K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Petition forwarded to a consulate

Hello All. I just got our NOA2 today in the mail with the same sentence. It says i has been forwarded to the listed consulate. The only consulate I see is the Taxas Service Center which is where our petition was processed anyway so how can it be forwarded to where it already was?

Was this a typo and they forgot to state where it was forwarded? Why didn't it get sent to the NVC?

I called the TSC and the man didn't seem like he understoof my question, why does it say forwarded and where? Basically he said it's still in Texas,it's been approved but needs to be process before they send it to the NVC? I don't get it :\

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPost NOA2

Hello my fellow VJ-ers :)

We recently got approved. I am waiting for the NOA2 hardcopy. Just a quick question, after the NVC receives our case, will there be another notice from them? Like a hard copy letter sent to my home address? or any other packets?

Thanks in advance and best of luck to all on our journey :)

Best,

AA

I'd also like to know! Just got our hard copy today and I called the USCIS because the letter didn't specifically say it was going to the NVC. They basically said not yet. And I checked on threads here that it may take a few weeks for the NVC to receive like 2 or 3 or if your lucky 10 days.

I know on the USCIS site people say it should update to say that it's been sent to the NVC but I am also curious if we get a letter or email?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsBreakUp after all ....

Thank you so much. I decided to give it a try .. there is nothing i can lose at this point and there have been always a lot of love between us.
Thank you for your guidance!
I hope to have at least a month or so because my fiance bought a ticket for this november 29th. We never thought things were going to be so fast at this point. I hope the interview is on January. That will be better.
My case is already "In transit" since friday. I guess it will arrive to Lima this wednesday.
I feel so relieve knowing that i can print the letter instead of tacking the original after hearing that packet 4 actually will never arrive to my door.
I have some questions:

1- After knowing that my case is in Lima, how much time i should wait to send the email?
2- For the medical, besides the interview letter is there anything else i shoudl take?
3- I have seen a post that talks about the form DS-3025 form that they should give to you after the medical? What is that?  here is the post http://www.visajourn...5/#entry6640422

4- And the last question ... after the medical of what i know you have to wait a few days for them to give you the results right, so they will only give the envelope or they should give you something else? shoul i ask for a copy of my vaccines?

I'm so sorry i think i am overwhelming you.

Thank you for your help and possitive energy  smile.png

1. Send as soon as you see your status change to Ready! Ask them that you would like to know the interview date before the package arrives in the mail to plan in a timely manner

2. The doctors will tell you what to bring. I forgot which doctor my fiance called, but they gave him a list of things to bring. I can message you exactly what they told him. I'll have to dig through out conversation

3. I saw that, to be honest I have to do some research myself. Don't know much about that, sorry. If I find anything I'll let you know!

4. I also don't know this since we're not there yet. But again I'll let you know what I find! Definitely see if they'll give you copies of anything. Always good to have doubles.

and no problem! smile.png glad to help wherever I can!

EDIT:

just found it here! woo hoo http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide

NOTE: Tip Regarding Vaccination Records

The K-1/2 beneficiary will be required by the embassy to have a "medical" done prior to the visa interview. Part of this interview will require that previous vaccinations are documented and potentially additional required vaccinations performed. Once this is complete the doctor will note this on a DS-3025 form that will be sent to the embassy. During the medical appointment request an official copy of the vaccination records from the physician (or a copy of the completed DS-3025 if they will give it to you) as this will be helpful to have on hand in the future (specifically it can be helpful when filing for Adjustment of Status if your DS-3025 form is not available).

Hi! Hope it's okay I chime in.

I read on the embassy in lima's site to make sure that the subject of your email includes your case number. I think it helps them know how to reply better at first glance. Did you already send the email? If you didn't I can give you the link where it says the format.

It looks like Peru is working a month at a time. Right now they are filling up December with interviews. So you'll have a month to prepare. My fiance and I decided to push our date back to January, but he called the doctors anyway to see how busy they were. They were willing to give him a medical on November 18th! He declined because we'd rather have the results more current closer to our January date.

When you go for a medical they ask you bring the interview letter but I've heard that packet 4 that has it takes a while to arrive. if you email them like mentioned above, they will probably email you the interview letter in an electronic form. My fiance asked the doctor and they told him it was fine to bring in the printed email interview letter. That could help you with time so you don't have to wait for the packet. Still double check with the doctor when you call though.

