Wow, after a couple weeks of relative quiet it looks like more people are being put in NVC jail.

I just want to tell the newly imprisoned that you will survive even though it is so frustrating and disappointing at first. I was stuck 50 days - it was not fun ... But tomorrow I leave for the Philippines. I am going to my fiancee's interview on Tuesday and we hope to return together on July 4th. Its all worth it. good.gif

Just to follow up, we were approved on Tuesday and picked up the visa today (Thursday). They did not ask for any evidence of relationship at all since I was there.

The time spent at the NVC seems like a distant memory now ...

Hope everyone else's Journey goes as smoothly as ours has (after NVC that is).

well I am totally frustrated I still havent recieved the package over three weeks. Embassy claims they have sent it twice I am at a loss......
I asked if I could schedual and interview they said not until I recieve the package.
should I call the NVC?
Jon

What package are you waiting for?? The so-called packet 3 from the embassy? You should not need that to schedule your interview. I called the embassy to ask if we were ready to schedule our interview and then called the visa services call center, got the $18 pin and scheduled it. They said they would not be sending my fiancee the notice that she could now schedule her interview. They only sent her an email confirming her appointment date and time.

Whoops - I see now that you applied for K-3. For some reason I thought you were K-1 and Philippines.

Yes odd - almost a week with no new posts.

On another note ... So I was released on the 12th. Every time I called the NVC (about 15 times over 50 days) they confirmed my phone number and email address and assured me that they would contact me when my case was sent on.

Of course I have received no official notice. The NVC (and USCIS) work in mysterious ways ...

Congrats !! I see you got the interview already set up good.gif

My lady haven't gotten the embassy letter yet sleep.gif (it'll be close to 3 weeks now) so I'll be emailing them tomorrow to make sure they haven't lost the paperwork or so =/

Don't wait for the letter - Call the embassy to see if youa are eligible to schedule your interview and if you are, phone the call center to schedule. I was able to schedule 2 weeks after the NVC sent my case on to Manila.

More good news for us - Bing's interview will be on June 23! I will be attending too. I'm not leaving anything to chance now. The plan is that we will have an engagement party after the interview and hopefully the visa is issued in time so that we can travel back together - Possibly arriving in the USA on July 4th. How cool would that be?!? kicking.gif

Hi everyone.. I believe everyone here knows alot about NVC..

we got our NOA2 yesterday (email...)got approve 49 days after noa1

my question is

will we recieve a EMAIL CONFIRMATION that NVC has recieved our case?

will the CASE STATUS ONLINE show NVC has recieved our case?

DO we need to pay anything to NVC? (if YES... what for?)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.. GOOD LUCK N GOD BLESS US ALL

Wow - Congrats on your very quick approval! No, you will not receive an email from the NVC. The petitioner will get a letter about 10 day to 2 weeks after your approval date. The letter wil show your case number and will state that within a week your case will be sent on to the foreign consulate which may or may not be true (which is why this thread exists - some cases are delayed up to about 50 days).

The case status online will not show that the NVC has received your case. That is only used by the USCIS and is often not even updated for approvals by them.

No there is no fee to the NVC.

After you get the letter from the NVC, you should call them at 603 334-0700 to ask if your case has been sent on to the foreign consulate. I hope they don't tell you that your case is having "additional processing".

Good Luck!

I have a question for Thantita's guy: How do you get the stats for people released from NVC? Is it dependent on them posting in this thread? It seemed like the "jail time" was going down from 50 day to closer to 40 days. I'm just hoping the people currently showing stuck for 50+ days are actually out but maybe haven't reported it here yet.

Just wanted to talk about how my call to the NVC went today. They received my case on the 23 of March and I got my case number on that date. I called Monday of this week and learned for the first time that my case was undergoing "additional processing".

Today I was going to be relentless in tryng to find what this "additional processing" meant and how long before my case would be sent on to the consulate. The woman I talked to either did not know anything or just was not very friendly. I didn't expect her to know specifically why my case was help up. She made it sould normal and that the process takes up to 4 weeks. That does not agree to what I have always heard here about K visas - they stop very briefly on their way to the foreign consulate. I asked if my case was being treated differently than others ... I asked why I was sent a letter saying that my case would be forwarded "within a week" to my consulate. I was very polite but persistent in asking what this delay meant.

The only answer I got was that it takes up to 4 weeks and I will be contacted when it is sent on. They always confirm my phone number and email address when I call for some reason. I find it hard to believe that they would ever call me!

I just would love to know, as I suppose everyone here would, why this delay happens and what a legitimate assessment of the wait will be. The waiting isn't the worst part ... Its not knowing how long the wait will be.

Darn it! I've got a wedding to plan!

