Philippinescourt-less relationship

I would like to ask my fellow readers a question that is very on topic as JR is offering his limited supply worldly experience here for our consumption and has even placed a value on it...

He says it's worth 2 cents (US pennies), I countered with 2 Mexican Pesos.

What would you place the value of his advice at?

I think I'm sticking with my original opinion that he's trying to be "cool".

Calling us boys and girls. Giving us a lecture. The overall tone of talking down to us: "Learn and analyze as much as you can"

I think I would take offense at what he's saying; if only I could make sense out of it.

you just gotta love the way he has become condescending in this thread.

Philippinesfamily question

Not to mention that 19 & 21 years of age aren't exactly minors!

 the 19 year old will age out before a parent could become US Citizen, so will not qualify for immediate realative.
they'll have to wait in line for a visa and it's a long wait.

Immediate Relatives

The term “immediate relative(s)” is used to define certain immigrant relatives of U.S. citizens. Immediate relatives include:

Spouses of U.S. citizens
Children (unmarried and under 21) of U.S. citizens
Parents of U.S. citizens (The petitioning citizen must be 21 or older.)

Philippinesfamily question

ok, so I take it I am misunderstanding then. I thought as minor chilred, then chirldren could be added into the petition for the parents from the daughter. But this is not the case? Even though the daughter is petitioning for the parents, the chilren, even though minor, have to be petitioned separately? There is no way the minor children can be added in?

not when it's the daughter petitioning her parents, her siblings have no derivative status.

Note: If your parents have minor children abroad, those children (your siblings) cannot be sponsored on the same petition. See the “Bringing Siblings to Live in the United States as Permanent Residents” page for more information. After your parent becomes a permanent resident, he or she may file a new petition for any qualifying relative - see the “Family of Green Card Holders (Permanent Residents)” page for more on that.

PhilippinesI-751 2nd Biometrics

I posted this in the Removal of Conditions forum too. But just wanted to make sure that even if my wife had a biometrics done when she first arrived in country she still is required to get a 2nd biometrics when applying for the I-751? I-751 ($505) + 2nd Biometrics ($85) = $590. That is correct, right?

Getting ready to send it in.

Thanks.

Ok so they need the sticker but dont have to actually attend the seminar. So as long as a parent is attending and resgisters them they will get the necessary sticker?

yes, if they are under 13 years old. been there, done it. 13 to 19 need to attend peer counseling. I even double checked the need for a sticker. there is one in my daughter's passport.

PhilippinesWhile waiting for your step/daughter/son

JR,

I'll give you a bit of advice from a long time father (my oldest is now 19) and a step-father (for 2 1/2 years now):

I understand wanting to get the little guy everything but you do need to be careful as you're setting up a situation with extremely high expectations between yourself and the child. The child could take you generosity as an opportunity to get what they want from you via emotional blackmail. Furnish are room them, sure that's basic needs but most of the other stuff is over the top. You could have accomplished the level of generosity by spreading it out using birthdays, Christmas and other Holidays.

My little guy landed in the US with a fully furnished room (some new & some gently used items) and over the first year we gradually expanded his clothing & toy inventory. It also gave us a chance to bond during the shopping for him process (not to mention the time spent with the wifie for the benefit of our little guys which helped to build that relationship also).

If you really want him to know you love him, then don't worry so much about the material things and focus on giving him the attention, structure and support he will need as he acclimates to his new world.

Finally I'll address the "nasty, pervert comments" that have offended you so much. I understand that English isn't your first language but you have claimed to have been int he US for over 30 years so I would expect you'd have a better command & understanding of US English. You choice of words was poor and did indeed imply that you have more interest in and excitement for the child than his mother. I understand you're saying that's not the case but you need to think carefully on how you word things. As this in an internet forum we can't hear the nuances of your voice or read the expression on you face as we read your words so we have to take them at face value.

Sorry to agree with you. I just can not believe how you guys can even assume that. I can expect such a thinking from some one. Unless the person saying or writing has a very lowlife way of thinking. Is that answer your question? but you are free to think, act, write whatever you like that? If that is part of your personality, enjoy it.

I am sure some will not see or think the way some of you can be so gross and accusing others of such a lowlife. Again you are what you think and write. EOS.

