you are right about money. you guys will probably have the greatest day of your life not matter how little you spend. and friends and family know how to make the best food anyways. many people don't understand that we want to have a wedding this year without a big party. but we rather save our money for next year. the only thing that confuses me is that I whish I could pick my wedding date this year to have our wedding next year on the same date. but right now that seems impossible to plan. I also want to go back to germany for my grandparents 60. anniversary december 17. 2009 . So I need to manage to get married and file for aos in time to get an AP before dec. 17th. every now and then I am afraid I won't make it. also our best friends are getting married on September 19. this year.......meaning I really need this NOA2.....soon...please.....

btw we got a new puppy, well, my fiancee gets to enjoy the little boy.....so sad I can't see him in person.... crying.gif

about the wedding again....we will do exactly what all of you are doing. quick marriage in the US and bigger one next year in germany. german's are penny pinchers. My parents would call a 10k wedding outrageous. I told them that that kind of money is easily spent, but I think they think I am crazy. I tryed to figure things out as far as venues and so on. my fiancee hates to plan anything in life so he won't talk about the wedding on the phone. and anyways it is impossible to plan something that far ahead.

totally different topic. I have a lot of stuff here I'd like to bring to the US. there are two options. #1 is my parents are travelling with me an we each take to suitcases full of stuff. its mostly decorating stuff. but this might look weird at poe and we'd have to declare everything that stays in the US.
#2 ship my stuff. does anyone have any idea how much this would be. do they go by weight or volume or both? also have my beloved bike that I want to bring with me. even though it still semms forever until I will leave it will alll go really fast in the end and am afraid I won't be prepared enough.

vegabond, I hope you calculations are right smile.gif

rosty, I am actually a January filer, but I was reading this thread and I just wanted to tell you I am so sorry about your dog, and I completely understand! My family has a 13 year old dog that got reallllly sick on thursday and we thought we were gonna lose her...thankfully i think she has pulled through...but I was a complete mess at the thought..crying all the time, etc...so don't feel silly!

Thanks for the kind regards. My dog's illness has all been quite sudden and completely unexpected. Her prognosis is not good, but the vet assures me that as long as she's happy in herself, and is eating okay, we might enjoy a few months with her yet. Unfortunately, getting her to eat has become an utter ordeal. She eats less than a mouse-and that's on a good day.

QUOTE
But I'm sure everything will go just fine, do you mind saying what medical condition you have? Unless it's something that means a lot of care in the U.S or puts you at risk to others, I don't think they really care.

I won't give the exact name, because it's a very rare conditoin and most people would probably not understand what it involves.

I have some physical disabilities, including a serious visual impairment as well as dependancy on a wheelchair whenever I am out. My health condition requires I take medication daily, which is necessary in order for me to be able to stay alive and healthy. I could miss a dose or two, and just feel a bit icky, but it's not the sort of thing I can live without.

Yes, I do need some care. I am just hoping that the USCIS will not be concerned too greatly about the level of that care. Unfortunately, I am unable to work, so receive benefits at the moment. It's really that that we're all concerned about, even though we have more than adequate financial resources through sponsorship.

Many people have told me that health insurance is a big, big concern. We've researched extensively into that, have a place lined up, plus costs. It's affordable, so there should be no hidden surprises there.

I've also had a long chat with the specialist I see at the hospital, and he really doesn't see any reason to worry, just as long as I can get the necessary care over in the US, and health insurance coverage. He's already written me up a note to say that my condition is managed well, and that it is not expected to decline.

I've read the USCIS' medical guidelines and I believe that I don't have any problems that will give them cause to deny me on medical grounds alone. I am no danger to myself (other than if I had an accident because I tripped over something and broke my arm, perhaps) and certainly not to others. I do not have anything contagious, nor that affects my behaviour or mental abilities. And whilst I do require care, I do not require nursing care.

Because my case has complications, we are putting together as much evidance as we can possibly gather.

Someone told me that the interview tends to be quite an anti-climax to the whole thing. After all the stress and buildup, it's over quite quickly and is fairly uncomplicated. I hope that's the same for us.

not sure if this would help at all. but you said you researched health insurance. maybe you can get a letter from that insurance how much it would be and that you would be covered. that way at the interview/medical they can see that it is affordable for you guys. that way they can't say that they are concered that you wouldn't be able to get proper or affordable health insurance due to your existing condition. and they can't say you might become a public charge because of a too expensive insurance. which they probably won't say anyways. just think it is always good to have proof of something.

hope I could help you a bit.

enjoy the time with your sweetheart,
fran

can't believe that they are still accepting H1b petition. wasn't in previous years the cap reached on April 1st? Like I said before I had considered the h1b but never tried, because I didn't want to end up in a lottery.
Must be the economy. just wish they would stopp worrying about the h1b and start worrying about us again. we are definitely worth worrying about. that is a lot of worrying, Fran.......

