K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNo longer moving up on Igor's list...

We are no longer moving up on Igor's list because everyone behind us is getting approved!!! Ugghh. Seriously don't know what else I can do but wait and quit watching. I've called the USCIS, called my senator, gone over every scrap of paper I sent in looking for a mistake. And i just keep hearing.. be patient, wait. Yes, I am thankful we are not at the VSC. But at least if I was there I would know I would have to wait a little longer. Not see everyone around me getting approved.
My fiance has gotten his police record, I've sent him the I134 packet, he's been getting up to date on shots. We've done everything to prepare. Just need that piece of paper to be able to move forward with our lives.

We're in basically the same position, which can be frustrating. Everything's ready for the next steps, just need to get there. But like the other poster said, the list is only VJers, and only those actually updating their timelines... so while it's frustrating to feel like we're being left behind and not moving, at least we know it can be any day now? That's what we keep telling each other, anyway. :P

You can completely call! They'll take your USCIS receipt # from you and let you know if you're in the system. There's a great thread on calling both NVC and DOS here: http://www.visajourn...he-nvc-and-dos/

CanadaIf you went back to Canada, would you live in the same place?

Wow - hard question.

I hate to be snotty but now when I go back to Kitchener, ON, it seems too small town and just kind of dirty. What a snot eh? As if I'm some big city babe from DC .... lol

I would want to around my family so perhaps we'd move closer to TO. I can;t picture moving back to Canada anyway, but I wouldn't mind trying Vancouver or the surrounding area.

Doesn't seem snotty to me, I just left there :P

I'd want to see more of Canada and hopefully live somewhere else, if I went back. I've seen a whole lot of the US but almost none of Canada :(

CanadaAny luck scheduling a Montreal Inerview for K-1?

Same boat as you guys :( REFRESHING ALL DAY! Is it possible to schedule the interview over the phone or just pay fees? I was told that if you have your confirmation number for your fee payment that they will schedule it on the phone but I thought that the consulate wasn't taking inquiries other than through email? Anyone have information on this? WE JUST WANT IT SCHEDULED ALREADY haha

No, Montreal doesn't arrange interviews over the phone at all. Have to keep refreshing, I'm afraid.

Canadacopies to bring to montreal interview

Hi,

I have a question regarding all the copies of all the forms that need to be brought for the Montreal interview. Do I need to update the forms with my visits to the USA for form DS-230 and DS-156 if I have made more visits from the time these forms were sent with the I-129 and packet 3 until when I go for my interview? I have made a few trips to the states to see my fiance in Michigan from btwn the time packet 3 was sent and the interview date which is next month so just wondering do i have to update the dates of my visits as well as the date of the signature of these forms for packet 4 when I bring them to the interview OR do I just make straight copies of what i had sent in packet 3 without updating the dates of visits or anything to take to the interview along with the originals, of course. any help would be appreciated. thanks so much.

I didn't update any of that information, and I'd made trips. I had it written down with me in case I was asked, though.

CanadaCanadian K-1 and I-94

I told my lawyer what you guys said and this is his response, "I will be interested to see the I-94 as none of K-1 Canadian clients has ever gotten one."

Is there a pic somewhere of one on this site or elsewhere?

I'm looking at mine right now... seriously, I'd be reconsidering this lawyer.

CanadaCanadian K-1 and I-94

Edit: Also, I brought American money when I made my POE at Toronto Pearson Airport to pay for the I-94, but they just gave it to me and didn't ask for any money. I guess I was lucky? :P

We were leaving secondary at the Bluewater Bridge and I realized they hadn't asked me for the 6$ so I turned back and asked the officer. He just shrugged and said it was on them, but I do absolutely have the I-94 in my passport :)

CanadaQuestion for Canadians

Well, it appears that PastryChef is my fiance! When I arrived here today, he had a table set up with all sorts of Canadian goodies and other gifts. I will try to post photos of the set up in the next few days but wow! So amazing to come in to see that! Kinda funny how I never posted in this thread but always meant to! He made this account in hopes I wouldn't figure out it was him (PastryChef is not a name I would have associated with him lol!).

That is AWESOME! Haha :D Very sneaky!

CanadaCanadian Thanksgiving
It's weird, this will actually be the first Canadian Thanksgiving I've spent with any "family" in a really long time (Be it my husband's family), yet I've been here for American Thanksgiving with his family the last three years... Yet at the same time, I'm still kinda bummed at not being back in Canada for it even though all I ever did was work and whine about holiday bus schedules, LOL.
ralyseFemaleCanada2011-09-29 15:22:00
CanadaCanadian Thanksgiving

I was just curious since it is coming up!

If you chose yes, what are your plans? An all out family gathering, or something simple?

I am just making dinner for me and my fiance. I am going to cook a turkey breast (since a whole turkey will be too big), and have all the other trimmings (stuffing, sweet potatoes, veggies, pumpkin pie etc!). It will be the first time I cooked turkey so hopefully it will work out! :)

My mother in law is determined to make me turkey for Canadian Thanksgiving. I'm a little wary because last *American* thanksgiving she basically inadvertently tried to kill me by putting almonds in almost every meal and not telling me (I'm allergic) so she wants to do this as an attempt to apologize for that debacle, LOL. Hopefully it goes well :)

CanadaLeaving for Montreal tomorrow (Medical / Interview)

hi first, thanks sooo much for making this list. i have my medical this week and then two weeks after we have our interview, this list is a BIG help, thank you soooo much!! Question tho, when you say "2010 tax returns" is that for the petitioner or one from both of us?? again thank so much for making this!

Just the petitioner :)

CanadaLeaving for Montreal tomorrow (Medical / Interview)

Regarding NOA2 and packet 4: I stand corrected. I wasn't asked for anything besides what was on the Pkt3 checklist but everyone's experience is different.

I wasn't asked for P4, just for a printout from the CSC site or the email confirming my appointment.

CanadaSocial Security Question

No, you check off legal alien ALLOWED to work :) By the way, they asked me for additional ID besides my passport, so I brought my birth certificate.

I'd checked not allowed...

CanadaSocial Security Question

Do they give you a SS number on the spot when you apply .. or do you only know what it is when you receive it in the mail? How long does that usually take?

In the mail, mine took just over a week.

CanadaSocial Security Question

Hi there, hope you've got this all sorted out, quick question for you tho, Im going to just take my application to the local SS office since it's close by, what ID did you bring with you? I was planning on bringing my CDN passport with K! visa in it as well as my canadian Drivers license, will that be enough?

Thanks

I don't have a DL, so I had my birth certificate and SIN card with me as well as my passport but all they asked for was the passport and the forms.

CanadaQuestions on DS160 form for K-1 applicant

the ds-160 electronic replaces the ds-156 form.

Not for Canadians, Montreal requires both.

As for the original questions, I answered "50 years" because I'd seen others having done that and I listed my five most recent long visits on the form. Hope this helps!
ralyseFemaleCanada2011-10-09 17:32:00
CanadaDS-156K

Oh my God, I finally get it! Had to read further into your thread Ralyse. LOL! http://www.visajourn...guide-montreal/

so you just send out the checklist and mark off the things you will bring to you interview. but you don't actually send it with packet 3. Boy the DS-156K sure is confusing. I didn't receive my packet 3 yet, but NVC did tell me it was being sent to me, I'm sure the packet that comes in says something about this Checklist.

Without this site I don't know how the in the heck me and my fiancee would be doing this. Sorry about this mess of a post. I've answered my question, but thanks to this forum of course!

Have a good night!

Yup, that's it! Don't send anything but the forms in with packet 3 :)
