IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview documents
I know so many people ask questions over and over again about interviews but i was just wondering. Did anyone get asked to bring extra documents and evidence and copies of everything? No where in my interview letter does it state i need to bring any anymore, just my passport, passport pics and stamps. I still have a big bunch of docs im going to take with me but i was just curious. I was thinking if i didnt know this webiste and didnt know anyone who had done this i would have gone there without anything.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSSN or TAX ID NR??
So my husband reckons the lady in the tax office said i wont get a SNN & Card just a TAX ID NR because im not a citizen? Why in the devil would they ask on the visa documents if we would like a SSN?? Im confused?

Also even thought i ticked the YES box i have heard many ppl never recieved there SSN and had to get it themselves. Would ther ebe problems if i just went there and got it myself right away? Will i need my GC for a SSN..its just i want to get my drivers lisence done ASAP an dont wanna wait over a month for either.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJob Application based on CR-1..
i was wondering the same thing as i thought we would have to wait for the actual green card but as it says the stamp in your passport replaces the greencard till you recieve it maybe you could just call places and ask them. I dont think you can actually work till you have your SSN though

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThoughts on this whole process

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. I just meant to say that if you think it's horrible it's only worse for those of us for whom it takes even longer and maybe the difference in time it takes us is the reason why you think the current trade off is justified and I don't.
I don't think trying to keep illegals outside the country justifies victimizing thousands of legit couples. As I said before, this is backward.

The priority ought to be on doing the right thing for the legit cases.

As Bob pointed out it's the same problem as with the justice system. The US appears to always err on the safe side to the detriment of innocent people who get caught into the system and get their life crushed just so that we don't take the chance of having criminals on the loose. I'd rather we take the opposite stand because I think the damage is greater the way it currently is.

Of course it's a subjective matter. We all have our own values. Some will say having innocent people get through hell now and then is an acceptable price to pay not to miss any criminals. I find it totally unacceptable.

And the same goes with this immigration matter.

Best regards.

This was my point of view BEFORE i even started this process..Maybe i think this way because im from a country (GB) that has immigration problems so it makes me realise more why america is so strict..that does not mean i fully understand the way they do it but i think its ok they are trying to look after there country! I think some of the stories i hear are pathetic about stuff immigration does but in some cases its justified and if there wernt so many people trying to get into america illegaly or by lying and marying for the greencard maybe america wouldnt have to do what they do?!? Im not going to turn this into a debate..we all have our own opinions but i would appreciate it if i wasnt judged by my timeline!! Im sorry for those who have to wait longer

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThoughts on this whole process

I don't get the feeling they are trying very hard to find something in the middle...

Sorry, I had overlooked "so they say". I think it's fair to say that a lot of people still dream of moving to America - for the better or for the worse.

I see from your timeline that you zipped through the process. I merely filed my I-130 a month after you and my approval took 126 days as opposed to your 45 days. Your case was received by NVC in 6 days when it took 14 days for mine. And you think "it's a horrible process". Try to imagine what it's like for those of us who weren't anywhere as lucky as you. And apparently it's getting even slower for those who filed after me. I feel for them.

Are you freaking kidding me?? No matter how long or how short it takes ITS A HORRIBLE PROCESS!!!! I never said anything about having it worse or better of then anyone thank you. I think your very rude for saying what you said in your post! i know our process went rather quick and for some people it goes quicker then others..i would wish for anyone that theres goes like mine ok. 6-7months is still a long time so dont you tell me anything!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThoughts on this whole process

The situation you're describing is another extreme. Don't you think there is room for something in the middle? I sure do.

:) I don't think this was ever true and if anything this appears to be less true than ever. None of the people I know in Europe dream of moving to the US which is seen as "has been", a country that sat on its laurels and has slipped behind in many respects.

It is an extreme situation but until they find something in the middle what else can you do?? I mean if it was that easy to find something in the middle why does nothing get done about it?

And to the second part thats exactly why i said ''so they say''! I wasnt talking just about Europe and although you say none of the people you know in Europe dream of moving to the US i actually do know many people and also read it very often on other Forums that people are trying to move to the US.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThoughts on this whole process
It is a horrible process BUT i have to agree to somewhat.

