It's interesting to hear about the congressional pull because my now mother in law went to her congressmans office and asked for them to enquire about my case and if you look at my time line, it went really fast after my NOA2

Is that why?

Welcome to VJ!

It's interesting to have an insider (well, ex-insider) on board, however kinda scary too! Perhaps we will learn things we don't wanna know

Interesting story! I never visted while waiting on my K1 for many reasons, but I was partly scared! I had some completely awful situations with immigration at airports before I started anything to do with the K1 so I didnt want to risk it. I understand how you must have felt!

Thanks BrianandMerne, congratulations for both of you too! This is the hardest part of all, WAITING. But I am sure it will all be worth it. I just need more patience and other things to do to occupy my time waiting.

Anyway, if anyone is reading this who got a RFE because they did not send copies of ALL pages in their passport and with no BC, please do give me a reply. It would give me a little peace of mind. (is this the right thread or forum to ask?)

A great day everyone!

Hope everything works out fine, at least you are prepared for an RFE. Also, get used to waiting in this immigration game, I am at the removing of conditions stage and once again waiting! Good luck with everything.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 visa- Lot's of problems and ?? please help
Very important to read the guides, I agree with that. My post meant to say AP was important to travel to be let back in, I suppose the way I said that could be confused with being allowed to travel, ofcourse one is allowed to travel but part of traveling is being allowed to return to the US.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 visa- Lot's of problems and ?? please help
I cannot help you with all your questions but for starters you really need to read the guides at the top of the page. The K1 visa process can take awhile and your fiance may be living in AU for quite awhile during the process.

A couple of things:your job issue will only be income requirements, you will have to meet a certain income level or you will have to have a co-sponser in the US for your fiance (the guides has more info on this)

Second of all, he arrives in the us with a K1 visa you will need to get married with in 90 days and then file for AOS afterwards at which time you can also apply for an EAD (employment authorization) and AP (advanced parole so he can leavet he country) these extra forms are optional but can help as your fiance cannot work or travel out of the country until he has his green card without these forms. The EAD takes roughly 90 days or so to be approved but varies, and he will have to wait for this until he can work.

Something else to keep in mind with this proces and jobs is the fact this that this is not a cheap process, the filing for the K1 is the beginning, then there is a fee for a medical exam for your fiance, interview costs, a plane ticket when moving, wedding costs, then AOS, EAD, and AP shortly after, so you may want to be in a good financial position.

The criminal activity is hard for me to know about, all applicants have to have a letter from each police dept serving areas the applicant has lived in since 16 detailed criminal background, but the details on what is ok and what is not is unclear to me, check the guides and perhaps someone else will have advice for that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIM about to send my K1 pettition in the mail
Just stating he came here recently should be fine, the form asks whether or not you have met in the past two years. That being said adding a letter explaining how you met and subsequent visits would be advisable to have all information in order. We just stated when last met and when we orgionally met and how, that is all. Good luck!
flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2009-07-15 00:20:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about RFE's.
It depends on the RFE - the RFE usually states what it is looking for (like more financial support for some cases, relationship evidence, etc) but sometimes the RFE is vague in which cause you just re-send everything back in again and as you have seen what an issue already is you can be prepared with a perfect application to resend if it is sent back however depending on who deals with your case it may not be an issue. Do not worry and ifyou get an RFE just be prepared!

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F - Met online - Questions at the interview
As others have said, many many people have met online. My husband and I met online and the embassy in England said nothing about it as I think many people have met this way. I personally was asked for no proof of relationship but it is a good idea to have documents like plane tickets and passport stamps to show visitation for an on going relationship, photos tohether, calling card logs ( I had those) and perhaps snail mail but that is not all always needed. You may be asked how you met but just tell the truth and go with it, its your story and its true, they will not have issues with that.

Definitely agree with the other posters - you have waited a sufficient time and are not getting any clear answers. Contacting your local congress person for information will help: their office will contact USCIS, find out the status and generally gets your case moving. Good luck! good.gif

You still have to fill it out, if you don't they generally won't give your fiance a visa untill you do give it to them. Check with the country's consulate to find out which form for sure.

The I-865 is for AOS later on in the process once your married.

Ok heres what I was told at my medical.

