Does anyone know if my fiancee needs to take certified copy of my divorce papers to the interview in Manila, or will copies do? I sent certified copy with i-129f. I can order more, but it is a pain to go to the courthouse.
Thanks,
Rob

i think it's a good idea for her to have original , certified copy in case the CO asks to see it. that way no AR having to send it to her later. perhaps someone who has had interview can answer if CO has requested it.

I am so relieved to hear that StarProg. Are you back in the US now?

Question: how do we track when it leaves the NVC and gets to Manila?

Check out Uling's signature to get the NVC's tel. no. You may also inquire by sending email at NVCInquiry@state.gov

Ok, thanks PW.

They will also be able to tell us if when manila has received it? The reason I ask is that I didn’t update my address to them and need to call them on Monday. I know I will receive a letter from them sometime the new number.

How and where do we track the interview dates?

Thanks again! God bless!!! Victor

Analyn wants to stay in Manila to see her Aunt who is going to Manila for an operation. The plan is for her to leave Monday.

hi

do they ask for paycheck stubs with regard to affidavit of support? is it correct that i should be filing i134?what do they usually ask?

thanks

soymilk

correct, for k Visa you will need a notarized I-134. your fiance should provide recent pay check stubs, W-2(s) for 2005 and copy of 2005 Tax Return. tax transcripts are available free from IRS. they are accepted as copy of tax return. also include recent letter from his employer that varifies his employment and job status. not sure if also need tax returns from 2003 and 2004.

Phil-Am Families...

I need some input to add more information to the Phil-Am K1 Information that we have assembled, but I want to have just the information that we supplied for our approval. These are the frequently asked questions that I have received about the DS-156 and I-134 forms.

Well, check this out and let me know...

NOTE: It is my assessment that all of the questions below are actually designed for the other nonimmigrant categories.

Most frequently asked questions on the DS-156 Nonimmigrant Visa Application:

Question # 26
Q. How long do you intend to stay in the US?
A. (We answered…) INDIFINITELY

Question # 27
Q. What is the purpose of your trip?
A. (We answered…) To marry [petitioner’s full name], fiancé(e), via a K1 Fiancée Visa with 90 day of arriving into the United States.

Question # 32
Q. Do you intend to Work in the US? (check box) Yes (check box) No
A. (We checked... NO and wrote) NONE (in the available space below)

Question # 33
Q. Do you intend to Study in the US? (check box) Yes (check box) No
A. (We checked… NO and wrote) NONE (in the available space below)

Most frequently asked question on the I-134 Affidavit of Support form:

Question # 11
Q. That I (check box) intend (check box) do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item #3.
A: (We checked intend and wrote…) This affidavit of support accompanies a K1 Fiancée Visa application. (in the space below)

Salamat....

Sheriff Uling

those are acceptable answers for the K-1 Visa. I agree some of the questions on the DS forms really aren't relevant to the K-1 Visa. there are no right or wrong answers to some of the questions. with that in mind, I wont suggest other answers so not to get another debate started.

I think I found a new place to live for me and my sweetie when he gets here. Ok so now what do I have to do that he is not actually going to be living at the address i listed on the 1-129F paperwork now? Is there some change of address form... I am not moving till after his interview, after um, Feb 8th. Then what do I submit? any answers?? thanx! the beaurocratic disaster has just begun.. LOL!

the form would be the AR-11. believe it can be done online. check out the details on the uscis.gov website.

I am happy to report that my two step-kids' CR-2 interviews yesterday were successful! Maybe this little snippet of good news will help to get everyone off that NOA2 extension letter thread that has occupied so much bandwidth in the last 24 hours!!

For the keeper of the timelines, I never logged the kids as their case was unusual and the timeline was rushed as a result... definitely not typical!

Yesterday was not busy at the IV Unit, but I saw lots of smiling faces as folks came out of the interview rooms.. Let's hope it is a pointer to a successful January and February for us VJ-ers!!

Good luck everyone!!