Good luck and so glad you've decided to keep going! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust starting I-129f - Questions for assembling

Another question that may be odd:

My fiance tried getting a tourist visa twice, once in January then once in February of this year and got denied because of the lack of evidence that he would return to Peru. I'm not sure if that will hinder us, but it is obvious that the USCIS will see that correct? The reason he tried for it was to visit me and get to know me. That is why I then decided I should go to him and when he proposed. So it plays apart in our relationship but I'm not sure if it would be wise to include his rejections in the proof packet as a sign that he attempted to see me? Plus they are going to see that in his records anyways.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust starting I-129f - Questions for assembling

Hello Everyone!

I've been reading several posts for the last 2 weeks and I'm finally getting serious and filling out the application. I just created my account here to seek advice on questions I was not able to get answers to. So the following are questions that I have accumulated so far:

1. I cannot fit my fiance's Peruvian address in the fields they have provided.

- I've read both things, to make it fit in the first space but NOT confuse the USCIS and use the apartment and zip code spaces to make it fit, or to attach it on a separate sheet of paper (signed and dated?) and say "see attached" in the field.

- But I also read not to staple anything because it will get arranged as they please, so should I include it in the table of contents that that paper is inserted in the application?

2. On that note, I read I should keep the story of how we met short enough to fit in the field they provided instead of attached a sheet of our story?

3. Birth certificates. For some reason I can't determine the certificate number for this. I know everyone's birth certificate's are different. I found "Birth Number" on mine. Would that be it?

- Also would I need a scan of my fiance's and translated?

4. For the passport style pictures, will I need originals from my fiance or can he scan them to me and I print and cut them? Wouldn't that change the size they want if it prints wrong? I want to know because my mother will be traveling to Peru soon and I could potentially get the actual photos from him with her return.

5. Proof of seeing him in the past 2 years, should that be separate from proof of ongoing relationship? I read on the site (http://www.visajourn...t/k1guide#proof) That you only need a few things for the proof of visit in the past 2 years, and additional items can be used for the ongoing proof.

- Can I insert additional photos in the ongoing proof section but inserted into a word document, not actual photographs?

6. Translation - If I include our conversations (face time screen shots with date stamps, e-mails, scanned christmas card, etc.) should I get them translated? Would it hurt if I did? If anything is translated, must the person who translated be certified and sign something?

7. Proof of relationship in general

- I've been reading about front loading vs. the minimal items needed for the application. I really want to front load and be as detailed as possible. Is this a bad idea? I even have a screen shot of the conversation of when my fiance sent a picture of the ring he bought for me to my best friend for her to see. Another idea was including my parent's itinary flight to Peru back in March when they met him for the first time (I have pictures of that too). I thought of this because I sent gifts with them and they brought back gifts from him. I read that gift receipts are good to scan, and even thought there was no paper receipt to prove this exchange, my parents are the proof.

This last part has got me so nervous! I don't want to give too little proof but I don't want to give too much if they frown upon that. I'm reading some people have had great experiences with giving just enough, but others say the more the better...

Thank you for taking the time to look at these questions! Any other advice would be so helpful

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncluding Translation with Proof

I want to say thanks cristi for posting this question and the picture. My fiancee is also from Peru and we are preparing the I-129F package. I posted another thread asking for example of how to present translations. Well your thread answered my question, I appreciate it.

Aw I am so glad it helped you! I am so sorry for the late response. Let me know if you want any other examples :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncluding Translation with Proof

USCIS will probably not even read it, so not really a reason to translate it all. The relationship proof you add in with your I-129F is so it will be in your file and forwarded to your consulate for the K-1 interview and CO there to see. Things in the native language of the country you interview in do not need to be translated.

The most important things for the I-129F petition are to make sure you provided enough proof of having met face-to-face within the 2 years prior to filing, that you are both free to marry, and that you include all the required supporting documentation that goes along with the I-129F.

Thank you Jay-Kay!

I definitely did provide proof of contact in the past two years as stated in the post right before this one (passport scans, itinaries, screen shots of photos and dates, plus 6 actual printed photos). I am submitting the extra proof since I have read that it helps so that they don't have a reason to give you a RFE. I've also read that it gives them more material to question your fiancé at the interview, but I'd rather get that interview than get delayed for insufficient evidence.

If I have all the proper documents plus the 2 year contact proof, the extra can't hurt right?

If that's what you think though then I am glad to hear the way I provide the translation isn't as crucial as the other required elements. Thanks so much for the info!

cristi1231FemalePeru2013-07-26 19:28:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncluding Translation with Proof

Of course you may know this already, but proof of relationship is completely different than proof of meeting within 2 years. So many get RFEs for that.

