United KingdomMoving back to UK!!!
Hey guys!!

Not been on here for quite some time!! Well, we decided to make the move back to sunny ol' England whistling.gif We leave on June 6th!! The visa for my hubby was super easy and way less stressful/time consuming as my ugly process, thankfully!!! I've had a wonderful time over here, and hopefully we will move back in the future but as for now we need the love/support of my family, especially having the little guy now.

If anyone needs help/advice re a British settlement visa feel free to email me.

United Kingdomunfriendly brits in SoCal
regional rivalries??? sorry but how daft is that!! I know it goes on though.....

I loved havin a couple of english friends when I was studyin in Cali - it was good having someone to laugh with and talk about what we missed about home etc. Whenever I heard a tourist who was british I always spoke the them!! Actually Roshon probably started the conversation (he always tries to guess if they are 'northern' or 'southern' etc its so funny trying to explain a jordie or a scouser!!)

If i was in one of those manky sounding english pubs, i'd have been your friend

I absolutely love the States and can't wait to move back but I'll ALWAYS love England and it'll always be where I call home. I spend so much time complaining about england but i love it really!

Oh and why do chippy chips taste so dang good!! I missed them (and chesire cheese) sooooo much and I will do when I go back to my love! Roshon just doesn't get the chippy chip thing - he reckons any chips that are fatter than french fries taste like chippy chips  we always bicker about it!!!!!

There was/is an authentic british chippy in Fresno - hahaha I went all excited and it was french fries and all types of exotic fish - no pies, gravy (northern thing!), curry, I don't even think they had regular cod!! I didn't even order anything - I was to heartbroken :crying:

Hi guys!

Anyone have any info on where to get GOOD cheese from in California??? Or do the online stores have them?? I know I'm not even there yet but I spent 8 months last year without decent cheese and its one of my fave things!! Just a nice piece of Chesire or Wenslydale....jeees I'd even eat Stilton!

soon to be cheeseless Sam :D

United KingdomAny UK teachers moved to the US?

Hello there UK Forum

My husband and I are considering moving back to California (I think it's our love of the visa process that brings us back and forth no0pb.gif ).  We are both teachers here and we just wondered if any UK teachers have moved over to the US and pursued a teaching career there?

Thanks

Sam (UK) and Roshon (USA)

Asia: East and PacificNeed some Aussie advice!!
Hey guys!

Thanks for reading this (and hopefully helping out)! Some friends of ours are hoping to move to Australia - they have the right qualifications etc but they are worried due to him being in trouble with the police when he was younger. Also when they visited he just ticked the box stating he had no criminal convictions so this may also be an issue. They are currently using a lawyer but he doesn't sound great, can anyone recommend a good one?? Or any advice for them??? Also if anyone can point us to a forum such as this but for moving to Australia...

Thanks alot guys, any form of help would be appreciated good.gif

Invicta Studio, 83 Oxford Street, Manchester, 0161 236 4644 ext 2573

Thats the photo place that is mentioned in Packet 3!

It sounds like most places will make the pics to the right requirements though!

There is an approved photo place on Oxford Road in Manchester - it tells you the exact address on the photo info we got with packet 3 (I'm not home or I would have give you exact address)!

Good luck with the interview!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUK Applicants - important info for medical
Well I never got given anything when I had my medical in January?!? I did however need another MMR which I had a couple of days after (its free at my docs and it was £35 there  ) and I had to post them confirmation of this....... I guess I should just call and ask them to send it me then? Anyone dealt with this through Knightsbridge?

Thanks

Sam

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3
I'd get the police certificate sent off for straight away - it took 38 days for mine to come!

Also check that the birth certificate is the long form version as this can take a couple of weeks to get sent!

As James stated, all the forms are sent in packet 3 and they are quite simple so nothing really to worry about.

You could be sorting I-134 and supporting documents as that needs to be handed over at the interview and can take a while to get in order (depending on your circumstances & if you need a co-sponsor).

You don't need to take anything to the medical except a passport photo and your immunization records. Oh, make sure MMR, Tetnus etc are up to date. I've heard others say its a few weeks wait for an appointment....but its taking a couple of months to get an interview date so hopefully that won't be a problem. Maybe get one booked for next month if possible??

Hope this helps :star:

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionknightsbridge medical...
You have to wear a paper gown type thing (actually I think its cloth)! Don't worry you don't have to stand there in all your glory!!! The doctor I saw was male and I think he was more nervous than me. I didn't get checked out 'down there' either. He just asked me a couple of questions. A nurse sat in while he did the other stuff like check my reflexes, pressed in my belly etc.

Its quite quick and painless really!

Hi!

The I-134 is required at the interview for the K1 visa. You are definately permitted to go with your fiance to the interview - it is a great idea!! It provides further proof of your relationship!

Good luck

Sam

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhen Can You Enter The US? Questions also interview

Once you have the Visa in your passport, you can leave for the U.S. that very same day if you want to. There's no problem with it looking suspicious.... you just want to get "home" as soon as possible.

You don't have to have an actual wedding date if you haven't planned it yet, just tell them that you will be married within the 90 days after entry.

I doubt they will ask you why you want to move to the U.S. I think the fact that you are marrying a USC is reason enough. I wouldn't worry too much about that part.

Congrats on the NOA2 and good luck with your move to the U.S.

Ditto  but the passport/visa has to be delivered to you doesn't it??? I'm not sure you can pick it up? or maybe you could have it delivered to where you are staying?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview in london on thursday
Don't forget to pay the £63 embassy fee and take the slip with you (you got it in packet 4)! Thats the only thing I didn't see on your list.

You'll also need £9.50 cash for the courier fee for your passport, well doesn't have to be exact they have change they just don't accept cards!

We needed to use a co-sponsor as my guy is still in college but it didn't matter at all. I didn't even get asked one question about how we met etc!!

Good luck, honestly its a pain free experience if all your paperwork is in order.

Oh and don't forget to take a photocopy of your police certificate and birth certificate and I think maybe a copy of some of the supporting evidence of the I-134 (bank letter, employer letter).

United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors
Had my medical today, all went okay
I've got to have my MMR booster before I do AOS and get some sort of print out to prove I've got that
I'm not sure if my doctors actually do a proper print out, I know they weren't very fourth coming with evidence when I got my injections done before the medical.

However, has the price of the medical changed? I had to pay £210

You can't get an interview date until after you have the medical, so once you've got the police certificate and LND number get it booked

United Kingdommedical exam help
They don't need 'medical records' they need 'vaccination history'
My doctors gave me a little book like you'd give to a child when they have their pre-school jabs done, this was fine.

But yes, you need the police certificate for the medical, they'll ask if you have it yet when you ring up to book the medical.
