Hurah! We are approved for early interview. Our new interview date is February 26.

A month from now is double what I asked for, but I will accept it gladly. It is certainly better than May or June. My goodness, this process will age you quickly.

Congrats! wishing you smooth sailing the rest of the way.

also congrats to all who have received their March interview dates.

I hope u are right about the posting this afternoon. They need to do it soon for the March Interviews so the medical can be done at the end of Feb. You are obviously more experienced at this than we are. What time of the month do they normally post it? My understanding was they posted about the middle of the month. Also will they post for one month or two months at a time?

Thanks for the response, Dean

the interviews are released anytime after the 15th of the month. they release one month at a time. since it's Monday the 22nd now in Manila, that's why I'm thinking they could be released today. I'l keep my fingers crossed for everyone waiting.

I tried online booking with PAL yesterday, but the website would not accept my credit card. when called PAL Reservations, they would keep giving me different answers and please call back in an hour. today when i called told me nothing they could do. the system was having trouble validating some credit cards. they would not take payment by phone for online booking. they quoted me $200 more than the online rate to book by phone, so I booked thru LBC Travel. hope no one else experiencing same problem trying to book online with PAL.

Hello everyone, I just want to thank you all for the support and information I got from this forum. We just got approved, I think, I asked the cosul he said we're ok, I saw the K APPROVED thing on a pink slip, I paid DELBROS... so I think that was it. My appointment was 7:30 and we get out the embassy by 9:30. K applicant with minors will be expedited, as far as I observed they attach and little thingy that says PLEASE EXPIDITE WITH MINOR, it's orange in color.

Congrats on the approval. have a happy life together.

About going to medical with cough and congestion.

Lilia went to the medical on 12/21 with bronchitis. etc etc. etc. etc.

Does anyone know the absolute best way to go about requesting a "rescheduled" appointment? Her medical is complete and her passport is already at the USE. I will begin calling tomorrow morning Manila time.

Rob, the same experience happened to a friend of my wife's in September. Once her medical was clear, she had her interview the following week. Her husband called the embassy in Manila and they were very helpful in getting it arranged this quickly. Good Luck to you!

I called the embassy tonight and told them the story. Lorraine said I might get appointment in May. I believe I had a small stroke when she said that. I was expecting to hear a week or two.

If anyone has experience in this type situation, please contribute.

I don't know if this can help. from Embassy website:

Just wondering if its possible to do the medical at ST.Lukes in 1 day being as my fiancee has already her shots and the med appointment is on friday........Just trying to avoid her having to go back on the following monday if thats the normal procedure.

She wasnt really wanting to spend a weekend there in manila at a hotel with the baby if she can avoid it.

Also if she declines to get any shots needed and gets them when she is in the states if that can make a differance for the 2nd day.

If you go really early in the morning there's a chance to complete in 1 day, but you won't know until they tell you. She can just go on Thursday and finish on Friday. She doesn't need an appointment to go on an earlier day. Remember to bring her passport, appointment letter and 3 passport-sized photos.

Does she need too bring all her proof of a relationship also? Will they ask interview-related questions?

She need too bring the ds-156, 156k, 157 or the 134?

Wow we are so close also! Next week she will leave!

Thanks again Gary!!!

that's what she'll need when she goes to the Embassy on interview day.

I have questions for the USC. When do you start filing for 2006 ITR in the US? For those going to February interview, did you file your ITR early so your fiancee can present a 2006 ITR? Thanks.

Tax returns have to be filed by April 15th. even if Tax return hasn't been filed. one could submit a W-2 for 2006. if a W-2 not available, the paycheck stub from the last payroll period in 2006 should have the cumulative gross income for 2006.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionfollow to join

My daughter (she is 6 years old)will follow me to the US under my K1 status can someone tell me exactly what's the procedure/procedures. And does she need to attend when I go for my medical and interview? Thanks a lot in advance.... :)

if you plan on using K-2 for follow to join, the K-2 will have to be issued within one year from the issuance of your K-1 visa. make sure to allow plenty of time to arrange for an interview. the child will also have to have a medical prior to the interview. if more than a year lapses, you will have to start from scratch and file a
I-130 for the child.
the child does not need to attend your medical and interview unless you are applying for the k-2 at the same time. if you get the k-2 at the same time and plan on follow to join, remember that k-2 will expire six months after it is issued. it can not be renewed. it could be difficult to travel back to the Philippines in the first six months you are here in US. you would need an Advance Parole for travel I-131 if you are still in AOS.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion150 days for Manila Embassy to issue an Interview Date?

I've heard that it can be sooner from isolated cases as posted here but that is the figure now, approx. 150 days from consulate receiving physical docs from NVC. I wonder how one could be lucky? I guess a lot of us will be drafting a letter to the consulate officer to extend our K1 petition since it is my understanding its good for 4 months from the time NVC approves the petition.

since it's common at Manila Embassy for the four months to lapse before the interview, the Embassy will automatically extend the NOA2.

that seems kind of strange. given a date in Feb? didn't think the Embassy scheduled an interview more than 90 days in advance.

