Featherb, mags - I feel bad for you.

My hair is totally opposite to yours!

Mine is so dark it shines blue AND red in the light, its weird.
And its so thick - drives me crazy. I know everyone says having thick hair is better but honestly ,I spend a fortune on anti frizz, endless hours straightening it for it to STILL look wavy and my ponytail is thick!

If I bleach my hair I have to dye it *3* times before it sticks and isn't just orange!

Well you see for me, my hair is REALLY dark brown, almost black and is EVIL to dye cause it doesn't accept anything.

And I don't dye my hair normal colours

United KingdomTremors in Kent!

I just phoned my parents who live on the Kent/East Sussex border, about 20 miles from Folkestone. They haven't watched the news all day, so were shocked when I told them there was an earthquake!

My mum said she was sitting up reading in bed and the bed shook, the mirror moved and the curtains moved like a window was open! She thought a big lorry had gone past

Then she asked my dad if he had heard about it, he said no, but he thought he felt the ground move, just didn't mention it to her cos she'd think he was nuts!

I love my parents!!

They sound so english, what?! an earthquake?! here, in england? CRAZY talk

Glad that everyone seems to be ok though.

USCIS Service CentersAdjucator Field Manuel!
Very interesting stuff.

I found this in the interview section

"Don't Complain or Use Sarcasm or Patronizing Language . Doing so is disrespectful and conveys to the applicant that you don't take the process or the applicant seriously"

How many of us have had too many USCIS employees treat us like that?

USCIS Service CentersVSC OR CSC
Things change just be patient. When we filed way back in '06 vsc was lightening fast and csc was awful and slow. I had moved along in the process to the point of starting embassy stuff while others were waiting on noa2. You just never know

United KingdomP85 - Claiming back UK tax when leaving UK permanently

Ok I filed mine myself, but with the help of an accountant, who messed things up a little, but I sent in all the finished and correctforms a bout 3 months ago now, no refund just yet.

I sent mine off in December but only got the rebate about 3 weeks ago. They're not very quick...

I started my stuff in november :P

Stupid tax office, I guess they just don't want to let go of their money!

United KingdomAfter a delay at embassy, visa finally arrived!
Well reason was that I was told that I could just show the evidence and do the proper form later, however obviously at the interview it wasn't so but the guy really helped, and I too am glad it came through quickly!

Thanks for all well wishes and congrats :D

United KingdomAfter a delay at embassy, visa finally arrived!
Well on 5th dec I had my interview and was all cleared apart from.....stupid affadavit of support! I didn't have one due to time and stress and thought I could do it without it, but no I couldn't! However he was very helpful, told me what forms to make them do, to send it to me express mail then courier to him he'd get it to me asap, well he did, it arrived yesterday (fri) and the guy only got it tuesday! So I'm very happy now after all that stress.

And now I'm traveling over tomorrow to the US! :D

United KingdomUK Embassy interview
I took tax returns in with my I-134 because I was asked to send them in, I had a bit of a delay with mine.

Other than that though I had no questions about my relationship whatsoever, I took loads of info including receipts and stuff, I think its a good idea just to make sure but I personally didn't need them

Good luck!!! :-D
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-01-18 09:48:00
United KingdomI134 Question
Yeah my mother in law and husband made a mistake on my age and a date on the form they sent to me so i used white out and it was fine, no probs.
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-01-24 10:27:00
United KingdomFinally an interview
Wow thats a long time to have to wait, I understand its a hassle but you will have to wait longer. He cant go over, he has to go to the appointment and you'll just have to push back the flights till he can come over with the visa, then he can stay! And with the work thing (the EAD) it does take a while and you'll have to file for it with or after the adjustment of status form within 90 days of him getting there.

United KingdomHow far from liverpool st station to the medical.
I went on the tube - but that wasn't the difficult bit. its back a few streets and I had difficulty finding it, so if your not keen on the tube, I would definitely go by taxi!
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-02-02 10:25:00
United KingdomProof of ongoing relationship for interview
I didn't actually take or need anything like that for my interveiw. I'd already been asked to submit evidence of relationship earlier in the process (photos, plane stubs, letters) and that worked fine!

What you have seems fine, I wouldn't take the quotes from the wedding places cause its not really evidence of your relationship - just that you called somewhere, but the rest is fine!

Good luck!
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-02-12 21:23:00
United Kingdom4 More days
I hope you get to feeling better, I know how stressful this is.

When I moved over I didn't have a house and those sorts of things to deal with but I did have my belongings and all the other things that come in with moving.

I even though I wanted to go and was excited, when it came to the last couple of days I was very sad and felt very strange and weird at the thought of leaving, but once you get to your plane, that goes and excitment comes in!

Good luck :-)

United Kingdoma thak you to my fellow UK VJers
I kinda feel bad for my husband having to hear me go on about how great VJ.

It truly is nice to have somewhere to talk about britain with, I'm starting to miss it and no one here understands, and its good to talk to you all!
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-02-14 19:39:00
United KingdomWhat do you miss the most from the UK?
Haha I just got out the credit card and ordered me some minstrels, weetabix, galaxy, cadburys, salad cream, ah bisto gravy granules and what else? oh yeah, custard:-D
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-02-18 11:44:00
United KingdomWhat do you miss the most from the UK?
I miss good chocolate.
Seriously, mags and I have been discussing this and I am getting out the credit card and ordering some from the import sites!

I miss neighbours! I know its really sad, but I do.

I kinda feel I don't fit in around here, I'm not a redneck and I "talk funnney", so I miss fitting in somewhere were we use the same words. I hate being made fun of all the time because of the way I say things.

Like others I miss good cheap high street clothes shops and good public transportation, in this town it really sucks for that.

I miss some of my friends.

I miss sausages and good bacon!

I dont miss alot of stuff though and wouldn't move back and love it here, but I still miss somethings!

Just relax and be prepared to hang around a bit, sometimes they take their sweet time ;-)

United KingdomLondon Appointments (Medical & Interview)
When I called for mine they gave me the next available time but it wasn't good for me so I got the next slot and it was about 2 weeks later I got the appointment.

My interview came through really quickly, you can't do anything to help it, it just depends!

Good luck :)

Yay to it all going well!

I went to the other doctors office but sounds like we had the same doc, lol. I liked him well.
I made a friend at the docs office too and she pointed me to here, wonder who she is? haha

As you said, you've done it before, you'll do it again, and you have your fantastic hubby with you! (F)

As for the journey, make sure you get some good rest along the way! I know thats a along journey, the longest I have done was PA - Las Vegas in July with a van with 6 people! UGH!

United KingdomAdvice Needed - Wednesday Interview
You will do just fine, calm down :)

I didn't even get asked for any relationship evidence at all, but you never know!

Just take what you have, and photos perhaps?!

Calm down and make sure you sleep the night before, and eat in the morning. I didn't and it felt terrible!

United Kingdomwhat do i do before leaving the UK????

hi to all!

will be leaving the UK next month.
i want to make sure i sort out everything i need to before i leave the country.
can you guys tell what stuff you had to do apart from visa stuff before you went to the states?
please let me know.
thanks

Tell the Inland Revenue and DSS you are leaving. If you have paid tax in the current tax year and have a P45 download the form and claim back any overpayment of tax. The DSS because they need to know re any pension you may be entitled to in years to come.

This is true, I filled out the form saying I was leaving the country and have some taxes coming back but with pensions and all, its definitely something to be worked out.

Make sure you pig out on english food now, you'll miss it later.

And the people you aren't TOO bothered about seeing befre you go, make sure you do see them, you'll regret it later
