US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow long for Manila to enter K1 into system?

All,

My K1 petition was received by the embassy in Manila on
the morning of the 9th, per DHL tracking by reference number.
So, they have had it for a week now and I am still getting
"Case type number not valid". From what I gather from other
post is that this translates to, you case has not been entered
into the system yet. (btw. yes my fiance paid the $350 fee already)

How long does it take them to enter petitions these days?
Dose VJ log the time it takes from when the embassy receives
the petition till they enter it into the system?

In this computer age, one would think that they would just transfer
the case over to Manila electronically. But I guess they DHL it and
someone types it in again.
I might call, but I am sure it will be a waist of $20 or whatever it
is, for them to tell me what I already know, it is not entered into
the system yet.

Thanks for any info.
Jim,

Be patient. In our case it took 2 weeks from when we estimated USEM received our file til it was entered in the system and we could book online. I read somewhere also that you can't really rely on the supposed tracking system as NVC will only tell you they've cleared your file to go, not when it is actually picked up by the courier.

Just keep trying to book your appointment everyday and one day it will happen!

Oh and btw, they do send both an electronic file as well as a hard copy. At least that's what USEM told me when I emailed them. If you want you could inquire here: ivmanilareplies@state.gov

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa Fee Online Payment --Email receipt ok?
Hi all,

I paid my K-1 visa fee (for interview) online through BPI. So I don't have an "official" receipt, just an emailed acknowledgement from the "CGI Team". The email doesn't even state my complete name and passport number.

Has anyone paid online before? Is it ok to just bring a copy of that email to the interview as proof of payment? I will also bring a printout of my online statement, showing the debit for the MRV. Will this be enough?

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview today -- K-1 visa approved!
My K-1 visa was approved today. We are both very happy and relieved. Of course there is still a way to go, but we wish to thank everyone here on VJ who has helped us to get to this stage of the journey!

I will post an embassy review soon. Good luck to you all!

Without knowing the specifics of your case, it seems to me like you've got all your ducks in a row. One other thing I brought with me was a copy of the original petition my fiance had sent in. They don't ask for it of course but I wanted to have a reference handy for all the info we had ever sent in.

Good luck!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpolice clearance in singapore

Hi,

Thanks a lot, i have gone through the links, and yes i have provided an email and the copy of the notice to NVC, but they still gave an RFE to me....What about others? has any one got past that?

I just had my interview at the US embassy in Manila last week and all the staffers I dealt with were aware that Singapore no longer issues the COC. So they did not ask me for one. This may be a case of a localized and non-official briefing.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpolice clearance in singapore
At US Embassy in Manila, I've read of at least 2 recent cases where the applicant did not submit the Singapore clearance. They presented either an email response from the Singapore Police or a print out of the policy change from their website.

You can see it here:

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSingapore Police Clearance - Update after my interview
I am posting this for all those who need a Singapore Police Clearance for their embassy interview.

I worked in Singapore for 5 years, and as we know, a police clearance is required for all applicants who have lived overseas for more than 6 months. But since October 2010, the Singapore Police Force have stopped issuing this clearance to non-Singaporeans, except on appeal. The notification is posted on their website.

Yesterday, I had my interview at the US embassy Manila. There are 2 interviews -- 1 by a Filipino staffer who puts together all the documents you need to submit (affidavit of support, DS forms, etc) and asks preliminary questions. The second and final interview is done by a US consular officer. Both of them asked me which countries I had ever worked in outside the Philippines. I told them Indonesia and Singapore. Both of them were aware that the Singapore Police Clearance is no longer available, and they did not ask me for it.

It seems this information has been disseminated to all embassy staff. But I would suggest you bring a copy of the notification from the SPF website in case anyone you speak to is in doubt.

Good luck!
