US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 shot records
Well, I heard back from the Embassy today. Turns out they like to give vague information. They say the shots are "strongly advised" which doesn't mean mandatory to me. So I replied back and asked them to clarify that. They didnt fully answer my original question. My question was if she could get the shots in the States...

Typical government answer to a simple question!

"Dear Sir:

As to Citizenship and Immigration Services every K1 visa applicant is strongly advised to receive all required vaccinations.

Is your fiancée a German citizen? In that case the vaccination fee is not correct.

With regards,
US Consulate General
Immigrant Visa Unit"

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 shot records
Thanks for all the replies. She is under 27, so looks like she will need the shot. I have the list of everything she needs and the age groups that it applies to.

I was wondering if the Frankfurt medical exam would give her any shots... Would that be included in the price of the exam or is that extra? My feeling is that it will be extra, haha.

Question is.... Does she need to start this shot or have it completed by the time she does the Medical Exam? Or can she do it in the States? I'm in the military and I'm pretty sure they will cover this one at no charge.

$500 EU..wow!

I'm pretty certain (not 100% though) it can be completed in the US.

Ya 500 Euro... I'd rather go with FREE or even what it costs in the US. I hear it's around $350 in the States.

I emailed the Embassy's little helpline before I posted. I guess I'll find out what they say sometime next week.

Thanks for the link, the Frankfurt Embassy's site didn't come out and say that. They should update their site, haha.

Anyone else out there actually skip a few shots before actually arriving in the States???

We're just starting the K1 process and I had a question about the Shot Records. Looks like my fiancee has all of her shots but one, the HPV. So she called her insurance, and they will not cover this shot. They wanted like 500 Euros for the whole series.

Question is.... Does she need to start this shot or have it completed by the time she does the Medical Exam? Or can she do it in the States? I'm in the military and I'm pretty sure they will cover this one at no charge.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Income or Deposits in bank?
Sounds good, thanks. I searched around and that seems to be the consensus. Just wanted to double check and quit wasting time with my bank.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Income or Deposits in bank?
For the I-134 for a K-1, I'm intending on listing my annual income and how much money I have deposited in the bank. First, are both items required, or can I just list my annual income? I looked at the poverty level chart, looks like I'm good to go.

I'm in the military stationed in Germany and I've tried twice now over the last 2 months to get the bank to mail me a letter indicating how much I have deposited, how long I've had the account, etc... So far no luck, I guess I'll try to have them fax it.

I have my pay stubs, tax returns, and even tax transcripts from the IRS for the last 3 years. Do you guys think I will be good by just listing my annual income and not even mentioning the deposits in the bank? I've lost faith in my bank to send me a simple letter.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussiongetting Police Certificate translated ?
Hi, well, I got a Notice from Frankfurt, saying they received our approved Petition. It's not the Package 3 yet, since it's only on piece of paper. I will wait a couple more days and if it doesn't come, I will write them an E-Mail. Or maybe you can tell me if it's normal to get a notice before you get the Package?

Now I have one question. I went through the checklist you can print out at the Embassy Webpage. I have all the documents ready. Now, do I have to get the police certificate translated also? That's the only thing that is in German.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCo Sponsor
I am wondering if someone could help me with the forms I-134. My finance isn't able to meet the required income level and his mom has told us that she would help.

I believe that she too has to fill out the I-134 form. But I am stuck with question 10.

"I have submitted a visa petition to the USCIS on behalf of the following person:"

Obviously she has not done that. Should she be writing NONE?

One more question:

It asks the person if they own real estate and his family does own a house but as far as I know there morgage is still very high. Should we rather ask his brother to be a co-sponsor who has a good income and no payments? His girlfriend just gotten pregnant. Would he need to fill out that she is partially dependaent on him?

Thanks,

Christine

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Question
We are using my finance's mom as a co-sponsor. We are still not sure on a couple questions and I was hoping someone knows the answer.

Question 7: If she has enough income, she doesn't need to fill in the rest, right? They don't need to know her bank balance, morgage, real estate? I know they own a house but they still do owe a lot on it. Does she need to write that down?

Question 11: I intend or not intend to make specific contribution to support the person.
Should she also write: N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )

I also had her write a letter that we will stay at her downstairs apartment for free. Therefore, I don't know if we should mention that in 11 or should I even include that letter?

Then for my finance:

He didn't file taxes last year because he was unemployed. Should we include a letter with an explanation? He was here with me for the last 3 months.

Should he include what he has in his account even though it is not that much? ($1000)

He receives Social Security. I believe that is not considered income but should he write it down somewhere? Is that important? Everything is legal on that and they will continue to pay him until he found a job that will cover his medical expenses.

I have money in the bank and my parents put a house in my name. Should I print that and bring it to the interview?

Thank you so much for your help. I am just so worried about this co-sponsor thing. I hope he will find a good job before we have to file for AOS.

Christine

The day of my interview is going to come soon (hopefully!!!). I have a big package i gonna take with me, carrying everything in there in originals. But there are 2 things we do not have originals from (just copies), due to my fiance being weird about keeping his paperwork straight: His 2 divorce-decrees are only existing in copies...Do u think that will cause any problems in Frankfurt during the interview ???????????????????? helpsmilie.gif

Hi guys,

we just got a notice that our case has been approved and our NOA2 will be sent in the next days via mail!!