Yes! The first part of the proof part is proof of contact in the past two years. My passport first page and the pages with the stamps to prove travel, my flight itinaries, photographs I took at an event with him in them (right before I met him) with screen shots of the date when I uploaded to my computer. Then I topped it off with 6 printed photographs of us the second time I went back to see him.

Then what follows is proof of ongoing relationship which has most of the items needed to be translated. After much research on the thread I concluded that it's better to give them more than little now so I have less chances for them to request an RFE. Also the proof of ongoing relationship is also proof of contact in the last 2 years anyways.

Your translations look good. When we did translations we also included clauses that says these translations are accurate and correct and I am competent to translate these documents.

I am not sure about what other people has done.

Ah yes! At the end of my packet is my letter of certified translation where I state that and sign and date it with my address. Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncluding Translation with Proof

Hello All!

I'm almost done assembling everything but wanted to double check my proof of relationship.

Being a graphic designer, I am very OCD with how I lay out images and text and hate Word! So I've used InDesign which makes it easier to lay out images with text.

I made it that, if I have a scan of a letter or screen shot of a conversation in Spanish, next to that in a light grey box I have the translation. And I have it laid out in a way that matched the original set up so who ever is reading it understands who is saying what.

Does that seem correct/efficient or should all translations be separate pages even if it's just 3 or 4 lines?

Would love to get input and see how others have done it.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to set a wedding date (during a K-1 process)?

It definitely varies like everyone is saying, but I have seen rare occasions of visa processes going more than a year. We applied August 2 of this year, 2013, and in my head I have August 15 of 2014 is a wonderful wedding date.

So I'm planning what I can around that. I havent booked or bought anything excepted my wedding dress.

Back in September after a month of sending our petition I was definitely freaking out wondering if I would be one of those rare cases that would take more than a year. I kept telling myself that I WOULD be the one to get that back luck haha.

But our petition has been being processed unsually fast!

So what I did is I researched. Look into several different locations, ask them what their cancelation policies are or what their policies are on moving the date. Most venues are ok with that with no fee as long as it's a date that they aren't booked. If you ever have to re-book and it's more than the 3 months allowance, you can always get married in court and do the religious when they are available!

I figured, if you're going to spend the money anyways, it's okay to book when you're 90% sure if they'll allow you to move the date with no fee as needed.

For wedding invites, I'm designing them and I just won't send them until my fiance is here with me with two months in advance. We just won't do save the dates to be cautious. probably just tell close friends and family by word of mouth to "save the month".

In the meantime I'm all about do-it-yourself so I can start with decorations and store them at home, especially if I go with fake flowers.

There's so much you can do while you wait without actually committing to a date. Definitely set a goal at least a year from now for you and your fiance and pray the process goes smoothly.

Like I said it's been going so smooth for us, in 3 months, our petition is already at the embassy and all we are waiting for is for my fiance to set up his interview date. Personally I'm going to start making final plans once we have an interview date. I already feel comfortable enough with the venues I have and the people I'm working with to trust them enough to accomodate me.

But like everyone is saying, it will vary and don't do anything if you're not so sure or comfortable. That's just all what's working for me so far. Take it a step at a time and after you send your petition, the best thing you can do is research! Especially before you get your NOA2 and you have to start researching the next step for that, get wedding research out of the way as soon as you can so you won't go insane cool.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA Month after Medical Exam: Update on Shots?

Ok, for a K-1 the vaccinations are NOT required to enter the US.  They are only required when you are filing adjustment of status.  Only the first vaccine of a series is required.  If you have already received your vaccines, you do not need to "update" them.  It is possible that you were eligible for a second dose of a vaccine, however it is not required in order to get your visa.

He should have gotten a copy of immunization for his own records when he picked up his results (not in the sealed envelope). We did and I know others have gotten it too...but we went to the male doctor. Did he go to the male or female doctor? Maybe the female does things differently?

Okay we figured it out. You two were right. It was not needed for the interview but they told him they were shots he was going to have to get in the US anyways and in Peru it's always cheaper so why not now? And he asked and they gave him a copy of his shots record. So now he's good to go! :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Hope this helps someone else too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA Month after Medical Exam: Update on Shots?

Was your fiance's immunization report marked as "Vaccine History Incomplete"?  A friend here, also from Peru, said her fiancee's was marked as "Incomplete" and also one of the shots was checked off as "Time Interval"....she thought that meant she needed a series of shots with a certain duration between them.  I don't know if that's the case for yours, but I would look at his immunization report and see what it says.  My fiancee got hers back from the clinic today but it's marked as "Vaccine History Complete" so we're hoping we're good to go.  Interview is tomorrow!  dancin5hr.gif

Hmmm I will ask him but aren't the results sealed? He can't open them right? I think they told him they are to "reinforce" them.

