Philippinesmy fiancees kids..
as has been mentioned, you do not want to cancel the petition. the petition is for your fiance. the children have derivative status. I was in the same situation as you not to long ago. weighing the pros and cons of having my daughter come at the same time as her mom or a later date.
as far as expenses for the process, in the long run it will be more expensive to have the children come at a later date, than at the same time as their mom.
you still have time to consider all of your options.
I'm not trying to be judgemental. I know everyone tries to do what they feel is best for their stuation. I know everyone's goal is to be together as a family. this is something I just want you to consider. The time that your fiance will be apart from her children. That is something that can never be replaced.
best of luck with whatever decisions you make good.gif

Philippinesa Fairy Tale
A Fairy Tale

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question?... .What do women really want? Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer.

But the price would be high; as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first .

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden; but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur.

He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered Arthur's question thus:

What a woman really wants, she answered.... is to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.

The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen lay before him on the bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened.

The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.

Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day....or night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old witch? Or, would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman for him to enjoy wondrous intimate moments?

What would YOU do?

What Lancelot chose is below. BUT....make YOUR choice before you scroll down below. OKAY?

Noble Lancelot said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now....what is the moral to this story?

Scroll down

The moral is.....
If you don't let a woman have her own way....
Things are going to get ugly!

PhilippinesTragic Marriage Proposal
a very tragic event. so sad for her fiance and her family in the Philippines. hopefully her body will be found so can be returned to her family in the Philippines. there's a little more detail in this news story.

SALEM, Ore. – Scott Napper had scouted out Proposal Rock before and knew just the right spot on the Neskowin Beach landmark to ask Leafil Alforque to marry him.

But on Saturday the Silverton man found himself running out of time to pop the question.

The 45-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were technically already engaged since he had to fill out the government paperwork allowing her to travel to Oregon last Wednesday from her home in the Philippines.

In fact, they had already set their wedding date for Dec. 6 – the two-year anniversary of when they met online.

But Napper wanted to make a real proposal. And so he found himself Saturday on the beach in an area of the coast between Lincoln City and Tillamook guiding her toward Proposal Rock, where he hoped to take her to a secluded spot overlooking the ocean.

Napper said he had been watching the tide and waiting for the right time to approach the landmark. And as they neared, the water started rushing over their ankles. But suddenly, within 15 feet of the rock, a sneaker wave of more than 2 feet hit them, he said.

Gone in a flash

He spread his legs for balance and leaned into the force of the wave. Seconds later, he turned and saw the 4 foot 11 inch woman reaching out for him. She didn't yell or scream, but her mouth was open.

She was already 25 to 30 feet away.

"I just couldn't get to her," he said. "She was just gone in a flash."

By the time he peeled off his coat, which was weighing him down, he could no longer see her.

As he called her name, the surf got rougher. Another man tried in vain to help in the search. Napper found one of her shoes.

He kept searching. Eventually, he was told to come back. His heart jumped when he saw a woman in a red coat on the beach, thinking it was his Leafil. But as he got closer, he realized it was just a stranger.

A few minutes after he came back to shore, someone spotted her other shoe.

"There was just nothing anybody could do," Napper said.

Rough seas hinder rescue

There were 20-foot seas that afternoon and no visibility due to fog. The Coast Guard was unable to respond from its Depoe Bay station due to the dangerous water, and a Coast Guard helicopter crew from Astoria had to turn back after repeatedly being struck by birds.

A second helicopter crew finally reached the area but had to turn back after 15 minutes due to the rough weather.

They found no sign of her.

Napper said authorities told him the water was 53 degrees that day; no one could survive those conditions for long.

And so, eventually, he had to come back to his empty Silverton home without her.

When he called her family, they thought the couple was pulling a joke on them at first.

"I wish to God it was a joke," Napper said.

Memories of her

He anguished over whether to return the cream-colored strapless wedding dress he had bought for her at Macy's the day before she disappeared. No one – not even him – got to see her in it.

"I knew if I just left it in the closet, it would be there forever, and I would just be living it forever," Napper said.

Napper, a professional trumpet player and substitute teacher, soon told more and more friends about his heartache.

Each time he talked about her, it got a little easier.

She was romantic and kind and wanted her own children like he did. In the Philippines, she cooked and cleaned and kept things running in the household, which included three boys and three girls, Napper said. She worked for hours at a time to help the youngest eat; the 3-year-old girl suffers from epilepsy, he said.

"She was so selfless," Napper said.

A 21st century courtship

They met on an online dating Web site – www.person.com – on Dec. 5, 2006 – (it was Dec. 6 in her timezone.)

They corresponded for 13 months before he went to visit her in January 2008 for three weeks. He tried to get her into the U.S. on a travel visa but that was rejected. And so he went ahead and started a fiancee visa, he said, which took much of this year to get processed.

In the meantime, Leafil told him she couldn't live without him and called herself Mrs. Napper.

"She kept one of my shirts and wore that thing to bed every night for months because it had my scent on it," he said.