PhilippinesCFO

Is the PRISM certificate required to exit the country? CFO has their own seminar, that means we need to go for a seminar twice? If they are indeed non profit, why are they collecting 250?

I think this is all BS making profit from people. And CFO will also require you to pay 150.00 for a booklet? It's really rediculous!

Prism is one of the seminars for fiance's/spouse's. your parent would just attend PDOS Seminar, unless over 60, then is not required to attend the seminar.

PhilippinesMarikina wont give police clearence do we need it???

I think the k1 instruction said "other contry police certificates". if the OP's fiancee didn't reside outside the PI for more than 6 months, then local policce clearance won't be needed anymore since an NBI certificate will be issued plus NBI clearance is better than police clearance.

I plan on just bring what is told on the instruction.

PhilippinesCFO seminar in Cebu

Well, we decided to choose convenience and go to the Cebu seminar. My fiancée (Faith) just went to the CFO seminar in Cebu yesterday, so I'm just gonna write a short review. This is a second-hand review since I wasn't there, but I'll give as many details as I can. I've been told that Cebu only accepts 15 for a seminar, but Faith said there were more than 20 there in all, although there were only 8 of them in the American seminar (for those traveling to U.S.) I've heard many horror stories about the seminar in Cebu, but I think it's mainly for those people who are very young, especially if they're marrying someone a lot older than them. There was even one 19-year old there with her mother, so I think they're just concerned about the young ones making sure they are prepared. I've also heard that they give divorced people a hard time, but I can't verify that since my fiancée and I are both young and never been married. They watched a video of women who have been abused when they married someone outside of the country, and they gave tips for how to contact someone if you get into trouble. But, I think that really only applies to people who don't know their fiancé very well; if you're close and you know he is a good person, you've got nothing to worry about. They also talked a little about language and culture in the U.S. and how Americans have different attitudes, concepts of being on time, etc. The nun seemed a little strict and seemed like she was trying to convince people not to go, but I think she's just testing to see how sure you are about your fiancé. If you're confident about your relationship, you won't have any problems =). After the seminar (I think it lasted 2 hours), you have your one-on-one interview. Faith was fortunate enough to get a young lady (25 years old) rather than the nun, and her interview was more like a casual conversation, whereas the nun's interviews were kinda long. The interviewer just talked to her like a friend and asked her how we met, how long we'd known each other, and other simple questions like they asked at the embassy. She also asked a few personal questions like what are some good and bad qualities about me. On a side note, the one that interviewed Faith actually has an American boyfriend lol, so that's a plus! Anyway, they just wanted to make sure we really love each other, so there was no problem with ours. However, Faith didn't get the sticker the first day because she didn't have a copy of my passport, birth certificate, and the infamous proof of singleness (that doesn't exist in the U.S.). Thankfully, she just went back the next day and showed them a copy of my tax return that shows my filing status as single and got her sticker! Now, we're ready to fly when I go back to get her! Well, that's my review based on all the details my fiancée gave me. I hope it helps! Maybe Faith can answer any questions or give more details once she gets to the U.S. since right now, she's usually talking to me when she's at the café =).

my wife also had her seminar in Cebu. this sounds very similar my wife's experience. about the proof of singleness, she told them she forgot it, left in in Davao. she was asked how does she know I'm single. she told them she's talked to my mother and my mom told her I was single. she got her certificate that day.

PhilippinesWho does the scheduling of appointment (K1 Visa)?

The only "packet 3" you will receive is a letter stating that you are eligible to schedule a visa interview. It will give you the numbers to call to book the appointment (632 982 5555). If you have your case number and passport, you or your petitioner can call to make the appointment. Also possible to book online at http://www.ustraveldocs.com.ph.

The letter will also direct you to the website http://Manila.usemba.../wwwh3238.html. This will be your main checklist of all the requirements necessary to prepare for the interview, including information on the medical, and links to the various DS forms you will need to fill up.

None of these requirements should be sent to the USEM ahead of time. Instead you bring them all with you on your interview date, except for the results of your medical, which St. Luke's will send directly themselves.

In short you're good to go. No need to wait for the letter but that's up to you.

Good luck.

I couldn't get the link to work. here's another one to webpage with a link to K- Visa Interview preparation instructions.
