K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstolen passport

hi

my passport got stolen today..at work! *&^%^%£$!!! yes, im upset. wel they didnt get much from my bag, just a few pound and my fags. so i guess a night in the pub, BUT my passport was in there. So after i get a new one, who do i contact, im here in the UK so can Thomas call them for me and tell the new number or can i email?

Ta!

Are you referring to a UK passport? Did it have a visa in it?

Start by searching online for the procedure to get a new passport when it has been stolen, in whatever country you are talking about. When my US passport was stolen was I was traveling, I had to go to the US Consulate, pay a fee, get new photos, and then come back a few days later for the new one. If you have a copy of the key information page on the stolen one, that will help immensely.

well its a dutch one, but i live here. no visas in there. i know to go to the dutch embassy here and all that, but how to get the new info to the USCIS. i guess thomas can call them and maybe mail them a copy.

ta for answers!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP - I need to change my fiancee visa to spuse visa
You know what when I look at these posts, it shows me that some of you don't have a life, getting all emotional on here and all. I'm not going to apologize for something I didn't do, I spent many years defending my country and people like you with your twisted views and comments that makes the US the most hated country in the world. I respect anyones opinion whether it is correct or not. Learn how to analyze someones opinion rather than condeming them to destruction. No one has a politically correct answer to anything. You all could be wrong and you all could be right, that makes you no better than anyone else in this world. When I read these comments, I hate to put on my uniform to defend people like you foreign or domestic. I'm willing to bet you, you are the same people who embrace derrogatory comments to people who voice their opinion, you are the same people who embrace hatred and racism. I bet you embrace that Don Imus comment, the James Byrd incident in Texas, the way the US didn't respond to the Katrina victims in a timely manner, embrace segregation. You probably are the same persons that thinks that all blacks should go back to Africa and hispanics back to Mexico, etc. But for those who respect persons opinions on here may god bless you or whoever you pray to bless you. Those who don't, may god be with you and maybe you don't need to be on here as well. God bless!
[/quote]

i think you will find most people here are foreign and wanting to move to the states... or they are american themselves..
i feel you are taking things a little far by mentioning things that have absolutly nothing to do with VJ and its members.
somehow i feel more comments coming...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDeclaration of how we met in person

On the visa guides, it states that you need a "declaration of how we met in person" (a single separate page-typed) to attach in response to #18. Does anyone have an example of their declaration that they could share with me? Or do I just type a paragraph stating that we met in X city or country and spent X number of days together?

:help:

We wrote a paragraph aswell with dates and places formed into a little story. nothing too lovey dovey just correct info. i will email you the first draft.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWedding Dates
Me and thomas are not going to book anything before i have my visa in hand. Just dont want to have that stress now and we dont want a huge wedding. There will be 50+ people and some of my family. Things as decorations, cake and photo's will be done by his friends, all qualified artists and photographers. I guess we were lucky with that. The venue we will decide when i have my visa. This can be in several places. Plan A in Galveston (on beach or indoors), Plan B in Livingston. There is a plan C and D aswell :)
but good luck whatever you all decide! The 'i do's' will happen no matter what!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfor all april filers who havent recieved NOA1
My SO has called the USCIS today as after 2 months we still didnt recieve a NOA1. It turned out to be a great idea! We got our case number and he even send a message to CSC to request a NOA1! It has been in California since april 30th!!! It was very frustrating to spend the money and wait for so long without a confirmation. We send a money order so there was no way of knowing.. so a happy day for us!!
so if you've been waiting just give them a ring - its worth it!
good luck to all!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat would you do
I want to visit my SO in Houston. We are now 107 days into the process, have had no touches or NOA's.
I found a non-changable ticket online for €500 and a changable (€100 per change) at the travel agency for €900. I want to visit from 14th sept for 2 or 3 weeks. So would you go (considering paperwork etc) and if yes, which ticket?
And if i were to recieve a package while im away, would that 'only' delay the process or will they question it too?
Thanks for your input!

i am currently visiting my fiancee in the US. I entered the country abt. 2 weeks after NOA 1 and will spend 7 weeks in total. NO QUESTION was being asked at all. I already spent 6 weeks here in March.