Gave a tour in english at the museum where I work today to a band from Memphis, Tennessee. Made me happy to speak english.
little more than one week in May minus memorial day and I am still somewhat hopeful, that we will see a Marchy being approved. BTW the bottle of champagne I was going to open for the first one of us to be approved didn't make it. have to get a new one smile.gif
hope you are all well and hanging in there.

I just found this thread and thought I should add toss our hats in here, since we're a March filer too (NOA1 was received on March 9).

Emmaline will be happy to hear that we're also a "January" couple: we were engaged on January 2nd! kicking.gif

I can't wait to see all of your updates as those NOA2s all come rolling in...hopefully we'll all breeze through as quickly as possible!

Not sure but they haven't been getting too many more?

They still have space for about 20k out of 65k more H1b's sad.gif not much change in the counts from last month to this month). The 20k People with their masters wanting to work is full though. smile.gif So that is some what good news. I hope.

Its on the USCIS website. THey have a section under the processing times for the H!B's and it shows that as of the 4th they were still accepting applications.

I am happy to see that most of the recent (about 5) approvals were petitions from February. We are moving slowly, but at least we are moving.

It's the sort of thing that I'll need after the NOA2, can take a while to sort out, and can be done at any time, really. It'll be nice to feel like I'm doing something other than waiting, so I'm rather going to look forwards to getting it taken care of.

Hey everyone,
just went to USCIS and read the following:

Website maintenance notice

May 7, 2009 - The CRIS System (Case Status, Processing Times, Office Locator, Civil Surgeons, and Change of Address Online) will be offline for maintenance this Sunday, May 10, from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM EST.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Might not mean anything for us "old" filers, but maybe it means that things get updated. We'll have to WAIT, I guess.
Enjoy the weekend

They told me our case will never show up in the system, so I'm not too worried. They have it, they can see it, eventually we will get approved. They can see your case on the USCIS computer regardless of what service center put it in, so if they say they can see it I wouldnt worry that its lost. Ours doesnt show up but when I randomly type in other numbers from that same day theres others that do. I would just relax and not stress yourself out because it is in the system. If they tell you "it will be 6 months from X date" then they can see your NOA1, so it is there somewhere.

I tried that too. I typed in all kinds of numbers and saw other visa and if they were pending or got approved. then I was wondering if they could tell that somebody from the same IP is accessing all these cases and stopped. Do you think they can see something like that? Had the idea to find somebody with a k-1 that got approved maybe in march, but isn't on vj. sounds like waste of time, but I got a lot of time to waste right now.

somebody got approved with their noa1 date being the last day of february. that's pretty close to march, don't you think?

Just wondering if you are able to access your case online? We have the same submission and NOA1 date but so far have been unable to access our case online. Thanks.

our case is online. but it has never changed. never had a touch. which we might have had but they never updated it. didn't you call them? did they say they found your case? if so I wouldn't worry, because I don't think they are updating the status online. but I understand it feels like your case doesn't exist.
what I think is interesting though is, that some cases must get updated, because people post their noa2 dates, before they got their hard copy. like always it is impossible for us to find out what really is going on.
hopefully we get our noa2 soon, so we don't have to worry about the uscis website anymore.

DS-156
DS-156k
DS-230

birthcertificate copy (not yet though),
police record (not yet though),
evidence of ongoing relationship (so far just phone records)
I-134 Affidavit of support (my fiance won't worry about it until he needs to, he likes to wait until the last minute)

required vaccinations, if any (hpv,...)

Submit H-1B petition to correct USCIS Service Center. All petitions should be sent to either California or Vermont, depending on the place of intended employment for the H-1B worker. All cap-exempt petitions should be submitted to the California Service Center.

I guess CSC does get more applications for H-1B.

Hey,

Have a question to anyone who knows the answer.

I have had two J-1 visas before and therefor I had a SSN for the time my j-1 visas were valid. On the I-129F was asked if the beneficiary has a SSN. Of course it is not valid right now, but once I am legal to work again I will get the same number. At least I got the same number when had my second J-1 visa. Now I am wondering if it was right to give then my SSN or if they now think I have a work permit. I think I will call them tonight (good reason anyways to maybe find out what's happening at csc)
If somebody is in the same situation or has heard of a case like this before it would be a relief to hear if I have done the right thing.

Thank you and wake up USA it is time to get to work (on our petitions smile.gif )

As far as I can say, you have done the right thing by providing your SSN. My Fiance' has a SSN too and we put the number on the petition as well. I had asked a Lawyer before I did it, so if I were you I wouldn't be concerned with it at all. Let's just hope that CSC wakes up and gets back to approving our petitions asap!!!

Thank you for your answer. I thought giving my SSN, even though I can't currently work with it, would be better than pretending I don't have one. Didn't call uscis yet. I tried and it said I would be charged an international dialling rate, which I didn't know how much it is.

