Thanks for the info! I was wondering if anyone else had tried it! I had done it at a different service center before for my green card early with no problems. If they say no it's ok I can come back just would save the extra running... I'll most definitely be super polite! What time of day did you go in?

California CRIS does not live far from me, so I would imagine CRIS likes the sun and maybe likes the surf, but perhaps not. Sometimes CRIS is forgetful, makes silly mistakes, or takes his time, but CRIS is there eventually wink.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionReminder to remove conditions
This week I recieved a notice from USCIS (forwarded from my old address even though I DID change addresses with them) informing me that I need to file a joint petition to remove the conditions on my green card, which ofcourse I already knew.

I just wondered if anyone else had gotten this notice, as I thought they didn't send out notices!

Well I do not know for sure but I would imagine with them taking your money and giving you a NOA1 that they accepted it, I wouldn't imagine they would do that otherwise. Seems like the overnighting helped!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussiongreen card expires soon - still no NOA
So I called the 1800 number and spoke to someone who told me my NOA was mailed out sometime in May right around the time they cashed my check but they that is had not as yet been declared undelivered as they had not got it back as of yet. Apparently my biometrics letter was mailed out yesterday so hopefully I get that! She said to do infopass or wait until next week to call for it to be reissued - I am not going to take my chances! Infopass on friday.

Thanks for the reply - I have made an appointment for friday more for infopass - the check that has been cashed is unclear but I will still take it with me! Going to call the 1800 number now and see if that helps.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussiongreen card expires soon - still no NOA
So this weekend on 6/20 my green card expires - I filed to remove conditions in May, the package was received and the check was cashed soon after that but as of yet I have recieved no NOA! Now my concern is being in legal status - what do I do to prove my legal status? I live in an area that status is questioned frequently and my employer is asking for proof of extension. I just got back from a week out of town today and my mail had nothing from USCIS while I was gone so basically I am asking for advice.

Do I make an Infopass appointment to try to get a stamp? If I do what are the chances of this happening with nothing but the check clearing as proof of filing.

I am getting nervous, please help!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy experience of getting the stamp due to no NOA
You should go and see about getting the stamp its good to have just in case you need to prove status.

The 1800 # is the same you call, I spoke to someone who said it has to be over 30 days before they can do anything but why don't I talk to someone in customer service to see if they could help? Sure, ok. Next lady said nothing they could do but gave information about what was sent and when.

Thanks for that flutter -- even though we got the biometrics letter, the NOA1 has not arrived (and probably never will) so we may be looking to get the stamp if we're not approved before his GC expires in mid-August.

oh that sucks! well at least you have some time. The person I spoke to on the 1800 said once its been 30 days from receipt date they can send another so you could do that and she could also tell me if it had been returned.

Oh a good note, I did get my biometrics appointment today! Bad news is its a really inconvienient time!

Yeah I know it is ####### - we have had problems with the mail system around here recently, I am starting to think one guy is manning the san diego main sorting office tongue.gif

but the biometrics should be here soon. hopefully.

My name is not on the mail box, we live in an apartment complex and our number is clearly stated - we have no had issues with stuff being delivered before just taking forever.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy experience of getting the stamp due to no NOA
So recently I told people on here that I applied to remove the conditions on my greencard in May and the check was cashed soon after but no NOA. Well my greencard expires 6/20 (today infact!) and it concerned me I had nothing to prove my legal status. So I did call the misinformation line who told me they had mailed it out on May 22nd and that it had not been returned to them so it was somewhere in the mail and that it could not be resent untill the 24th of June. She also informed me my biometrics letter was sent out the 16th June which I have not got just yet either.

Anyway, I made an infopass to get a stamp at my cloesest office in San Diego, CA. I wanted to go before I expired but no days off (but I had been out of town for a week earlier in this week hoping NOA would come in this time) so I went there early o'clock to get back in time for work. So I got there and it was dead one guy in there other than me. The lady who helped me asked me to explain the situation, asked for my passport and my greencard and told me to take a seat. She called me back up and checked my address with me of the one they had in the system, which was correct and she showed me my passport which she stamped for a year and included the receipt numbers - she said there are two for my case which but so far I have not been able to get either to work! Then she cut my old green card, told me I can work and travel on my stamp and if I submitted alot of evidence then I may not get interviewed, if we didn't then we would and I said I knew and estimated how much I sent in and she smiled and I told her I didn't get interviewed at AOS and she looked shocked and said "really?! How did THAT happen?" then shrugged - why do IO's not seem to understand that this happens?

Anyway I was done in 15mins and now I do not have to worry so much biggrin.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDoes NOA w ASC let you back into the country?
Did his green card expire before he left the country? The biometrics letter does not prove status - I never recieved my NOA1 and had to go to a local USCIS office to get a stamp for a 1 year of temp status to prove I am a legal resident which allows me to travel and work. I hope someone here has some good advice for you.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGoing to Mexico
I live about 14 miles from the mexican border so I have a little experience with them: from what I know when I had my greencard I had no problems, since submitting the removal of conditions I have not traveled out of the US but know others around here who have and did not have a problem. If you are concerned, do as others suggested: do an infopass and get the stamp in your passport.

I went for infopass to get the year extension recently as my NOA for my I-751 never arrived and my green card expired. It was not like an interview, they were pleasent - just wanted to know what my reason for being here is, which I explained, she looked it up, called me back up to her window, stamped and explained. Hopefully yours goes well!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGetting a Gov't Support like Medicaid could that effect my future application for removal conditional residency?
I found the link:

• Aliens who are LPRs (who already have a "green card") –
o LPRs cannot lose their status (have their "green card" revoked) if they, their children, or other family members use:
?? HEALTH CARE, FOOD PROGRAMS, or other NON-CASH PROGRAMS
?? CASH WELFARE (* see note below for exception)
?? LONG-TERM CARE (* see note below for exception)

There was a link I read on USCIS website in the past which stated what did and did not count as benefits that are not allowed to PR's but it said something about benefits that are for cash or cash like benefits are not allowed but ones that assist such as WIC are allowed - it had a list of them, I will see if I can find it.

