Just caught this now. I'll be very interested to see if future interviewees also report the absence of the bald guy. I suspect he was the sole source of most of the hell that went down during the interviews since January.


My fear is that they have fatso doing morning shift, and nice-lady doing afternoon shifts. So far the two reports we've had about nice-lady came from afternoon appointments. Since we have a morning appointment, I am anxiously waiting to learn what's going on with those.

I would be happy to see him gone because there is no reason for someones first contact with the USA to be some rude A$$ who thinks they are God... I really see no reason to be mean or cruel to any of these girls no matter what the Govt official may think. All of this can be handled professionally, and guess what you still get the same outcome... Visa yes or Visa No, but people go away from the interview with a lot better feeling about the good ole USA wink.gif

It sounds like you have a very interesting life indeed, based on this and a few other posts I remember.

I called NWA (the airline I bought a one-way with) and they read back to me the Thai immigration rules about no one-ways w/out a visa issued before the flight. I told them I already knew this and my question was "Will NWA prevent me from getting on the flight without proof of a return ticket?". I asked twice and they told me "no" both times. They issued me a confirmation number as well, so I am hoping 1) this operator was correct about their policy, and 2) the fact that they confirmed I am on the flight and sold me a ticket is enough to be reassured for another reason that they won't prevent me from boarding.

I was going to Thailand for 30 days last October and only had a one way in which EVA Air told me was fine. I was flying SFO to BKK and I am a Diamond card holder which means I never can get bumped and get any flight I want... So I was not worried about the return ticket, well to make a long story short, they would not let me board at midnight in SFO I had to buy a ticket at the counter or I was not flying. It seemed to me it was the airline enforcing Thai law. So I said yes to the ticket it was open ended and all was well. But I was also told on the phone no problem but the problem came at the counter during check in. Just thought I would throw in my .02 cents....

smile.gif Yes, I also just booked a flight. I arrive on the 25 at 0100 in the AM... That is cool with me. I am happy now things are starting to move or at least it feels that way to me. At first I was going to go after the interview but I feel confident. I think we will be flying back on July 3 or 4 bnot sure have not locked down the return tickets yet. But the return is easy.

I made a list of a bunch of general question and their answers and gave it to AAm in order for her to study for the interview. I'm sure you could make a list with similar questions. However, in my research...I found that there are 3 'trick questions' that an IO might use when interviewing your wife. When you instruct your wife-2-B on how to answer these three questions below, be sure to remember that the only reason she is coming to the USA is to be your wife...NOT study/work/any other reason, because that may lead the IO to believe that your case could be fraudulent.

1) Question: Why do you want to come to the United States?
Answer: I want to come to the United States to marry Mark, because I love him. (its important to keep this answer short, and positively state that the only reason she wants to come to the USA is to MARRY, because of LOVE <be sure to use the word LOVE>...which is, of course, the reason for the K1. There is NO other answer to this question!)

2a) Question: If you are granted a fiancé visa, do you plan to work in the U.S. after you arrive?
Answer: No, I don’t plan to work. The reason I want to go to the United States is so I can marry Mark and be with him for the rest of my life. (It doesn't really matter if you plan to work or not, that is a question which will be specifically addressed during the next step of adjusting status (AOS) for her greencard. By answering NO to this question you fortify Question 1 above, which clearly states that you only want to come to the USA for the singular purpose of marriage, which is, of course, the reason for the K1)

If the IO continues to ask you about work, follow the question below:
2b) Question: Will you ever want to work in the United States?
Answer: Maybe I will want to work after I have been in the United States for a couple years. However, my reason for wanting to go to the United States is not to work. My reason for wanting to go to the United States is to marry Mark and spend the rest of my life with him because I love him. (Again, it is VERY important that the IO fully realizes her intent of coming to the USA is ONLY for marriage...not for work/study/any other reason)

3) Question: Are you planning to study at any university when you go to the United States?
Answer: No. My reason for wanting to go to the United States is so I can marry Mark, because we love each other.
(Again, answer NO to this question, and any other question that might lead the IO to believe your relationship is fraudulent and that you are simply using the K1 to get into the USA and then 'do other things'. Always keep in the IO's mind the fact that she wants to come to the USA ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE of marriage, which is, of course, the reason for the K1)

I hope you catch my drift on the questions above.

