Oh my gosh. This answer is so irrelevant to your situation.

There is no problem with when you get married. USCIS is not going to care if you marry your boyfriend the day after his divorce.

no need for that snippy response. it was just an opinion of the situation. thanks.

It is not a 'snippy response'. I apologize if you feel that it was.

While it's always the responsibility of the original poster to verify the voracity of the information they are offered, it's also the responsibility of those answering to think before they speak. You can not only cause folks to make mistakes with their cases, but you can cause them a lot of stress. In this case, the OP asked one question but has another situation which is more relevant. It's good you want to help, but as you said you offered an 'opinion'. In this case your opinion was unfortunately incorrect.

Thanks.

while my answers may have been "incorrect", i also was trying to look at this situation from the point of view of someone who works in immigration and who is trying to weed out potential fraud cases. i was concerned about her saying she did not have a bf here, but in reality did and they got engaged a month later. i don't know if the embassies record such things, but i would be concerned about that. however, i guess that question was addressed already so it's all good. i am not a child, but i felt your response was a tad insensitive. i can only hope to be as learned as you are in regards to these issues, maybe one day....

have a nice day.

to the OP: good luck, i wish you the best.

first of all, what is G.?

second...if i'm understanding this properly, you and your bf were together while he was trying to get a divorce?

so the evidence you guys would have of your time together would coincide with this...

and now you are wondering if you should get married...

why did you not qualify for the f1? especially if you flew to the US to look for a college to go to?

the fact that you answered no at the time you were applying again for the f1 could be weird too....then a month later, you get engaged and now want to marry....

yeah definitely wait...i'm sorry, if i were USCIS or NVC, i would be very skeptical about your case.... sad.gif

and i don't really think there's some kind of definite time frame to say when you can get married...but on your end, shouldn't you make sure as well that you guys are going to last and that this is real, especially given the fact that you were having issues with him before and told the embassy that you didn't have a significant other, but get engaged a month later?

it just would look really fishy to me if i were an immigration officer.

sorry if that's not what you want to hear. that is my humble opinion, you don't need to take me seriously.

good luck....

hi mrsb, i understand you're upset, but don't give up! there is a light at the end of the tunnel! just stay on top of this and keep calling, piss them off until they are forced to do something....i'm sure things will work out, you have a great man waiting for you, so use that as motivation...i'm sure things will be ok...but i would do as what you said above and stay on target, this will surely pass...

Hi Nusa,

It seems...sadly normal, that this is happening to you. My husband went through Damascus recently too, but besides obtaining a particular paper which only took a day's delay, he got his visa a few days after. There are two other members were who have also gone through the embassy and who may be able to help you if you need to understand more about the embassy, etc: Jennie-Ammar and santa_cruz. Jennie's hubby recently got approved after a long delay and Santa is gearing up to get it done soon. They are both very kind and sweet ladies...

As for us...hubby took paperwork and bunch of evidence that weighed over a kilo. I don't know if that influenced them, but they did leave him alone for 90 minutes while they looked everything over...so maybe it did.

It seems that in your case, perhaps they are just doing basic security checks to clear the final hurdles...especially if his name is a common Middle Eastern one, this may be more true than not.

Don't worry and just wait..it will be done soon.

Mabrook for getting this far :)

Regards,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestions Regarding Ankara Embassy & Misc.
Hi there,

I have been going through this forum as well as immigration-related sites but to no avail...regarding questions I have for my case.

I'm an American, and my husband is Syrian. Since we love Turkey, we got married in Ankara last year...and now I'm wondering if this is going to affect our case. We also went to Turkey & Jordan together on vacation this year and now he's back in Syria while I'm in NY. My questions are as follows...I really hope someone can help me:

1) Considering the fact that we married in Turkey, is it a probability or a fact that he will have the interview for the visa (being what it may, I am still unsure about which is the better route- the K-3 or CR-1/IR-1?) in Ankara? Or would it be a better route to try to ask them to send it to Damascus instead? Is Damascus or Ankara the better embassy to go to for the interview?