Thanks for listening to my rant.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Question ABout NVC

I'm going to hijack this post and ask: is it a mandatory step to call NVC to get the new case file, or is it just to gain to time? I'm wondering because we received our hard copy of the NOA2 last Friday and i thought they would contact us again with the new case information.

I apologize, in advance, for adding my own question on this thread.

The NVC will mail you a letter with your case number on it. Its not mandatory you call but its the only way you will know when your case has been sent on to your foreign consulate.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Question ABout NVC

Not to dispute or mislead anyone with new information but I just called the NVC about my file and she told me it had been mailed to the Embassy. I asked her if there was anything else that the NVC would mail us and she said "Oh, no.. we don't do anything with the Fiancce Visa. We only forward it to the Embassy." Well, that's what she said and I know they assign it an MNL # but I have heard of files getting held at NVC too.

Is it possible that this applies only to the Fiancee Visa ? I don't know but I am happy our case is onto Manila US Embassy !

Yes, fiancee visa petitions can be held up at the NVC. We were delayed 50 days for "administrative processing". The person you talked to likely didn't know much.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionForm I-134 question
Unfortunatley, a lot of information in the guides is not up to date. The I-134 is no longer required to be notarized and there is no place for it on the form.

Additionally, a notary only verifies that you have signed the form, they don't verify the information on the form. If you meet the income requirements you don't need a statement from your banker anyhow.

I received some info from my lawyer and i'm not sure what to make of it. I emailed hom this same thing but he usually takes a couple days to reply back.
12. National Statistics Office Documents:
• Applicants whose visa eligibility is dependent upon their marital status (i.e. K-1, K-3, CR-1, IR-1, F-1 and F2-B categories) will normally need to have their documents verified through the National Statistics Office (NSO) before the U.S. Embassy in Manila can issue the visa. Those with a delayed birth or death certificate or only local civil registrar copies of such documents may need to have their documents verified.
• In order to avoid unnecessary delay in the visa issuance process, the U.S. Embassy in Manila strongly encourages applicants in the categories mentioned above to pay the document verification fee prior to their immigrant visa interview. Payment can be made through any Metrobank location. The cost of the document verification is PhP 650 per applicant. For specific instructions on how to pay the document verification fee, If you are unable to pay for the document verification before your immigrant visa interview, you may be asked to pay the fee on the day of your interview. Please note that if you pay on the day of your interview, there will be a delay of one to two weeks in the processing of your application.

What documents need to be verified? My fiancee' had an annulment does that along with her birthcertificate need to be verrified? Do we just take the docs to NSO? Thanks

I think you need a new lawyer (or no lawyer). I have read many posts here that say document verification is no longer needed in the Philippines.

Hello all,

I am a newbie and trying to get all the required information together for my I-134 form. Does any of this information need to be notarized? It seems I read somewhere before something needed to be notarized, but can't find where I read it. I will be traveling back to the RP in May to harvest rice and wanted to carry everything required for the interview with me and hand it directly to my fiance. She is still waiting on the packet from Manila which I think should arrive soon. Also I am a little concerened because I lost the copy I made of the original I-129F petition in a natural disaster. What information or documentation from this packet should I be sure to give my fiance since I don't have this copy?

Also anyone that has been through the interview in Manila feel free to contact me via email or post helpful hints, I have questions about what my fiance will be asked. She is a little on the timid side, and I fear she might get bullied in Manila, so I want to prepare her as best I can.

Thanks in advance,
TripleG <><
Sorry if these questions have been asked before, but my internet connection is horrible making it hard to research.

There have been many posts the past few months in the Philippines regional forum with a list of interview questions asked. Just search "interview" in the Philippines area or ask this question there.

Are we going to need to fill up the I-134 to marry and live together? I am concerned because she is a college student and doesn't have any income, just the grants and student loan. And it seems like the I-134 requires that the sponsor (she is the sponsor, US citizen, I am from Canada) has like 40000 annual income or something like that which of course she doesn't. But I have 5500$ saved and I will get a job when I come there, so I am sure we will be fine.

I-134 is only important if you want to get an approved visa. Other than that, dont worry about it.

But I do need the visa to live with her in US, don't I?

We are waiting for a set interview date from the US Embassy in Manila. Should I just send my Fiancee up to manila and have her stay there to do it all at once? She lives in Cebu, and I was thinking since she has to go to St Luke's Hospital and do her physical, that maybe it was best to have her do that, stay there for the other 5-7 days in a Hotel, and then do the interview at the Embassy. Any suggestions on all this? Should I have her just fly up anytime now and do the Physical, and then fly back to do the interview? Please advise! Thanks

Just wait until you have a confirmed interview date. The medical exam is always scheduled for the day before the interview. As soon as you have the interview date, you can plan her trip - good luck!

Not true! The medical takes 2 days in the Philippines. You need time for the results to get to the Embassy. 10 before the interiew is probably close to the minimum time needed - 2 weeks is much safer.