POE was Denver and PHIL, and, like I said: i was being asked MORE questions when i was entering on my J1 2 years ago.

i personally don't see a point of using lawyers for K1-visas as long as there aren't a bunch of divorces, kids and illegalities involved. i only heard negative experiences so far.

Thats exactly why there is a lawyer involved for my case. Anyway, all I can say, if one person had their application abandoned because quite a few people were able to travel and did not get caught, so they tried it and didn't have the same luck, then all has been wasted, and that is a risk I am NOT willing to take.

its up to each person, but this is a long process and i miss my man. so ive visited him once before we were engaged in march 07, then in june i wend again and in 3 days AGAIN!! i have loads of proof. But so far they only asked about my job and how long i stay. when asked whom i was visiting i was honest.
know lots about the K1 or whatever process you are in. be confident (not arrogant), dont say more than nessicary and have proof. you will be just fine!

Hi!

as you can see in my time line i got my NOA1 after 123 days. It isnt *that* important to have. its more for yourself some sort of confirmation. what you can do it call them, they will be able to give you your case number so your can start checking your case online. when i called the guy was happy to give that to me and promised he would send a letter to CSC to request a NOA1.
But dont worry, the one to long for is the NOA2!

They will probably just ask for you USC last name and birth date. When they do find your case, be sure and get the case number from them so you can track it online. The number is 1-800-375-5283

I changed my address when i moved from London to Holland 2 months ago. The p**** didnt register this right so now the NVC has send my petition to London on october 1st! We recieved the letter stating this today! This week i was aready wondering about it and had called london to check, the lady on the phon 'couldnt' help me and gave me an email address to write them. that came back 'unread' and said they couldnt help me via email! thomas tried calling the NVC but its a holiday so no answer. i emailed the embassy in amsterdam,. what else can i do? worst case it goes to my old house which was in the hostel where i worked. it would be safe there but i really dont want a delay.
anyway this was also to write away my frustration.

None of my children have ever been refused either. Such questions are generally part of a history assignement. You read the chapter and answer the questions. Reading the chapter will get you the answer and you learn the associated history. Asking mom or dad for the answers to the questions without doing the reading and learning is not doing your homework. Mom and dad answering instead of making the kid read the chapter and find the answer is, IMO, not the way for a child to "learn".

Opinions will vary on this.

yeah my opinion is different on this. i thought my dad was (is!) a very interesting man. either he could tell me about a subject or a book could. i would choose my dad. i like listening to him.
i dont think its bad for the OP to get some personal stories, its not like she will quote it in her paper and make it a fact. its to give probably even just her, an idea. Plus its a forum, people like to share their stories.

Sorry to hear about your previous relationship. No one deserves that.

I'm sure you do know him well, and in all likelihood you'll get along great in person. I knew someone once for about seven months before meeting her in person, and she was quite different from what I expected. She had hidden some aspects of her personality from me.

I see marriage as a huge decision that should never be taken lightly, so please, meet each other, and spend some time together, before you take any more steps. You are lucky enough that you live relatively close to each other (compared to many of us on VJ), and either of you can fairly easily visit the other. Take advantage of that.

good.gif Totally agree. You will be together forever right? A few trips to Canada in the next few months wont hurt! You can start getting things ready now and file in 6months. Collect as much as you can, like flight confirmations, reciepts, photos together (!) and all the other BS they need. wacko.gif
You'll be fine. Calm down on the research for a while and get on those airline websites!

NEVER lie, of course they will find out! Just talk to your doctor, have him/her write you a letter stating you are not a danger to society. The Embassy doctor can always call your doctor too. There are ways, maybe it takes a little longer becasue its not 'straight forward' case.

But im no expert

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYes, you can visit!

Hi all, just a quick question. I'm going to visit my fiancée in september and I just wanted to hear from the ones who visited their fiancée, while the application was pending, what did you tell the officer? Did you say you were coming to visit friends, your girlfriend/boyfriend or you fiancé? I'll be bringing proofs of tie to my home country but if I can avoid being taken to the "back room" using the proper words I'd be ok with that! So feel free to share and please only share if you actually visited.
Thanks,
Fred

Hi Fred,

i wend twice. The first time we werent engaged yet, so i said boyfriend and the second time we were so i said fiance. i believe you should not withold that info as maybe the next question will show you are intending to marry. it would look suspicious. and its actually quite fine to go and see your fiance. make besides evidence, you do not take a whole load of luggage with you and prepare yourself with questions. good knowledge on the process will get you far.
good luck !

