I emailed the embassy today and they replied that they approved our co-sponsor. That is good news for me and my husband.

It took the embassy 3 months to review our new affidavit of support and instead of issuing the visa they put us in AP. It's very easy to lose patience when you are put into AP. You've already waited many months just to get to the interview. Now you must wait weeks, months, or longer in AP.

I think the length of time you spend in AP depends on the CO and what kinds of background checks they want done. That's why some people only spend a few weeks in AP and others spend months but I could be wrong.

This is great news for you!! Think of it as one obstacle out of your way. Hopefully his visa won't be far behind.

has anyone heard any good news?? I am growing very frustrated. Its been just over 2 months, not to mention we spent a mth in AP at NVC before our case was sent to the embassy. I know 2 months is not as long as some people wait, but I'm losing my patience, this is driving me crazy. They kept my fiance's passport and told him 4 weeks, yet still nothing. What causes someone to be in AP for a very very long time?

God News Good News !!!!!!
My hubby received a text message from consulate that his visa is processed and will be couriered to him today.
Later an email from VFS also confirmed that his passport is handed to Blue Dart courier services for delivery....
3 weeks in AP !!!!

Thanks Lord Jesus and Mother Mary....

All out there in AP.... my sincere prayers and wishes to you all.... I know how it feels to be in AP.... but Prayer is power and its been proved in my life again and again...

Probably. Did they ask for your resume or academic details? did they retain your passport.
My husband's passport was retained and they asked for his resume, research papers etc...
Well, his AP is finally over today. 3 weeks in AP..

Hang in there... everything will get sorted.

thats great, congrats!!!

I researched the different Visa searches also, there are several named after different animals, see link:

http://en.wikipedia....dvisory_Opinion

This link also says that the SAO was developed for nonimmigrant visas, but I have to agree that they would be just as cautious, if not more of immigrants.

My finace is also an engineer, but for telecommunitations, so I don't think he falls under the MANTIS list, at least I hope not, and they didn't ask him for his resume or anything like that either.

Praying those of us in the hell hole hear some good news soon!!

Do you know if once in AP, can the applicant request the passport back while they in AP - so that if needed they can travel elsewhere ? Or are they just stuck in the country while AP is being processed ?

Yes you can request it back, but I know its not recommended. If you request it back you have to depend on them to contact you to send in your passport when the visa is ready to be issued.

My Mother's Interview went well and the Interviewer said the Interview was successful. However, the Visa will be given after the "Additional Processing". He took the Passport, had her sign the DS-230 Part II and did not ask for any extra papers. Embassy will call her once the "Additional Processing" is done.

Now I heard about "Administrative Processing" "Administrative Review" but what is this "Additional Processing"? Only thing I can think of is that the fingerprint of my mother's left hand has issues, so they may have not had complete fingerprints for the check.

Could some please put some light on my poor understanding about the “Additional Processing”? If they don’t know when that would be done, then why did they keep the passport?

From what I know, administrative processing and additional processing are the same thing, its just the choice of words that are used that is different.

Hi Guys,

It is going to be 1 year for me in AP come April. My wife is a USC I am a UKC and we have been living here for the last 5 years. We had our interview in London last April and since then it has a been a very frustrating time with no news.

My wife is expecting in June and we would of liked to be settled in the US by then.

I call the DoS every week and email the Embassy every month but still no words. We have even hired a lawyer in DC who has contacts in the DoS but still there seems to be little movement.

Is anyone else in AP as long as I have or done anything different?

- A Frustrated Scotlandmd

wow thats a long AP, especially coming from London. Did they tell you why you were in AP? I know they have certain databases they check based on your profession/education and nationality but thats for security clearances. Did they say if you were in AP at the embassy or in Washington?

Not really any news here either. Last week I was able to talk to someone at the embassy and was told they are just waiting to receive his case back from Washington. I tried calling again today and was told the consulate section was closed, which I know is true for people who have not had their interviews yet, however in our case they are working on it. I argued with the man on the phone for about 5 mintues before I gave up and just sent an email. They are pretty good at responding so hopefully I will get some news soon. I was thinking of going back over to visit, but I really wanted to wait until his visa was issued and fly back with him, but idk if that will be anytime soon. Also, hoping and praying he is here for the birth of our baby in 3 1/2 months.

Our AP is over! After badgering the embassy and state dept, I received a response from the embassy via email.

They said, "The case has undergone the Administrative Process and the Visa is ready for issue. The documents appear to be complete and in order. In order to issue, your husband must call to schedule a 221 appointment. The information on how to do this is enclosed. At that time he must bring his Passport.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our office."

YAY!

If it has been over a month, I think everyone should email or call once a week. For us it was 4 months, but I don't know when they were planning to tell us that it was over if I hadn't emailed them to ask.

