US Embassy and Consulate Discussionnvc sent to the wrong embassy
On March 11th I called nvc and was told they they didn't have my case yet.
On March 12th I called and was told that they had received my case and I let them know that I was sending a letter to change the embassy. (sent overnight)... but they wouldn't let me change the embassy on the phone (new rules???)
On March 13th I called and was told that the case had been sent out on the 12th to the Netherland (needs to go to Ireland)

So it means they had my case for one working day (8 hours...) and even though I told them I had to change the embassy they still sent it out. The lady told me that it was out of their hands and I must now try to work with the dutch and irish embassies to get my case to the correct location (Ireland).
Has anyone on here gone through something like this? Did you have to write or fax a letter releasing your case to the other embassy? I really want to get on the final leg of this long journey.... I can't believe it was less than 8 hours at the nvc sigh

US Embassy and Consulate General Discussion
You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 and I-134 is your parent a dependent?
I am getting packet 3 together and so far I have:
W2 forms
Pay stubs
I-134 for myself
I-134 for my parents
Letter from work
Is there anything else I should send in with regards to this... I dont' need to prove a bank account or investment ect?

For my parents I-134, my mom is my co sponsor, so should she include my dad as a dependent or no because he get's social security benefits? Either way with or without the extra person the money will be more than enough so what should I have them put? Also on question #11 with regard to specific contributions, should she just say no as she will provide general support?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 yes another topic about this great form!
I was wondering if it really hurts anything to put "Unemployed/full time student" as my occupation. I have a co sponsor since I don't make any money and my form is more or less worthless (yes I know I am still the main sponsor... but as far as getting the visa now...).

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDo they deliver the visa the same day??
It won't make any difference why your there, as for Canada it seems to be within a week but I would double check with more people that have gone through there. Some embassies are same day and others are two weeks +.

Can I get a visa at a local location? I don't know if there is a Vietnamese embassy in Houston, but do I have to got through the embassy in Washington, DC?

Here is a vietnam visa in hong kong for air travel that would take 15 mins to get, you could pick it up in person and fly there http://www.myvietnam...a-hongkong.html

I don't know about getting it done in the u.s., I know in Hong Kong they find ways to get it done fast. But I will keep looking for a u.s. location

How can I get a visa in a week? Is ther a faster way ? It has taken 2 weeks when I got the others? I am frantic. She also hasn't gotten her police record back yet. It has been a few weeks. Will that stop the process if we go to interview without it?

I need HELP and PRAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am frantic. I can get the stuff together to take to her, but this is all happening so fast and I feel like I am chasing my tail. All good advice though. Thanks and keep it coming. I need to book a flight and get a visa and a million other thinhgs, but i am egar to hear more replies!!!

About the visa feel like a trip to Hong Kong? You can go there visa free there is a visa place that can get you a chinese visa next day (pm me) and then enter mainland china and go to Yunnan prov... cross the border by land and get it on arrival (I am pretty sure they do this.. but google to make sure). I know what your going through about the last second trip.. I have done it twice, once to Amsterdam in less than 3 hours and once to Ireland from China (moved everything.. in less than 6 hours). It was hard but I managed to get it done and so can you.

I see in the documents they sent her that she can request to delay the interview, but I don't know if she can request to delay the interview or reschedule it for a certain time or date, or if they would reschedule it for some other unknown time. It is impossible to get a person on the phone at the Consulates office, so I don t want to delay it indefinitely, perhaps months. Maybe in that case it would be better to attend the interview illprepared and then take the documents when they arrive??? I dont know.

I would like to attend the interview, but she works for an American employer there and will give them a months notice. It is required for many reasons (I tried to talk her out of it, but her severence pay is dependant on it and she may have continued employment with the company here in the States). I cant stay in Vietnam for a month again. Also she wants to have a wedding party sort of thing for her family and that will be in the first of June (when we thought this would come about based on timelines). So I will not attend the interview because I cant fly back twice in 2 months.
So now I am franticly trying to get the doc's together and will FedEx them, but what if they are not there by the interview date? Will that reflect so poorly that the Consulate will damn the paperwork. Which is my best choice? Delay the interview? Can we delay it until a certain date, like say... May 10th? or is that there discretion? Or should she go to the interview and say "I don't have those documents yet"? Will they give her a request for more info and tell her to come back when she gets the doc's?

I know this is my fault. I should have been prepared for this and not given so much credit to how long it normally takes. But now what? Has anyone ever delayed an interview?

I agree almostawesome, I am not sure if I can pull it off. It is 10 days away. I don't know if I can get away from work.

You may not have to worry about a second trip if you don't attend the interview. Maybe a second one way to live there.

Yeah, I think it's more important to get the visa than to attend a wedding party that might not even be needed if it's not approved. Who knows, you might be able to get a last second plane ride for next to nothing and have a nice dinner on the 28th.

