United Kingdom2005 - 2007 UK Filers *Only*
QUOTE (Lauren and Dave @ Mar 7 2009, 08:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Its approaching two years for me also. I was bored this morning and started filling out my I751 then thought...I have three more months....why am I doing this now? I guess I must miss those 10 months of fretting over my AOS, checking USCIS everyday, on Visa Journey every day, opening the mailbox with anticipation and closing it with disappointment. It gave my life meaning.

On the other hand, its great here and have no plans to live in the UK again. I agree about the winters, especially here in New York. My first winter here I had no understanding of what 0 F meant. -17C is the answer and frickin cold...it felt like a burning sensation it was so cold. I joined a footie team in the March of 2007 and showed up to the first game straight from work with only shorts and tshirt in my bag. I soon put my work shirt back on under the team jersey, then put my hat on and scarf and gloves. I wanted my long woolen coat too but it would have severely hampered my performance. I may move to SoCal too in the near future!!!!

I DID move to SoCal - got tired of the northwestern PA winters and moved out to San Diego 6 months ago! lol.

About to remove conditions, yay the angst begins!

United KingdomWhat Won't You Miss About The UK?

Pigeons.

I will not miss pigeons. Specifically, I will not miss the flock of the bloody things that wakes me up every morning flapping and cooing outside my window... hideous birds! I never understood why people hated pigeons so much 'til this particular flock of hell-birds took up residence here. I open the back door and there's about 30 of them crammed shoulder to shoulder along my 'garden' (tiny concrete yard) fence, glaring at me with their red pigeon eyes. It's like something out of The Birds... they're going to get me, I know it!!!

And yeah, I know there's pigeons in the US, but the only ones I've seen are pretty little dove things, not the horrible mutant creatures that you get in London... must be that diet of chewing gum, cigarette butts and discarded kebab that makes them so, um, 'special'.

Pigeons are just rats with wings. Hate the buggars and, without being too graphic here, their poop REALLY stinks.

Thats true though, but to be honest, what poop doesn't stink? ;)

What I think is funny is when you live somewhere and enjoy things (I'm talking about chocolate, cakes, biscuits, bacon etc etc), you basically take it for granted because its there, you can have it whenever that you end up NOT having it whenever.

When you leave it, you can get it, so if you find it somewhere you binge and eat more than you used to of it just cause you CAN get to it!

Your right, it is an opinion thread, so therefore everyone has their opinion.

I think American bacon sucks also, its weird.

My husband thinks our bacon sucks and is more like ham slices  I say he has no clue! :P

I don't miss Uk sales tax, thats for sure.

Yea, another medical examination is required
For AoS - even though one was done recently! A pain I know but just find a local
Civil surgeon and follow the guidelines.

Asia: East and PacificHelp...we got blue slip!
I am sorry to hear this!

I was given a blue slip also - but for fiancial purposes, I still have my passport but I had to send my stuff back, so mine was relatively easy to sort out but I do understand how you feel!

I agree with the others about the affadavits, your family members, friends even? saying they know you.

I read somewhere that relationship affadavits should include the persons name, address, date of brith and social security number stating basically that they know you, your fiance and that you have a bona fide relationship and that they have seen you in this that or the other kind of social situation on this date or in this time period.

Good luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWaiting for the arrival of your visa
Hi, I'm new and I have been reading around here for awhile, and I need some quick advice.
I apologise if this isn't in the right place, however I don't have stable internet access so here we go.

I've got my interview next week for my K1 in London and I wondered how long others have had to wait for the arrival of their visa? If you can help, it'd be great.

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestions about what to bring to the interview
The things you really HAVE to have are your I-134 and supporting docs(supporting docs could be w-2's, depends on your financial situation), origional and copy birth certificate, police certificate and copy, passport photos, those things listed on your document check list.

Then you can take evidence of your relationship which would be photos, plane tickets and the like but you don't HAVE to take this. you just may be asked for evidence of relationship. I took nothing and was asked for nothing.

Thats not really abuse, its just minor use. I would say no.