Good luck to everyone! I hope things move smoothly for you.

Mandyu1 it's almost impossible to get any information from the DOS except the words "still pending".

I know, I called there this morning because I received a reply email from the embassy. Last week DOS told me that all visa's coming out of Cairo were on hold until the embassy reopened. However, the email I received earlier this morning states that if an applicant had an interview prior to them closing, and their passport is at the embassy, they will finish processing it and send the visa/passport via DHL. I mentioned this to her and said it contradicts what I was told last week by them...she really didn't know what to say other than they're not on the grounds of Cairo and don't know what they're doing there (really!!..I kind of figured that) Hoping to hear some news soon!

Its been 1 month since we've been in AP, I know thats not long compared to some people here, but givin the situation right now in Egypt who knows when it will be over. I've called DOS hoping for some updates and they've told me that if its name checks in Washington they will continue to do so but the visa will not be issued until the embassy reopens. However they will not tell me what exactly is being done. I have read on here before were people have found out if the AP was at the embassy or in name checks, etc... How do I find out what is going on with my case? I almost feel like while this is going on in egypt my case is sitting some place collectiong dust!!

Well it appears I am joining this group but at the NVC level. I posted a comment on the "Stuck in AP @ NVC" however, from what I can see I'm the only one currently in AP on that tread :( , so I thought I would come hang here and hope to get some company and pray I don't get AP at the embassy as well.

I like to think that if I have AP early I won't have it at the embassy, but im not getting my hopes up.

United KingdomA question

Thanks guys. I'm trying to figure out what I want the blog to be. Yeah, to some extent it IS a diary, but I also really appreciate the feedback and I don't want to lose that. Some commenters call me an attention ####### BECAUSE I have comments on, but that isn't the case at all. I want comments, if I want comments, because I want to hear other people's opinions on what I'm going through. In a lot of ways, I know I have a very straightforward case with my fiance and the visa, but it doesn't mean I'm not always confused about how I feel about things.

I also think the comments are making me tougher! When I started, everything made me really upset and I cried a lot. But now even when someone DOES make me want to cry, I start to think that I don't have to listen to everything everyone says and treat it like it is the gospel truth. :)

True, I have read some of your remarks back and have thought OMG I can't beleive she said that. Also, you need to consider your fiance's feelings, if some of the comments are bothering him because of his mum then I think you should respect his feelings and turn the comments off, or refrain from discussing her in such detail on your blog.
mandyu1FemaleEgypt2010-07-21 13:15:00
United KingdomA question
Well Melissa I have seen your blog and some of the comments and some are yes beyond rude. You said the feedback helps you, but how can it be helping if some of the comments make you upset? I have to agree with your fiance, when you put your personally life open on the internet for everyone to see you open all kinds of doors, good and bad. If you can learn to accept that these comments as someone voicing their opinion and in some cases being jealous and having nothing better to do then it wouldn't hurt to keep it on. But I think it would be better for you and your relationship to shut the comments down.

Also, you compared it to a diary, however a diary does not talk back to you, you don't let others read your diary, it is a place for you to write and work thru your issues and reflect on life. If you want your blog to be like a diary close down the comments.

Good Luck!!

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusMIL visa application

her son can apply to i-130 to her ...he already have green card so he can..he don't have to be citizenship to apply to her.

Wrong, you have to be a US Citizen by either birth or Naturalization to sponsor someone to immigrate. A greencard holder is just a permenent resident.

I just received an email from the supervisor that the embassy has been changed...persistence pays off. However I noticed that the case number on the email is different from the one I was originally given. Thanks again for the advice!!

I would definitely keep calling every day for them to get it done and keep track of each of the OP names.
I can't believe they said that Riyadh may not transfer the file. What would happen then??

well about 30 minutes after my initial call I received a call from the supervisor, saying she could not locate my email, so I resent while she was on the phone, 15 minutes later I received a reply from her that it was received and being reviewed. I thought I would give her some time, so like 3 hrs later I called back to see if it was fixed and got the same idiot from earlier. He said the supervisor had just left 6 minutes earlier and to call back tomorrow, but I insisted on speaking to another supervisor. Finally another supervisor came on the phone and said it was being worked on and to call back in the morning. He also stated that since the case is being worked on that it will not leave NVC until it is complete..lets hope he's right. I will be calling back first thing in the AM.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC sending case to wrong embassy

When you call back to NVC - ask for a supervisor.

Ask the supervisor to open the casefile from the SAFEFILE system, and have the Embassy and addresses changed there, WITH A REQUEST to move the casefile as well. There may be some issue for the Supervisor to do this, hard to know in advance.