This may be a country specific issue; I know here in Ireland, any vaccinations you need is included in the medical fee (317 euro last year)- I had to have a tetanus shot and it was done right there during the medical, with no extra fee

Really? We had the medical in Dublin on April 3 and had to go back two weeks later for the HPV shot and the Dr. told us that many families go there and spend 1000+ euros on vaccinations. But the tetanus shot is cheap compared to the 140 euros HPV shot. Also I believe that p3 said vaccinations are not part of the 317 euro fee, but I will need to find that and make sure.

Interesting! Maybe it depends on the doctor then? I specifically asked about extra costs for vacinations, as I thought I may need a couple of boosters for childhood vaccines and was afraid of the extra costs, and was told on the phone by the receptionist there would be no extra costs, which proved true. I went to the ParkAvenue clinic in Dublin.

It might be, I tried to go to the ParkAvenue one but I couldn't get in until next month sad.gif so I gave Dr. Kelly on Drumcondra Road a call and was able to get in the next day. How often are people able to move up their interview date? Mine is May 18th but I have all of my stuff ready to go, I tried to talk to the embassy but they have since gone to an all email system sad.gif and they don't seem to like to respond to my emails. Just 20 days ago I could call them up and they would always answer my phone calls.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 fiancee visa - What vaccinations are required for Medical exam in Rio?
QUOTE (John & Ana @ Apr 22 2009, 08:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiancee went to the doctor in Rio and got a whole ton of vaccinations before she went to talk to the doctor who will do the final medical exam. She has everything on the vaccination list except for Varicella, which is Chicken Pox vaccine. The vaccination list is here:

http://travel.state..../info_1331.html

The huge problem we have is that the doctor will not give her the Varicella vaccination within 30 days from her other vaccinations because he says it would make her too sick. This means she may be unable to get the medical exam prior to our interview on May 19th.

Here's the thing, I found this:

QUOTE
As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

Found here:

http://travel.state....tml#Vaccination

The documentation from the Brazilian embassy's site says this:

QUOTE
In order to be eligible for an immigrant visa, you and your accompanying relatives included in the process must undergo a medical examination. It is necessary to conduct blood tests, a chest x-ray, vaccinations and a physical exam (including basic gynecological and breast examination).

Found here:
http://www.embaixada..._2008)dec08.pdf

Which is correct, the official US government website or the US embassy site in Brazil? Can we convince the doctor that the US visa website is correct? Should we go elsewhere and just get her the vaccine?

I have scheduled a trip to go see her and attend the interview, but she won't pass the interview if we don't have a medical certificate, there is no point in going.

Her aunt that she lives with also died last weekend, and I am not sure what is going to happen to her apartment, she may be homeless soon on top of all this.

Meanwhile, I go to the Brazilian Embassy in Los Angeles, pay $130, and I get a 5 year visa to Brazil good for unlimited entry, all in a week's time. Really makes me love my country even more for putting me through all this BS to get my fiancee here, when I could go to Brazil as much as I want for one form, $130, and a week of waiting.

Another interesting tidbit, the Brazilian Embassy in LA shares a building with Larry Flynt Publications, AKA Hustler!!!

I know in South America they love to rip you off... but shouldn't the Dr. put "vh" for vaccination history? Almost everyone gets chicken pox when they are younger and the shot is worthless. Also... can't the Dr. mark it has medical inappropriate because of possible reactions to other shots?

I have called dos to confirm that the interview is set for April 27th but can't get the embassy on the phone yet. Do you think I will have a problem getting in? I know last time I went there the security called the imig unit up and talked with them in person.

We changed appointment date twice.. If the embassy sent you a confirmation letter when you changed the appointment schedule to an earlier date then that would not be a problem.. Just bring both confirmations (May 18 and April 27) with you during the interview date.. Goodluck! star_smile.gif

I just got an email from the embassy, they said to just go to the interview even if I don't have it. The orginal appointment date is enough to prove I have a case and interview at that embassy, everything about the switch can be taken care of with a simple phone call from security smile.gif But I will still print the letter from the embassy and take with me.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffidavit of Support confuses me!
QUOTE (BowieChick @ Apr 24 2009, 06:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I always read people asking about this sort of thing but I read so much on here and I end up getting confused.
Ok.
It's about the 1-134 affidavit of support.

I know right now that I am not even close to meeting the minimum requirements so I am having my parents co-sponsor. What I'm confused about is should I just fill out one but not really bother with providing evidence for myself since I would just be proving that I can't support us on my own? And then have my parents fill out another and THEY include evidence. Like do I need to even bother with getting bank statements, etc for myself?

I don't know why this part confuses me so much, blah!

The way I look at it... it takes at most a few hours to get your stuff (and really a whole lot less than that) and if they ask for it your have it and if they don't you get to shred it. So I would just go ahead and do it, I know I got my life insurance and bank statement even though I have a co sponsor.