So Wes called today, we were told by the lady that we will never appear online because the old system is broken. All new apps are apparently going into a new system but the old ones won't be added in because of something or anothers....whatever. As usual, all we heard was it will be 6 months from your NOA2 date. I hope its this month, I really really do. On the plus side I think I figured out why its going so slowly atm. The H1B startup was last month. They are almost at their cutoff so hopefully things will balance again soon.

yeah, was thinking about the same thing. but why is vermont approving? do they not get the h-1b? I had thought about an h1b for myself before, but the last two years the cap was reached on the first day. and this year...they were asking people to still apply a week later because they hadn't reached the cap yet...crazy.
maybe that's why its taking up the entire april.
something really needs to happen. every approval is exciting cause it is one step closer to ours. that's why I didn't mind the wait in the beginning, now I check the timelines three times a day and they look the same since almost a week crying.gif

Hopefully May will be a good month, or, at least, I want it to be a good month. May is significant to me because that how everything started for me. It will be one year.

got a question: I keep reading that people get their interview date in a letter. All the other visas I have had, I got to pick a date. I am assuming it is different with the K-1. What does it depend on when you get your interview? Just the consulat or how fast I do things once I get packet 3? Still haven't read enough to know about the whole process. Better start smile.gif.

getting really tired of not know in when things will happen. will start a job soon and my employer asked three times when I will leave. Just wanted to slap him and yell I DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!!!!! Exactly what I thought last night. Isn't that weired. Hopefully there aren't too many left. Too bad that not every one who filed a petition has a timeline online. We would have a better idea about approvals. I am hoping they will throw in some March filers soon to make everyone believe that it goes pretty fast. Still strange that so many Feb Filers got approved so quickly and then it stopped. And then you look at VSC where it seems like multiple petitions get approved per day. Not that those petitions are recent ones, but they seem to be moving quicker right now.
Isn't it frustrating, no matter how much we research things, we'll never know when we'll be approved. I got a bottle of champagne ready that I will open for the first March Filer Approval (without an expedite).

Happy Birthday smile.gif

Maybe we should all find a topic we would like to chat about. I am trying to think of one.....maybe what is everyone else doing next. Are you guys going to take the medical right before the interview? Which forms can already be filled out? ..and so on. I figured that there can be a lot of time wasted when I am not prepared when I get the packet 3.

Maybe that gives everyone something to do besides being sad all the time. Everytime I work on something like a form I feel like I come close to seeing my loved one again.

I have beem dating my fiancee since the summer of 2000. We've been separated numerous times. I can deal with it this time pretty good, because it will finally be the last time. I am trying to enjoy time with my family as much as I can, because I know I won't be able to come back all the time.

Maybe that helps the very desperate ones of you. Although when I think back nothing really helps when you wake up in the morning and feel like crying.

I wish you all a good weekend and maybe we can find something interesting to chat about since we are all about on the same timeline.

About the ticker again... Tryed to do mine like yours. How did you get it to show the the numbers from 1-31 and the heart at the right time. And also yours says 21 days since we got our NOA1. Maybe I went to the wrong catagory. look at mine, it is all screwed up.

just noticed that we filed on the same day. you guys met on april's fool day and filed on St. Patrick's Day....cool.

Exactly. It is such a strange expression. What is the definition of extreme hardship??!!?!??? Nothing based on feelings can be defined because everybody feels different. Don't know if I am making any sense.

I need one of those fun pics counting the days like everyone else has. Sounds like something I can waste time finding one. Got enough time to waste smile.gif

happy easter

I am happy for everyone who gets approved, but I agree with emmaline q. Hard to compare a case with expedite. Wish I had a reason, too. Guess my only reason would be that I unbelievably miss my fiance. Pretty sure that doesn't make my case any different from anybody else's case here.
Well, Happy Easter everybody!!

Our case is online. It says: case status: Case recieved and pending. But it doesn't show if it has been touched. Maybe it hasn't or the system doesn't get updated. Anything seems to be speculation, there is nothing one can rely on.

keep looking at the timelines everyday, thinking things will be faster. and then i get really annoyed when people start a time line and don't update it. wish every one a good day and stay strong everyone. it is night night time here in germany.

i'll have a party in germany when the first march filer gets the noa2

Is anyone here female and 26 or younger? Looked at the required vaccinations and I (female and 26) have to have HPV to prevent cervical cancer (?). Before I knew it is required I had decided to not get vaccinated with HPV. Thought I'd let people know. was pretty surprised when I read about it.

I also obsessively check the timelines everyday smile.gif

Hello everyone.

We, that is Mat and I, filed on March 17th. (St. Patrick's Day biggrin.gif ). We got our NOA1 and are obviously waiting for the NOA2. Haven't read through the hole thread yet, but it is good to know other people who filed at the same time.
Good luck everyone.
