it is probably one of the Centers that do not process K1 applications, which means that your application has been forwarded to California Service Center.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe're so young
The age does not really determine if you are ready to get married or not. It is what you feel in your heart and think with your head.
Some people are very mature at the young age while some people are still childish in their older age.
Just keep in mind that a marriage means more responsibility and work to keep the marriage happy.

If you do not think that you are ready to enter the marriage yet then take your time!!

Jamie76 is right. Calling them is really a waste of time (at least it is a 1-800 number!!)
But the person on the phone knows as much as you because it seems to me, that they also log on to the webpage we do.
So nothing more they can tell you than what you see on your own.

It seems that you can go ahead and open it up and get your passport but do not open the sealed envelope with your medical records (usally it is a brown envelope)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan I travel outside of my country before going to the USA with my K1 visa??
u might want to call the embassy and find out.
Usually you will get your medical examination in an sealed envelope that HAS TO stay sealed until the POE.
But in your case your passport is in the envelope es well.
I guess it should be fine because even if you fly to the US, you will need your passport to check-in your flight.
The sealed envelope should be separately inside I would assume.
But you better check with the embassy since I do not know how Venezuela is handling the things different from Germany!

And Congratulations to your Visa!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestraveling to US for work?
QUOTE (racheljana @ Aug 26 2007, 10:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I've read plenty about my fiance not being advised to enter the US to visit during the K-1 visa application. However, his job (in Mexico) is wanting to send him to the US for a week for a training/course. B/c of the warnings that I've read on here, as well as from my friend that is an attorney, we were not planning on him coming to the US to meet my friends, go to a wedding, etc. However, this could be complicated since he won't be informing his work about this until we have the visa in hand and he's ready to leave for the US.

What should we do? I don't want to risk him being denied entry and then us having to deal with that in the interview (that would be an automatic denial of the visa and then we'd have to file a waiver, right?). However, if he has all the proofs that it is for work, that I am actually IN MEXICO (so there won't be an issue of getting married while in the US for business since I won't even be there), will that greatly help?

Thanks.

i just entered the US during the K1 process through philly and NO QUESTIONS AT ALL.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting each other
i am currently visiting my fiancee in the US. I entered the country abt. 2 weeks after NOA 1 and will spend 7 weeks in total. NO QUESTION was being asked at all. I already spent 6 weeks here in March.

POE was Denver and PHIL, and, like I said: i was being asked MORE questions when i was entering on my J1 2 years ago.

i personally don't see a point of using lawyers for K1-visas as long as there aren't a bunch of divorces, kids and illegalities involved. i only heard negative experiences so far.

wow. as far as i remember you and your (ex) fiance have a lot of public drama going on (all the time).

wasn't there something that you didn't believe that he filed the I-129 bc you thought the case-number was a fake?

ohwell, i guess you guys are just dealing with things differently.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations: which doctor?
i am currently waiting for my NOA2, and thus didn't have my medical yet, but as far as I know, they really don't care.
i already have all of my vaccinations as i already had a J1 2 years ago, and it would be ridicoulous if they would make trouble. you just need to show them your vaccination-pass-thingy and you're good.

besides that, the vaccination-shots can make you feel really exhausted for a couple of days, and it makes much more sense to get them done in advance, and not the day of the interview, between packing and running to the airport.

in the german forum NOBODY gets them at the medical, and there havn't been problems so far. but i would check with the others from your homecountry!

GOOD LUCK!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen to inform Employer
QUOTE (Jesse G @ Dec 10 2007, 04:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
That's more of a personal question than anything. Most people would advise you to wait until you know your exact departure date and have the visa and everything. If you plan on departing as soon as you get your visa, though, that might not be a good choice if you need or want to keep good ties with your current employer, so it depends on your situation. If this is the case, I'd suggest at least letting them know an approximation of when you might leave.

(and no, they won't be getting any calls from USCIS)

Good luck!

i personally will stop working at the end of this year, taking the risk of being unemployed for abt. 6 weeks. we hope to have the interview in the last week of january and i really want to have the time to visit my friends and to say goodbye. but that's just me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslegally married?