As you were told the other day in your post about this, relax, its ok! if there had been a problem they would have known right away and they would not have let you go if it was not ok. The lady doing my prints had to redo them several times while I was there as the computer would not take it and when it was ok she moved on to the next print. Relax, I think your just fine.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs it possible to get I-551 stamp w/out I-751 receipt?
I have no idea whether they actually will or will not stamp the passport, just my opinion is that due to nothing being filed yet they may not do anything.

I had my passport stamped for a year last week as my NOA1 had not arrived yet (had been almost 30 days) and my green card was about to expire so they gave me the stamp but before giving the stamp they took my passport and green card and searched for my case and made sure I had one before they just went ahead and stamped me.

Hello everyboyd, buddy, I don't know how it passed that BIG DETAIL FOR YOU. Anyway, I can try to give you what I think and I have heard (I'm not a lawyer, SO PLEASE CONTACT A LAWYER OR A PERSON WHO IS PARALEGAL WITH EXPERIENCE ON THESE IMMIGRATION ISSUES ANYWAY). What I know is that you HAVE to show to immigration that it was a big big reason or inconvenient that you don't submit those papers or I -751 on time. You have to show them that let's say for example: you or your wife suffered an accident or any kind of big problem that you have the physical excuse to probe it, but of course, it has to be something very strong and convincing. I think that automatically USCIS is going to send you a kind of letter of filling out of time and maybe your petition I751 is going to be DENIED. You have one resource I think is an appeal NOTICE OF APPEAL OR MOTION I-290B FORM, that you have to file, so USCIS reopens your case, of course, like everything in USCIS, they are going to charge you an expensive fee of $585, you know how is all the things in USCIS. I have heard that after that you can try to reopen your case and try to solve the case, but of course, DO NOT DO ANY MISTAKE AGAIN OR YOUR CASE OR PETITION IS OVER. I repeat you, consult with an attorney, I'm not pretty sure, but please HURRY UP! OR EVERYTHING IS LOST. Immigration likes to assume that if you didn't filled out the I-751, they assume your case is weak or false, or maybe you or the person interested on GREEN CARD prefers to not to come to live here in the U.S. I think that maybe you and your wife are going to be appointed again to an interview in USCIS service center that you live closed from. I wish you my best wishes, PLEASE DO NOT SLEEP WITH YOUR CASE, I TELL YOU LIKE THE SAYING IN SPANISH, THE SHRIMP THAT GOES TO SLEEP, THE RIVER CURRENT DRAGS HIM AWAY!, THANKS

The OP is not late, the OP in fact applied way too early and does not need to file until September.

I hope you hear something better soon! Online is not always so good. I got the same white sheet approval notice in the mail last wednesday - the same day I got card production email and before then had no idea! That letter was dated a week and a half before I got it too so if it had come sooner i would have been the same as you. Then today I got an email saying approval notice sent.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTempary green card lost
QUOTE (wexford65 @ Jul 27 2009, 11:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have no experience of Infopass (others can advise) but an appointment might possibly be worth pursuing. Explain to them what has happened and see what they tell you to do.

Any time you break the rules you are in a no-man's land with doubt as how to proceed. It just isn't worth it.

As I said in another post that was for some incredible reason censored I am constantly surprised at the number of people that decide not to update their address, or replace a lost card or file late because they were busy...and so on. This is SO important that I just don't understand it. It is playing Russian roulette with your future here in the US.

Anyway, I hope it all works out for the best for you. Wait to see if others agree that an Infopass appointment might be worth pursuing.

Good luck...

I agree with wexford about an infopass, they may be able to help you. For me personally, I never recieved my NOA for ROC and my greencard was about to expire and infopass appointment helped me to obtain a stamp in my passport - that is not uncommon but the point is when I went to my biometrics the lady wanted my green card which I no longer had just the new temp stamp and she insisted on having the old card until I pointed out that the old one is expired and cut up - this pass is proof that I already had a green card before and shows my status now which she accepted. So I was able to get by without the original card by having a stamp. Perhaps infopass can help.

Yay, congrats Missus Flutter!!!! kicking.gif

I was sooooo going to post yesterday evening that your approval was coming any minute now (on the scientific fact that I could "feel it in my waters" tongue.gif )... my waters were right, I tell you! kicking.gif

I got an "approval notice sent" email today (along with corresponding case status change) - if I remember right from AOS, "approval notice" is USCIS-ese for "that bit of paper that your green card is attached to". Hurrah! Apparently it was mailed yesterday.

Also got a letter in the mail a couple of days ago congratulating me on the approval of my I-751. It wasn't the usual USCIS-y NOA type thing on the special paper, it was just a typed letter much like the one they sent reminding me that I need to remove my conditions. Only, unlike that letter, this one actually had our correct address on it.

I'm now waiting with bated breath to see if my name will be spelled right on my new GC, or if I'll need to file yet another I-90 due to a typo in my middle name, just like I did with the conditional one... unsure.gif

Enough rambling - hurry up, VSC, and... Maven, come and update us on Mr. Maven's condition-lifting progress! biggrin.gif

lol I know! I was thinking to myself well feathers took this amount of time from her bio so i should get mine on wednesday and i did! But I got approved the 13th just didnt know until today, lol
