IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp Please
there is nothing to be worried about. As the appointment letter says, get your medicals done and plz get a new police report as the one you sent to the nvc might have expired because the police report is good for 3 months. Get the correct passport pic size and evidences to show proof of a bonafide relationship. Make sure you have copies of whatever docs you sent in to the nvc so that in the event, that they cant find a doc, you will be ready to provide it to them to prevent delays. Good luck on your interview date!

if u cant leave before the medical expires, then the visa also expires and that means you would have to start the process all over again.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 VISA
the visa is valid for 6 months and run along side with the medicals. And so for instance, if you started your medicals a month ago before your interview and the date for collection of visa is also a month out, it will mean that your visa will only be valid for 4 months and which before that is up, you will have to leave the country. And so, when your visa expires is when your medicals also expires in Ghana. You will have to do a new medicals when there is a delay and for that matter the old medicals expires.

Africa: Sub-SaharanInterview on 10th July

No cause to be alarmed about the originals demanded at the embassy: before your interview, NVC would have sent your case file to the embassy along with the originals of the your certificates and upon conclusion of the interview the CO will hand over to you the original certificates while retaining their respective photocopies. So, relax.

Thanks very much

i think it will be perfect to send them, because you will never know if they will ask for them or not

I read here that the embassy demands originals even if you already send them to NVC. I don't know what to do because i have only the copies which i will take to the interview. thanks

Africa: Sub-Saharanplease help

You can only list that you are married if your spouse has a SSN. If not you have to file single. At least that is the law in Massachusetts. Many people have to file single. If you do your taxes electronically which most people do now adays if you check single the next thing it will ask for is the spouses information and their social security number in which they will not have if they have never been to the states. He should have known this. Does not matter how long you were marred. Hope this helps

Thanks so much.so filing single will not affect our interview because yes he applied electronically. so i think we are good to go.thanks very much

Africa: Sub-SaharanSecond interview

If I am understanding correctly...they want you to bring back a police report with your maiden name on it? If that is what they want, then please do so and although it seems it is getting difficult with more delay and financials...remember that at least this was not a denial and keep the faith that when you take back to them what they want that it will be a favorable return.

God Bless! Stay Strong (F)

Thanks Aya820, yes they want with my maiden name on it. my husband drove me to the police headquaters right after geting out of the embassy. they charged us express and we waited from that morning till 4:30pm and got it after they serched their system for so long and i came clean. I'm keeping it very safe for Monday :)

Africa: Sub-SaharanSecond interview
Sorry it took me long to update because we were very sad. My husband came here because of the interview, it was on 17th of this month and we went prepared. the security asked my husby to wait outside till 8:30 am since that is the time for citizens can get in the room so i went inn alone and i was the first to enter and the first to be called to a window. by the time they let my husby inn, i already too submited the documents i sent in and took my fingure prints. by God's grace he got in right on time for the questions to begin.they were very friendly, both the 3 windows i went to. i was told to bring the police report in my maiden name since i did it using my pasport which bares my husby's name. my husband told the lady we can get it that day so we need a close date but when she checked, she got a week 16th which is next week monday. my husband came here only five days because of the interview and he can't stay more than that because of work and is very expensive when he wanted to change the flight. I pray they approve us on monday because is now getting into us too much and my account is running dry and my husby may soon leave on pay check to pay check if this takes longer than this. so far this what happend on my first interview.

Africa: Sub-SaharanGhana Police Cert Fees

The hubby went to the police station to inquire about getting a police cert. (He lives/works in Accra with a permit.)
At the station they told him it would be $250! :o I about lost my cool. I mean the dash in Ghana is a way of life but REALLY!
So I followed a link posted by ZeeBee My link and sure enough it
said non-residents pay $200!
I guess my questions is what fee did you non-residents in Ghana pay for your certificate?

My bank account is leaking like a sieve.

Police Report is 25 cedis and he get it like 3 weeks. if an express which is 1 day or 2 days, is about 70 cedis. He should go through the right charnel and will not be cheated.

i dont think they give you the x-ray report in Ghana. i tried to get mine but the Akai house told me all the necessary information are in that envelope they gave me. you can try but i doubt if Akai house would give it to you.

Thanks very much. I called them but they told me the same thing. Well then it means they had it writen in that. I can relax now. Thanks once again

Africa: Sub-SaharanEX-RAY Report
I heard about poeple having thier EX-RAY reports with them when entering into the U.S.A. but Akai said mine is included in the medical report they gave me. To my understanding, the EX-RAY report will not fit into that white small envelope they gave me which i gave to the embassy. Please has anyone from Ghana gotten a saperate envelope(EX-RAY report) from Akai Hospital apart from the white small one given to the embassy?.

Africa: Sub-SaharanGhana Police report

Hi guys,

After an applicant has applied for a police report, does anyone know if the applicant can let someone else pick the report on their behalf when it is ready from the police headquarters in Ghana? Has anyone here done that before? Thanks

I don't know about that but I think you may try calling the office and give them the name of the person who will pick it up for you and the person may go with an ID to pick it. Again, I don't know if they will go with that but you can try or wait till you are free to pick it yourself because it will wait for you till the expiration date. Good luck.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhen can we apply for K3 in Ghana?
please i need information on my petitions. my husband filed I-130 on my behalf and after we got I-797C, he filed form I-129F and got I-797C. please i want to know if i can go ahead and apply for K3 visa in Ghana since we got married in Ghana or we have to wait for approval of I-129F and if so, then what is the deference between I-797C and approval? thanks.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan this be a mistake?

It is a K3 app

On the USCIS page says before applying for K3 visa one have to apply for I-129F. And folowing the instructions, the K3 will alow me the wife to be in the State waiting for the i-130 so after filling I-130, we filled the i-129f thinking it will be sooner as we read on the site just to find out they all take the same time now.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan this be a mistake?
I live in Ghana and my huaband lives in the US. We married in Ghana and it's been 1 year since we got married.
My problem is after applying for I-130, we got I-797C NOA, then we filed for I-129F and got I-797C, then, my husband noticed a mistake about the address and my country of birth on the NOA1 on I-129F and called USCIS which they sent email saying they have corrected it. Now we got what surposed to be NOA2(approval) but it does not say approval but rather receipt notice and when we called the lady from USCIS says is just correction for NOA1 which we find hard to take in bcos it has Alien number and looks deferent from the first NOA1. has anybody experienced this before and what should we do since the lady from USCIS did not sound friendly and explain well.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 Visa

Hi,

I filed for K-3 visa because i was told by Immigration that it would get my husband here faster while we waited on I-130, was this a waste of time.

Does this process really take five months or has anyone gotten their visa processed sooner? Missing my husband so much, only married 3 months. I am

considering going to Ghana to be with him, how will affect the process?

For what i know, K-3 is no more and i got to know about that when i joined this site and that is after we have filed. We were approved less than the 5 months. you can have a look at my timeline. for missing your husband, i can feel your pain because my husband has been here 2 times after marriage and will be here here again for the interview which will make it 5 times since we met each other but i still miss him very much and praying for this to end soon.you can visit him as much as you want if only you can afford it but not to saty there compleately. is good you have VJ members and you are part of this because it makes things a little better. it hurts a lot to be away from the one you love but please take it easy and visit him if you want.it will soon be over by God's grace
