VietnamHome Preps to ease Cultural Differences

Foods:

My love knows a lot about the west because she works at a French hospital and works with them. She also speaks English and French well, but I know she doesn't like western foods, I am from South Louisiana and the seafood here is similar and so are the ways we cook them. Cajuns can easily be Asians for all the rice we eat. And I?ve heard it said on more than one occasion, ?A Cajun will eat anything? and not always in a complimentary way hehe. My openness to not eating any western food on my first trip there put her at ease I think when it came to foods. On my second trip I was invited to eat dinner every day with her family. They were initially concerned if I would eat the foods and Linh told them ?Don?t worry about him, he?s normal? I loved it when I heard that, but sorry I digress a bit. I love to cook like most Cajuns and paid a lot of attention to the foods and the ingredients. As well as preparations, and even the appliances used to cook them. I do not own a quality large Hot Pot, and so I ordered one on Amazon. I am also an avid gardener and recently added things to my kitchen garden to make my trips less frequent to the local VN market. I am also been stocking up my pantry with can and dry goods that are commonly used in her everyday eating. I am also subscribed to web site Vietnam foods and several YouTube Vietnamese cooking channels, like yummies for dummies.

I would love to know what others are doing in regards to food? Bill

VietnamFee for "Cong Ham Doc Than" at VN Embassy

Does anyone have recent info on the fees the VN Embassy in Washington DC wants, for processing a "Cong Ham Doc Than"? The fees are not published on the Embassy's website, and calling them is useless: nobody ever picks up, and if you leave a message nobody calls you back.

About a year ago, the fees were $150 if you have never been married, and $300 if you had been married before. Not sure if they have gone up... Also, how much do they charge now for "expedited processing"?

Thanks in advance.

Is there expidited processing for the interview on a K1????

Vietnamwant to get a jump start on interview paperwork

HaoPhong: You attached a link to essentially Packet 3. (K Packet Instruction) The OP is looking for Packet 4 details which are in the K appointment package link  and the various forms on the page I provided. (see my earlier post)

I hope someone from Hanoi chimes in as well, because my post only applies for the Ho Chi Minh Consulate.  Most of the Packet 4 stuff is going to be the same, but there are going to be differences:

ie. where to get photos, where to do the medical, where to pay the visa fee, etc.

So for the fiance visa I would need forms:

DS-130   ?

DS-2001 ?

I-864       ?

I-864a     ?

and do these need to be notorized for the sponsers part?

Vietnamsent packet 3.. no packet 4 yet

i have the HCM number and emailed, they wont take phone call checked the CEAC website and it just says READY, i sent email and they said this: We have received the beneficiary's completed DS-230 Part I.  Our office will schedule an appointment at the earliest opportunity.  As soon as a date has been set, our office will send out a notification by mail known as the Appointment Package.  The Appointment Package indicates the date and time the applicant must appear at the Consulate General for the visa interview, as well as a link to our website with instructions on how to obtain the medical examination and information on document requirements.  You may wish to contact us at the end of each month for further appointment date information.

Our paperwork is in HCMC!!! I called the NVC and they confirmed that! Also said they have not sent packet 3 yet for me to keep checking with them and they can see it.

What is the email address you have for contacting the Consulate?
