CanadaApproved! without signing the DS-230?????
That's weird. Yeah he did sign it. I remember when we first went up to the very first window to give her all our paperwork she went through each and every paper and made sure it was all filled out and signed correctly.

When was your interview? If it was like today or Friday....give it until this coming up Friday to see if you receive your visa. We got ours 2 days later. And if you don't hear anything from them, send an email or call DOS and have them look to see if the visa was issued.

You know what...now that I think about it, OP...he did sign it. I remember now. It had my name on the top part of the 2nd half. And he did sign it. Ugh! Sorry friend!!!

No. We didn't have to either. I'm not sure why. The only thing my fiance had to sign was the paper that said he'd sign up for selective services within 30 days of moving here.

To bad you're not in Chicago. We're desperate for a computer literate smart person that catches on fast. I'm tired of crying everyday from having to much to do.

CanadaUsing Advanced Parole to Visit Canada
How difficult is this to do? We are looking into a summer vacation to Canada for my fiance's niece's 1st birthday. We will be married and AOS by then, so just curious how it works and if it is hard or easy?

We will be traveling by car through Port Huron/Sarnia. No flights.

Any info would be amazing!

Thank you (You all are always so amazing!)

We had to send our sealed envelope and my fiance's passport back to Montreal because Loomis opened the sealed emvelope. We sent it back the 23rd of November and got it back 4th of December. Not too bad if you ask me!

No competition = 100% market share (in my view)!! America would LOVE it!

I actually submitted a request to Taco Bell's headquarters in CA to have them offer it in the states. I'd be buying it everyday. I buy it pretty much every day I was in Canada....probably why I gained a few pounds in the last year! :)

Best wishes for a smooth and quick POE!

O M G. Taco Bells Supreme Fries are heaven in a bowl. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!!! POUTINE TOO! I told my fiance we are stopping for poutine, Boston Pizza Spicy Perogie Pizza, and Fries Supreme.

Is there a fee? I heard somewhere I thought they charge you like $6? Or something. And is that CDN or USD? Do they go through your whole car? Should we get an inventory list? He's just bringing personal clothing, his TV and xbox and DVDs.

Can someone please tell me what to expect? We are driving of course. So we pull up to the booth thing...tell them we are activating my fiance's K1 visa, we go to secondary...then what?

Do they ask interview questions? Is it just like when we cross to visit plus paperwork?

Does he need to have any other paperwork on him besides the yellow envelope from Consulate and his passport?

Thanks everyone. Now that I think about it...my fiance got the I94 but we never paid $6 for it. I remember driving away thinking "Hmm, we didn't pay him." Do you think this will be a problem? Or did he just forget to collect the $6.

We POE'd on the 23rd. It went very well! Smooth and quick. Took about an hour!

I am so thankful that I got to spend the holidays with my fiance. We are getting settled into our new house.

He went on his first grocery shopping trip this morning after I left for work and was so excited to get paper bags instead of plastic for the groceries. Must be an Canadian thing! :)

Overall, I am so glad this is done and we can get married and focus on life together.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words of encouragement even when I thought I was going to rip my hair out! We made it!!

And looking back, it wasn't that bad at all. :) All the pain of missing each other...is gone. I don't remember what that feels like anymore!

CanadaNew Lane at the Sarnia Border
I do not remember seeing this last weekend. There was three lanes: Cars, Nexus, Trucks. I do not remember this multi-purpose lane. Maybe something new they are trying out? I have the enhanced driver's license. I do remember when I crossed to go into Canada, it was quicker than normal with the CBP officer. But I don't know if that was just because I was only going for the night or not. When we came back, we just pulled into the closest lane to secondary because I knew we had to go there anyways for them to process my fiance's K1 visa paperwork. And I didn't want to have to cross in front of 18 booths with other cars pulling out. Haha :) So I wasn't really paying attention to be honest.

CanadaFor K visa applicants, a letter of intent to marry signed by the petitioner within 30 days of interview date
Packet 3 does NOT require a letter of intent. Only with the original I-129F petition and at the interview.

CanadaFor K visa applicants, a letter of intent to marry signed by the petitioner within 30 days of interview date
Both my fiance and I went to the interview and they still asked for the new letter of intent.

Montreal is CRAZY long for being able to book an interview. Don't plan on it being a month or even two months. We waited longer for the interview than we did from NOA1 to NOA2. We got our NOA2 in August and couldn't have our interview until the end of November.

Good luck. Read the guides. They are AMAZINGLY accurate. Whoever put them together needs a big hug from all of us!!

I had booked Nov 6th earlier in the day yesterday, and there was still the 12th and 13th available. They must have filled up fast.
Another member said he was able to get Oct 9th the other day.

Yeah I had checked yesterday morning and they were booking for like 52 days out. Then when I went to pay the fee and book last night it was the 19th. Threw everything I had planned off. But we'll deal with it the best we can. Glad you got a good date! :) Hope everything goes well!

