K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo surreal...
I hope today goes well.

What everyone has said about the realising you DON'T have to go back to the airport to say goodbye...its a whole flood of emotions!

Even though we haven't been married long, its still good to remember about the time that we were apart!

Hope to hear back from you soon! (F)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo surreal...
We still had fights once I got here, but they were different, and your right, the hug makes it a difference, but the fights will ebb. My husband unfortunately isn't the greatest about understanding that I miss England and that I'm adjusting, so for us that can cause some friction, but on a whole, not much.

When your at the airport waiting for him you won't believe its real...and you'll see him and you'll be like this :o (L)

Don't worry about the x-ray if the bag really is that jammed, mine was too and I just chucked it in my packed bags!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo surreal...
With the x-ray,he can carry it on hand luggage if he wants, I didnt...the results are in the medical, not many CBPs are going to be able to read it and understand it, thats why I didn't carry it in my hand luggage, its whatever feels better for him really. *shrug*

I used to keep a shirt with the smell on it too and felt the exact same as you, I forgot how it felt and what it all meant but I DID know that I loved him and we fought alot at times when we were apart but when you see eachother, it'll be great!
At least your understanding about his country, don't ever forget that! :D

I - as many others here do understand how you feel!

We were never apart THAT long but still long enough to forget things...and it all felt surreal for me when we met up again. It will be great and you'll be smiling so much tomorrow!

At least you are now prepared for the AOS part!
congrats!

Oh and by the way, he just needs the envelope, passport ofcourse...thats what I had :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof
Its ok if you don't have family in them - it can help but not really needed. I didn't send any with family in.

sounds like you've got a good packet of proof, really the main things to show you met is pcitures with names, dates and places on the back with travel documents showing whomever in the picture was traveling at the time of picture and passport stamps to prove entry in to the country.

Thats what I sent.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe need of a lawyer in the finance process
You don't need a lawyer to show credibility, just shows you paid a guy.

Solid evidence of relationship is all that is needed for that.

But as for a lawyer goes, aslong as theres nothing complicated about you guys, and you read and learn (this website has alot of informatin on it), then you can save yourself the money and save it for when your fiance is here and you do AOS :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian engaged to American... help!

Refer to the guides for sure .. they are very helpful

CB

I'd recommend not getting too carried away on the details of your wedding or honeymoon until you review the visa types available. For instance, if you go with a K-1, you aren't going to be able to honeymoon outside the US or its territories. This is one of the things we had to give up that we'd wanted to do.

The only way honeymooning outside the US would work is waiting awhile. Getting married soon after entry and filing for AOS including Advance Parole will allow you to leave the us and re-enter, however you cannot file for that untill you file for AOS and you cannot file for AOS until you are married. It seems to take about 90 days or so to be granted.

To the OP, like the others said, read the guides to learn more about the process and see what best suits your needs.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImportant question regarding our wedding date before visa approval
When I started out on my K-1 journey I was VERY naive about it and we set a date for the wedding in December last year and we filed at the end of July/beginning of August through Vermont.

I made it just about by the skin of my teeth, it was a VERY nerve wracking time. Once I learned how dumb that had been all plans and money had been put in to it.

I told the embassy I had a date and that I wouldvery much like to make it and they worked with me, said they understood that people had put time and money in to it. Even when I got the blue slip at the Embassy for more fiancial evidence, he guy still worked with me cause I panicked saying I had 3 weeks untill my wedding and he said aslong as I sent my stuff back to him by the end of the week I would be there.

I got here about a week and a half before my big wedding.

All I can tell you to do is tell the embassy, and I thought I would just share my story.

First off, Congrats! Theres many from the UK here, this website is a great source of information. As the others said, no credit history doesn't matter.

Make sure you read the FAQ's and the guides on this website, it really helps to learn what to expect. Also, read about the UK embassy and the UK forum has alot of information for you also.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNot Enough Room For Info...is it OK?

FlyRK,

Yes. Or abbreviate and condense as ruthlessly as necessary to make it fit - the address does not need to be postal quality.

Yodrak

Hello all...when typing in the info on the previous address' block on the G-325A, there is not enough room. Is it OK to write the last part of the address in an empty block directly below it? Thanks so much.

That's what I did. If that had been on a piece of mail it would of never have gotten there however it worked for the purpose of the form

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLots of questions

Photos are fine, but you need evidence that you have met in the past two years. Generally the evidence would include plane tickets, copies of passport stamps showing dates of entry/departure, hotel receipts, money exchange receipts, theatre tickets or other events. If you met your fiance(ee) in America, keeping evidence can be difficult.

In your narrative about your relationship and meeting you will need to describe the time sequence so that it is verifiable by the evidence you provide. I like to tell people to describe how the two of you met as you would tell your mother. You don't have to get all lovey-dovey in the description, but don't be mechanical either. Simply state you both fell in love and want to marry and plan your futures together.

