No thats not a problem, they really only look at that if your income does not meet the requirments.

First congrats on the journey!! :) They are referring to either a receipt for a ring, or a letter from both you and your fiance stating your intent to marry when she arrives. Its similar to the same letter you sent with the I129-F petition, but will be dated much closer to the interview.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionProof of relationship in original I-129F

So our interview is set for September 12th, my question is the following:

When I sent the original 129-F I copied all our skype logs and a bunch of e-mails, plus photos and receipts, do we get those back before the interview or do I need new ones (No I did NOT make a copy of the whole packet before sending it, I hadn't found this site yet)

As always any help is appreciated.

No you will not get anything back, everything you sent with the I-129F will be sent to the embassy. if possible try to recreate the evidence you submitted and take with you to the interview along with additional evidence since you filed the petition.

Does anyone know if its possible to request a certain date for your interview (or state I would like to have my interview on or after such and such date) when returning packet 3? I will be joining my fiance for the interview and for a few reasons we don't want the interview to be until at least the 3rd week in september. The embassy just received the case on 8/5 and he hasn't received packet 3 from them yet, but I'm wondering if we request this will it raise any flags or possible questions. I have thought about holding off about a week or 2 before sending packet 3 back, but I'm not sure how far in advance after they receive it they schedule appointments. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionextending NOA2 approval
Hello all,

My fiance and I received our NOA2 approval in July, and the embassy received our case in August. At the time my fiance was in Cairo renewing his visa for work in KSA as a back up in case his visa was not approved. To make a long story short, we couldn't send the documents back to the embassy because he had to travel for work on short notice, and we didn't have everything required before he left. He is now in KSA, but will be returning to Cairo between the end of November and January 1st. I have emailed the embassy and explained the situation and all they said was get the documents in as soon as possible. Our NOA2 approval states its only valid until 11/4, however I have read on here that this is not always the case. If you are going to go past this date, the embassy will extent the approval as long as they know you're still interested in the visa...does anyone know if this is the case, or do I need to complete any documents to ask for an extenstion?

Thanks in advance

I guess my case will stay at NVC, It arrived there on 3/2 and I just called (3/15) and the operator said its still there and she don't know if they will be forwarding due to the problems in Egypt. She told me to keep checking the travel.state.gov website..I will call tomorrow to see what they tell me then :(

I'm sorry Kim, I know this is so frustrating :( I also heard that NVC was holding all files until the embassy reopens. A positive side to this is that if you want to try and transfer your case, NVC will probably be a lot quicker than waiting for Cairo to do it. If the file is sent to Cairo, and its taking a long time and you decide you want to transfer, it may take a while considering they are short staffed. The embassy is not completely shut down, but idk if they want all of these cases sitting around. It seems it would make more sense to hold onto them until the government decides what they are going to do with the embassy and when they anticipate it reopening.

Hi, I would like to ask what everyone thinks we should do. We have a co sponsor and he is wanting to send his I-134 and documents directly to the US Embassy in Cairo. Since they're Closed, When do you think he should mail the documents to the Embassy?
Ofcourse we will write the Case Number on the papers but this is alittle scary to us because we're afraid they will misplace them before Hany's Interview.
Thanks to all in advance :)

The embassy itself is not closed, I sent docs to them a week after the revolution started and they got them. My concern would be like you said, they would get lost if they don't have his file yet. I would tell your co-sponsor to wait until you at least know the embassy has received the file.

Mandy,

I did see that since your fiance had his interview already the embassy will continue working on his case, this is AWESOME news for you two!

I am just so sad now because I don't know what to think or believe anymore. I am the kind that needs to know everything in order to gain a solid ground on which to stand firmly. I

know we are all in the same boat and my heart goes out to all of us. I am getting to the point where I can't stand to read here on VJ all the people complaining it has been 1, 2 or 3 months and still no NOA2!
Excuse me??? Surely they are kidding right? I am counting the weeks until I will yet again board a plane and make that cross Atlantic trip to

spend 2 months with Ahmed. I pray before that we will all know something more! Living on 2 month intervals is better than nothing at all for sure, but OMG the "see you soons" at the airport when I am leaving kills me a little more each time. Sorry to whine and complain but really I am blown away by this latest development. :wow:

I know exactly how you feel, I don't come on here much because its too depressing, I'm ready to pull my hair out!!! Although they are still working on our case, I know they are short staffed and things are being delayed because of that.

I am the same as you, if someone could give me a date and say this is when he will get the visa or there is a time limit in AP, blah blah I could deal a lot better. And it doesn't help when everyone around you is asking the same questions.."when is he coming?" I would like to know the answer to that myself. I have thought about taking another trip back there if he doesn't get it within the next month before the baby comes and while I'm still able to fly.

I know the situation in Egypt may not be completely stable, but they should still be able to function, or at least work on the immigrant visa's so they don't get so backed up. Saying prayers for everyone that is being effected by this!!

In my opinion the NVC doesn't know squat. My fiance had his interview on 1/12, he was approved, placed in AP and they kept his passport. According to the embassy website, reply emails, and actually talking with a CO in Cairo, they are telling me that since my fiance had his interview prior to them closing they are still working on it and will complete it and issue his visa, however NVC is telling me its on hold. When I tell them all of this information, their reply was...well, we're not on the grounds of Cairo, we don't know whats going on...really I figured that much out myself!! I don't bother calling them anymore, I call the embassy directly, I feel I get a better answer from them.

