Co sponser

I am an American and my wife is a Ghanaian. I make between $50,000 and $60,000 a year. I need to know if I need a co sponser for the process at the embassy in Ghana?

Hny I got some help too. They said for household of 3, we are good without a cosponser. :dance:

If he cannot file joint since the time is almost due let thim file as single and then refile for amendment, thats exactly what i did and it worked perfectly for me if u dont want to go trought all that w7 thing. let him talk tax expects for advice

I don't know if it is too late now. I just did the same thing, and I am done. I get the ITIN for my wife.
Your husband file W-7 http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw7.pdf
Then they will assign you an ITIN #. That's when you can use it to file for state tax as well.
Note: You have to give your actual passport, or certified copy of your passport page. I sent my wife original passport.

Yes, he can file jointly, but ONLY if you get an ITIN, which means you have to submit your passport to the right authorities for verification, fill out and sign a W-7, sign the tax return itself (a joint 1040 needs to be signed by both spouses), and sign a letter saying that you want to be treated as a resident for tax purposes. That means any of your income abroad will be subject to American taxes unless you have it excluded by filling out a foreign income exclusion. None of this can be done electronically. All of the paper forms have be mailed to a particular IRS processing site in Austin, Texas. Since the due date for taxes is just over a week away, your husband should probably file separately and then amend to jointly when you get here. Otherwise, he's going to have to get an extension.

There are tons of forums on VJ discussing all of this, so do a search for them for more information.

If you read the wiki, it will mention the address that the email has to be sent to.

And of course you can't send the email before your NOA2. NVC doesn't even know about your case. You need a case number generated by NVC before sending it. If you read the wiki, you'd see in the subject line you need to put your case number. No case number, no acceptance. NVC will simply trash your email if you send it before then.

You don't need it. Additionally, the beneficiary can email DS-3032, see this wiki for how to go about doing that.

no need to do the barcode strip thing now because NVC gives you the barcode to print off immediately nowdays.
That was the old way to do things

I'm gathering documents for N.V.C. before my N.O.A.2 comes and on the DS-3032 Form, it says Case Barcode Stip. Please how do I get that done.

Visa process for a friend

That story is very confusing and has not truth as far as immigration goes. USCIS would not need to see the child as evidence.

A Green Card holder does not do a report of birth abroad. A US citizen can report a birth abroad to give the child US citizenship.

The story that you are sharing sounds like the man is now a US citizen and wants to take the younger child to the US.

The last child is having U.S.A passport and birth certificate. He did it for her at the U.S.A. Embassy in Ghana during his last vissit. So does that mean he is now a U.S.A citizen?

Visa process for a friend

I'm 4 months 2 weeks into this process but I please need advice for a friend. My friend is a Ghanaian and married to a Ghanaian man who is a Green Holder and living in the U.S.A. they have been married for 5 years and have 2 kids. The lady is here in Ghana with the kids whiles the husband says he is going through the process.The husband did Birth Abroad documents(U.S.A Birth Certificate and Passport)for the less than 1 year kid during his last vissit to Ghana and now told the wife he is comming for the less than 1 year kid to U.S.A because USCIS says they want to see the kid as evidence before approving her visa. This does not sound well for me so please help me so that i can help her. My husband is U.S.C. so I don't know about Green Card Holders.He want to take the last born and live the wife and the first born.

CR1 visa interview

hello friends,

Is it not a problem during visa interview if my husband and i meet once only since we got married..We both away to each other for 1 year and 7 months now it's quite long.. When he came here in the Philippines we got married and after that he couldn't come back here again form my cr1 interview because he is working 2 full time jobs and living alone is not fun.. We talk on the phone every single day and chat online what we have is real..Thank you!

1 year 7 months is a very long time. for this long, i'll go crazy. we married the 2nd time he came for visit and came 2 time after that but i still miss him a lot. anyway, i hope you explain to them and good luck.
