IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureschanging wife's name on her Philippines passport

We got married in the Phils. Can she change it in Bacolod? Or does she have to go to Manila? Then she has to go to a seminar? What is the seminar for? I thought you just had to get a med exam and then an interview at the U.S. embassy.

Your wife cannot change her passport without attending the CFO seminar first.

Hope this helps...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureschanging wife's name on her Philippines passport

she need to change her passport first before she will attend CFO seminar and before flying to U.S.

Wrong.

She MUST attend the CFO seminar first before amending her (maiden) passport. DFA will not accept her application without the CFO certificate.

Hi!

i was new in dis web syt..so i want to learn and know more info about geting merried in d phil. and apply a IR-1 / CR-1...
me and Mark r getting merried in d next 2 months and after dat we gona apply a spousal visa..but we dnt knw wer and how to start it..pls help us guys...ty..

First, your future husband need to obtain the Affidavit in Lieu of a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage at the US Embassy, Manila.

Second, you need to check and gather all the (wedding) requirements, get married.

After you married, I suggest you study the CR-1 Guide, then file for the visa petition.

Good Luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long?
OP- Depends on what service center (filer) you are. Basing on our timeline (and others), VSC takes a little longer than CSC in regards to processing.

5-8 months is the approximate timeline.

I'd suggest you start gathering all the necessary documents while waiting for the approval.

Best of luck to you and yours.

I got my NOA2 in 30 days flat from USCIS, but I also paid a visa service to help with the paperwork, don't know if that helped but they will be there every step of the way for us. We are still waiting for my NVC case number though, I will update my timeline when I receive word...

Wow! That's quick. Congratulations! Some visa service(s) do a good job helping their clients and most of them doesn't.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

I don't think you should make assumptions about people like that. Maybe she wants to stay because she has nothing to go back to? Maybe she left her whole life behind and burned bridges? Being the immigrant and leaving your whole world behind is a scary thing....and going back because it didn't work out could make someone feel embarrassed. Don't judge someone you don't know...you're not in their shoes.

Agreed.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresi wana come back

hey guys ... i have question after arrive in USA what i do for Green card and how long it takes to get in the mail , bcoz when i arrive in USA i want to come back after 30days from US to home country thanks , any problem with that if i come back after 1 month? because i am not leaving my job i am taking 1 month leave :P

GC usually takes about 2-4 weeks to arrive in the mail.

You can leave immediately. The I-551 stamp you will get in your passport is a temporary green card. No need to wait for the actual card.

As long as you have your green card you can leave the US & come back. Be careful how long you spend outside the US. Being a green card holder you should spend more time in the US than out. If you didn't plan on residing in the US, then you wasted money on the whole process.

Typically you can leave for 6 months or less with no real issues, but if you plan on leaving for a long time and want to eventually come back to the US, you will have 2 apply for a re-entry permit before you leave the US.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresfiling the 130 petition

I am filipina just married with foreign american here in philippines last june 18, 2011, its a church wedding. my hubby returned in US last july 9, 2011. My husband wants to start the cr-1 spouse visa he is thinking what is best to file for it he is living at alabama and what is best to get an immigration lawyer or do a filing paper on his own.My husband is working as carpenter at union there. I hope someone can help me regarding with this topic.

Hiring an attorney won't do any better than you doing your own research here at VJ. All you have to do is ask (like what you just did) and guarantee, you will get all the answers you need.

Here's the CR-1 Guide for you and your husband to study on.

Good Luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduressigned letters

What kind of validation do I and my wife need from the judge that marries us and what other signatures do we need to have or letters to prove that we are a real couple? Does it help to have signatures of police officers and Sheriffs or any elected officials?

The judge's signature on your marriage contract is a valid proof that you two are married. Same thing with the witnesses', if any.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresjune filers

We filed on June 13th, received NOA1 today 6/16/11. sent to VSC. I'm also curious what the times processing are compared to California?

Oh boy, talking about comparison. VSC is way too slow. :bonk: They're taking forever (5-8 months) to process the apps whereas CSC is a lot quicker.

But, who knows, you'll get lucky and get approved a lot faster than usual. :star:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUS EMBASSY-MANILA INTERVIEW

Dear Fellow VJ,

I am scheduled to be interviewed at the US Embassy on December 7, 2011 at 6:30am. I am wracking my brains now at the samples interview questions shared by fellow VJ. I would appreciate if anybody can share their INTERVIEW experiences at the US Embassy-MANILA.

Thank you!

The visa interview is pretty easy. You will be asked some basic questions about you and your fiance/ spouse. Just be honest and confident and you'll do fine.

Good Luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChoice of agent DS 3032

OP: You can designate yourself as the agent if you wish to do so. Once you have a case number from the NVC, you can email the DS-3032 to the NVC, this wiki, explains how to do that. In that message, you would designate yourself as the agent.

Furthermore, if the NVC has both email addresses on record (petitioner & beneficiary), they will send correspondence to both of you by email.

Agreed!

Thanks for the info and Wiki!!

Good luck with your visa process.
