United KingdomLondon Embassy Packet 3 Question
I agree with Timsdaisy...

Its mainly just more forms to fill out.

You won't need your police certificate untill the interview, but you will need the ones from the different counties. I had to get mine from the Hampshire police also and mine too AGES, the full 40 days!

United KingdomMore Packet 3 Questions

Hi All - a few dumb questions as I am trying to complete the packet 3 questions

-Can the DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157 and DS-230P1 forms be printed and submitted on A4 paper, obviously the US use LETTER paper and all the documentation they have sent me is printed on LETTER paper.

A4 is fine.

-Do people tend to use recorded delivery to return the completed forms, or has standard 1st delivery proved OK?

I used registered delivery, it was fine. There have been some queries regarding the completed packet 3 ending up in a PO BOx, but those members have started getting interview dates now, so it isn't a problem.

-Do I need to attach the passport size photos to the two copies of DS-156, or will that happen during the visa interview using the two passport photos I have been asked to provide (sorry sounds obvious, but it doesn't seem to be spelled out).

Varies. I took mine with me to the consulate and they did it. Others here have attached them themselves. Doesn't seem to matter too much.

I did the EXACT same as this

United KingdomVaccination Records and London Medical Questions
Hi!

Reading the guides in those links will help and what mags' said was right, thats what I went and did also!
He can try and get any needed vaccines beforehand or he can have them on the day of the interview, however it WILL cost more that way!

Good luck (F)

United KingdomReally Dumb questions you've been asked about the UK

Ok when i was in Orlando with my fiancee she said to me about Brits wearing socks and sandals, i said "what you talking about, its an American thing, not an English thing" so we had a bet the first to 10 on who wears socks and sandals, i won...more Americans wear socks with sandals...she was shocked

I always thought it was the German Tourists who did this!

No they are the one's that put their towels on all the sunbeds cos they rise earlier than the Brits who have usually been out on an all night drinking binge....lol

Thats probably pretty true!

I don't think so -- though you do seem irritated that I've pointed out the flip side to this conversation.

How dare you disagree with the general consensus, Robin! ;)

The original post was:
'Really Dumb questions you've been asked about the UK'

a.k.a.

I believe the original topic was: "How f***ing ignorant are Americans about Britain?" ;)

It was a dig on Americans, no matter how you put it.

I honestly don't feel like it was a dig at americans, well not in MY opinion. I love americans (obviously ;) ) and on the whole are alot more friendly and easier to get along with than brits.
However, sometimes the questions you get asked can be funny. Especially when like me you live in a VERY remote area where people don't travel much.

AND, my family have asked some pretty stupid albeit funny questions to my husband too, and thats just as good!

I defend Americans back home too.

It does seem though that traveling to another country turns you in to a strange monster.

Oh my yes british tourists are terrible....my mother made me cringe so much:

"...all I want is a proper cup of tea"

"do you have a pen? oh he doesn't understand D-O- Y-O-U- H-A-V-E-A-P-E-N? PEN?!?!" then makes circle shapes in the air

United KingdomReally Dumb questions you've been asked about the UK

Oh god... I've just remembered, well, not a 'dumb question', but something someone told me that made me think 'please tell me you didn't really say that?!?'...

Again, in San Diego, on one of those tram things that go down to the border (en route to the, um, very 'delightful' Tijuana), with a friend. A guy heard our accents and started talking to us, telling us that he was in the army, and had been stationed overseas somewhere (Iraq, most likely, but I forget) and met a lot of people in the British army. He told us about some guy from Northern Ireland who had inexplicably taken offence when asked 'oh, so you're in the IRA, right?'... he couldn't understand why that didn't go down so well...

  oh wow

I moved to Pennsylvania and I have learned that PA is half the size of England, and it has 12 million people living there.

So when I have been asked and pestered about do I know someone I tell them that although England is only twice the size of PA (which you know, is kinda decent) it has SIXTY MILLION PEOPLE IN IT! and I tell them that PA has 12 mil people and if it was double it would have probably about 24mil and remind them again about the 60 mil...they kinda look shell shocked theres that many people in England

Some I posted in another thread but I'll re-post here:

Do you speak English there?

How long would it take to drive there?

Have you seen the Eifel tower in London?

I have also been asked about this person ....do I know them? knowing/meeting royal family etc.

Been asked about electricity, running water.

And TWICE asked "so...what do you guys do there for fun?"

My police certificate took AGES to come through, so long I was waiting on it to send to the embassy to get my interview! Stupid thing.
But yours came quick and the NOA2 is taking ages.

Maybe the gods got confused and made the NOA2 take ages and the police certificate fast? ;)