If its OKAY!......................................................Then why should They "" BE CAREFUL ""

If I understand correctly, because the officer at the POE has the power to send you back home on the next plane if he suspects fraud. Or that your ceremony MIGHT have been a legal one.

And because it is way harder to prove that you're NOT legally married than THAT you are legally married. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslegally married?
I wouldn't want to arrive at my POE and KNOW that there is something I'm not "supposed" to tell the officers.

Never.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBest Type of Visa

Thanks for all the info.
1) There is not intent to commit fraud. I was merely asking how to get my girl friend to the US to pursue the relationship. I can honestly say at this time I don't have intent to marry her as I have never met her face to face. I was hoping to get her here first as she needs to know if she is willing to live very far from her family forever. 2) I found a plane ticket to the Philippines to be around $1200. Which I can afford, but there is Hotel, meals and the dates. In addition, I would have to take about 2 weeks off work which may be difficult to do. I can do this but it seems it would be easier to have her here first.

It looks like I will have to go there first and then file the I 129f. I am no longer confused.

Thanks to all who provide this invaluable information.

Just remember that the K1 requires you to get married within 90 days of her entering the US. By the time filing you both should be very sure that you want to get married.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs the K1 route the only way for us?

That is that plan I had, but there is one small snag. The British government requires that ALL marriage ceremonies be registered with the Registrar's office and that the sivil marriage must be registered either simultaneously or before the ceremonial wedding.

I ran into this issue while trying to get married, as the places of worship request paperwork from the registrar's office before they will book a date for your wedding (less separation of church and state there). IF you can find a priest/minister and church who will do the ceremonial wedding without filing the civil marriage, you can use the K1 route. But just be aware that the British do technically require that all marriage ceremonies must be done simultaneously or after the civil marriage. This is why I am sitting here doing the I-130 and K3 instead of the K1 (which I had filed and had to withdraw due to this stipulation).

So if you can find such a priest/minister and church removed from this paperwork, go for the K1. BUT make sure to check around for that first. Sorry to rain on your parade, but better to look into it now than later.

You can contact the U.K. Registrar people with the information here:

http://www.gro.gov.u...ips_Section.asp

The stipulation for the civil marriage is here:

http://www.gro.gov.u.../marriage1b.asp

Reading this I'd suggest getting married in the US on the K1 and return to the UK later for a big reception for friends and family. It would also be possible to have a "ceremony", vows, a white dress...

I don't quite understand why you two can't just get married in a small ceremony (even in your own home if your wife can't leave) now- and have a nice big wedding later when she's feeling better?

That at least would take the deadline- stress away...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPOE trouble on a visit? Advice needed
It definately is not the best idea to try enter the US with a one way ticket.

The very first time I visited Seattle I came in on a Visa Waiver (with a round trip ticket). We went on a short trip to Vancouver, and because I didn't know anything and did not want to take my ticket on the trip (I didn't think I'd need it plus did not want to loose it)- and on the way back had a really hard time getting back into the US without my return ticket.
I somehow convinced them that I had mine in the drawer at home- which was true- and told them my return flight etc...

One suggestion:

I guess you'll book your return flight back to the UK soon- maybe if you book it before he comes he could take a printed confirmation or something like that to show them that he in fact does have a ticket...

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSetting the date!
I think I'd rather give myself a little extra time- just in case.
With immigration, there's so many things that can happen- you just never know.

Why don't you start the process now and shoot for a date in about a years time? Or a year and a bit?