Fiancee called, packet 3 in hand...What's next? Need to meet him via internet to show him what to do...the waiting finally came I am happy that US embassy in Cairo is finally for interviews.

Read the instructions and have him return the requested documents. When they resume interviewing again they will contact him.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwaiting 5 months for visa!!!

OK so they do AP for fiances as well, I didn't know that. Yes I was advised to do the same, hounding them, but that doesn't take away from the frustration, it actually adds on to it. I get that the safety of the country is more important, I just wish there was a quicker and easier way :(

believe me, I feel your pain :(( I may sound selfish by saying this, but I wish none of this happened until after he was already here. I must check the embassy website at least 5 times a day and our status never change, then I call and email the embassy weekly and I still get the same BS answer, and I call DOS weekly and well, they're no help either!! I'm planning on going to see him in a couple of weeks so preparing for that has kept my mind off of this a bit.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwaiting 5 months for visa!!!

So what am I supposed to do now? There has to be something that I can do, how can they just make people wait by the months apart from each other like this???? this is really weird isn't there something we can do?

my fiance is in AP as well and is waiting. I finally hired an attorney. He said the key is to keep hounding them until they get tired of hearing from you. Some people tell me he can't really help, but I don't have the time, energy or the same contacts as him to do it on my own. I'd rather try to be resourceful than sit around and do nothing and wait. I also contacted my senator and they did an inquiry and were told he was in AP, they then told me to contact them again if it goes over 6 months. I guess if you're not paying them they don't work so hard for you

Besides contacting everyone one you can think of over and over, there really isn't much else you can do. The safety of this country and its citizens is far more important to them than you being apart from your loved one for months.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwaiting 5 months for visa!!!

We've been waiting for my husband's visa since Novemeber (4-6 weeks after the interview date which was 0ct.20, 2010). So now its almost the end of March and we've been waiting for 5 months with no response and no time frame to work around. I dont know if I should go be with him in Egypt or stay here in the states until he gets his visa. We've been away from each other for 3 months and we really want to be together :( I don't even mind the waiting anymore I just want to know how long I have to wait so that I am able to manage my life accordingly. I contacted the congressman, a lawyer, the NVC, the embassy in Cairo but nobody can give ma a direct answer. I'm in the process of sending out a letter to the white house. Any advice?

Im in the same boat as you, but thankfully have not been waiting as long. Was your husband in AP? Did the embassy tell you if his case is pending in Washington? I keep being told that my fiance's case is pending background checks in washington and when they get the approval his visa will be issued, but no one will give me a time frame either.

According the website of the US Embassy in Cairo, all visa services are still suspended and will be until further notice.

If you read further on the embassy website under that link it states that if an applicant has been interviewed prior to Jan 27, 2011 their visa will be processed as normal. These cases are the only visa's they are working on at the time.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical result

This is kind of a crazy question but i am going to ask anyway....we are in a process of gathering all the paperwork for packet 3. My question is does he need to turn in the medical result unopened with the application he needs for his visa? Or he has to hand carry this for his interview. Very confused with this one. On packet 3 did not say he has to take it with him or send in with the rest of his application.... :help:

He needs to bring it with him to the embassy, thats what we did.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMy Interview - Cairo [edited title]

hi
sorry if u may explain more plz.? i did not understand what u said

ask if my AP is WA/DC or its in the embassy level ? what is that ? sorry

WA/DC means Washington DC, the DOS headquaters. If your case is pending AP there it is for background/security checks, if your in AP at the embassy more than likely they are investigating into the relationship more.

USCIS Service Centerschanging information on I-129F
Hi all,

I posted a question about this on another forum...I recently submitted my I-129F and initially stated my fiance wanted to do his interview in Saudi Arabia (where he is working). However, now we have decided we want it to be in Cairo (where my fiance is from) so I can attend the interview, and also because by the time the interview rolls around he will be living back in Cairo anyway. I called USCIS and they were helpless and someone on here said to call the NVC, so I did and was told to contact USCIS. So does anyone know how I can change the embassy location, and do I need to provide them with my fiances new address in Cairo now or can we do that once it reaches NVC?

Thanks for the help

I received my NOA1 on 5/11/10, however I am seeing people who have filed after me receive their NOA2 by now. I haven't received a RFE so why are others getting a NOA2 before me if I filed before them?

Congrats to those who did, but its a little frustrating because I feel like I've been forgotten about

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)what's the next step?

So it's been four months after the interview in cairo and we still have not received his visa, we've e-mailed, wrote letters made phone calls, went to the congressman's office and still nothing. . . is this normal? what do i do? HELP!!!!

What type of response are you getting back from them? Did they tell you he was in AP? My fiance had his interview 6 weeks ago and was put into AP, everytime I email them they respond by the next day, and they responded to my senator immediately when she made an inquiry for me.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)How long were you in AP?
thanks, and I hope your AP will be done soon as well. I called the embassy this morning and spoke with a Consular Officer, he said it was still undergoing AP in Washington, but they received everything else they needed and once they get a response from Washington they will issue his visa.