I think they either need to employ more people to get the process done quicker or like it was mentioned..the electronic processing. Its not fair to be apart from your loved ones for so long but i can understand why they do this..I mayself actually know one or 2 people who are looking for husbands for the greencard which makes me super angry. I dont think letting people in while they wait is an option..Look at England!!! Im happy for america that they do it the way they do because british people in England cant even call it there own country anymore..we are not even allowed to wear our football shirts or support our teams without getting in trouble because we are putting ourselves at risk for getting shot!! Its very patriotic what america does but they are looking after there country. In England we dont even celebrate our national day because it might offend other people who have come over from other countries just like that!
In england people come in illegaly sooo easy and once they are there chances that they will get kicked out are very slim because when they get found out they can claim asylum and they are ALLOWED to stay in the country until it gets accepted or denied...and if it gets denied they can go against it as many times as they want! Now could you imagine what america would be like if they did that? America is a country that everyone dreams of moving too so they say but if they changed there rules for immigration america would just go down hill in my eyes.

If so there are different rules for the expiry date..My husband is military and everyone use to warn me about leaving the USA with my greencard because you are not allowed to be out of the USA for the max of 364days unless your military and you get stationed abroad.

Well I just called NVC again and I was told I should wait untill the end of the month for them to research my case since there is no information in the computer as of today. How can that be??? I've done everything I'm supposed to do with no luck................

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFake Marriage in Nicaragua

Hello everyone!
Well, don't know if my question was asked before and I did try to search and read several posts, but didn't find any of my nature. Basically, my fiancee and I want to get married by this year (December) "hopefully" if we can get the filing back quickly (I hear being an officer in the military expedites the process due to proof being much easier to validate?)..

Thank you,
2LT Lee, Javier

We are military and we have not been given one bit of help. Im curious are you getting help because your an officer in the military??

National Visa Center (Dept of State)just received email from NVC (Choice of agent form)

hi all

I sent DS-3032 via email days ago and today received this email back:

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

We received the principal applicant's DS-3032 (Choice of Address and Agent) form designating an address and agent. Instructions for paying the immigrant visa application processing fee and all future correspondence will be sent to the agent at the address selected on the DS-3032.

Now , what is this? Does it mean they accepted our DS-3032 ?

when i open state.gov website to see if payment for IV Application Processing Fees is generated it still says fee amount 0.00 and there is no box to select next to it!

Yes it was accepted ''all future correspondence will be sent to the agent at the address selected on the DS-3032''..god i wish i wasnt such a brain fart but i think it doesnt show up right away..i think it took a day or so to show up on ours.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionExpired I-94

it all depends on how long you wait.. anything after the I94 expires is considered overstay.. if you overstay the visa by too long, you run the risk of serious issues.... keep in mind that there are bans associated with long overstays... as long as you are not talking about several months... you should not have much of a problem... file for AOS ASAP to avoid problems...

i thought you have to do it before it expires?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLondon Interview Date??

After 5 blissful years of marriage in the UK, my husband (US Citizen) and I decided to relocate with my 9yr old son to the US. Having already dealt with the challenges of the UK Immigration service when my husband moved to the UK, we knew that this would not be an easy process, but we had no idea how rough this journey would be!! We have now been apart (except for visits) for over 9 months which has been absolutely horrid. Although some people seem to find the NVC helpful, any time that either my husband or I call, I find them extremely unhelpful.
Finally, both my son and my cases were closed at the NVC on Feb 14th and we are now waiting on interview dates for the London Embassy. On calling the NVC on Friday 25th they still can't give us interview dates. Has anyone experience of recent IR-1 interview scheduling at London? Did you manage to get a date from the NVC on the telephone?

PS - Thank you to Visajourney for providing so much information and letting us know that we're not the only ones going through this process

Pami sorry to hear you had such a hard time, i read in the past that people also call the embassy if they dont a date. It took nearlly 2weeks for my letter to come through with my interview date for Frankfurt. If you havent heard anything by the end of next week i would call the embassy and see if they can directly give you a date! Good Luck!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCousin is Canadian his wife is American
My Canadian cousin married a USC and she moved to Canada and was going to work in Canada. She fell pregnant and is now 4 months pregnant. She is having really bad health issues and they dont have the money for all her medication and doc visits so they are thinking about going to the States as she could get it all for free there.

Is there any way they could expedite the visa process as she really needs to be taken care of?

Will there be a problem that she (USC) is living in Canada with him right now?

Would the CR1 would be the right visa for them right as they have only been married since July 2010?

Where would his visa interview be seen as he is from BC?

Thanks.
