CanadaA US TD Bank ? Anyone heard of it or tried them?
QUOTE (Udella&Wiz @ Dec 1 2008, 09:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
http://www.tdbank.com/index.cfm?s=1

Just curious if anyone has given this particular bank a try? It appears to be the former Commerce banks which switched over Nov 1 of this year. I'm curious just how connected they are to TD canadatrust....they do have refernces to being owned by Toronto Dominion bank.

I am ready to switch to any bank that has the abiity to do a money order in Canadian funds or exchange cash when I have a visitor. I am sick of getting a song and dance at Wachovia - we tried to exchange money once and got some silly ####### about how they have to send away for foreign funds, takes 2-3 weeks etc etc.... ok, but uh - you're like a BANK!!!!.

RANT starts here ->
I also had to grab a money order this weekend to pay my Canadian taxes (or the balance which for some reason I now owe - yes, another story for later today) and my gawd - there is just no one (not Post Office, not my bank) who can do a money order in Canadian funds....they can only do it in US dollars....although I could have sworn they did it 6 months ago at the PO.

The guy at the PO kept saying - yes, we do INTERNATIONAL money orders...which to me meant they plugged in the amount, it did the exchange rate and I paid...but no...it's just a different form then a US money order - still calculated in US dollars and who ever receives it can cash it at their own bank (say in Canada) and their OWN bank will do the exchange from US dollars to Canadian - gee I hope the exchange rate stays relatively the same until they cash my moeny order.....

In some respects I miss Canada - I could walk into the TD (or any bank) in Kitchener Waterloo ON...buy US currency, Euro's etc on the spot....do a money order in a variety of currencies and no one blinked an eye. worst came to worst, I dropped by the exchange place in the mall. I didn't live particularly close to the border, although maybe things are a tad less straight forward in say Nunavut, dunno.

I was pi$ed at the PO and told the guy I was sick of American's narrowemindedness thinking everything is just in US dollars and why wouldn't you be able to spend them elsewhere..he could NOT understand what I was asking for, there was some kind of stumbling block - had he explained properly, at least I would have say...that's ghey, but oh well....he gave me such a load of attitude, I was ticked off - I'm not normally like that. He talked down to me as if I was some pathetic foreigner, not familiar with English...GRRRRR

That was when Don stepped in and said, look dude....I am American and I think you don't quite understand what my wife is looking for and you're being rude to her....and that was that

End of rant

Sigh - I ended up crying when I got home - because I just miss the simple everyday things you take for granted. When will I feel 'AMERICAN'???? I've been here for year already and still feel like an alien.

I'm done for now sad.gif

yeah i have an account with them, they're pretty good good.gif

If you're a Moroccan citizen and these offenses are all there. I think you'll have to deal with getting a pardon from that government, the Canadian gov't has no jurisdiction over that. I'm not sure if that's what you meant when asking about it. Then of course you'll need the police certficate from your home country when applying to immigrate to Canada eventually.

seems that those offenses were committed while he was in the US....moon44, sorry but it looks like you're kind of screwed.

CanadaWhere were you when the towers fell?
i was in my dorm room in san diego, my sophomore year of college. got a call from a buddy of mine who told me to call my mom..i said why? this was real early in the morning mind you....and he just said "turn on your tv" so i am freaking out and go to turn it on and see the towers destroyed....called my mom, she had been standing on the roof of her workplace watching the smoke and stuff. my fam lives in jersey and they told me about how they had to close the windows because the dust and smoke from the towers being destroyed were carrying over to their area....insanity.

needless to say, we didn't have classes that day, and just spent the whole day watching the TV for more news...

I used to ask that question all the time. Then I keep telling myself that its just a small hurdle when I look @ the big picture and that when this is over, I have learned to be patient (which is one of my biggest fault) and so many other things during this crazy mind boggling times.

Im so happy there's a vent thread.

You are right........... in the meantime, I'm going to try to go back to uni this fall to get my MA so at least I can obsess about school & work and what not and not have to focus on this stuff so much...and hopefully by then he will be there...thanks for the kind words....I hear it loud and clear sad.gif

CanadaThe Vent - Part 2
venting????

hmmm....i can't find a decent job, and have to work at this temp project which is a huge mind #$#$

(but i also am thankful that i have it...even if it barely pays for small things)

i'm pissed my paperwork hasn't been "touched" but perhaps i'm just overtly nervous about all this stuff. it's been 6 months, nearly 7 that i have not seen my husband and i'm sad...another birthday without him.

i'm worried about the paperwork,etc...

basically, trying to be patient and hard to actually be patient...i know you all have gone through this hell and it stinks, i just am tired of having this lump in my throat and this burden on my shoulders every single day i wake up....makes me feel like not waking up in the morning sometimes sad.gif

and finally i hate that this has affected me so much emotionally..........i just want him by my side...is that so much to ask? sad.gif

i don't think that is very "christian like" behavior.

perhaps if they knew how hurt you were that they were excluding your mother from their festivities might help? and how would your mom being there exactly take time away from seeing you? that's ridiculous. sorry but they sound retarded. i guess unless fiance puts his foot down or something, there's no sure way of dealing with this.

sorry

does your friend have documentation of her visit to the attorney and/or the attorney's intention to do the work she/he was supposedly hired to do? that may help when it comes to proving your friend's claim as to why she didn't file to remove conditions sooner...

Cool down. Life is too short to waste hating somebody. Enjoy life, have fun and you will feel better.

If you will say that Europeans are the best people in the world...then I respect your opinion, because that is your opinion.

Each nationality has its own unique qualities. This is what makes the world so fun and exciting to live in. We will just have to respect that each country has its own cultures and beliefs.

~ Chinook

but that's the thing..i would never dare to make such a statement. because it's not true and i can't find a way ever to prove this. and please don't tell me to cool down and enjoy life. i'm fine. i just can't stand stupid people. and this one particular board seems to be full of them.

i am anything BUT insecure whistling.gif i actually laughed out loud when i read that...are you serious? or just trying to make a lame statement to waste space in this thread? i don't care anyways...i am annoyed by retards making outrageous and moronic claims about themselves. i am tired of seeing stupidity posted. and i am tired of people like this existing in the world, but guess i can't control the dumbasses in the world and how they are...how nice would that be. it's obvious why a great number of filipinos marry foreigners, it's obvious why filipinas feel the need to say such things, and it's obvious why i'm irritated. i didn't say you were all like this. i'm talking specifically about the silly dimwits who write such dumb things. honestly, i really don't give a ####### if you feel like saying things like that. i just am trying to point out how retarded the people are who made these comments. but i guess that's like trying to teach a fool a complex math question....it's impossible. stupidity is stupidity. have a nice day. i wonder what people would do if i wrote that europeans are the best people in the world and everyone else can piss themselves....

yeah.

Sounds like a post from a very insecure woman. If you have a good self-esteem and have confidence with yourself, then you will never get affected by how the Filipinas portray themselves as the best wives in the world. It should not affect anyone. Any nationality can brag that they are the best among the rest. Filipinas don't care if you shout that to the world. What we care about is when someone continues to look down on other Filipinas. We just care for for each other.

Show your love to your husband and you will never feel insecure. You will feel confident that for him, You are the best wife in the world. And correction please, not all Filipinas brag that they are the best wives, mostly it is their husbands that said it. And the men know why... wink.gif