I HAD to have the hep b, I could get it done on NHS, you don't have to hav ethe entire thing done before you leave for the US, just have it started (I haven't had the final does jsut yet).

Which was odd wasn't it, Flutter? The chart they send me with packet three clearly stated that Hep B was for people/children 19 and under...

I know but the nurse insisted I needed it.

Whatever, I had it and now I've just gotta finish it, at least I'll fit in then :P

Well I've definitely had my MMR jab as a kid and a Tetanus shot within the past 6yrs so if it says that on my records then I'm FREE FROM NASTY INJECTIONS! ;)

I'd had my MMR also, but apparently I hadn't had ALL of the second one so had to have it again ;)

but you will need the vaccine print out anyway for the nurse to see at the medical.

Marina + Dave, I'm sure that'll be fine then, maybe I was close to the age so she just thought she'd might aswell make me have it? Or perhaps like mags said once, I was looking youthful that day and they didn't look at the date of birth!

For the vaccines you could make an appointment with the nurse and she'll help you, and also get a record of your vaccines.

Welcome to the site! I'm glad you like it, I love it. Its a great place to learn and relate, its a great place.

As for the medical, they are wrong. You CAN have it before as MOST of us do, because we do it while we are waiting. I hope you have or do call them back and talk to someone else and tell them your having your medical and NO you DON'T have your appointment yet

Infact, I think the only things they needed to know if your case number and your credit card number!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwaiting for return of passport
Sometimes delivery of visas from the UK embassy is quick, sometimes not.

Mine was pretty speedy (after an RFE at the embassy) but there have been others who have waited just over a couple of weeks for their visa. As tracyTN pointed out, there has been some bank holidays and that surely does slow things down just a little.

If you get past another week or so then I would call to find out.

Good luck.

Good luck on everything and I hope your NOA2 comes soon.

Also, check out (on the embassys website, and you'll also recieve this later on the line from the embassy) which vaccines he'll need, and get him to go to his local GP and ask for his vaccine history and make appointments to get the ones hes missing to save a fee having to do it later at the medical.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionco-sponsor--yearly income

This co-sponsorship is for the I-134, not the 864 form. She's taking the I-134 forms to her initial interview. Thanks.

But when it comes to AOS and if your still using him as a joint sponser you will need those then.

Wow, I am truly sorry to hear all of this.

I think its ridiculous how they make YOU carry your forms back and forth! I now fully realise how lucky I was to be going through the London embassy, where they courier everything around.

As for my medical, naked - yes, but with a gown and there was no "flashlight" inspection, just a quick look to make sure the correct parts were there!

I really hope that when she returns her paperwork that she can get an interveiw ASAP, perhaps while shes there asking for an extension on your petition?

Good luck with everything (F)

I remember those forms from the embassy being so...weird.

I love the male form thingy with the tribe thingy

Yes, I've been in many tribes in the UK.

Plus, is it then ok for the WOMAN to be in a tribe?!

Because it says, "clan or tribe", I told my husband to write in, "I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod", and be sure to take his sword to the interview with him. I'm sure they'd appreciate it. ;)

Its just too funny. I love all the questions, they make me giggle.

Recently we were watching a movie or something were someone said how on the little VW form you get asked if you were part of nazi germany and my husband laughed thinking that was a joke and I said no, we seriously get asked that.

Perhaps, I shall be in a tribe/clan and was also part of the nazi government

And btw, that all was just funny joke, I understand these questions must be asked, and in no way am I showing any disrespect to anyone but its also has me laughing.

Proof of ongoing relationship is always a good idea to take with you, I didn't though but I wasn't asked for any.

Actually it seems much more acceptable for a family member to co-sponser. Many people have co-sponser's. We did, my now husband is a full time student. Aslong as all the supporting docs is there, it'll be just fine.

Once the fiance is in the US and you marry, you have to adjust status, at which point you have to fill out an I-864 (another affadavit) which is then legally binding and they will enforce it.

They'll deliver it where ever you want them to. They give you a slip of paper where you fill in your details whilst in the Embassy and, as a rule, the visa takes roughly a week (some come earlier, some later).

Give them your home address and go wait for it there. I DON'T suggest you give them your hotel's address...

I agree with this, it may come soon, it may not and I would not give them the hotel address. Give them your home address, go home and it'll arrive :D