Neither had been married before. She wanted to tie the knot before Christmas, so he figured they should do it on their anniversary. He planned a small ceremony at Silver Falls State Park by the North Falls.

Gone but not forgotten

Leafil was only in the U.S. for four days before she was swept out to sea. Tillamook County Sheriff Todd Anderson said Wednesday she is presumed drowned.

"The hardest thing for me right now is the fact that she's out there right now," Napper said.

He is hoping her remains are recovered. Authorities give him no assurances that will happen.

In the meantime, Napper has tried to move on, keeping his appointments and commitments and caring for his aging mother who lives in Salem and suffers from Parkinson's.

But the grief still weighs heavily on him.

This Saturday he plans to head to Silver Falls State Park alone. He'll stand in the very spot where they were supposed to get married. And he'll think of her.

"I might even put my ring on," Napper said.

Their interview date was Dec. 2,2008 but there was an allergy reaction on vaccination of my youngest so St. Lukes moved the interview date in Dec. 12 ,2008. We asked if it doesnt cause any problem since i will be 1 year already in Dec 7, St. Lukes said its just fine bec they r the ones who moved the schedule and that they are connected to the embassy. BUt when my sons went for an interview the Consulate denied them bec the date was exceeded 3 days already. we tried to explain that it was the St Lukes who moved the interview bec. of my sons medical situation. My question is can we make an appeal to the embassy or can we ask a certification from st lukes so that the embassy will give us consideration? I picked Dec, 2, for their interview and not dec. 12. they also took all the original documents what should we do now? pls help

thank u

Philippinescan i make an appeal to US embassy in Philippines
I will not say not to try, but I doubt it. from Embassy website...

Children (unmarried and below 21 years of age) of a K-1 applicant may derive immigration benefits from the same I-129 petition and are issued “K-2” visas. Children identified in the approved I-129F petition are called “derivatives”. Derivatives may apply at the same time as the principal applicant parent or may apply later, but must be issued K-2 visas within one year from the date the K-1 visa was issued to the principal applicant parent. Derivatives who are following-to-join the principal applicant parent must apply for their K-2 visas in a timely manner to allow visa issuance within the required period.

as long as the child was listed on the I-129f you should be fine. I do not recall if our daughters name was on the letter from NVC. you can call the Embassy to verify that they have your child listed as eligible for K-2.

Don't worry, Roy. The Warriors will have their day in the sun, when they move to San Jose. By the way, I remember 1975 and Rick Barry at The Cow Palace, when the Warriors got the Baltimore Bullets in 4 straight games to bag the NBA title.

Well, the Raiders won today, didn't they? But sad to say, the glory days of Stabler, Plunkett and Allen ain't coming back! Neither are the likes of Montana, Young and Rice on the west side.

My Chargers from America's Finest City have just cleared the initial hurdle on their way to the Super Bowl. They electrocuted the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay in a game that was played before the Broncos were edged by Buffalo. Now, San Diego and Denver will skirmish for the division title next weekend, and the Bolts will prevail in a cakewalk at Qualcomm Stadium.

Then, the Chargers will thrash every playoff opponent and return to Tampa Bay on February 1, 2009 for the biggest prize of them all!

On your interview day, The pre-screener will ask you the Affidavit of Support and its supporting documents... which are latest Income Tax Return, W2 or letter from his current employer stating his position and monthly salary or a payslip and bank statements/records (cash/stocks/bonds). They'll be looking in at your fiance's capability to FINANCIALLY SUPPORT YOU in the US. If unemployed, his bank records/statements should compensate for it.

PING, During My interview.. the pre screener and the consul didnt ask for the I-134. It's still w/ me. The pre screener only asked for his Tax return. I only submitted his 3 years tax transcript. During my interview, the consul only asked for his paystub. I handle it to her w/ I-134 but she returned the I-134 it to me and she said she doesnt need it Maybe it depends on the consul who handle your case. I just hope this will not cause the delay of my visa and they will not look for the I-134 again during their review.

in the Fiance Visa Applicant Interview Preparation instructions is does not say the I-134 is a required document. maybe that's why only tax transcripts are taken from some individuals. however I'd say it's very highly recommended to have the I-134, since it's frequently asked for by the prescreener.

n. EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Download Form I-134 at http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

good.gif I tend to agree. some people were willing to give honest answers to why they used a dating site. this thread has remained peaceful. to me, the last two questions could just open a can of worms. they seem counterproductive to what I thought was the intent of this thread.

Well, there has been some definite 'NO's!' and so I'm curious if one, there are Fil/Am couples here who are adamantly against international dating sites, and if they have experienced negative reactions from onlookers who might have said something to the sort of, 'Mail Order Bride.'

maybe some of the emphatic NO's were because of the perceptions that exist of some people about FilAm relationships. "looking for a ticket to USA", " mail order bride" "when guy much older than woman". I didn't use a dating site, just not my thing. for some it works, for others it doesn't.
I've experienced some of the negative reactions from people about FilAm relationships. I've choose not to let it bother me, since doubtful I could change their attitudes.
