Your next John

Thanks for the encouragement, Tim:

Actually, I broke down and called csc yesterday. After the obligatory groveling on my part, the lady informed me that our file was "on an officer's desk."

Well, at least it's out of a box in a trailer.

Here's hoping it will come soon.

Current Status: We mailed you a notice requesting additional evidence.

On November 7, 2007, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence and/or information in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence and/or information requested. This case will be held in suspense until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the information and/or evidence requested, you will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something further from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service.

Not having a fun day at all

Sorry you're not having a good day, but hopefully the RFE will be something easy that you can send to them as soon as you get the notice. At least you know they're working on your case and it'll resume as soon as you send back what they need. Most people get their approvals quickly after and RFE is taken care of. I know how said you must be since she just left as well, but at least you got to spend some time together...I'm envious smile.gif

Oops! Sorry about the errors..for some reason it wouldn't let me go back and correct them..s/b "an RFE" & "I know how sad..."

You have gone much longer then I have. I left her from a short visit on September 11th. I just wish she was with me now.

And Mr/Mrs Cleo you actually told me it was on the way at about 5:30 on the day I was approved. So within two hours of the USCIS website updating my approval. Very impressive. smile.gif

Thank you Tim....Now that I've gotten you and Ramzis fixed up, I now have to start concentrating on ours.......

Pardon my modesty, his patientness, but i think if you check, the last message you got before your approval was from your fans maria n john assuring you noa2 was on the way.......maybe we'll change our name to mr and ms cleo.....

Anyway, congratulations....

Eric, this is just a minor setback...now it's up to you to become the patient one (part II);

As for us, we got our first touch on 11/05 after I called to ask about a hard copy noa1; then yesterday, when i got home from a Quickbooks seminar in Orlando, I saw another touch (11/06). I'm interpreting all this as good news.

Whatever happens, each day Maria is 1 day closer to coming home....Waking up to that thought every morning makes each day more special for me. I cannot wait for the day I leave for Cebu to bring her home.

Jeraly:

I made an excel worksheet to calculate the day Maria will come home. Our sent date was 6/8, received date 6/18. My worksheet points to 11/05 for noa2, an interview date of 2/8 and an exit date (from the Philippines) of 2/15. Each day that our noa2 goes beyond the average noa2 date (as calculated by vj) our interview and exit dates are pushed back by that same day.

I don't know if I explained that very well, but I hope this is useful information. But I must add that those are our calculations. We had originally hoped Maria would come home for Christmas, but now we are thinking that we will be together on Valentine's day. However I admit we're not confident enough in the system to set any dates in stone.

I'll be grateful for that day to come, whenever that is.

Ramzis, with his stoic attitude and his ever patience, has been an example for all of us.

Also: If, as some people think, the backlog caused by the other visas is now gone, then I believe the time to noa2 (and vj's averages) will go down for people who have filed after us. Right now vj's average noa1 to noa2 for calif is 130, while our actual number is 149. Tomorrow it is 150, my calculated noa2 date. At some point, that number should start to go down for subsequent filers, but it will take longer to go down than it took to come up (when we filed, I think the average noa1 to noa2 was 72 days).

Noa2 to interview has not changed significantly (in fact it has gone down recently for us), but I think that may have been caused by the backlog in the first phase. By that I mean the following: Because the service centers were not sending as many foreign applications to to nvc, the embassies had fewer interviews to do, consequently the average from nvc to interview went down. When the flow from nvc starts to go back up (as we are beginning to see with the increase in noa2's) then nvc to interview will begin to take longer as well.

Historically, I suspect that june filers' timelines will be the longest for all filers and will subsequent timelines will SLOWLY return to pre-june averages.

My comments are just my ideas. I do not have any experience with this, and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Anyhow, good luck to you, good luck to all of us.

Well my guess was monday so who knows. I think they are having too much fun touching mine Or maybe they are using it as A place mat. I have gotten a touch every day since friday. Except saturday. That makes 6 now.

I pray it is our time soon.

hmmmm.......we have not had a single touch......In fact, I'm thinking about touching myself just so I know what it feels like......

I don't think touches mean much. Lots of people don't get any.

Well, I've heard of women who won't touch their husbands
and I've heard of men who won't touch their wives;
I've heard of women who won't touch other men's husbands

but I wonder what it means when one's government won't
even touch you?

Other item: An immigration attorney to whom I'd spoken recommended that I send in the I-134 (or whatever the "financial support" package is) along with the original I-129F. I did this. Two questions: [1] Could this be slowing down the processing of my I-129F? [2] Will I have to resubmit a fresh I-134 package during the next step of the paperwork process, or can I simply send a notarized affidavit to say that the finances are materially the same as they were in May?

I don't know for sure so sorry in advance for answering. I also sent mine with the I-134 and mine seems to be taking longer too. I have gotten touched Every day since Friday and suspect it is the affidavit of support slowing things down. My roommate that submitted his at the same time I did was approved on the 18th and the only difference between our petitions is I sent mine with the I-134 and he didn't. After I had already sent my packet I read on VJ that it isn't recommended to submit it this early in the process.

Thanks, Tim, and thanks to the others who have replied. If it's true that the I-134 slows things down, there are two lessons: [1] Avoid sending unnecessary material that will confuse morons, and [2] 99% of all attorneys give the rest of them a bad name!

Hahahaha Isn't that the trouth. My ex-wife's attorney comes to mind.

Scott, re your comments about staying positive:

You are exactly correct. I read an earlier post where some guy was trying to get something going about writing letters to Lou Dobbs and Oprah. He said he was happy he could be an example to others. A letter to Lou Dobbs? to Oprah? When I stopped laughing, I realized the dude was serious about himself (or herself, whichever it was).

The point is this is a process we have to go through to get to something that is important to us. I believe that my government is doing what it can to protect our citizens, in a manner it thinks correct. I'm not smart enough to suggest public policy, but I think it should be based on something more than selfish interest. Quite frankly, I doubt that the civil servants who carry out policy foresaw the coming of recent problems. It appears that they handled those problems as best they could, given the resources available to them. And I, for one, am not interested in pouring more money down the government drain to merely shorten the process, if it is in fact working efficiently. I doubt anyone here has the knowledge to intelligently comment on the efficiency of this process and I suspect if they do they are probably sympathetic with those workers who are on the wrong end of someone's anonymous wrath.

Calling somone names (retard, etc.) simply because he/she works for the government is baseless, tasteless and spineless. I feel bad for those workers who have no choice but to sit and to listen to the braaing (I think I spelled that correctly) of sheep with their incessant complaints about which the employees can do nothing. The guy comes in in the morning, punches the clock, does the best job he can while he's at work and goes home at the end of the day (just like most of us here). Making derrogatory comments about our government is safe in a venue that provides anonymity. Saying it in a public place may be a bit more hazardous to one's health. (Not from the government, but from someone who takes offense about such comments.) Constructive advice and suggestions will always be useful, but ignorant criticism yields no benefit.

Scott, yours is the logical approach. This is one part of a journey. Our view is similar to yours. We do what is in our power to speed up the process and we are optimistic about the outcome. We, too, choose to be patient but attentive to what is happening. We eagerly look forward to the day Maria comes home. When this process is over and she is finally here, we will have lifelong memories (fond ones) about all we went through to get her here. And we will have learned about ourselves and each other in the process.

We're getting close; very close, and it gets more exciting every day. Originally we had hoped she would be home for Christmas, then New Year's. Now it looks like we're going to have the best Valentine's Day ever. And if it's later still, we'll still find something positive about it, whenever it is.

Good luck to you, Scott, and to all of us.