Cristiiii

hi! well it seems that it could be possible because today i received a call from the hospital, i didn't get to answer but when i call back someone told me "maybe it's because there have been an update i don't know, i can't give you more information" so i never knew why they call but now reading this maybe it's because a new shot. That would have been annoying. Maybe is for the influenza shot.
Good luck!!

Are you going to call back and see what they wanted? Let me know if they explain!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA Month after Medical Exam: Update on Shots?

Hello VJ family!

My fiance and I are in the final stretch. His interview is at the embassy in Lima Peru on January 30th

My fiance had his medical exam back on December 9th and he picked up his sealed results a week after.

Just today the clinic where he had his medical exam called him to come in and get more shots, an update of the shots since it has been a month.

Has anyone ever heard of this? Is this normal and necessary for the interview? We're not sure if the shots have to be up to date within a month of the interview or if it's a routine the clinic goes through. Sadly it means more money, we wouldn't have accepted the early medical exam date if had known.

Thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsRecieved our RFE last night. Here is what it says and what we are sending back. Is it ok?

We have not received a RFE but as a disclosure... we have not received the NOA2 yet. We sent in: passport copies (tagged with all of our trips together), bank statments and credit card statments (to prove we were in the same location), airline receipts and boarding passes (the ones we still had), & Skype logs. I dont know if this is enough, but if you can look through your old credit card statments (they typically state where you purchased the item) and hightlight relevant info... that may help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAnyone know what it means when USCIS changes your alien registration number?

I received that same notice on the USCIS website on September 4th and my NOA2 on October 15th. I called USCIS when the a# change was entered on the website and they stated "it means that they have put your information in the system and are compiling background checks on you and your fiancé... when they have enough information it is sent for approval to an office." I hope this helps!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApproved... What's next?
Hello everyone! My fiancé had his interview this past Tuesday in Sydney and was approved! We received an email today and the packet should arrive to his addresss anytime. I have a couple questions on what to do next.

When he arrives.... What should be first on our agenda?

We plan to get married right away (courthouse and start planning for a ceremony next year)... Do we need a social security number first? Or can we get married first then apply for a social security number? The algorithm for the k1 visa is a little unlcear.

How much time should we leave for the port of entry? In others words, he will have land in either LA or San Fran.... He will have a connection to come home to Washington DC. How much time should he allow for the customs in Cali?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you should probably have a lot of proof you were both in the same place Att he same time. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsReceived a 2nd Checklist exactly the same as the 1st! Help :(

i just got that same similar checklist the night before last and as soon as they emailed it to me i mailed it right back to them to cut down on the delay.  i am not sure of your situation but I do admit when i sent it in the first time to begin with it was not the best information provided. There was some things I didn't know like for instance I didn't know I had to do two AOS for both my step son and wife and I couldn't list any of them on each other AOS (vice versa) I another good tip is to read the instructions that come with the AOS with a fine tooth and comb cause I also  claim someone on my last recent taxes and didn't know I had to count them in the household number cause they don't live with me anymore but still had to count them, another thing I did was print out the last 6 months of my pay stubs from both of my two jobs and sought of estimated for the rest of the year the current annual income for this current year something I didn't do the first time. Another copy of my most recent tax returns 2013 and also my w2s from 2013 something I didn't do the first time. I did this for both AOS for stepson and wife with cover bar coded sheet and checklist. I separated the two AOS. Another thing I did was write the case number for both AOS on every sheet (separate of course).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresi-130 couple of questions

for your wife you would list her son you would not list yourself because it would already be understood that you are her husband. Remember other people are in other family situations  that are and may be different from you that are using this form. if you were filing for any other family member who had a spouse like your mom dad sister brother your would list thier spouse and or their children. And for your stepson you would put n/a meaning your stepson is not married nor has any children. The fact that your filing a i -130 its already understood that your wife is your wife and your stepson your stepson. Basically Do not list yourself on either forms its not necessary

and you do not have to put n/a on all the spaces one n/a or none is understood as none for all

hope thats helps I just sent in my two petitions for my wife and stepson also and got my first NOA1 recieved and under initial review

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresi-130 couple of questions

for your wife you would list her son you would not list yourself because it would already be understood that you are her husband that would be if you were filing for any other family member you would be filing for who had a spouse like your mom dad sister brother.