2) Can I send the I-130 to Ankara (or Damascus) directly instead of going through the Vermont Service Center?

3) What can I do to ensure that my case won't be held up for silly reasons? My husband has travelled to Europe & Russia in the past few years backpacking with friends and I am worried that this will be a problem down the road.

4) Does the congressman/senator route really work?

5) Is there a process that I can learn of that will minimize the time that we need to wait for everything? I'm kinda lost...

6) My husband is not an Arab and we are borderline atheists...I write this because I am trying to be realistic regarding the stigma there is out there regarding Arab Muslim men. Is there a reason for me to believe that this might help facilitate the background check that he will go through? Or am I being too optimistic?

Thanks again,
Kat

I've noticed alot of discussion regarding filing a second K1 visa within two years of the first, and how the US CIS mistakes "beneficiary" for "petition". What I'm curious about is the two per lifetime K1 visa sponsorship limit. It seems that the wavier for that should only be granted if a previous beneficiary dies (or a female is abused by a previous beneficiary), at least, that's the impression i get reading the forms & internal memo. I've read the GAO report that states most K1 waivers are granted, but that's for the two-year rule if I'm reading it correctly. Is there any information regarding someone who's actually willing to risk a third round of Russian Roulette? I mean, even felons get three strikes, we get only two?

Mind you, this is purely of intellectual interest to me. I have no intention of going down the aisle again, regardless of her citizenship. wink.gif

I had my 3rd approved and it was within 2 years of the 2nd approval. The first 2 girls had backed out on me and never made it here to the US (they were 19 yrs old and this had most to do with it). This time it was me who backed out on this 3rd one, and she went back to the Philippines. Im still hoping to find a filipina wife cause I just cant meet the kind of woman I want here. So I may be looking for my 4th petition some day, perhpas sooner than later. Im just havent been ready to give my search any effort yet. Maybe Ill be the first 4th petition IMBRA test case here. If so, Ill be sure to let everyone know how it goes. If I could only find a 30 to 36 yr old woman in the states who isnt overweight, carrying baggage from previous marriages, and who doesnt care how much money I make, then I just might not need to look overseas for marriage.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Successful immigration after deportation?
im so sorry for what you are going through sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

this is another problem we have in our immigration system. why are things like these not taken into consideration? why are couples like this being punished for the smallest things? not having an original copy vs an emailed copy? are you kidding me...that's the only thing?!?!? what the hell!!!

i know that we as a group of people who petition their loved ones to come here are a small group, but it doesn't mean that we should be subjugated to this sort of behavior. the system ABSOLUTELY needs to change. would be nice to draw up a petition of what particular stupid things need to change, then get a zillion people to sign this and send to the White House.

Hey VJ folks ---

My fiance had his second interview today, and YES!! The nice consular officer said they will give him back his passport .. with a visa.. in 10 days!

I am so so so amazed and excited. I can't really comprehend that this might be over, and that he will be here soon. I don't have too many details, as I'd talked to him after he'd been at the embassy for 7 hours (last one left haha), but he said that when he tried to show them the proof of our ongoing relationship, they smiled and said, don't worry, we know your fiance cares from her thousands of emails! haha. I'm glad to know they remembered smile.gif

Anyways, just a shout out there that this can end - even after 14 hard months of AP. I hope that nobody has to wait as long..long enough to not be able to believe that it can finish, even now. But in retrospect, it will just be a blip in -inshallah/hopefully- will be many more years filled with adventures and mundane daily life. I can't wait to introduce him to all my family, eat breakfast with him, show him how to make waffles..or, even better, how to make me waffles kicking.gif

Thanks again to the forum folks for writing their stories and continuous encouragement. It has really been an invaluable source of support for me over this last year +. I'll write with an update (I still, somehow doubt that the visa will be printed..I can't believe it) after 10 days, and will try to keep in touch.

For those still on AP, stay strong. You are stronger than this system, then these bureaucratic delays and inefficiencies. And not putting its flaws aside, it will end. I'll continue to hold all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

congratulations! now i am scared crapless i may endure the same thing sad.gif ! hopefully not!

Inshallah khair.