Apparently. They literally only had three dates to pick from left in November! Our NOA2 expires December 2. UGH! Waiting longer for an interview than we did from NOA1 to NOA2. Thats wrong.

Question: are the GST or whatever those random little checks the government sends every month or two? My fiance gets those all the time and I'm like "I want random checks from the government!" Haha Just curious is all.

What all should my fiance be canceling when he moves?

CanadaImporting Food into US

POE was actually very pleasant. It took them a while, won't lie about that. But they got it done. They were joking around with us and made us feel at ease. They got my husbands name wrong so when we went to get his SSN they couldn't find him in the system, but otherwise, it was fine. Took maybe an hour or so. Which is about average from what I've read. The guy at the booth was a real meany, but everyone in secondary was great. No compliants at all. I've always crossed at Sarnia. Never had any issues. They are also great for me.

So sorry to hear you had a rough experience! :(

I'm not sure if I am did a review for my POE. I know that I did for my interview! Sorry! :) But yes, there are signs for meat, cheese, fruits and veggies, plants etc. But nothing about sun flower seeds (for eating) or yummy delicious cinnamon rolls! :) Maybe offer the CO one as a thank you (Just kidding on that)

CanadaImporting Food into US

Ok so I think I'm good then, WHEW!

I will cry if they confiscate my 50 dollars worth of cinnamon rolls.

They would probably do it just so they could eat them themselves >=[

Mean sarnia border.

If you are crossing and active a visa, they are probably NOT going to even look in your vehicle. When my fiance (now husband) and I crossed over and activated his K1 visa, we had it packed to the brim and I told them that if they were going to look through the car, to be careful for the TV when they open my hatchback it might fall out. They laughed and said they weren't going to look. We crossed at Sarnia/Port Huron. I have brought food across the border before. If they ask, be honest. But 9 times out of 10, they never asked me anything about food or anything. They just consider it something you purchased while there. I brought candy back once. Never an issue.

Never lie though. If they ask, be honest. But I doubt they will ask. My husband's mom even sent him with a huge bag of cookies for the trip. They were sitting right on the dash board. No issues. BUT again, BE HONEST lol

as a former Quebec resident, and a poutine snob lol i have to criticize every place i've ever had poutine.  if its not actual POUTINE SAUCE then the whole thing is going to suck.  its not brown gravy, its not chicken gravy, it's a special gravy and there is ONLY one gravy that works...ST-HUBERT POUTINE GRAVY. tongue.png

you can order the cans or the dry packages easily enough.  the wisconsin cheese curds to a great job even if i do miss the ones the priests in quebec made sad.png

We were at the one on Alpine in Grand Rapids. They definitely have it! :-) So worth the trip, my friend.

POUTINE! Buffalo Wild Wings in the USA is now serving poutine! You have no idea how excited I was when I opened the menu last night and say in big letters 'POUTINE'. My heart almost skipped a beat!

It was the best, most delicious thing I have had in the last 9 months since we haven't been back to Canada since December.

So if you are a displaced Canadian in the USA you can go to Buffalo Wild Wings and get a home delicacy. I guess it is only for a limited time so make sure you get there soon!

Thought I'd share my excitement with everyone.

CanadaAbnormal Chest X-ray
My fiance had his medical exam on Monday. We got the results yesterday and it says that the Chest X-Ray was abnormal, but there were no signs of TB. He has a pacemaker and told the doctor and x-ray tech this. It doesn't say what the abnormality was.

Do you think this will cause a denial at the interview? He doesn't have TB or AIDS or anything like that. Just a pacemaker. So obviously the x-ray will not be normal.

I'm just freaking out here. Please help!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPut life on hold?

Hello,

Our first post here. Yes we filed in Feb this year and are still waiting for an approval. Vermont....

Anyway, my wife and I have literally put our lives on hold. We won't buy a home as there is a chance that we can be disapproved. What are the odds of disapproval? We never needed to provide more evidence and have not had an interview.
I just looked at the September 2011 filers and they still have only 57% approved! We are seriously considering moving back to the UK...

I blame Obama's government...

Thanks for support.

Steve and Maria :crying:

The approval rates on here is based on the fact that probably 43% of September filers didn't return to this website to update their timelines after approval. A good chunk of people who once they are approved, never come back to share their stories with us or update us on their AOS status or ROC. That doesn't mean that they weren't approved. It just means that they didn't update their VJ timeline. VJ timeline updates have to be done manually as they are not automatically done from USCIS or the Embassy.

Not to mention, I'm sure there were a few who ended the K1 process and went to Spousal Visa route or even broke up. It happens. Nothing is 100% certain in life.

Just be patient my friend. I know the wait is terrible, but it builds you stronger. I once heard a very intelligent VJer say "If you can make it through the immigration process and be even more in love then when you started, you can get through anything."

Good luck :)