Yeah Thats what I thought too.
My Fiance just got her letter saying her interview is Dec 4th. Maybe they are moving the interviews presently forward to process old cases like mine! Im an IMBRA Causualty
Feb would fall into the 120 day catagory...

Is there any publication of this anywhere?

i checked the appointment link. our date hasn't changed. i didn't see anything on Embassy website about postponements.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCFO

My fiancee is in the Philippines and the NOA2 approval has left NVC on September 20th. I don't know if the Manila Embassy has received it or not. I have heard of Filipina fiancees having to go for CFO. What is that and do all Filipina fiancees have to have it? Also, how can my fiancee, (or me), find out if and when the Manila Embassy received the NOA2 notice?
Thanks for any help you can give me concerning these matters.

it's a requirement of the Philippine Gov. yes, she will have to attend a seminar, where she will get a certificate so that she will be able to get the stamp in the passport, here's a link to CFO Manila.
http://www.cfo.gov.ph/fs_manila.htm

you can call the Embassy at 011 63 528 6300 ext 5184 or 5185 to find out if the physical petition has arrived at the Embassy. when you are assigned a case number, an electronic file of your petition is sent to the Embassy.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Co-Sponsor---Liable for What exactly?
the I-134 is not legally binding, so there would be no effect to a co-sponsor. when you adjust your status, if your fiancial situation has not improved, you would need a co-sponsor for the I-864. that one IS legally binding.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNBI Clearance for USE in Manila, Philippines

Lilia's NBI is dated July 5 and states "No derogatory record". Also states for foreign travel. It is valid for one year. I expect our interview to be in January. Does this all sound correct? I don't want her to get to interview and have to re-schedule because of some minor "slip-up".

Its my understanding that you can't get the CFO stamp until you have obtained the visa. But you can go ahead and take the seminar beforehand, just hang onto the receipt and records that you attended, and then goto the CFO office for the stamp once the visa is received.

that's my understanding also. they won't stamp your passport till you have visa in hand.

We got her CFO in Cebu also and sure they required it before the passport not. also we need to return to the CFO in cebu after her interview. Looks likes she will be talking a boat there from her city.

Good Luck! Victor

the DFA website says:
C. For fiancees and spouses of foreign nationals
Original and photocopy of Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) Guidance and Counseling Certificate of Attendance.
i heard many get their passport without it by checking tourist, as purpose of travel. my fiance did check immigrant, but they didn't ask for a copy of the CFO Certificate.

Yes she has her passport already..that why i dont understand why the nun said she didnt need to take the seminar agin..just to bring back the visa after the interview and they would stamp it with the sticker so she could fly back to the US with me..i dont know what to think now..if she didnt pass they would have told her right?.her dad also accompanied the seminar with her..what do you think?..is she ok?
Thanks,
Keith&Irish Forever

Well, at worst case, she should have a receipt for the charge which could be used to verify that she at least attended, but I'm hoping that everything will be OK. You can actually call them to get the story from them. I have called everyone... CFO... PRISM... SLEC... USE... HOTELS... and the whole nine yards because I want the story straight from them to clear up any confusion.

Ok Uling,
Thanks i thinl she is ok heres her reply she sent to me after her seminar was over

"irish belono (11/3/2006 2:09:00 AM): Babes im done 4 d cfo but..d nun said 2 me dat i hve 2 take a interview n manila den after dat come back here n cfo 2 get d certificate..the nun was very okay..

And yes she has the reciept from the seminar so if she passes the interview and we can pick up the visa we will head straight back to the CFO and bring it to the nun..i dont think a nun would lie..that would be a big sin for her right?

i think you should be OK. first time i've seen someone post they give the certificate after the Embassy interview. since she has the passport, ok also. sometimes the DFA asks for copy of the certificate when reason applying for passport is fiance/married to foreign national.

Hi,
My fiancee took her CFO seminar yesterday and after the one on one the nun who she said was very nice to her told her she needs to take he interview and then bring back the visa and they will stamp it so she can travel back to the US with me. But she didt get the certificate as the nun explained to her she will get that after she brings back the visa..has anyone else had this happen? I thought it was strange and she was supposed to get the certificate and after she brings her visa in w/ the certificate they would stamp it..the nun told her she had passed and she would recieve the stamp after the interview and brings the visa..anyone have any advice on that?
Thanks,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion about Packet for K-1
first your fiance will receive a letter from the Embassy confirming when your physical petition reaches the Embassy. once it reaches the Embassy. you are put on the waiting list for an interview. it will be about 120 days till the interview. after the interview is scheduled, a week or two later your fiance will receive the appointment packet. you'll probably have to wait two months to know the interview date. you check for it by using the appointment check link in the Embassy website. may i suggest you join the Manila Interview thread. lots of helpful info to be found in it.

probably depends on how many visas the Embassy is processing. best thing is to check your Embassy's website, like you did. the EVAF has a third page which has a barcode with key information encoded into it.
