Yes, it is a requirement to have met in person within 2 yrs of sending the application. Please check this link:
http://www.uscis.gov.../article/A2.pdf However, if you can prove a hardship it will be waived. Good luck on your journey.

Thank you. Do you think the naturalization process is considered a hardship for us to meet together that long? I hope it will. sad.gif

I don't think so since being a US Citizen is one of the requirements for filing a I-129f Fiance petition.

I am 100% with you on that.
Let me make one thing clear as well, im NOT predjudise(sp--im tired), however, the american girl bashing is immature and way overrated by the philli girls.
And yes to whoever made that retarded statement about do men even marry american girls anymore, my Romanian husband married me, and my marriage is very well off.
And correct me if im wrong, but the whole time i have been a member of this site, its the philli girls and their "american" fiance's that are the biggest american girl bashers, heres my thought, we dont start threads about how wonderful we are, in other words, we dont need the constant attention of ppl we dont know, so if the philli girls feel the need to get that attention they are obviously not getting it where it should come from, they will get it, but it wont always be what they want to hear, thats the thing with forums, you can preach your qualities all you want, no one is kissing your ####### bc of it.
im off to bed now.

speaking for myself, I have never bashed American Women.

Good read.

I have a stupid question. What do you consider a mail to order bride? Is there an actual website for mail to order bride? or Filipina dating sites like filipinaheart is considered as mail to order bride?

Please enlighten me. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this.

google mail order bride and you'll probably find an answer to your question.

PhilippinesFil/American Woman Speaks Up About Mail Order Brides
QUOTE (Jabberwocky @ Jul 30 2008, 07:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Approximately 4,000 to 6,000 marriages in the U.S. involve international services. Of the women who were contacted by the INS, there were 1,400 Asian women. At least 70 percent were from the Philippines and another 16 percent form Indonesia, with the rest coming from Thailand, Japan, China and Korea. Not all mail order brides are Asian. Others come from the former Soviet Union. The average ages for the women were 16 to 20, followed by 21 to 25.

In Minnesota alone last year, 85 percent of the immigrants were fiancée visas. However, not all fiancée visas are mail order brides, some are relationships that evolved out of international students or otherwise.
The men who order brides are generally white, with at least two years of college education.

"Most of the men have control in mind and this is where the conflict occurs," Batica said.

Also,i have a 12yr old son that will go with me(K2) do i also have to fill up for him the DS157?

thanks so much in advance smile.gif

Question 9: Yes u have to put countries where u been even its only a week.
Ur son dont need DS-157,Its only you who need to fill up DS-157 form.To make sure....u can PM dbears bcoz she's done with her interview with her 2 kids (K2).

Good Luck!!!!

do not believe that is correct. the child does need to submit a DS-157. it's the DS-156k that does not need to be submitted for the child.

this was the additional requirement for renewal of vows.. (http://manila.usemba...v/wwwha009.html)
9. For renewal of vows - remember to bring a copy of the Catholic Marriage Contract.

every parish has their own policy, what's allowed and what's not (even in the dress code) so better if there is somebody who could inquire at the church where you want to have renewal of vows.

Thanks. it's something we'll have my wife's sister look into.

1. inquire to the your local civil registrar for there requirements like

* Birth cert.( YOU & YOUR HUSBAND)
* CENOMAR( YOU)
* SEMINAR (BOTH)
* LEGAL CAPICITY( FROM THE CONSULATE) BUT I THINK YOU WON'T DID IT SINCE YOU WERE IN THE STATES
AFTER YOU COMPLETE ALL THE REQUIREMENTS YOU NEED TO WAIT 10 DAYS FOR THE POSTING PERIOD.

nOTE: IF YOUR HUSBAND WAS DEVORCE THEN YOU NEED TO HAVE THE DEVORCE DECREE AS PART OF THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS

FOR THE CHURH REQUIREMENTS:

MARRIED TO A FORIEGNER:

YOU NEED TO GO TO THE CHANCERY OFFICE

* CHANCERY- Requires that all marriages involving non-filipinos must obtain CLEARANCE from the CHANCERY before any parish may entertain their applications. The same Circulation prohibits priest from baptizing foreigners who are applying for marriage or to perform blesings on couples who cannot be married by reason of DIVORCE of any one othe the parties. The chancery requires the following documents to be submitted:

