K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSeek some ideas on passport matter for K-1 visa...
Where are you from, Marie? You don't need to go to Manila if you are residing in the province and want to apply for a passport. There are DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) Regional Consular offices (less congested than in Manila) that could process your application within the timeframe standardized by DFA:

For Regular Passport:
(6 working days)
32 pages P500
64 pages P600

Overtime Processing
P250 in addition to regular fee (2 working days)

Q. Where can one apply for a passport in the Philippines?

A. In the Philippines, one can apply for a passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs main office at Roxas Boulevard corner Libertad, Pasay City or at any of its Regional Consular Offices in Cauayan, Isabela; San Fernando, La Union; San Fernando, Pampanga; Lucena City; Legaspi City; Iloilo City; Cebu City; Cagayan de Oro City; Davao City and Zamboanga City.

DFA Regional Consular Offices: http://www.dfa.gov.ph/consular/rco.htm

Guidelines on Passport Application: http://www.dfa.gov.p...ar/passport.htm

FAQ's: http://www.dfa.gov.ph/consular/faq.htm

I pray that your meeting with your fiance will set the right directions for you. God bless!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs a lawyer necessary?

Here are my questions:

1) Is is possible to have success in obtaining a K1 visa if I submitt the paperwork? Is a lawyer necessary? Is the $1500- 2000 dollars for a lawyer worth it?

2) Any success stories without a lawyer?

3) Why not use a lawyer in the Philippines to help my wife-to-be?

Ray

Hi Ray,

We got our NOA2 without help from a lawyer. We did the research by ourselves. And you will find very important information here from visa journey: VISA FAQ, Guides and Links.

Good luck to your journey and Godspeed!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone received this message?

I just reveived the following message today.

"we received your response to our request for evidence or information. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current processing dates. "
Anyone received message before? and anyone can tell me what does it mean?

Thanks.

yes...we have received that response before...it means they acknowledge receipt of the IMBRA form that you sent back to them...and the next thing you will be waiting is for your NOA2...We pray you get your NOA2 soon!

Good luck and Godspeed!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures1st Post and Good News

Hello all,

This is my first post. I received my first NOA on July 31st, and today, despite the fact that I received no touches, received an email that my case had been approved.

Seems really fast to me, but hey, I am not complaining...lol

Hope everyone else can enjoy a similar experience.

That was fast! Congratulations and Godspeed!

I'm tired of being depressed. I've decided (at least today - could change) to have a better attitude and be lucky to have people especially Leo in my life who truly love me. We have many years ahead of us. No matter where we are - USA or not.

That's the spirit. Praying for you and Leo.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAPPROVED !!!!

So what my very next move now? My fiance is through the Manila Embassy....what can i do to expedite the process?

Congratulations! I suggest you email NVC at NVCINQUIRY@state.gov to follow up status of your case rather than wait for them to inform you (a live person at NVC usually says that it will take 3-4 weeks for them to receive approved petitions from USCIS...but there are those whose petitions were received in a weeks time)...and always follow-up to get their attention...NVC will assign you a Manila Case Number and send your approved petition to the Embassy...The Embassy will receive your case number 10-15 days after it leaves NVC. Scheduling of interview is 3-5 months upon receipt at the Embassy. One can request for an early appointment interview: http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3227.html

When To Request An Early Appointment: A request for an early appointment may be filed when there are verifiable personal or medical emergencies involving the petitioner, beneficiary, spouse or minor children.

Who May Request An Early Appointment: (1) Petitioners and applicants of fiancé(e) (K1) and immediate relative petitions (K3, CR1/IR1, CR2/IR2, IR5), and (2) petitioners and applicants of family-sponsored and employment-based preference petitions that are current for processing (i.e., when a visa number is available or when the cutoff date in your visa preference category has advanced up to your priority date).

What Are The Documents Required: (1) Medical certificate/medical record of person with serious illness, or (2) travel or deployment orders of the petitioning member of the U.S. Armed Forces, or (3) other documentary proof of extreme emergency to necessitate un-delayed travel to the United States.

Hope this helps you.

God bless,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAlmost 3 Weeks, NVC says it could take 90 Days???

Ok, so normally once the case is processed (from what I have seen) when it leaves CSC, it takes a few weeks at most to get to the NVC to forward it on.

However, I have been waiting now 3 weeks, and contacted NVC each week. I keep getting a differnet answer, some of the reps say wait 4 weeks, other say wait 3 months...so which is it????

WHY is this taking so long to have the freakin mail from CSC to the NVC????

Inquire thru email ...

NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

They will send you a response in 2-5 days...

Good luck and Godspeed!

My K-1 petition was approved on September 18, and NVC still doesn't have me on file yet... Evidently USCIS hasn't sent it out yet. I don't understand what is going on. I wish they have sent the approval on to Manila.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresa question about children

Perhaps I did not make myself clear. My fiance's son does not want to immigrate here with his mother. I do not want to involve him in the immigration process if I don't have to. My question is if I have to include him on the I-129f because he is still 20yo at the time of application, but does not want to immigrate, does he still have to attend the interview. I am not sure he would go anyway if asked......................Ken

Hello,

Which embassy will your fiancee go for the interview? And besides, before your fiancee and her son go to the interview, they should comply first with the medical requirements. Your fiancee's son's physical presence for medicals is a must. In the Philippines, the passports prior to the interview should be authenticated first by the Medical Clinic (St Luke's Medical Extension) as proof of medical examination. In most cases, the passports are left at the clinic and it is the clinic that forwards the passports and medical results to the embassy. In special cases (if the interview is scheduled the following day), the clinic allows the applicant to bring the passport (with authentication) as well as the sealed envelope containing the medical results to be given to the consular officer.

I suggest, you just put the name of your fiance's son in the petition. Who knows, he might change his mind. And do you know that because my daughter is ageing out (she will be 21 in January 2007), they expedited our case? We will now be flying to the States in November. But the journey does not end. We have to act fast so we can adjust status before she turns 21.

Just give a thought on this. Willingness on the part of the K2 (fiance/e's child) is very important.

God bless,
(F)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinally Online

My check was finally cashed a week after I sent my petition. I got my WAC# off the back of the check and have checked my status online for the first time (I've already got the urge to keep checking...). Anyway, now that the check has been cashed, how long does it usually take to get NOA1?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

It takes about 1-2 weeks from filing. Have a pleasant journey.