Not many NVC Tele-Operators know about SafeFile, but the Supervisors sure do... (supposedly).
SAFEFILE is the electronic communications net that NVC and All Embassies use to xmit casefiles electronically.

If you can't get it resolved at NVC - try again with the DoS Hotline (# in my profile)

I just called them again and the tele-operator was having a supervisor look for the email I sent to them yesterday. She has my contact information and said if the manager has any trouble locating it or there are any other issues they will call me today. However, Im not taking their word on that.

Hopefully when i call back tomorrow they will have some good news for me, if not I will do what you suggested.

Thanks!!!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC sending case to wrong embassy
Hi everyone,

Im a bit unhappy right now. My case was received at NVC on 7/13/10, and I jsut found out that my fiances address and embassy that will issue his visa are wrong. A week after I filed the petition I contacted USCIS and explained that my fiance was returning to Egypt and I needed to update his address and embassy info. I was told to put my request in writing and send to them, which I did and have delivery confirmation that they received it. Well they never updated it, now NVC told me to do the same thing, I emailed them a letter and copy of his passport yesterday. Called back today and was told its still not updated and could possibly take 2 weeks!!! Then was told that once it is updated they will send a letter to the embassy in Riyadh and request that the case be transfered over to Cairo but they have no guarantees that Riyadh will comply with this.

How do I get my case transferred to the Cairo embassy?

Thanks

NVC will assign another case# when they receive and process your file. Also, for K-1's the automated system does not work, you need to speak with a live person. I know the line is very busy to get thru, but try first thing in the morning, they start accepting calls at 7:30 am, and I usually get thru pretty quickly around 1pm.

First please excuse my ignorance, but I have read that sometimes people call the NVC or DOS to get an update on their case. What is the difference between the two, does 1 have access to more information than the other or are they the same thing but just referred to in a different way?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)i-130 and i129f Issue
The K3 has been replaced with the CR-1/IR-1. Before it was believed that the K3 was faster to process than the CR-1, but that is no longer the case. So everyone that applied for a K3 before this went into effect is being automatically switched over to a CR-1, and people who are just beginning the process are being instructed to file for the CR-1 from the beginning.

Hi all! Thanks for the help in advance! I was calling the NVC automated system today.I wanted to know if our case was forwarded to the embassy. We got our NVC notice letter dated July 15, 2010. But when I went via the automated system and I put our INS receipt number, it tells "No record of case number". How it can be that they don't have record when I already got a letter from them? Now to wait until monday, bad of me calling on the weekend :) Has it happen to you?

K1's cannot be tracked thru the automated system that is why there is no record of it. The automated system is for immigrant visas only and a K1 is considered a nonimmigrant visa. For any information on your case you need to call M-F 7:30-midnight and speak to a human.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)STUCK @ NVC for AP

Hi, in our particular CR1, instruction packet requests to send Police Clearance Certificate, this is required by the NVC to complete the case and send to embassy, I came across something that I posted on a response early that there are extra security checks done at NVC if the file is forwarded with a hit on it for additional security checks. They will request embassy for fingerprints, which was taken during police clearance to be forwarded to embassy.

Yes that may be the case with a CR-1 because they are processed by the NVC, however I think most of the people stuck in AP @ NVC (in this thread), like myself, filed a K1 fiance visa. The K1 is not processed at NVC like the CR-1, they only pass thru and typically only get held up for a couple of days at most there before they are sent off to the embassy.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)STUCK @ NVC for AP

Hi Everyone, I know most of us are at the stage at NVC for case to be completed. Something I wanted to advice of which might be helpful. Remember the PCC plays a role in this, I am wondering if NVC checks to see these are received by the embassy or if the fingerprints are received to finish the case. Remember they want to make sure the embassy has everything ready when case is forwarded to them. Most Police clearances are sent in approx 30days, this could delay the process.

Just some info.Good Luck.

Honestly I don't think that has anything to do with is, as the embassy does not even instruct the applicant to obtain the PCC until after the case is received from the NVC. I know some people start early and begin getting everything done ahead of time to speed things up, but its not a requirement to do and the NVC does advise people to wait for the embassy to contact them before they proceed. I know in my case my fiance didn't have his PCC, and he still does not have it done. This is just my opinion but I could be wrong.

Well I called the DOS today to see if I could get any information out of them and spoke to a woman named Sarah. She looked up my case and told me that there was no reason why they should still have my file (meaning it was not undergoing security clearances) and that the delay is because of our request to change the embassy. She had me on hold for awhile and called NVC and spoke with a supervisor that a status check has been issued on my file to find out why they are just sitting on it. She said next week it should be sent out to the embassy. I don't mind waiting another week, I'm just glad I finally got some answers besides the typical "still in AP."
