PhilippinesI'm a bit Nervous and paranoid:(:(

I watched this documentary in history channel about becoming a US Citizen to people who are seeking to be one and there was one segment there that they showed how AOS interview looks like if you came in with K1 visa. The consul interviews you and your spouse separately/one at a time and ask you sensitive questions such as " who sleeps in the right side of the bed?" " What type of family planning are you using?" so if one says differently, I guess its up to the consul how s/he'd come up with the decision.

But, like what others have mentioned, just relax and try to touch that other "personal"side of being married, who knows you'd really be ask these questions. Just make sure y'all both know what to say. :)

Good luck!

Our AOS interview was nothing like that. They just interviewed us together. No questions about sleeping arrangements or birth control. It was pretty easy for us.

PhilippinesWhat does this mean? Is it an RFE?

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

Please be advised this case is currently under additional processing. The NVC will send further instructions once this processing is completed.

Our approval from USCIS was February 15, and they opened our case February 25.

What type of visa have you applied for? Please complete your time line to get more meaningful replies.

No bank statementes are needed at all if your income qualifies. Bank statements are only needed if your income does not qualify and you are showing assets to qualify.

PhilippinesTax documents in PI Embassy

So if I am well above the poverty line no need for statements? My fiance claims her friend had hwe interview on Monday and the CO asked for bank statements and W2. She also tol dher that they do not accept pay stubs or pay statements at USEM in Manila?

Yes, if your income qualifies there is absolutely no need for any bamk statements at all. I attended my fiancees interview and brought 3 years of tax transcripts, several recent pay stubs and a letter from my employer's HR department saying that I was a full time employee and had been since XXX date.

You should have an amendment page added to your passport showing the change to your name due to marriage. Contact your nearest Philippines consulate here in the US. Do a google search - there are offices in NY, LA Chicago, etc.

The majority of tax returns filed now are filed electronically so no signature is ever put on any tax form. I haven't signed a tax return in at least 10 years. There is no need for a copy of a signed return - just submit tax transcrpits.

I don't know what the average is but for us it was 2 days. We asked to pick up the visa (apparently you can't do that anymore).

Hi there, just wanna confirm...do we need to notarize the Affidavit of Support (Form 1-134) ? I have read post before that it is not necessary, but, just a while ago, someone posted that it should be notarized. Anyone, please reconfirm... thanks in advance !

Absolutely not. In fact nothing in the normal K-1 visa process requires any notarization.

...but the NOA2 which the OP got was ultimately based on the tainted information submitted for the NOA1.

The Approval Notice was based on the information submitted with the petition. It had nothing to do with the Receipt Notice.

PhilippinesIs my relationship hopeless??????

That he sent i-129 package, which would contain if they are free to marry or not etc... and in return OP would reeive NOA1.

No, the receipt notice is in return for the payment. Its not an apporval of anything.
Matt & BingMalePhilippines2011-09-09 11:20:00
PhilippinesIs my relationship hopeless??????

So while the NOA1 doesn't have requirements in and of itself there are requirements to receive a NOA1.

 What?

Receipt notice requirements: Pay the petition fee. That's it.

Approval notice requirements, too many to list here.

:ot2:
Matt & BingMalePhilippines2011-09-09 11:14:00
PhilippinesIs my relationship hopeless??????

Disagree with this: Why ; The Original 129-F required separate 325-A Forms for the Petitioner/Beneficiary signed in Ink and dated. Proof of disolvement of a previous marridge is to be diclosed and appropriate documents to show that marridge is legally disolved. This was not the case here.
The NOA1 is a reciept if your application was forthfully true but does not avoid what you wrote in your submital in the 129-F Petition. In this case, the 129-F was Fraudulant and was caught by USCIS.
So I think you are wrong (respectfuly) that the NOA1/129-F does not require anything. It requires the truth.

None of the things you listed are considered before the receipt notice is issued. If your check is made out correctly and the petition signed I suppose, the receipt notice will be issued with no further consideration given at that time.

:ot2:

PhilippinesIs my relationship hopeless??????

