 months. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 I-129F time frame?

So like almost everyone here I also filed my I-129F back in Jan 19th. Got NOA1 (hardcopy) Jan 25th. And the wait time continues, on and on and on and on. Anybody else file Jan of 2013? Anybody knows how long will it take to get my NOA2? Country is Dominican Republic. Any answer is greatly appreciated!

If you are reading any of these forums or do a search you will see that many people are waiting. You are not even at the 2 month mark, and I'll estimate you have at least another 5 months to go. According to USCIS it is at least a 5.5 month wait. At least.

ETA: I took a look at your timeline, and you have incorrectly input that NVC has received your package. You should only have the NOA1 received. Removing this incorrect information will give you a rough estimate of when your petition may be approved.

Doesnt the packet 3 that you sent require police certificates/passport clearances also? Did you already have them ready when you received your Packet 3 via email. Or do you need them at the time of the interview only?

For Canada, I need them at the time of my interview. Every consulate is different though.

I just needed to fax/e-mail my checklist and part 1 of the DS230 to the Vancouver consulate. So, I just scanned and e-mailed them.

Hi guys just wanted to let you all know I arrived safely in the US yesterday and now I get to spend 2 weeks with my amazing fiance! Passing theough customs couldn't have been easier, i think I'm still in a state of shock! I had come armed with documents to show my intent to go home after my visit, I approached the guard who took my passport, he then asked me to put my hand on the scanner took my picture and stamped my passport! As he handed back my passport he asked why was I going to that particular town as there's nothing there and I said its where my fiance lives, he laughed and said he thought that was a good enough reason. He then asked me what food Scotland was famous for and this resulted in a 2 minute conversation about exactly what goes into haggis!! He then wished me a happy thanksgiving and a safe onward journey!! Can't believe I wasn't asked anything until after I had my passport back and then the 2 things he asks are a bit random! Not that I'm complaining.

Hope you're all doing well and hanging in there.
Gail

Yay! Have a wonderful holiday with your fiance. :luv: I'm glad everything went so smooth! It's usually a much bigger deal in our heads than it actually is once we get there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAugust 2012 filers!

This is my first post here. I am just incredibly tensed up about this whole process now. I have got my NOA1 on August 22nd, so to this day it's been 113 days and still waiting for my NOA2. My case is with Vermont. I am just wondering is this par for course or should I be worried about the length of time that has elapsed so far in getting my NOA2?

Also I would like to know and forgive me for being naive--is getting the NOA2 the most important phase/part of the whole process. I know every phase of this process is important but getting NOA2 basically means the petition is actually approved, right?

Anyway I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

Cheers.

This is par for the course as they are now looking at June cases. Getting the NOA2 isn't necessarily the most important part of the process, but it is the most time consuming; once you receive it, you're past the biggest hurdle. Getting your NOA2 means your petition was approved but there is still the interview process to actually receive the K1 Visa.

Keep reading and researching the forums. There is a wealth of information here!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsContacted my representative's office about late NOA2

Yep, anyway you look at it, they took our money, they are not performing the function we payed for. They seem to have plenty of employees for other applications.

Just a nice welcome to US government efficiency (for our foreign fiances/spouses)

I'm sure everyone else with other applications is saying the same thing. I just think there's more productive things to be doing than doing scenario math to make yourself angry about how slow you think their services are. If anything, they are understaffed. I do trust though, that the adjudicators are working as hard as they can with the work that they are given.

Hey all

Just stopping by - thanks to those who replied to me before, it was a while back now though so won't try and find it, but did read! Sk8rPatty and Pinkrlion, thanks :)

Congrats to everyone who is getting approved, I can't believe how quickly it all started happening! So happy Vermont are working fast again.

Unfortunately I'm still waiting, really disheartened since there's quite a few people now approved with the same NOA1 date as us, and after, but I guess there's nothing to do but keep waiting. Everyday I hope my fiance will tell me he got the text as I try not to keep checking the site myself! I'm going to visit him for Christmas so at least I have that to look forward to for now though :)

Again I'm sorry for not being more active here, but I'm hoping for the best for everyone always!

I'm sure you'll be approved any day now, just in time for Christmas hopefully. Have a lovely time with your man!