What do you think i should do:
i want to go see thomas for 2-3 weeks around sept. the thing is that my petition (hopefully!!) will be at the embassy in amsterdam then. i know i need to watch out for packets arriving and interview dates. but my question for now is, will it be the same deal as he last times i wend, show my ties. or will they really frown upon it. ive been 2 weeks in march, one week in june. does the fact that my petion moved to the embassy make any difference in vistiting?

hope my english makes sense, i had a hard day at work :)

Hi all,

My POE was Houston. I had absolutely no problems. i got 3 questions
- whom are you here to visit
- how long are you staying
- whats your job

she gave me a bit of a look when i said fiance, but i got stamped and ran through the exit! i had loads of papers with me. i definately reccommend to take a copy of all filed papers.

So all in all it was easypeasy!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYes, you can visit!

Marieke - Good luck! I'm sure you'll be totally fine. I know, there comes a point where you just can't stand it any more and have to visit. Risk versus reward. But at least it does seem that most people are allowed in. You may get hassled a bit but you're right: if you are one of the few that get denied, you're right back where you started (minus airfare, which stinks), no harm no foul. If you are one of the many that get admitted, you get to be with your fiance!

Do you really have to pay for the return ticket right then? It seems to me they could just transfer the return ticket you already have. Or could you then get your return ticket (the one you had purchased already to come back from your trip, assuming you got let in) refunded? I'm sure every airline is different in that regard, but I'd be interested in hearing from someone who did get denied with airfare involved. Maybe I'll read up on British Airway's website today...

I was also thinking about being told not to marry while we're here. Maybe Adam was told it would be a violation because he said his reason for visit was to visit me, and didn't say to marry. Since he didn't specify his intent was to marry me on those particular visits, it would be a violation if we did? Border Patrol/Immigration seem very concerned with "intent", so maybe that was it? Of course I can't know for sure and am just guessing.

well it also seems that if you have knowledge of the visa process it helps you. straight answers and confidence in what you are talking about. so all my hours on this forum and others will come in handy! im flying with BA and i will definately check it out. either way it will be expensive, a last second ticket back! oh i would hate to go through that, and knowing thomas is like metres away!

im not too sure about your other question. i know of people who came on a visit, not on any visa and had a return ticket 3 months later. they asked why she was here and she said to see my boyfriend and travelling. got married and applied for the visa, when asked why they didnt plan it before arrival, they just said, it was a spontanious thing. she got to stay. i dont think i would take that risk, but they are happily married. im not advising anyone to do that! it seems too risky!
anyway im going off topic here! sorry! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYes, you can visit!

I'm sure all the vets on this board are tired of this daily question, but keep in mind that dozens of people are just starting this process every day, and the "can I visit while the application is pending?" question is one, if not the, most pressing matters to most of them.

Information about this is all over this site, but scattered. I for one am a person who likes to hear personal experiences too, so I can make a decision based on what others in my similar situation have gone through.

The answer is yes, visits are allowed. But whether you will actually be admitted lies entirely in the hands of the officer questioning you upon entry. And face it, hearing you've got a sweetheart you're intending to/have married waiting for you in the US is going to set off a "he/she is just going to stay here forever" bell to that officer. It's your job to convince that officer that you have a life back in your home country that you fully intend, and will, go back to.

Anyway, I'm hoping people will post their experiences visiting the USC before and during the visa journey. I'm sure that all of us do visit legally, and do leave when we're supposed to. So, is there anything that worked for you? Hindered you? If you were ever denied, why? Were you able to remedy the situation and try again?

Going through customs can make your stomach turn, and make you feel like a criminal even though you've done nothing wrong. So, let's try to calm each other down and tell each other our experiences. I think we'll find that most of us are admitted (albeit with a little hassle, perhaps).

Vets, maybe this will cut down on having to answer the question 5 times a day!

Michele

great idea michele,

i can see how the vets will get bored of answering the same questions everyday so it will be good to have some experiences on a thread. i will put my experience on the 12th june!