Remember to review the IMBRA items, if the two of you first had contact on the internet. Make sure you keep a complete copy of everything you will be submitting to the USCIS.

Welcome to the journey.

If you just meet on the internet in say a chat room, thats ok though (my husband and I met that way)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen to file through Vermont?
Also, keep in mind peope like myself. Uk citizen, filed through vermont but it took 5 months from start to finish.

As said above, the visa (once issued) is valid for 6 months and you have 90 days once you enter the US to marry.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAccidently sent just forms, NO EVIDENCE SENT!
Please listen to the do not send anything in advice, it would be a waste of time and wouldn't help anything, just time, paper and money lost.

Wait for the RFE if infact you do get one, and like the others said, right now you just need proof of seeing eachother, so you don't have to go too crazy.

Wait it out, it won't be so bad.

flutter95FemaleUnited Kingdom2007-03-24 16:27:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport pages
I know thats what it says and all but remember I stated that I was just saying my opinion and what worked for me, not giving false info and telling people what they should do, cause they should send the whole thing for citizenship proof. thats just what we sent and they were happy.

However, we all know what makes one adjudicator happy makes another frown

For the proof of travel though, just the travel pages are fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport pages

Hello,

Do I need to copy every page of my passport to indicate that I travelled to see my fiance recently or should I just include the pages that were stamped by customs and is 12 photographs to many, they were taken in different situation.

Thanks.

As far as the passport, maybe. If you are using the passport as identification/proof of citizenship then yes every page needs to be copied (even blank pages). But if you are not using your passport for that purpose, I am pretty sure I have seen that others have just copied the stamped pages plus your bio page. (Someone please correct me if you have had a different experience).
I used my passport for evidence of citizenship since the certified copy of my Birth Certificate is of really poor quality so I copied every page and just highlighted and marked the pages that have stamps on them indicating our meeting.
12 photographs seem quite reasonable. I sent in 9 and USCIS seemed to think that was fine. It's good that they are in different situations. A person from the Embassy told me that the best ones show the couple together with other people/relatives or in front of well known landmarks. The candid ones in a crowd show that the couple 'acts' like a couple by going out or to family functions.
Good Luck!
Sue

My husband used his passport for citizenship proof and we just sent the biometrics page for that and then the entry stamps for visitation proof.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport pages
I will tell you what I did, which is only my opinion and what worked for me:

I copied the pages in my current and old expired passport that showed all the entry stamps. I didn't include the empty pages and I sent in about 6 photos total with our names, date it was take and WHERE on the back of the photo. I also sent travel itineries to cross reference with the passport pages and the photos.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMoving After the Wedding

Your probably better off filing for AOS right after you finish moving so you can use your new address.

I second that, it'll be much easier as USCIS isn't always so great with address changes.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP: Forgot signature, How to proceed?
Don't panic! It's not too much of a big deal, I did something similar (forgot someone's SSN on a form).

They may or may not issue you an RFE , and you'd be best just waiting it out.

I have read from others that when sending stuff in extra it nearly never makes it to your file and is just a waste of time - wait for the RFE - if indeed you get one and mail it back it.

It will delay you a little yes, but if you have new froms ready to go and you mail them back ASAP, it won't be so bad.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTwo questions about the G-325A

thank you :)

I have been very sure to leave no gaps in time (have been studying VJ most assiduously - it's already a godsend, and we've barely started!), but it's more that I don't want it to look like I was changing jobs constantly - ie going from working through the agency to being employed through the school directly, which happened twice - when in fact I did the same job the whole time...

thanks for suggestions though :)

I was changing jobs alot due to my visits over here with my now husband, its ok :)

edited due to double post.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWho submits the additional evidence at the interview?
The fiancee will be the one who will be notified for interview, not you the USC. They will be given a checklist of required documents and you will find on this site lists of other evidence documents for your fiance to take to the intereview.

Once you guys get married and file for AOS (the green card) you may be interveiwed then, but you will be interviewed together.

 All they are doing is having us mail directly to Cali if we would have filed at NCS or TSC. Right now we mail to NCS or TCS and they forward it to CSC. Nothing changes process-wise.

Some of the old TSC and NCS are going to be able to send to VSC directly too now if I remember what I read correctly *scratches head*

I certainly think so, it wasn't taking long but then all of a sudden I got my NOA2 and then it just move like crazy.

Then ofcourse, I had issues with the embassy and had to send in a missing document. Lots of times when this has happend I have seen people waiting ages for their visas, well once again my mother in law got the congressmans office to find out what was going on and my visa came back to me in a week!

Thanks for your all helpful info :-)

It's interesting to hear about the congressional pull because my now mother in law went to her congressmans office and asked for them to enquire about my case and if you look at my time line, it went really fast after my NOA2

Is that why?
