K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2! In under a month

Very glad you don't have to interrupt your schooling to head back to the UK this month and can continue class from anywhere.

Thank you. I understand where you are coming from. I suppose I needed to do a better job of communicating our various nuances and issues in the future. Thanks for your help in the past, your posts where very helpful, even if we decided to go another way.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2! In under a month

So now you are going to leave school in the US, go back to the UK for 2.5-3 months (or longer if you are born in the middle east, Pakistan, India etc) to get a visa so you can enter the US with your student visa voided and no permission to work? Wow.

Well I have no permission to work, as my grad assistance is tuition only, and I work 20 hours a week for the team. All my classes are online for the last semester, which is all that was available.

I appreciate your previous comments, but I do not appreciate this one. It was our choice to do it this way, because we were uncertain about my status. They only confirmed grad assistance two days into the semester for me.

I understand it was the more expensive option, with more time apart. But we can and do accept that, it was the right decision in our opinion at the time of filing. So I happily stand by it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2! In under a month

I guess that was a subconscious thing, I will fix it. Yes I am that one, what ended up happening, was that they couldn't guarantee grad assistance for last semester as they changed their policy to not include international students, and then they changed their mind last minute. While they were messing around we decided to go this route. Everything happens for a reason, and we are happy to already be on this next stage.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2! In under a month

This is crazy, and we both totally understand how lucky we are, but today I looked up on the USCIS site, and it says that they have approved our petition.

We sent our package on the 8th, got our NOA1 e-notification on my dads birthday (August 13th), and got our NOA 2 E-notification on my birthday (6th September).

We had planned for a summer wedding, but some things are just meant to be, couldn't be happier to be marrying the one I love.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhen do I need to return to the UK? NOA 2 approved.

No problem, make sure you can get 2 official-ish proofs of address in Uk dated within last 6 months for your police certificate! :-)

Better sign up for some junk mail then :) I think I only get bank statements sent to my parents house these days. Although I am sure student loans have probably sent me a letter or two recently.

Did your petition included your UK address for embassy to send letter to?

Thank you for your response. Yes, I gave my current address as my American address, and then later provided my UK address when it said Foreign Address (or something along them lines.)

And Thank You! :)

i haven't seen my husband since january, i had to leave 3 days after we got married and now i cant even visit him cuz im scared they wont even let me in. i'd have to fly for 16 hours to get to him and it would be devastating to turn around at the border and go home, so we talk on skype every free minute not even hanging up when one of us leaves, the time difference doesn't make it easier cuz one of us has to stay awake at night , this is making me sick...

how hard can it be to check papers WE PAID FOR!!...its not like they doing us a favor....we pay for it....pay alot...so...hire more ppl and hurry up uscis :ranting:  i dont even wanna start thinking about the loooong nvc process though...

I hear you. I m kinda in the same boot with you. I agree!! It stinks bad that it takes so long. <_< I hope you get approved really soon and good luck! I know it s hard but try to keep your head up!!

Yeah, the amount is already there on the page and on the invoice (you get to select them and pay). It's $120 for AOS and $325 for IV so $445 total since they increased on 9/12. :( Hopefully it means faster processing!

Thanks  ^_^

I thought so too, since they increased it but it doesn't really seem like or they still have trouble since they had the glitch with their system in july

hey I have a question , just thinking ahead... for those who are at the medical stage... do they send you a letter stating what shots are needed or what places your spouse can go and get those things done? or as soon as you get NOA2 you go to a doctor and tell them your getting a visa for USA and they tell you whats needed?

You can get the necessary shot at your regular doctor. You need to have the interview letter to get the medical done since the medical is just valid for 6 months. :-)

That is a funny typo. Don't pee the fees!!!

My wife isn't home from work yet to actually pay them but I checked and I'm pretty sure both are unlocked. They both have the checkbox when I click on PAY NOW and I can click on either and it takes me to the actual payment page. You just can't pay both of them at the same time for some reason. I hope she gets home soon. I've never been this excited to lose $445...

This is pretty normal. :( The two times I called I had to redial about 50 times (actually 50 times, not exaggerating) and then I was on hold for 50 to 70 minutes.

I just noticed that I have a couple typos lol

I ve checked a couple times I got nothing so far. I m just confused how much to pay since they changed it. Does it tell you how much you have to pay for each?

quick question how did you find out about that your case was reiceved by NVC? did you get any notice or did you guys call to find out? my NOA2 was on 9/8......and also is there a way to check status of your case after its approved like on NVC website or something?

Well by calling they ll eventually tell when they received it? After you get your case number you can check on your status at the NVC. :-)

Congratulations! Welcome to the extremely long wait at the NVC. Our NOA2 was approved July 10, we've been at the NVC since July 21 & couldn't pay fees until August 12 (both together only because we have a lawyer) if you don't you have to wait & pay separately. All of our stuff is in now, last scan date for IV packet was September 23....it's 60 days to review from that date. We are praying for a case complete by November, but they are only working on August 7 as of today...that being said NVC wait is about 4-6 months without any checklists....then the physical & interview. I hoped my hubby would be here for the holidays but it doesn't appear so. Good luck everyone it's such a stressful, long process.

Thanks I really didn't expect it to get the case number assigned that quick. Yeah I guess now we need to pay the fees. It's been 5 months at USCIS. So I guess keep waiting :clock:. We ask for an expedite just at the NVC because I didnt know about an expedite before. My husband is in the US Air Force and afraid to get deployed   soon. I really hope and pray that he won't but you never know with the Air Force. I never that waiting would be so stressful  <_<

Good luck everybody

Hey Nadeshda, we got approved the same day. Transfer to CSC, right? Did you get a USCIS case status update saying they shipped your case to NVC at all? Because we didn't - USCIS website still shows "your case was approved on Sep 5th". I asked my wife to call by the end of the week if we don't hear anything, but I guess the approval notice did say to wait 30 days...

