US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview 20th November

You don't need to fill in the DS-157. That is for males between 16 and 45 only.

Where are you getting this information from?

different Embassys can have different requirements. we're going thru Manila where both male and female submit the DS-157. Just like if we post a question about CFO, if you're not going thru Manila, you might ask Huh?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 Forms

i would put NONE inthe work area. I read on visajourney somewhere that by saying that you are considering work, they, may say then why are you not applying for a work visa. Even at the interview if they ask do you plan to work when you get there, your answer should be no, I am going to US to be with my husband/wife. Same for education.

Good Luck

we put answers similar to what YuandDan suggested. there's no right or wrong. no problem to do so. you have to remember, this form is used for other types of non-immigrant visas. if on a student visa, you would put no to work. etc etc

From what I've heard, a K-1 visa is NOT required to have a round trip ticket. for other non-immigrant visa's that could be true, such as a tourist visa.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSPECIFIC DATE OF TRAVEL (COMPULSORY)

Well, I would answer the way you've been advised so far as DS-156 goes.

Have you noticed on the checklist that Londen sent you entry lines for 'travel date' and 'wedding date'? I'd strongly advise putting something in there. London attempts to accomodate these dates and if you want your interview on your timetable I'd suggest putting something in there, even if its just an estimate.

Manila doesn't have a packet 3. K-1 interviews are assigned according to date received at Embassy. expedited interview can be requested, but have to have legit reason, age-out... etc.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPoverty Guidelines/I-134 question

The OP is in the Phillipines.

The stronger the Affidavit the better.

Keep it simple but list all assets. The more solid the affidavit the better.

rebeccajo,

Other than the Phillipines being a "high export" country....

Why do you think the strength of the affadavit is important?

Correct, all the consular officer wants to see is evidence that the beneficiary is not going to be a charge of the state, nothing more.

The OP is best to check with other members going through the phillipines as what is required of their particular consulate by way of the I-134 and documentation that the applicant won't become a public charge.

I didn't list any assets. guess I'll see what happens. I'm not worried at all about it.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpls help...AOS

can anybody help me??? NVC have forwarded our papers to manila embassy. they have received it nov. 3. my questions are, will i be receiving anymore papers? what about the AOS, will they send me a form? and the payment for visa or visa application, how does it work? thank u very much :)

long ways to go before you AOS here in USA. will take about 120 days before your interview date.
here's a link to the US Embassy in Manila Immigrant visa page:

http://usembassy.sta...a/wwwh3023.html

on this page is the appointment link check. it will probably be the middle of Jan before you have an interview scheduled. you receive packet 4 after you have been schedulrd an interview. there is no packet 3 for Manila, but you may receive a letter from the Embassy confirming your petition arrived at the Embassy. If you don't receive one, don't worry. my fiancee didn't receive one. if you scroll down the page on the link, you can download and see what packet 4 will look like. check out the Manila interview thread in the Embassy forum.

when you do the ds-156 online, it generates a third page which has a barcode. you save the page with the barcode. the barcode contains the info entered on the form. you can enter the info from the form the lawyer sent you, print it out, then use that.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Affidavit-are bank statements a must

Hello going through the same thing myself, only my fiance is the sponsor, she also earns near three times the guideline. I would just send the current ITRs W-2 and a letter from his employer confirming his salary.

Do you know where you can get the I-134 notified or does this not have to be done?

the I-134 has to be notarized. it can be done at any public notary in your county.

ITR's and W-2's provided to back up the income, I don't think not having bank statement would be problem.

Read the form because I do not believe that the I-134 even asks for the submission of your past 3 year tax returns but this can be used as additional proof of income.

even though the I-134 does not require ITR and W-2, it may be requirement of the Embassy. check your packet or your Embassy's website.

My fiancee is from the Philippines. when I email the Embassy I got this response:
Subject: RE: XXXXXX, YASMIN +1

From: "Consular IV Manila" <ConsIVManila@state.gov> Add to Address Book Add Mobile Alert

As long as both applicants are named in the I-134 affidavit of support, a single copy will suffice.

I'm going thru Manila. I sent my documents to my fiancee one month before the interview. I suggest to also send a letter to reaffirm commitment to marriage. I think 1 to 3 months would be a good range, over six months, you might have the possibility of the Embassy requesting a more recent document.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion150 days!really?

do we really have to wait for 150 days before we get our interview schedule or our packet? oh thought it would be in january :(

no, thats not true..it should only take you a month or so

a month or so not likely for most K-1's. In our case it was 112 days from date physical petition reached Embassy till our interview date.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionApproved Petition Expire Soon!
ours was automatically extended would have expired before interview date. If you haven't received interview date, then might want to contact Embassy to be safe. If interview has been scheduled, they will automatically extend the NOA2. Next batch of interviews will be released after Dec 15th. by your timeline, a Feb interview date looks pretty good.

yes. you are correct the I-134 about not being required, unless self employed. I know you've done your research in preparing for your interview. there are some who don't do much or any research. they may interpet not needing ITR for I-134 as meaning they don't have to submit it, when in fact they may be required to submit one.

thats alot of questions. i'll try answering a couple. the CFO can be attended at anytime. you do not need your pasport to attend. when you need the visa is to get the sticker. CFO may ask for a copy of your divorce decree. my fiance attended in Cebu with no problems. you probably might want to get another Cenomar if the one you have is more than a year old. no guarantees the medical will be done in one day, even if you show up very early.

I don't know if this is the law that's being referred to. RA 9225 amended the Family Code in March 2004 to allow an illegitimate child to have the surname of the father. the situation I refer to is when no father is listed on the BC, has the surname of the mother and the father has not been an participatant in this child's life, in many instances not knowing where he can be found.