Just because if further down the line your want to become a citizen, being a drunkard is one of the no no things, and if you aren't actually an abuser of achlohol, don't make yourself one.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134--intend or do not intend?
ofcourse, thats fine, I was just sharing what we did, I don't think it matters TOO much :D
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-03-08 10:22:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134--intend or do not intend?
Well heres my situation:
My husband is a full time student and makes about $7000 a year, obviously we needed a co-sponser.
On his form he put what I said and his mother the co-sponser said she would contribute to us whatever we needed.

Hope this helps.
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-03-08 10:10:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134--intend or do not intend?
You need to put intend, because its saying that they intend to support you.

We put intend and my husband put that he intended to suport me with room and board for the duration of our marriage - and now we've done the I-864.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI think I got it!!!
You'll be fine, they just need the results on hand before issuing the visa, takes the doctors about 3 - 4 days to get the results over to the embassy, and when they get them, they'll send your visa to you! Congrats!!!! :D
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-03-13 17:33:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwill they cancel the visa after a certain time?
They told me I was approved also - aslong as I sent them what they wanted.

My then fiance is also a full time student and didn't make near the poverty lines - but they still HAVE to fill out the form too, because hes going to be your spouse, there for primarily responsible for you, if they don't make enough, thats what co-sponsers are there for. Just have him do the form.

My co-sponser made WAY above the poverty line, they just wanted some extra paperwork from them.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwill they cancel the visa after a certain time?
They just weren't happy with the evidence of that we submitted with the co-sponser, they decided they wanted more tax returns and stuff, but it wasn't a big deal.
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-03-23 10:06:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwill they cancel the visa after a certain time?
I do not know how long/if/what/when they cancel or anything.

But I had the request for extra evidence of support at the embassy also. However, I got my fiance to fed ex it to me and I had it in to them about 4 days later and had the visa and passport back within the week. The visa wasn't actually issued untill they mailed it, the date of issurance was once they had the paperwork they wanted, so technically you don't actually even have a valid visa yet.

I would just advise getting to them whatever it is they want ASAP.

My delivery w as a kinda funny story, won't go in to details here but I will just say that no I didn't know a certain time, only time you know roughly when they are coming is if you paid for it to be there before 8am, etc etc....other than that they are SUPPOSED to sms you when its coming, but they don't always.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFiancé's Interview in 10 days
I was so stressed out at my interview I could of powered a WHOLE city.

THinking back though, you really just have to remember why your doing this and also remember that you really are in love and that won't change, and as you are in love, all will go ok!

I did not sleep the night before, couldn't eat and was in a blind panic as I approached the embassy, however once I was in, I made myself calm down by thinking about the last time that I had seen my fiance, and also, thinking about how it will not be long untill you see your beloved again and this time, theres no goodbyes...I calmed down alot and the interview went fine.

Now I even had complications with required documents they needed but it was ok, I was calm after that.

Remember that the interview, while ofcourse being important will go fine aslong as you are truly inlove, even if you don't have something they want you can get it to them and it will be ok.

Good luck guys!

Please please please don't buy them untill after the embassy.

I almost did this because I saw cheap prices but I got RFE'd at the embassy and had a delay - I would of lost the tickets if I had bought them!

I did end up paying about $500 more than I would of done to begin with but better than that ASWELL as the first plane ticket cost.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSponsoring fiance

Not sure on some of your questions, but the person sponsoring does not have to be currently working if they have other assests. I'm using my parents as co-sponsors but they are both retired.

At least let me know what do they want sponsor to show?
you have to show income proof for last year or last 3 years or current year?

The way I understand it is....your income has to meet the poverty level by 125% according to how many live in the household and are supported (or will be) by you the petitioner. They are going to want to know if your SO will be a public charge (I know you know all this just bear with me). Your assets have to equal more than the 125% though, as in 3 or 5 times the amount listed as the poverty level you fall under:

If assets are needed to meet the minimum income requirement:
(a) Evidence of assets with a cash value that equals at least five
times the difference between your total household income and
the poverty guideline for your household size (see chart below):
Example for a Household of 4:
125% Poverty Guideline $25,813 (2007)
Sponsor’s Income $18,000
Difference $7,813
Multiply by 5 X 5
Minimum Required Cash Value
of Assets
$39,065

Hope this helps.

Thats basically how it was explained to me at the interview.