Congrats on the approvals Dave! I hope you're right and we can move on to other topics. to me what attracts members to this thread is the community spirit here. members helping one another. i hope the exchanges the past couple of days isn't discouraging other members from posting questions the may have about the process. the exchanges are counterproductive to what this thread is all about.

hi all!!!
it will be my first international flight this coming jan 27th and as much as im so excited to finally be with my babe at last i also cant help being nervous and worried being alone too... just wondering if there's someone on vj has the same flight as me. il be flying PAL 8:10 AM on the 27th bound to hong kong and has a connecting flight to United Airlines going to San Fran as my port of entry... Anyone??? thanks

PS
any reminders/advices what to expect especially arriving at my POE??? is very much appreciated

I can't help you with the joining you on the flight, though I don't blame you for looking for a travel companion, that flight is long and boring. However I've flown into SF often and can tell you the immigration officers are very friendly and helpful (I'm U.S. citizen but I've heard good stories from immigrants also) and the customs officers are friendly, even when they hold you to look through your luggage. You shouldn't have any problems. Incidentally be prepared for a possible long walk between gates at Hong Kong, that airport is huge. It actually took my wife and I a half hour to walk to our departure gate.

that's why I decided to have my fiancee fly PAL direct to SFO. she'll be flying with her daughter and want to make it as easy as possible for her. I'll be picking them up at SFO.

PAL is the best way too go for the direct flight. @ 46,746.00 PHP (956.42 USD) one way the cost is not bad for the not needing too change planes.

I try too sleep on the long flights or watch a movie or read. But sure I have made friends with the persons setting next too me also.

Holy Cow! That much??? That's about what I paid to fly to the Philippines round trip from LAX on Cathay Pacific back in April. I was counting on finding a one-way ticket for under $600, especially since I'm going to need to buy one for Jinky and her 5 year old son, Job.

Did you look into your fiancee purchasing the ticket over there? I believe you'll save some money that way as well.

on PAL website. one way from Manila to LAX 28326p adult, 22,564p child for a total of about 1120 USD. that's if you book 30 days in advance.

Well in 36 more days I will be with Luz again and in 38 short days we will be at her interview. We have been getting our stuff together for the interview. I just got my certified copy of my divorce, my employment letter, affidavit of support and got all the forms filled out and printed. In 10 days Luz and Robin will be going to the medical and they will also get fresh NBI's, police reports and BC's.

I got a little Christmas gift from my senator. His aid was the one who finally got me my NOA2 after 177 days of waiting. He told me to call after she got her interview date. When I called him he said he would have the Senator send a letter of recommendation to the embassy for me. He asked me for the particulars in our relationship and I just directed him to our web site. A week later I got this in the mail:
Posted Image

You think it will do any good? It impressed me!

it's great to have that for some extra reassurance. even without it, Luz will make it. with that letter, other supporting
evidence, confidence and smile, she'll breeze thru the interview. Yazi's 10 year old daughter was asked only one question by CO, how old are you?

hi garya!
i took my CFO at the PRISM. i had a wrong turn when i went to quirino first and they're telling to go straight at the PRISM since they're no longer conducting any counseling at the quirino. when i got there it was around 11:30 and of course i was late for the 10:00AM sched so i just registered myself for the 1:30 sched. then i went out go wandering till i was back around one. basically i think its safe for your fiancee to be there around 12:00 (to register) or before one o'clock if she wants to have the seminar in the afternoon coz you never know how many of them will take the seminar that day (i think i heard there's a limitation? correct me if im wrong. good thing we're not that many). then if there's still time, like they'll be done before 4PM go straight (dont waste anymore time)at the quirino to have her passport stamp or to get the certicate if she still dont have the visa...

She already had her counseling done in Cebu. We was hold she needed too return too Cebu for her stamp.

The reason why I asked, it would be nice if she didnt need too go to Cebu too get it.

I was wondering if she can fly too Manila for her stamp? (she would need to take a boat too Cubu)

she can also get the stamp at the main CFO office in Manila.