Now I want to get my paperwork ready and I am wondering how the translation of my birth certificate has to be made. This is my situation:

I was born in South-Korea but my family moved to Germany a long time ago and I am holding the German citizenship. Since my birth certificate was translated in German by the Korean embassy I am not sure if I have to get it translated again by them in English. Or could I also go to a translation agency and get the German document translated in English.

On the checklist which you have to send once you have everything ready for the interview it is instructed the following: "A certified copy is a photocopy of a filed document, legal or other, in its entirety (everything within a staple) that is sworn to be a true copy by a court clerk or solicitor."
--> Does this mean I have to get my translations notarized?

If anyone was in the same situation, I would be very grateful if you could share your experience.
Many thanks.

No need to translate BC again into German. Make sure there are stamps or seals on it that say it's for official use or made by an official. Yours should have it since you got it from the Korean Embassy.
As for the original BC in Korean language: Make sure you get a second copy or go to the next "Notar", let him/her copy it. They usually sign the copy and state that this is a true copy and hasn't been tampered with. It's quite expensive, sometimes the "Rathaus" does it too. Ask for a "beglaubigte Kopie". This is just for safety reason, it's always good to have a certified copy of something handy, in that case you can do everything with the copy and the original is safe at home. I have done that with my only copy of my degree, it feels so much better. (Maybe do that with the German translation as well)

Here in the States you'll need a translation into English unless the Korean Embassy is able to issue you an international one or can cough up an English translation in no time. Ask the Amtsgericht in your district about a list of translators or go to a translation agency, if they find a translator doing it from Korean into English, perfect, otherwise you'll have it done from the German one. In Germany every translator translating official documents is able to do "Beglaubigungen" on his work. Look for "staatl. gepruefte und beeidigte Uebersetzer". Those translate you documents, put their stamp and signature on the translation and a remark saying that they are translators with the necessary certification and are sworn in by the court and swear with their signature that the translation is true and accurate. This is called a "beglaubigte Uebersetzung" and the only one you could use for official purposes in Germany. No need for getting those translations certified, they already are.

Little note about translators: Ask for a price quote and ask if they do it from the German translation. Since the translation is not the original some might act up a little, but since it's just a birth certificate it shouldn't be a problem. It would be more difficult to get translated court documents (for example divorce decrees or other court papers with lots of text) translated again since they are required to do it with the original in front of them.
Also ask for the price for additional copies of the translation, they might be cheaper than the first one since the translator just has to print them out and sign them. Translators in Germany are also required to store a copy of every translations they did for a couple of years. So keep a business card of the translator somewhere, when you need a copy they can find it in no time and send you an additional copy.

For your Interview and everything official: Take your original BC and the translations, certified copies of you original BC and the translations

Hope I was able to shed some light, otherwise just ask again tongue.gif

good luck for the rest of the journey!

Wow! Thanks for taking time to explain everything. It sounds like a lot of paperwork...
I am going to consider your advises.

Thanks so much.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Does the US-fiancé have to be the primary sponsor?
I just wanted to mention that after email contact with the embassy I went in with only the affidavit of my future in-laws and it was absolutely no problem, visa approved. It's different with the AOS-affidavit. Still, thank you for your responses, this website is really helpful.

The fiance -USC or spouse- is ALWAYS the primary sponsor. The instructions on the form are clear as you stated in your post. Your parents can absolutely be co-sponsors of course.

Thank you for your response. I actually cannot find the information that the US-fiancé has to be the primary sponsor anywhere but in the VJ-guidelines. I would like to see where the USCIS or the consulate states that the US-fiancé is always the primary sponsor, not to proof anybody wrong but to see if I really have to get another affidavit (from my fiancé).

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Does the US-fiancé have to be the primary sponsor?
I am almost ready for the K1-interview in Frankfurt, my fiancé's parents signed an affidavit of support for me as my fiancé is a currently a student and doesn't make enough for the both of us.
I read the VJ-guide for the I-134 and in the FAQ for the I-134 I found this statement:

The US fiance is ALWAYS the primary sponsor, but may have a co-sponsor. If there is a co-sponsor, both the
US fiance and the co-sponsor will EACH have to fill out the affidavit I-134 or I-864 and EACH will have to provide
supporting documentation.
http://www.visajourn...mp;page=support

However, on the Frankfurt consulate's instructions about what evidence to present --> http://germany.usemb...heet_-i-134.pdf
I can't find any information that says anything about the fiancé having to be the primary sponsor. However in all the threads everybody seems to have co-sponsors if the fiancé's income isn't sufficient.

Does anybody have experience with presenting form I-134 only from one sponsor, that sponsor not being the fiancé? Or does it say in any official consulate information that other persons such as in-laws can only co-sponsor?

Thank you very much for any advice on the matter!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNewbie question re G-325A form

I'm a US citizen and I am about to go through the K3 visa process to bring my wife from Germany to the US.

At this stage, I have a simple question regarding the G-325A form (Biographic Information) for myself that I need to submit with the I-130 petition. The instructions say "Except for your name and signature you do not have to repeat on the Form G-325A the information given on your Form I-130 petition". Does this mean I need to supply only my name and signature on this form, and nothing else (which would seem to make the form rather useless), or can I skip filling in only those items which correspond exactly to what is already given on the I-130 form (which would suggest to fill in everything just to be on the safe side)?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, and thanks for your help.

fill in all the fields ;) ....and good luck in your journey