A. FOR SINGLE PERSONS:

1. BASPTISMAL CERT.(MUST BE ISSUED WITHIN THE LAST 3 MONTHS)
2. CONFIRMATION CERT.(MUST BE ISSUED WITHIN THE LAST 3 MONTHS)
3. MARRIAGE LICENCE(TAKE 10 DAYS TO SECURE) FROM THE CIVIL REGISTRAR
4.PERMIT FROM THE PARISH PRIEST(IF WOMAN IS TO BE MARRIED OUTSIDE HER PARISH)

B. FOR SINGLE FORIEGNERS:

1. CIVIL STATUS CERT. FROM THE RESPECTIVE cONSULATE/EMNASSY
2. PERMIT/RECOMMENDATION FROM CATHOLIC PARISH(EVEN IF THE FOREIGNER BELONGS TO OHTER REGILIOUS SECT SINCE HE IS MARRYING A CATHOLIC THIS TIME)
3. BAPTISMAL CERT.(FOR CATHOLIC PERSON ONLY)
4. CONFIRMATION CERT. (FOR CATHOLIC PERSON ONLY)
5.BITH CERTIFICATE

D. FOR DEVORCE PERSONS:

1. DECREE OF ABSOLUTE DIVORCE(FROM CIVIL COURT)
2. DECLARATION OF FREEDOM TO MARRY FROM CATHOLIC MATRIMONIAL TRIBUNAL OR ANNULMENT(FROM THE CHANCERY OF THE STATE WHERE HE RESIDES)
3.SAME AS ABOVE "A"

E. FOR WIDOWED FOREIGNERS:

1. SAME REQUIREMENTS AS FOR SINGLE "C"
2. DEATH CERT.

NOTE: ONCE YOUR HUSBAND IS DEVORCE YOU NEED TO SECURE THE DECLARATION OF FREEDOM METION IN "D" NUMBER 2. EVEN HE IS A NON CATHOLIC. JUST GO TO YOUR NEAREST CHANCERY OFFICE( CATHOLIC CHURCH)

GOD BLESS! WISH YOU CAN HAVE YOUR HURCH WEDDING HERE. heart.gif

thats what exactly my mom gave me as a requirements... thanks a lot... he's divorced and i guess my chance is to go to a parish church and ask if they could give me some certificate for my husband w/ out any hasle... i wish we could stay in phil more than 10 days but its just hard for us... and i do take this wedding seriously knowing we never had any cerenomy (just the two of us signing the marriage license w/ out any witness just so we could send the paper right away to the uscis) so we wanted this and especially for my mom/family (its my hubby's bday gift for me to visit phil this yr plus a simple wedding that we've been dreaming of) so hopefully in God's will, we'll be able to make it happen...

thank u all for the ideas...

To All fellow VJs;

My nephew in Maryland is still on his Immigrant STatus, meaning they are here only for 3 years when his grandfather petitioned his Mom. He marry his GF who got a tourist visa? my question is what they need to make his wife to live her legally(not sure the status term of his wife), or what they need to do apply since they haven't get their citizenship cause they afraid someone may tell immigration about the status of his wife. His wife want to work so she can help with the financial matters.

any suggestion and response to this matter is highly appreciated.

best regards to all.

I know for a fact that one does not have to be a US citizen to file a CR1 visa for his/her spouse. One can file for spousal visa even as an LPR.

However, since he's wife is already here in the US, your nephew might not even need to file for CR1. He might just need to file AOS.

Someone here might have a more definitive answer.

I do not have definitive answer, but in for a long wait for I-130 to approve if now an LPR.

Well... no physical hardships here, the cost is a little prohibative, but I can swing that, it's just bad timing really. On the plus side, the information here is providing me with a much more solid basis for making decisions. It's good to know I don't need a visa to travel there, for a three week stay how much proof of my ability to support myself is necessary, I'm assuming that staying with a friend should prevent me from having to have a large amount of cash in reserve. I am overdue for a vacation as is, three weeks might make the boss a little grumpy but I can work from anywhere so he'll forgive me. This has brought up a few new questions, but they are mostly touristy type questions, I can find those answers on my own smile.gif

Thanks for the replies, I was pretty sure that an actual meeting would be required. I'm just gathering information now and have not begun the visa process, we've just been talking about it. The expense of the trip is a big part of the problem, but that's not unworkable. I do not have a visa or passport at this time, neither does she, so someone needs a vacation to another country, figuring out the most affordable options to do so is the next step. She lives in bacoor so I assume the most reasonable places to fly to or from is Manila.

you do not need a visa to enter the Philippines. you have up to 3 weeks to visit. it can be extended when you are there.