Hey S&A yeah we got the same timeline. We my husband got the NOA2, by mail on the 16th this month which says, that they shipped to Department of State NVC. The USCIS website just says it got approved yeah. :clock:  :clock:  :clock:

We met like over 4 years ago through a really good friend of mine, while he was stationed here in Germany. He tried to extend but the US Air Force wouldn't let him, almost 2 years ago, we already lived together but yeah, we weren't really to get married back then so we wanted to try a LDR   since we've been through like 3 deployments so far. But on my last visit he proposed on Christmas :joy: and we got married in January this year in Las Vegas :D . And then again here in Germany we had our wedding in June on our anniversary

And now I'm waiting  :clock:  to finally be with my husband again.

I m really glad that i joined vj, helped me a lot reading everything about everybody else's stories and the guids. Dont give up hope ;-)

They seem really insistent on sending both together now from what I've seen. :( This seems really stupid but can't your husband send the AOS to you and then you send both together to NVC? Especially if you request the expedite, because if it's approved then the NVC will have to find your packages to send to the embassy and having them separated might delay things for you.

I m just afraid that the mail will get lost sending it to me happened before so I don't really want to. Haven't heard anything about the expedite yet, so I dont know. I guess we have to do it that way.  :(  super worried  :crying:

Yes. We received a false IV checklist via email last week when our AOS got approved

If you mail it seperately, you must enclose the AOS barcode sheet in your IV package, so they can scan it properly and assign it to your case file. If you don't, it can delay the processing and review of your documents. I mean you could try to express mail it to your husband on Monday (via DHL, costs 60? I think) if he's still around when it gets delivered. If he is not, then mail it to NVC with the AOS barcode sheet via "Eil Kompaktbrief International" (taking around 7 days) to ensure that your docs would get reviewed approximately at the same time later on.

okay thank you. I will do.

Can't you send it to him via express or something so he send it together this coming week ?

No it wont make it in time to him. Since he is leaving for his deployment next week, he just got told yesterday that he has to go,so really sudden. So there is no other way. So he will send the AoS on monday and I ll do too then.

hey hey

So since you can send the AoS and the IV package together.

My husband is sending the AoS and I am sending the IV, I live abroad.

My question is do I need to enclose the bar-coded confirmation from the AoS payment?

We would send it both together but my husband got told he has to leave for a deployment next week, yesterday(super short notice) <_<  and doesnt know for how long he will be gone  :(

So maybe this works too :help:

Thanks in advance

If you have a lawyer, you don't have to fill out the DS-261 form.  It's taking up to 30 days for NVC to review the DS-261 form now (It only took 5-14 days until early May).  Since the IV fee is tied with the DS-261, they (applicants with a lawyer) can pay the IV fee without waiting for up to 30 days.  So if you have a lawyer, you could finish the NVC stage a month faster compared to applicants (without a lawyer) who have to fill out the DS-261 form and wait for up to 30 days to pay the IV fee.

Supervisor Ike said, "Well, you could hire a lawyer."     Right!  Like I was going to pay $2,000-5,000 to hire a lawyer just to pay the IV fee faster.  LOL    :bonk:

But I thought the whole point of having the DS-261 is so that you can appoint the lawyers to do everything. How do they know to use the lawyer if you don't fill that out?

As someone who works with VOIP and modern telephonry, I must say the NVC is a crying shame. A T-1 circuit has the capacity of a measly 1.34 megs of internet data, yet you can comfortable conduct 24 different VOIP conversations on it; a DS-3 gets you 45 megs or  672 convos. Any carrier worth their salt will have multiple SIP trunks and DS-3's devoted to voice. With any half-way passable carrier and a modern VOIP hosted solution for the IVR you should be able to handle tens or hundreds thousands and thousands of calls at the same time, much more than is likely to ever call at one time. My guess is that the NVC is stuck using old POTS technology and managing their own PBX's or PRI's on site, which is why they suck so badly. I should really get my company to try to sell them.

People confuse whether they should use Total Income or Adjusted Gross Income, which is dependent upon which tax form you filed (1040 or 1040EZ, respectively).

Which are you supposed to use for the for the 1040 EZ? And for the 1040A, which I filed this year?

Do you plan to attach your IRS transcripts or a copy of your return from 2013? The transcript is recommended, but if you attach your return, don't round the numbers!

And, when you complete the DS-261, if it appears as 'incomplete' a couple days later, don't touch it! Call NVC first! If you edit and re-submit, the clock starts over again to get your IV.

I'll be attaching my tax return, 2 year's tax transcripts, pay stubs, and employer letter since I just got a promotion and a raise at work. Also I don't round numbers unless instructed to lol. And I have read and noted the DS-261 thing. What will they do when you call them?

Word of advice, do the I-864EZ. If it's just you and you're only sponsoring one immigrant and you're only using your salary to verify you meet the income requirements, you'll save yourself a lot of worry.

And, on the place in the form for your permanent address (if different from your mailing address), write N/A. Even though the instructions say to leave it blank, if you do, expect a check list!

Will do. Also I write N/A in every blank space regardless, habit I picked up on all gov docs from filing out my I-130 50 million times :D

Seems like people are getting a lot of check lists of the I-864. I did mine (no cosponsor, make about 48,000 a year) and it did not seem to complicated to me. What are the common pitfalls? I am also going to send it to my lawyer to check before I mail it in.