Hi Guys, please help

the D156

the yes / no questions on page 2

the second question, have you been denied admission specifically

Tita was denied a travel visa in 1993, is that the same as being denied admission. I personally think it is not the same. I would think that being denied admission would be like you left Philippines and arrive in USA and you have to turn around and come back for a serious offense.

Is that a reasonable interpetation?

yes, you are right. being denied tourist visa has no effect. denied admission would be if you were refused admission at a POE to USA. that's my understanding of it.

I have a question though.

Its pretty safe to say the interview is going to take place in april, but when will I actually recieve the interview date?

I would really like to know the interview date, as if I at least have a date to set my heart to, the waiting will be easier.

Thanks a lot,

Take care and may god bless!

has your petition arrived at the Embassy? the interview will be about 4 months from that date. April interview dates will be released in the middle of Feb.

Steve3656...

Question: Do you know if they still require a bank account letter for the interview or is that optional.

Answer: Yes! The instructions for the I-134 state that:

"The sponsor must submit in duplicate evidence of incomeand resources, as appropriate:

A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions where you have deposits...
.........1. Date account opened;
.........2. Total amount deposited for the past year;
.........3. Present balance.
B. Statement of your employer on business stationery, revealing:
.........1. Date and nature of employment;
.........2. Salary paid;
.........3. Whether the position is temporary or permanent.

C. If self-employed:
.........1. Copy of last income tax return filed
.........2. Report of commercial rating concern.
D. List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s)."

NOTE: Most sponsors do NOT submit anything under item "D", but the USE does't seem to mind because not everyone has stocks and bonds. On the other hand, there is a strong likelyhood that sponsors have bank account(s) and the USE may look unfavorable about a missing statement from the bank or other financial institution concerning the sponsors' deposit(s).

steve3656,
you can provide copies bank statements instead of letter from the bank. what I provided my fiancee with was 3 most recent tax transcripts, copies of the W-2, notarized form I-134, and a letter from my employer. I didn't provide bank statements or bank letter, but I'm not recommending you don't. I didn't feel it necessary with my particular situation.

Let's say, for example, that your income is 3X the poverty level. Is there any point at all in providing a bank statement or letter from the bank for an account with say, $3000 in it? Or for that matter, is there any point in providing anything other than the employer letter, copies of tax returns, and W-2 forms?

Is the OFFER LETTER (in company letterhead) sufficient enough as employer letter/certificate of employment? The annual rate and benefits were stated and the option when to start also.

Thanks,
Mari

I suggest getting an employment letter showing you are employed by the company at the present time. the more current, the better.

I need to send a letter requesting extension of petition approval. What's the procedure here? Send it to the Embassy Consulate IV fax?

No need to send letter. The embassy routinely extends the validity of NOA2 as long as you both remain legally free to marry.

So I don't need to do anything at all?

I didn't do anything. as PW said the Embassy will revalidate the NOA2. once an interview has been scheduled, the Embassy will revalidate the NOA2 if it should expired before the interview.
since you have your interview date, nothing to worry about.

bangus delight, I think if you do as uling recommends you should be fine. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think it's how the info is entered on the DS-156 that determines how it will be entered on the Visa. they ask that the DS-156 be double checked for accuracy since that info will be entered into the barcode, they scan the barcode at the interview to enter the info into their system.

Well, Jenalyn is finally in Pennsylvania. She arrived saturday night, with the airlines making us wait one final time as the connecting flight from Detroit was delayed a couple hours. Thanks goes out to Carly who let Jen use her cell-phone while waiting in Detroit! Immgration was no problem for Jenalyn, just a couple quick questions, fingerprints and picture, and a "on your way." But, Jenalyn did say it appeared the immigration officers were scrutinizing other immigrants more closely. Maybe it was her prize-winning smile that won the day.

Congrats on being together now. a positive attitude and smile seem to make the process easier. My fiancee thinks that might be part of the reason why she encountered no problem with the interviewer and CO doing her interview. a smile can go a log way... :)