I don't know about the K1 timelines for London, but that shouldn't be too hard to find out here :)

btw: in your original post you mentioned planning on using an immigration attorney- if your case is pretty straight forward I don't think (based on my own visa experience) it's necessary and might save you some money for the wedding :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIf You Are Denied Entry at POE
And I guess if someone's denied entry, one will still have to wait at a gate prior to boarding the plane back. And at a gate one can use a cellphone and usually (at least in the US) there are public phones (coin or card) set up at the gates also...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan someone fill me in on all the acronyms?

okay i almost took those seiously there for a second, i'm new and very gullible right now  One more question, what is the difference between the terms "fiance" and "fiancee"? I was reading an example of the cover letter and it calls for me to choose fiance or fiancee for the person i am filing the I-129F for and i didn't know which one to choose.

fiancee = female (actually, the correct spelling would be fiancée)

fiance = male (sp. fiancé)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUse of POA- Power of Attorney
There are a number of couples from Russia here, I'm sure they can answer your questions and advise you on how to mail things.
As far as I know, none of them has used a POA.

As for proof of relationship: you should definately prepare for questions about how you communicate (since neither of you seems to speak the other one's language) and have a good answer for that- and I'm not so sure the "daughter is the translator" will be the answer they're looking for... maybe taking a couple of Russian classes for you and English classes for her would strengthen your case.

But again, the peeps in the Russian forum will probably be able to answer your question...

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShot in the dark...

If my partner and I were to go ahead and get married here, my mother said that she would be happy to file the forms for him to come to the USA with me - I haven't filed taxes in 8 years and will be starting over when I get there, and I am worried that this would cause problems.

Is that an easy way of doing things?

Can she legally apply for him to come over?

Why don't you file taxes now? At least for 2006?

Your mum can not file for your (future) husband, you can file the I130 for him and have her sponsor him if your funds are not sufficient for sponsoring him.

Btw: you asked this in the K1 forum, which doesn't make a lot of sense since you're talking about getting married in the UK. :) DCF or CR/IR 1 forum might be a better match.

Things can get confusing in the beginning of the process. The guides might help.

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAre we too poor to be in love?
One thing I wanted to remind you of:

even if you manage to get the money together for the visa, flight and AOS- don't forget that once she's in the US, she will very likely not be able to work right away.

She will depend on you or your family until she's free to work.

How much longer do you have until you graduate?

I found out today that my insurance will pay for the vaccination. The problem is, that i probably wont get all the 3 shots done in time. Has anybody got the first two here and then the third one in the states? How much did you pay for the third?

I searched the forum for this but all the entries kind of confused wacko.gif me even more, so if anybody went through this lately and knows the facts i would appreciate answers so much. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisit in US
Hi,
I'm sure this questions has been asked tons of times, but I couldn't find it anywhere blush.gif
I would like to go see my fiance in the US again. I was thinking about the end of May. Our estimated timeline to get the approval for the I129F is the 4th of May as of today.
Will I have trouble to enter the States? I read it helps to take like a letter from the employer or something that shows that you intend to leave again.
We would just really like to see each other again ( as you all understand smile.gif ) and cut up the waiting a little....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Co sponsor question
It is me again. As mentioned in a post before, my finance and I are using his mother as a co-sponsor. I am trying to fill out an example for her so that it won't take too much time for her to complete the form. I still have a question to number 8

The following persons are dependent upon me for support:

Her husband has his own job and her children do as well. I don't know if we need to mention her husband anywhere?

Also another question to number 11:

Would she still answer N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence)

And again we need the additional forms:

1) Letter (with letterhead) from her employer
2) The last 2 years W2s
3) bank statements
4) Anything else????

And the entire thing can't be older than 6 months, right??

Thank you once again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan I visit Fiancée while the K1 is processing?
One week ago, I visited my boyfriend in the US. It was not easy to get in. They asked me all kind of questions, like how much money I have right now, so they could send me back right away and they even called the Escort. So they checked my records, like how often was I in the States, how long, etc. Finally, after one hour of questioning I could enter. The thing is I came from South America and I would have had a connection flight to germany anyways. So I decided to visit my boyfriend for 1 week. So, I think the fact that I came from South America helped a lot. If I would have come directly from Germany, Im not sure if they let me in. It can cost a lot of money if they dont let you in, cause you have to book another flight and fly back the same day. I think I had luck.