Tell her to use the words 'Marry' and 'Love' alot when answering questions, after all, that is what the K1 visa is all about...so make sure the IO knows that she knows this!

Well...that is my two cents! I hope it helps, and I believe it is important.

Honestly, though, when AAm and I went to the interview, they really didn't even ask any specific questions that could have tripped us up. Our interview was quite pleasant, and I kept contact with our IO for months afterwards, until we passed AOS. However, I was still prepared for the 'final battle'...if you know what I mean. And, hearing recent reports out of the BKK Consulate, it sounds like the interviews are carrying a lot more weight than I think they did back when AAm and I went through the process...so be prepared!

huh.gif biggrin.gif I have been thinking about this a lot, FIFO. Through out this process I have made it through rather quickly, except for a 39 days stop at the NVC for a little AP love. Only 40 days at CSC and really no RFE's, and pretty clear waters, I don't know why I have had a smooth ride and others seems to have problems or get held up. I fill out the same forms as others and submit the same evidence. I follow the same instrustions you do on the check list, but I do read here at Vj and do make note of the problems others have and make corrections to my packet. Maybe this helps, when I look at other timelines, I am shocked and really feel bad for those who still wait or have spent 250 days in this process. I know what you are going through because I can feel the same stress. I think the fact that we go through this process makes us better husbands and wives because we appreciate those we love a little more and can really never forget the pain and suffering that we went through to get them here. So chin up, hang in there and your time will come. Has anybody tried putting a 1000 baht note into the Packet 3 paperwork.... (That was a joke) innocent.gif star_smile.gif

Then fly home to sunny and broke San Jose CA and take a long ride on my Harley through the mountains to really try and wash all of this stress and BS out of my system before taking off on the next journey AOS and all the new BS.... I just read the new Packet 3 instructions on the embassy website. At the very top it says its OK to have the documents in Thai or English. Any other language needs to be translated. If that is the case why does everyone need to get translation and new seals?

FYI: The embassy answered a "do we have an interview date yet" question I asked a couple days ago yesterday (today Thai time). So I wouldn't give up on asking them yet. No mention of them not answering future questions. Looks like they still might be answering these questions after all.


My last correspondence with them goes like this:

May19 1:07am Chicago time - they initiated an email exchange with me, by asking for a document (which had already been included in our original I-129F petition last Sept.)
May 19 7:28pm Chicago time - I responded to their email, pointed out that they were given the document in question, and attached a pdf scan of said document.
May 20 - Thanti sent a photocopy of said document by EMS to embassy. According to tracking information it was received the next day.

...

May27 - no response. No email, no physical mail, nothing. That's 1 full week with no response to an email exchange they had initiated, and which was not merely a 'ping' for interview date, but a factual discussion of a document they claimed they needed. They have not even acknowledged receipt of the document, or given any indication of what's going on.

To say that we are frustrated is a massive understatement.
We are now in a holding pattern at the embassy since late March, and it's almost June.





I have been following your story and to me it is just unbelievable, the stress you must be feeling and yet you stay very calm.... I do not have your level of patience for sure. I read so many of these stories and they are just incredible. It is hard to believe that our goverment could really be this screwed up, and this cruel. Well enough said, as people who are living this nightmare when we should be enjoying our dream, we can all feel it... Sorry ranting again.

As she notes, the embassy is processing Packet3 but will no longer anser email requests regarding interview dates. They're not in information lockdown (at least I hope not!!) , they've just changed their MO for dealing with the public.

We are still hopeful to get our interview scheduled shortly. We resubmitted the document they claimed was missing (my name change, which had been part of the initial I-129F filing) so they have no excuses now for not issuing us a date.

Yes, thank you... I see they (Bangkok Embassy) did not put out a new list this week as they said they would in an email posted a few days ago. Has anyone got a thai speaker with access to the Thai chat website that deals with this subject? Is there any other information being talked about over there? I guess I am just in that searching for info mode, I hope this will pass soon. I thought stuck at NVC was bad, but oh no this is much worse.... So close and yet so far.

It's been several years since I've been there but I believe that the IV Unit is on the opposite side of the road of where the American Citizen's Services Unit is. Guards at the gates are happy to direct lost fiancées.