Your Case/Question is to complicated for a member to answer. You need a Immigration Attorney.
Second: You state you have a NOA2.. How did you get the NOA1 which requires both parties are free to marry? What exactly did you say on the I-129F to obtain the NOA1 ? You will need an Attorney if I read your post correctly.
You both must be Legally Free and Able to Marry.

An "NOA1" is just a receipt notice for your payemnt - it does not require anything.

PhilippinesIf Visa Interview Appointment is at 6:30am. What time should we arrive?
For some reason people like to wait on line in the Philippines. There's no need to arrive extra early for your interview, after all you have an appointment. Half an hour early is plenty. If need be you can tell the guards what time your appointment is and they will move you up if necessary.

PhilippinesQuestions from a K-1 Applicant (newbie)
Just want to point out that "NOA2" does NOT mean approval notice - it just means second notice. In our case the second notice was an RFE and our approval notice was the third notice we recieved.

PhilippinesQuestions from a K-1 Applicant (newbie)

Hello VJ's

I'm Amadeo from the Philippines, my fiancee filed for a petition for me. Today (9/20/11) she received the approval letter. Do you guys know around when will I have my Medical Check-up and interview with the US embassy?
Also what do these acronyms stand for:
a. NOA-1
b. NOA-2

Thanks in advance.

"NOA" stands for Notice of Action. Every time you get a notice from the USCIS it is issued on Form I-797, Notice of Action. The terms NOA1 & NOA2 really should not be used as they have no official meaning.

After submitting your petition the first notice you get will be a Receipt Notice. The second notice will hopefully be the Approval Notice but could be an RFE (Request for Evidence). Both an RFE and an Approval Notice are an "NOA2" but almost everyone on VisaJournay refers to the approval notice only as an NOA2 for some reason.

So your finace received the Approval Notice today. She should call the National Visa Center to confirm exactly when the petition has been sent on to Manila. Then you can schedule your interview and have the medical exam.

Hi Vjers! Me and my daughter will be leaving for US on February..we are on K1/K2 Visas. I know there's a thread here regarding POE experiences.. I have read it.. And all i see are those who shared their experiences coming from different countries.. I haven't seen one coming from Philippines.. If anyone here who had POE in Chicago, IL- Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) please share me your experience.. I just want to know how many minutes will i need to get through all the immigration process at the airport before boarding the next plane to Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'll arrive in ORD 3:55pm and my next departure time going to Grand Rapids is at 5:50pm. Do you think 1 hr and 55 minutes are enough time to finish the immigration process?? How many minutes or hours do i need to check-in on the next flight? I'll be changing plane when i get to ORD to Grand Rapids. Any reply will be highly appreciated. Thank You so much smile.gif -Karol

Hey, I live in Grand Haven. Are you in Grand Rapids? Congrats on getting your visa - we still have many months of waiting and praying. Just curious - why so long between interview and visa receipt (per your timeline)?

PhilippinesCold Weather
Yes, being in Michigan, I have wondered what my Bing will think of the cold when she gets here. One of the first things I did after we met was to send her a picture of my home with a couple of feet of snow on the ground. I try to explain what its like but unless you have felt sub-freezing temps you have no idea.

I am hoping she will arrive before summer is over and then we can ease into Winter laughing.gif

I was in Davao & Gen San in November. I was aware of the problems in Mindanao and knew that as an American I was a potential target for kidnapping. I never felt unsafe there. Of course, I was always with my fiancee and her family and not wandering around alone. There are military checkpoints on the road between Davao & Gen San.

I will be retruning to this area when our visa is issued and we plan to have an engagement party in Gen San. Does anyone think this is a dangerous thing to do?

I am having a different sort of problem that maybe someone can help me with. My Bing sent me a Globe OFW SIM. I got AT&T to unlock my phone and there is the required 100 peso load on the sim.

Also as per the instructions, I turned on roaming. You enter GROAM ON <start date> and send to 2884. I assume if I had the phone in the Phils I would turn roaming off? Does that sound right?

I have received one text from Bing but she can't call me and I can't text her. The texts don't go through. The message details say: Failed - network busy. Try again later. But they never will go through.