The visa unit is in the same building as ACS. Once through security, the sidewalk curves to the left. Their will be people outside at the desk taking applications/assisting for other visas. Go inside and approach the appropriate window (believe it was window 4, 5, and 6 but it's been awhile since we were there).

I've started to realize that it's not really the wait that bothers me (as much) it's more the fact that I have to deal with the government to get my fiancee over here. As we all know, the govt is unpredictable, generally nonsensical, and often impersonal. I guess that is true with governments of most countries though. If I knew I wouldn't have to potentially deal with B.S. at the embassy and if I felt the last leg of this process won't contain surprises that defy logic, I wouldn't mind the wait as much at all.


i didn't make the new list either, which doesn't really surprise me. some people have a waited a lot longer then I. I guess I really hate the not knowing, the not understanding, and the fear caused by knowning that my future is in the hands of the guy at window #5. I am really worried about the fact that they have so much power and we have nothing, no appeal, no chatting with a supervisor, "nothing". Sorry about the rant, I feel better........

I'm furious. They're asking for my name change certificate. My parents changed my middle name when I was 7 years old. I included photocopies of this in the original I-129F petition last September. It depends on the... ugh, how to call it... "quality" of your evidence. Right now you just need to prove you guys met within the last 2 years. As long as you included proof from a "reliable 3rd party" that you guys have met (where in the same place at the same time) within the last 2 years you should be ok. Boarding passes and Passport Stamps are a good example of that. Photos are sort of a secondary evidence because you can photoshop pretty much anything these days.

Save as much evidence as you can for the interview. There's when you have to prove you are in a bonafide relationship, that's when phone records and chat transcripts come into play.

I doubt it will take 60 days. AR and MD turn around was about a day after CSC received the documents.

Gosh, I've been posting like crazy today. Pretty obvious Im bored at work, lol

How many days after you are approved NOA1 does the visa interview date generally happen. I have all the documents on her end that required for packet 3 and 4 except the medical report which you when they send you information for it. I am hoping that she gets her visa by Early May.

So i got a RFE on Feb 22nd for more evidence of the relationship / establish of relationship.

I sent back the following information and they received the file on March 2nd and have 3 touches since.. is my approval soon?

1.) Passport Copies / Stamps ( 2 trips ) / Boarding passes
2.) Photos of engagment / 2nd trip
3.) email copies
4.) phone records
5.) History of how we met and established relationship
6.) Hotel Records
7.) Engagement hall records / receipts
8.) Gift receipts


Do you guys think this is enough and what is the average RFE turn around. The letter says next 60 days .... but thats really long.

I got my NOA -1 on NOV 20th 2009 and have had only one touch on 12-01-09 since then.

Any clue when mine will be approved or touched ago? I hope soon.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 March 2014

Sent my paperwork off today. I could have done it in July 2011 based on marriage, now its been over 5yrs I can just do it the simple way based on time.

 

Every time I thought about it in the last 2.5 years, I either a) didn't have 680 bucks in the bank or b) was about to move house / thinking about changing jobs  or c) couldn't remember whether I'd filed an AR11 the last time I moved house, so had as my next step to check into that. 

 

Finally its done! feels good to be on the path citizenship :)

Hi,

I'm going to file the ROC in 2 months and i'm already getting nervous about this. I do have a question though.
When enclose the photos of vacations..do they need to be printed out on papaer?? I don't have a printer that prints color photos at home. Is it OK to give them the actual photos instead??

i sent in photos, straight from the digital photo printer machine at target.

when i got the packet pack after failing initial review, the photos were in an envelope marked "photos"

The ROC process is a safeguard against marriages that were entered solely or primarily in order to get a Green Card. What the immigration people want to see is documentation you that you and your spouse are happily married, live together, and share your life together.

You send anything that will HELP make your case. If the utilities are not in both of your names, you do not send them. If there's something missing that you think they expect you to enclose, you explain your situation in your cover letter. In case of utilities that should not be necessary.


Two different utility company bills in two different names for the same time period and for the same address proves the same point as one utility bill with both names and one address. At least to most normal human beings it does. A cover letter saying "my utility companies only allow one name on an account, so we shared them out and are sending in a copy of each" should help build the case, unless you're being reviewed by robocop.

There are no hard and fast rules about proving your case to these people, you send in what your gut and your brain tell you, and you hope for the best.
